#2 of Memories

I honestly have a feeling this might not be as good as I thought it would turn out. But please feel free to read and comment if you wish!

Alex has been temporarily laid off work and he decides to do a little bit of an investigation before he heads for home. He has questions he seeks answers to: who was that dragon? What did she want with him? And why did he feel like he is in love with her when he was certain he had never even seen her before?

Alex held the rifle up to his shoulder, taking in three normal breathes of air before exhaling the last one halfway. Holding the other half in his lungs, he began to aim down range and carefully centered the iron sights of the SV98 sniper rifle. A large crowd has gathered as he had been able to shoot 9 out of ten bulls-eyes in a row at 1000 yards. Once he centered it, he began to slowly pull the trigger, ignoring the noises around him as he did so. A loud bang was heard and Alex lowered the rifle. The crowd all turned their heads to look at a man sitting at a chair as he looked at the target. His face in awe, the man looked up.

"Dead center..." He whispered.

The group began to whisper as Alex brought the rifle to the armourer, who took the rifle and checked it over before placing it back in its case. Alex paid the fee of using the military weapons and turned to leave.

"How did you did you do it?" The armourer asked, Stopping Alex as he was about to cross a gate towards a nearby parking lot. Alex merely turned back and shrugged.

"I don't even know." He replied, looking back at the old man behind the portable counter. "It just comes naturally to me." Alex turned back and walked through the gate towards his car. Immediately after hopping into it, the image of the dragon from the mirror popped into his head. It had been a week since the incident, but it still felt like it had happened the night before and it felt like he...knew her. That was impossible however, as Alex was certain he had never even seen a dragon. After all, who would forget about such an encounter?

Sighing deeply, Alex started his car and began to head for town. He was scheduled for three that day and he didn't want to be late. Yet when he drove into the garage's driveway, he knew something was up. There was supposed to be four in that day, so why was there already that many workers there before him?

Curious, Alex asked the guys what was going on but only got an answer saying that his boss, Bill Flanks, wanted to see him. So he had no choice but to go and find Bill. Of course, Bill was sitting at his desk in his office when Alex walked in.

A tall fellow, Bill wouldn't seem the kind of guy that would even work at a garage as he wore glasses and had the scrawniest body anyone could get. He had messy blond hair that almost always had a streak of oil in it and today he was wearing his overalls, which seemed to hang loosely on his stick-like frame. He looked up at Alex as he walked in with his grey eyes.

"You uh, wanted to see me Bill?" he asked, already knowing the answer. Bill motioned towards the seat across from him and Alex took the offer. Bill leaned forward and clasped his hands together as he placed his elbows on the desk.

"I'm afraid that you're not going to be working today Alex." He raised his hand when Alex was about to protest. "Look, I know you don't like it, but that's the way it is. You've been out of it lately, something has been on your mind and don't tell me you haven't been distracted."

Bill and Alex both leaned back into their chairs, Alex being unhappy about the whole situation. "You've been making mistakes lately, mistake that's costing us. You've spilt two barrels of fresh oil, caused a small fire, and we even got a complaint about a faulty weld made on his truck. The same truck _you_worked on." Bill shook his head sadly at him. "Hell Alex, any boss would have fired you back when you caused that fire. The only reason I didn't was because you're a damn hard worker and I think I'll lose money if I do."

Bill looked at him with sympathy. "I'm not going to ask what happened, but go home and get some rest." Bill turned to his computer and pressed the power button. "Get it figured out. You're a good man and I know you'll be back soon, alright."

Alex nodded and told Bill he would try but as soon as he closed the door, he began to swear silently. How in the world was he going to pay his mom now? He still hadn't sold a single picture and now he was laid off work temporarily. To make matters worse, he felt like he was going crazy over the whole 'dragon appearing in your mirror' episode.

After walking slowly towards his car, Alex decided to do something before he actually went home. Hopping back in, Alex drove deeper into the city and turned into a public Library parking lot. Here he walked in to see an old lady sitting in front of a desk, her nose buried in a book.

"Uh excuse-BWAAAAAH!" Alex began to ask, only to scream by the end of it as the lady looked up. He didn't mean to scream, but her glasses caused her eyes to look five times their normal size and it had startled him. A lot.

The lady snorts. "What do you want?" she asks in a nasally voice, her brow furrowed. Alex took a moment to calm himself before replying.

"I'm uh, looking for books on mythical items. I have a school project that uh-" He was suddenly interrupted by the lady.

"I don't care why you need the books." She hmphed as she went back to her book. "Aisle 21, row 4."

Alex nodded and hurried deeper into the library. Soon he was looking over the shelf she had indicated for anything that might help him. With approximately 15 books in hand, Alex made his way to a small table and placed them down with a dull thud.

"Shhh!" Went the librarian and Alex looked about. There was no one there, meaning that she could at least go a little easy on him. He merely shrugged as he sat down, causing a creak to resonate from the chair underneath him. "SHHH!" She went, louder this time.

Oh for fuck sakes... Alex thought as he opened the first book slowly and carefully so as to not make the slightest noise. Soon he began to read quietly, looking for anything that may resemble the mirror. About two hours later, Alex gave up having gone through almost all the books there. He stood up and stretched quickly before beginning to stack the books he had grabbed into a neat pile. One of the books fell onto the red carpeting and he bent down to pick it up only to stop.

There it was! An image of the same mirror that was in his room! Picking the book up quickly, Alex began to read the article on the mirror.

Discovered centuries ago, the artifact of interest: Arukks Mirror is believed to be thousands of years old. First appearing in the middle-west, people that have come into contact with it claim that it is not a mirror, but a doorway. No one knows where this doorway leads, but it is obvious that the other side is not that of earth for eyewitness also claim that strange humanoid beings that appear inside it resemble our mythical dragons. Oddly, however, the mirror disappeared in the year 2134 and no one has seen it since.

2134 huh? Alex mused to himself. That was a full two years before he was born. Now he knows that the mirror has been seen before and that the dragon girl within existed. This did not calm his mind, but it did answer something at least.

But who is that girl? Alex questioned as he began to put the books away. And why do I feel like I know her? None of these were answered as he made his way back to his car. He drove in silence, quite glad for it as he would occasionally look out and gaze at the passing scenery.

After an hour of driving, Alex was finally home at six o'clock that night. Unlocking the door, Alex made his way upstairs and began to change in his bedroom. He stopped suddenly, when he saw his naked torso in the mirror. Smiling, Alex posed in front of it, revealing the muscles that lie underneath his skin. He suddenly felt like someone was watching him and he blushed, moving out of the mirrors gaze to finish changing.

Sure as hell hope that thing doesn't act like a one way mirror as well... He thought worriedly to himself, shaking his head. I would just die of embarrassment if she saw me posing like that. He suddenly began to laugh. Ha! Look at me! Worried that some girl that isn't even human might find me attractive!

Now in his work out outfit that comprised of a white tank top with black workout shorts, Alex made his way back downstairs where he grabbed a bottle of water. He tries to work out weekly to keep in shape. At first he did it for his job, but then he realized it calmed his mind just as much as drawing did and he kept at it. This time however, Alex knew it wasn't going to calm him down. There was too much on his mind and he only prayed that the work out helped him sort things out.

Once in his workout room, Alex turned on the stereo and switched on his I Fight Dragons Playlist. Once satisfied with the song, Alex placed himself down on the bench and immersed himself in the workout. After several minutes, Alex stopped and rested his muscles before sitting up and took a swig from the bottle. He stood up and walked over to the tread mill and stopped, thinking he had heard something. Listening carefully, his ears only caught the sounds of the techy game-like music of the band. Shrugging, he hopped on.

At first, Alex merely did a speed walk for about five minutes until he increased the speed. At this speed, Alex again ran for another five minutes and increased the speed once more. He did this several times until he was running at his fastest speed where he pondered on what to do for his money problems. Sweat beaded down his brow and he wiped it away, smiling as he ran.

A sudden loud smash pulled him out of this feeling and Alex began to stumble, trying to keep up with the speed of the tread mill below him. "SHITSHITSHIT!" He cried as he regained his footing. Back up to speed once more, Alex sighed with relief. Listening carefully, he realized that the music stopped playing and he turned his gaze to the stereo, only to have his eyes bulge out their sockets.

There, standing above the now destroyed stereo, stood the dragon from the mirror, a shocked look on her face as she looked down at the mess.

Alex hadn't realized he had stopped, until he looked forward to see the bottom of the tread mill come rushing towards his face. The only thing he could do was simply say: "Well...Shit." before his face smashed into it and he went sailing through the air with an even louder: "SHHHHIIIITTTT!"

He smashed into the wall hard and cans from an above shelf begin to fall on his still form, bashing him all over his upper body and head. After the cascading metal rain stops, Alex sat up with a groan and opened his eyes. Everything around him was blurry, but he could still see the shape of the dragon dash to his side and grabbed his head, bringing him close to her chest.

"I'm so sorry Alex." She whispered sadly and gently as darkness began to cover his vision. "I'm so, so sorry."

It was the same dream from before, Alex realized, as he dashed through the foliage with a smile of glee on his face. The same voice from before called out to him and he once again ignored it, wanting her to chase him. Soon he felt the tackle and both began to tumble down the hill.

_ Once stopped, Alex and the girl stood up and began to wipe the twigs and dirt from their clothing when he heard his mother calling him. He looked in the direction of his mother's voice before turning around to look at the girl._

_ What met his gaze was the face of the dragon._

Alex gasped as his eyes opened, sitting straight up as sweat rolled down his face. Covering his face with his hands, he wiped the sweat away. The dream had changed, but why? And why did the girl have the face of the dragon from the mirror.

The dragon!

Looking about, Alex saw that he was alone and he smiled, thinking it was all a dream. Placing his hand on his forehead while placing himself back down, he suddenly felt pain there. Removing his hand, Alex looked over to the mirror next to him. Covering his upper body, like polka dots on a spotted cat, were bruises. They covered most of his body but the one that he really noticed was the one on the forehead. He guessed that was what caused the knockout and he stood up to go to the wash room.

He didn't believe that the dragon had come rushing over to him, holding him gently to his chest earlier. Alex also didn't believe that the dragon might have actually brought him to his bedroom, thinking that maybe he had dreamed it all because of the head injury. He placed his hand on the doorknob of the bathroom door and opened it...

...Bringing his face literally a mere centimeter from the dragons face.

The two blinked, looking at each other for a long moment with Alex only wearing his boxers and the dragon standing there completely naked, looking like she had just got out of a bath.

"Uhhhh..." Alex mumbled as he stared at her beautiful eyes. Most people would probably scream and run out of the house after coming so close to the dragon, but he merely opened his mouth and asked: "Do I...know you?"

It looked like the dragon was about to cry. "You really... don't remember me? She asked, bringing her hands up to hold them over her chest.

Alex shook his head and shrugged. "Sorry lady." He began. "But I'm certain I'd remember you." The dragon stared in shock at him, and then wailed sadly, covering her face with her eyes as she began to cry. Alex felt pained at causing her grief. Sure she wasn`t human, but she was still technically a person with thoughts and emotions.

So Alex walked up to her and embraced her in a hug, holding her trembling form against his chest as she cried softly. Soon he felt her hold him gently as well while still she cried. He began to slowly caress the dip in her back as he consoled her.

"Come on now..." he whispered gently. "Look I'm sorry I don't remember you. I'm certain that if I'm the guy you remember me as then..." Alex stopped his caressing and held her at arm's reach, smiling warmly at her as she sniffled. "Then I'm certain that I'll be able to remember you if you told me a little bit about our past, alright?" The dragon looked at him for a moment before smiling, moving back towards him and placing her hands on his chest along with her head. Alex blushed as she did so.

"You really are him, even you can't remember me..." She whispered gently as she rubbed her head against his chest. She stopped and looked up at his face "...You've grown into a handsome young man Alexander."

"H-hey!" He cried suddenly. "If you know me like you say you do then..."

"Don't call you by your full name?" She finished before him, tapping his nose lightly as she pushed away from him. "I used to do that when we were kids, you know, just to piss you off sometimes." She suddenly went on her tip toes to get a closer look at his forehead. "Boy, I wasn't expecting it to get so big..."

Her chest was now closer to his face and he got a good look at her ample breasts and the nipples that seem to stand out amongst her silver scales. He did not want to look at them and without thinking, he covered them with his large hands so as to not to look at them. The dragon jumped, her face going red.

"Alex..." She went slowly, her face devoid of emotion. "What are you doing?" Alex felt his face go a deep scarlet red.

"I-uh-umm." He stuttered, removing his hands from her and moving back. She continued to stare at him quietly and Alex ran back to his room. "I'll get some clothes!" He cried as he closed his bedroom door. Pressing himself against the door, he placed his hand against his face.

"Ohchristohchristoh my fucking Christ! Did I seriously just grab her...her..." Alex trailed off as he walked to his wardrobe, pulling out some clothes and throwing them on. He also grabbed some for the dragon before walking out. She was waiting quietly, outside his door, leaning against the wall and was holding her breasts with her hands, keeping them out of his sight.

"Look I'm really, really sorry." He apologized to her, handing her the clothing. Alex suddenly squeezed his eyes shut, not wanting she ow she would react. "I-I didn't know what I was thinking. I didn't like how you were undressed with me around and I-" He stopped suddenly when she grabbed his head gently with both of her hands and slowly pressed her lips against his. Alex's eyes went wide in surprise, but only for a moment.

He didn't know what to say about what he felt. It was like... all the trouble in the world disappeared when she kissed him. Without realizing it, he reached around her and pulled the dragon closer so as to embrace her during the kiss, slowly closing his eyes as he did so. He didn't even know her and yet it felt...right somehow.

They pulled out of the kiss and the two sat there for a long moment, just enjoying the feel of each other. "What was that for?" Alex whispered gently. The dragon as she pulled out of his arms.

"I'm sorry." She replied but Alex only shook his head.

"I think I do know you, it's just that I don't remember you." Alex says he shook his head. The dragon looked at him in a confused manner.

"What do you mean?" she asked slowly.

"Alex looked up into her eyes. "I think..." He began slowly. "I think that remember only in my sub-conscious." This caused Alex to think. If she was someone he once cared for to the point where he fell in love with her, why did she only appear in his sub-conscious? He was suddenly pulled out of his thoughts when a loud growl was heard from his stomach. This caused Alex to blush.

"Soooo..." Alex began slowly, looking off to the side with his face red. "...Shall we get something to eat?"

The dragon began to laugh and soon Alex joined her too. She was the first to calm down, looking up at him happily. "I hope you've become a better cook then that time you cook me that grilled cheese sandwich." She suddenly stuck her tongue out and grimaced. "You even somehow burnt the cheese that was inside the sandwich."

Alex grinned at her. "I may not remember that, but I definitely know that I've improved." He began to walk down the stairs. "Come on, I'll whip us up something and you can explain some things to me, such as your name for one."

The dragon looked at him with her blue and yellow eyes. "My name is Cybil." She said, holding out her hand to him. "And it's good to meet you again Alex." He looked at her hand for a long moment then shook it firmly.

"Nice to meet you Cybil." Alex replied. "And I certainly hope I remember who you are exactly after all this."

Memories: Part Three

"Alright!" Alex cheered not as enthusiastically as he began to sprinkle spices over some raw steak he had pulled out. Soon he was satisfied with the amount he had placed on them and turned the digital screen of his stove on, throwing the tray the...
