Brian's Tale Chapter 2: An Adventure Unfolds "Brian?" a voice asked "Huh?" Brian asked as he looked to his left. At the moment, he was leaning against the tree in his dream-field place. Looking to his left, he saw Jenna with her head on his shoulder "I said 'Isn't this place lovely'" "Yeah, it really is." "I'm really glad i could be here with you..." "Ya, me too" "Bet He would love this place" Brian said, feeling strange, not knowing who He was, or why he said it. "Ya but i'm glad it's just our spot" "Ya... Me too." "It's nice for us to get some alone time... You know, away for them" "It is." He said, not really knowing who they were
Brian began to awake. Opening his eyes, he found Jenna hugging him even fiercer then when then went to sleep. He began to shake her to get her up. "Jenna..." "Ugh..." "Jenna..." He began to shake her a little hard "Wha?" "It's time to get up." "Oh.. Okay..." What a weird dream... He thought to himself. In the dream, he and Jenna seemed more... touchy-feely... He quickly realized he was so tired last night that he didn't change out of his jeans and shirt. After some help from Jenna, He got some clothes and went into the bathroom. Putting them on, he grabbed Jenna and went downstairs. "Hey honey, how'd you sleep?" Nancy asked. "Really good actually..." Brian began thinking back to the dream "Great. Well sit down and i'll get you some cereal" Brian and Jenna chatted while they waited for breakfast. Brian was surprised his mom allowed her to eat human food. Appearantly she hated Pokefood so much when she joined them that Nancy just gave up and fed her actual food to which she liked. "Huh..." Brian said before digging back into his bowl "Anyway honey, i'm going to drive you to school... You know just to get you aquainted. Everyone in town knew you were in a coma, though only a third know you're awake. It'll be a nice surprise to everyone." Soon Brian (Sadly) had to say goodbye to Jenna. She seemed really sad to let him go, after all, she just got him back yesterday. He then left with his mother and hopped in the car. "Hey Mom?" "Yes Sweetie?" "What do i do if people ask me if i know them?" "Just tell them the truth." "Okay..." Soon the car stopped at large building. He began tensing up until Nancy used her ultimate wisdom to give him a bit of courage. "It's fine honey, just go in their and... have fun" She said giving her child a hug He stepped out of the car, shaking. "Bye sweetie, love you!" Nancy yelled before driving off. Now he was just standing there looking as other kids entered the building. He began shuffling towards the building as others were shocked to see the boy - who was a couple days ago in a coma - walking around fine. He began to fear the stares were stares of hate. This was proven wrong when one step in the door, he was surronded by about at least 25 students. He began to hear a million different things "Oh my god!" "You're up!" "I missed you!" He began to get confused, struggling to find his voice. He felt as if he was going to have a panic attack! If he didn't stop this... "I uh.. I'm don't I..." "Hey!" a voice yelled. Everyone stopped their talking, looking towards the voice. There, he found two people his age. The first was a boy with fire red hair. He had light red shirt and shorts on. He was skinny but not boney. He had a kind-of mean look. He was standing next a blue haired girl. She haid a t-shirt of a mudkip and jeans on. They both seemed... important. Something about them made him think he knew them. "Give him some air! You're gunna give him a heart attack!" A path was made for the two. They both approached him before the girl practically tackeled him with a hug. "I knew you'd wake up i knew it!" The girl then let go as the boy gave him a strong hug. "I missed ya man!" "I uh... Who... are you?" "...What?" "I.. uh.. I don't know who you are..." "...Again, What?" Brian began to explain his predicament (leaving out the whole thing about him being... two people.) and how he could talk to Jenna. Only a couple left, thinking he was talking BS. Soon everyone realized class started 20 minutes ago and everyone left except for the three. "So.. what does this mean about... us three?" Maroon, the red headed boy said. Brian figured out all three of them were best friends and had been since middle school where Brian fought a bully who was harrasing the girl. (except for Jenna who was his best-best-friend.) "Yeah?" The blue haired girl, Azure, said. Brian wondered the same thing. "I don't know..." "I guess-" Soon the three were interuppted by a passing teacher. "You three, get to class!" "I- I'll see you later guys!" Azure yelled, running off Maroon just stood there before clearing his throat "Uh... yeah dude, see ya later!" He said before doing the same "I guess i'll.. get to class" Brian said with a sigh. The day was mainly uneventful, except for the fact almost everybody asked him if they remembered him. He didn't. Now, he was on the bus answering a bunch of questions "No i don't remember the crash." He said to the children who peeked their heads up over the seats. "What was being in a coma like?" Brian thought for a second "I was this endless field leaning against this huge tree. And there was this blurry thing next to me... and we just sat there." Brian recalled. "Cool..." All the kids said. Soon Brian was off the bus, going inside his home. As soon as the entered the door, he tackled... By Jenna. Jenna began to explain she missed him and he should never go to school again. Looking around, he saw Nancy in the kitchen with a smile on her face and Holly, the Arbok and Angela, the Jolteon, rolling on the floor laughing. After saying he promised he wouldn't he went into the kitchen and grabbed a snack "...Does she do that often?" "Every day. And you always say you won't go to school anymore, it's very cute." "Oh... okay." Brian and Jenna both went upstairs. After finishing his homework, he turned on the console and the two played Pokemon Fighter 2000. Brian lost. He didn't know the controls and it also helped that Jenna was really, really good. "You cheated." Jenna began to laugh. "I cheated?" "You cheated." he repeated "Maybe i cheated... or maybe you just suck at video games" she said with smug tone/smile. "Whatever." He said with fake anger and a real pout, looking away. She continued to laugh before putting her head on his shoulder. "Oh come'on Bry..." Jenna made the petname for him a while ago, but it annoyed him because it made him sound like a girl "Okay..." He said before turning around "Okay?" "Okay... i'm going to get you." Brian then picked her up and put her on the bed "Eek!" She yelled before Brian put her on her back and started tickling her "Ah! eeek! Brian! Giggle Stoppppp!" She yelled through the laughing. She might lof looked like she was in pain, but in reality, she was loving this. Before he lost his memory, he tickled her all the time. "Okay, okay" He back up before giving a hand to help her up. "Thanks" She said, brushing her fur down. "But i think this has taught you a lesson." "What?" "Don't be so easily tickelable" "That's not a thing or a word" Before Brian could make a comeback, he heard his mom call him down. "Brian! Jenna! Dinner!" The two realized how tired they'd been and rushed downstairs After dinner was served, his mother began to bring up a very important topic. "Brian..." Brian looked up, his mouth full of pasta "Huhmp?" "We all need to talk to you about something..." "What do we need to talk about- OHHHH that!" Melody yelled. Even Jenna had a look of knowing. "What?" "We've been thinking about this- well you have to... and... well let me begin" "I told you about how i'm the champion of Hoenn and how my love of pokemon. Obviously, that's transferred onto to you." Nancy said, guesturing towards Jenna. "But anyway... About a month before you were hit, we discussed... your future." "My future?" "Yes. You've said in the past you wanted to be a teacher or a researcher... but the thing you most wanted to be was... A trainer." "A... a trainer?" "After the first time i told i was a trainer - when you were 3 - you wanted to hear ALL my stories. I told a few to Pam and about half to Melody... but you... i had to make up some stories because i ran out after a couple days of telling you. Pam always wanted to hear about when me and your father met - at the time we we're still together, but to you it was 'what battle tactics you used' or 'at the Petalburg gym, what moves did Holly use?', and this was when you were only 3! Three!" "So..." "So, we've all decided a few months ago, that we'd let you go on a journey, with Jenna..." "REALLY!" "Yes! Then, a month later, we told you. You wouldn't stop preparing. You spent the first night packing... even thought we said you were going to leave in a month. But then... then the accident occurred and we thought that dream was dead. But you awoke. So now... we have to ask you... do you want to be a trainer?" Brian was... speechless. They just asked him if he wanted to be a trainer - his dream job. The job kids say when their 5. To travel the world and meet new friends! To become champion just like his mom! To have an journey with Jenna! What kind of moronic question was it? Who would say no? Wait... they might think this silence is a way of saying 'no'... He's gotta tell them! "Yes! Yes! Yeah!" He scream more ways of yes (even in spanish, which the two though way fake, since theres no 'Spain' in the world) "Okay! we'll-" "Tell me in a second!" Brian yelled, running upstairs The girls all looked to each other before doing the same thing. They found Brian in his room, putting his stuff in a suitcase. "Honey, what're you doing" Nancy asked. "Packing." "Well, why- Is that my suitcase?" He looked at her, not moving his body "Oh... yeah" "Honey?" "Hm?" He said, this time not looking away. "You're not going for a month." "What?" "We've decided you need a some time to learn about... the world." "But..." "I'm sorry sweetie, but we just can't let you go out tommorow. I'll make it up to you. Tommorow we'll go out and get icecream." Brian hung his head in defeat "Okay... fine" "Yeah icec ream!" Jenna and Melody both yelled "But not until tommorow. Now lets go finish dinner" Dinner was full of laughs and jokes, and full of hopes of a great adventure. After the meal, Brian changed into his PJ's (With Jenna closing her eyes, although she got a few peeks when he wasn't looking...) and went to bed.
One month later. "Brian!" Today's the day. Today is the day that he goes on his adventure. Throwing his sheet off, he got up. He was just so excited that he put on new clothes last night. He practically teleported downstairs. "Hey mom!" He yelled To Nancy who was getting the milk "AH!" she yelled. "I didn't even hear you come down! Plus... you aren't supposed to be up for another half an hour..." "Well... i was just so excited!" He exclaimed. "By the way... wheres Jenna?" "Probably sleeping... like a NORMAL person." "Oh..." "Well i'm not that normal..." a voice said. Jenna was standing in the doorway, her fur groomed. She had been in the bathroom, doing so. "Jenna! i'm glad you're up! We can talk about the day more!" The two talked about how they were going to have so much fun, listing all the possibilities (even one about Palkia finding them and joining their team). During there talking, Melody came down to say goodbye By 8 o'clock, the two were ready. Brian had a light red jacket and a black t-shirt, as well as a pair of jeans. On his pack, a tan backpack with various items - 10 potions, a couple of burn, freeze and paralyze heals, and, obviously, a few pokeballs. He had other simple things: A tent, clothes, human and pokefood (the pokefood for future pokemon), cookware, a flashlight, and other stuff. Jenna just had her fur down. Now everyone was at the door, silent. Nobody wanted to say anything, because they if did, it would be one word: Goodbye. Soon Melody just gave up hugged him and whispered into his ears "Goodbye, big brother. Remember me when you're famous" "You think i'd ever forget you? I'll think about you every day" While Melody gave her last words and a hug to Jenna, Nancy just stood there. She had tears in her eyes. She began to blubber like a baby. But really, why shouldn't she? Her son was going out in the giant, dangerous world! What if something hurts him! Seeing his mother crying, he gave her a hug. "It's okay Mom, i'll be fine. I've got Jenna, right?" He then let go to let Nancy say goodbye to Jenna. While she was doing so, Brina pulled Melody aside "Melody, Mom's going be a little... sad. I want you to comfort her. Just.. stay with her this weekend. Don't leave her side, Okay?" "Okay big brother." The two headed back to the front Before stepping out. His mother began to shout goodbyes "Goodbye honey! Try your hardest! Never sleep outside unless you have a tent!" She yelled as the hurried off.
Brian right now was standing in Rowan's office. The professor was busy testing something and would be there in a few minutes. The office was a little small but not overly cramped. It had a homey feel to it. "Brian M'boy! You probably don't remember me but i'm Rowan! I'm sorry about your accident!" The professor said, entering the room. He was just like the games - old white hair, a tough face, an appearance that looked like he taught something at a college, and he always carried some strange briefcase "Oh thank you sir. My mother has told me about your meeting and how you thought-" "Hmph yes. Well lets get you your ID and a Pokedex." Rowan said, wanting to avoid the topic He pulled out a strange machine and dusted it off "What's that?" "This M'boy, is a lamenation machine... now let me take your picture..." Rowan said as he pulled out a disposable camera and got a picture. The picture had Brian's eyes with that stupid red-glare-thingy. Brian was a little flustered as Jenna was snickering "Can't i get another picture?" "Trust me, you should be glad that is the ONLY thing wrong with the picture..." He said As he let thing machine work its magic, he ruffled through a box of old junk. "So... is there a reason you're digging around in a box from your garage" "I see your jokester attitude hasn't escaped your memory." He said as he pulled out a pokedex After the formalities were finished and his things given, he walked Brian out "Well son, make me prou-" "WAIT!" two voice yelled. Maroon and Azure ran through the entrance. "Wait! Don't go yet!" "Guys, what are you doing here?" "To say goodbye of course!" Azure said "...And to get our licenses!" "What?" "Yeah! when you said you were going to go, it got us inspired! We convinced our parents and... here we are." "That's really cool guys!" "Ya, Maroon's gunna be some 'master trainer' and i'm going to be a contest competer!" "Oh, are you guys leaving today?" "No were gunna be go to Lake Verity to catch a pokemon!" "Plus, i bet Mesprit will see how much potential i have, and it'll join me! No one can stop me with a legendary!" "You're not going to kidnap it are you?" Brian asked "What? Well... If it doesn't join me..." "Maroon. Do not try kidnap something that could turn you into a Skuntank." "But-." "Okay, okay lets stop this. Come you two." Rowan said, returning to his office "Okay Brian... See ya!" Azure yelled "Ya, man. See ya in Jubilife, huh?" "Ya." And with that, Brian left.
"UGH!!! I hate bugs!" Jenna said, swatting away the flies as they swarmed her. "Well maybe if you weren't so bright, they wouldn't attack you." Brian said as he swatted one on his neck. "Harty Har." She said sarcastically. "Okay... this looks like a good place..." Brian said as he set his backpack down tiredly. Today had been a long day, physically and mentally. Physically because... well it was 8 hours of walking, and mentally because there was no difference in the scenery. Brian quickly started up some dinner: Some nice potato soup. Igniting the fire and setting up the soup, he sat down with Jenna. "So.. what do ya think about... having a partner?" "Whataya mean?" "I mean... that we go out into the forest and capture a... friend." "I don't think you capture 'friends' "You know what i mean." Brian said as he got a couple of bowls and poured some soup. Meanwhile, a certain pokemon was playing in the flowers.
Sarah was a kind, childish Shinx. She was about 2 and loved playing in the fields, much to her parent's dismay. They always said she'd be captured in those weird magical balls those.... humans - Ya I think that's what they're called - used. She'd seen a once human, and it was really weird looking. It had really long paws and it's fur was hanging off it's body. "Aha!" she yelled as she attacked the dandelion she had her sights on. The sun was sitting and she probably should head back by now... wait! she smelled something... something really good-smelling. Looking towards the scent, she saw a clearing and a fire with two figures over it. Looking closer, she made out one of the figures: It was a human! Every fiber in her being told her to just run. Just go back to her mother and father and never see this human ever again. Wanting to not be noticed, she began to creep back to her den. She might've made it until... SNAP "Hey, what was that?" the human asked Crap! Okay, maybe she could get away if- "Hey... i think it's a Shinx!" The yellow thing yelled. She was about to run until... She noticed she couldn't move. By now, the two were towering over her. This was it. she was going to be in one of those balls forever, to be a slave to a human. "Hey there, little guy." Brian said as he looked over the frozen Shinx. "Uh... Brian?" "Ya?" "...That's not a guy" "Oh i'm so sorry little... girl!" The shinx didn't move, just stood there. "Uh... Jenna, could you speak to her? I think it'd better if you asked her why shes... Frozen." Jenna stepped infront of the pokemon and tried to get it to move. After a few moments, she just gave up and asked a question "Hey, uh, why aren't you moving?" "Please don't hurt me" "What?" "Don't hurt me please..." "Hurt you? Why would we hurt you?" "Because you're a human" Sarah said, ignoring the fact that Brian was speaking to and could understand her. "What does that have to do with anything?" "Humans are evil. They lie, cheat and steal from good pokemon, my momma said so herself." "I'm not going to hurt you..." "But you're gunna capture me." "Not unless you want me to." "Really?" "Of course. Here, watch." He said as he threw his other pokeballs back to the camp. All he had now was Jenna's pokeball and the clothes on his back. "Here, i'll take you back to your cave" The trip back was an interesting one. Sarah was still a bit untrusting towards them, but she did give them some information. She lived with her parents and siblings in a Luxray-ruled clan. She had been taught 'all humans are evil' and 'they take you away from your family', a lesson she was starting to disbelieve. "This.. is my den" The 'den' was a large cave on the side of a hill where they all lived "Mom! Dad! i'm home... and i brought friends" "Sarah, i told you- HUMAN!" A female Luxray - assumed to be the mother - yelled "What is it mate?" A male voice asked. This Luxray was at least 2x the size of the first! "That!" She yelled "Human! what are you doing in our home! You will not steal our daughter from us!" "Wait you-" Brian said before being cut off by a thunderbolt. The boy was now lying on the ground... paralyzed. "Brian!" Jenna yelled as she ran for the boy. She began to check his injuries as Sarah snapped at her parents "FATHER! What have done!" "Doing what was necessary to protect you daughter!" "But he was a friend!" "He was a human!" "But... He's not like them!" "All humans are the same, dear." Her mother explained "He can understand us!" "You're not making sense, dear" Sarah began explaining how he didn't capture her and he could understand them. Sarah even cried a few tears in fear her father would eat him. "Is this true daughter?" Her mother asked, licking away a tear. "Yes..." "Well... I'll go grab some Cheri Berries." The Male, Valor, went to the back to get a few berries. After obtaining a Cheri, he went over to Brian. Jenna, who hadn't left his side, snapped at him. "Don't come any closer or i'll rip your head off!" She yelled. This girl must really love her human... "I just need to un-paralyze him. Move aside, please." After the berry was inserted into his mouth, The un-paralyzing-ness (That's a word... maybe) process was finished, the effects started to show. First his legs, then his torso, then his head. "Jenna?" "You're awake!" "Well i was never asleep, i just couldn't move... but i tuned out everything and heard you sobbing... i'm sorry for that." He said as he gave her a hug" I-it's okay you... you big dummie." She said, sobbing into his chest After a few moments, he noticed they were in the presence of a Luxray family "Oh... uh hello..." he said to the three staring at him. "Hello, dear. I'm terribly sorry for the mishap" The mother, Astird, said before she and Valor introduced themselves. "So... Sarah, isn't there something you want to tell him... as much as i disapprove it..." Valor told his daughter "Yes, well... Brian... i know i've known you for about... an hour... but... I want to join you on you're adventure" "What?" "You know... the pokemon... thingy..." "The Sinnoh pokemon league?" "Ya! I knew i heard it somewhere..." "So... you're serious?" "Much to my dismay... Sarah want's to join you. Can she?" Valor said "If you really want to Sarah... You can join me." Brian said before he was tackled by the Shinx "Yay!" She said as she snuggled into his neck. Jenna looked on with a angered jealousy. Her little yellow circles began to emit electricity. After the hugs were over, Valor pulled Brian aside. "Listen, Byron-" "Brian" "Whatever. I need you to listen and to listen well. I know my daughter will be harmed fighting... but if you even blink wrong at her, i will find you and eat you alive" "Oh... I - I promise you i won't let her be harmed" "I can tell you won't, you seem like a good... human. It's just i'm worried about my daughter going into that world... But i know it'll mature her. Please, keep my daughter safe" "I promise, sir" "Good" "Now, you three will leave in the morning. I will lead you early in the morning to your campsite and there we will say our goodbyes" The re-joined the group after their little chat and talked more about what Brian would expect of Sarah and where they were going, as well as some general information she would have to know. After all that, everyone went to sleep. End of Chapter 2
