Meerkat Hunt (Very Short Story)
This is a very short story that isn't very descriptive. Not sleeping for 24+ hours does this...
Shenzi is hungry and the meerkats are at her mercy.
Meerkat Hunt (Very Short Story)
It was another day on the savannah, hot and bright. Here there were holes and tunnels underground. A small meerkat poked it's head up, looking around before getting out and stretching. The sun was nice on his fur and there was no predator in sight. Today they get to eat some insects and chill thanks to the hyenas most likely off somewhere else. He swore they just chased them to scare them.
Sure sometimes a meerkat gets eaten but most of the time they just seem to chase them for a laugh. He heard the song Duggah Tunnah in the hole. That song was a little annoying now that he hears it way to much. He sat down on a rock thinking to himself as some others got out of the holes to do whatever they wish to.
Not to far away Shenzi was watching as the Pride Rock lions take down a zebra and sense she was alone she couldn't really think of trying to take some of the carcass for herself. She was hungry. Banzai and Ed were elsewhere it seemed. She could only watch as the lions ate and got full.
Finally she got up and walks off in the Meerkat's direction. She was learning how to break their tunnels and scoop them out thanks to other Meerkat homes she practiced with. But something told her she could only get so many.. She walks on, seeing some meerkat's keeping watch and smirks. And suddenly she heard the yell: Hyena!
And they scrambled. She chased them down, grabbing hold of one by it's tail and pulls it from the hole and she throwns it in the air and the meerkat screams were muffled as it fell into the hyena's mouth and was gulped down in one swallow.
The meerkat had heard the scream and saw one of his friends get easily swallowed. He could only scamper and hide in his hole. This was the meerkat life. He just felt it would be over soon. He went into the deeper tunnels. He could hear digging sounds but hid.
Shenzi was digging and the tunnel collapsed, making meerkats get stuck and buried. Shenzi swallows them down easily. Her gut showing little squirms in it as it was filled with more meals. These little things really don't know how great they taste despite being in the dirt.
She was consuming and kept digging until her gut was full of about ten squirming snacks. She burps and laughs. So good! She decided that was enough for today and walks away to digest her squirming meals that were begging her to set them free.
