I feel like there's some sort of moral in here...

Well, this is my first dialogue poem. It's kind of more of a rough draft, and I may change things later, depending on my mood.

Just got in the mood to write something, and this is what came from it. Please comment and tell me what you think! :)

Once Said

The cruelest man alive once said

To an old man of Ember's Bed:

"Now, see here, you old and ugly, lonely man

With all of my power, I will destroy your clan

For every man, woman and child

There will be a death made by beasts wild

All of the buildings, crop, and game

Will be put to the test versus flame

All your prayers and all you hold dear

Will be stricken with doubt and stricken with fear

I am powerful in my own right

My body's strength and vengeful sight

Will make sure that every last person alive

In your clan, will surely die."

The cruel man said this with a sneer

He knew he had won the battle here

The old man just sighed and sipped his tea

And said words that were neither a prayer nor a plea:

"Young man, I'm sure what you do is cruel

And I know that there's nothing I can do

To stop such unprovoked violence,

And I know my words won't make a difference.

And even though everything to me will be lost

At least I have not paid such a dearly cost

For I have things that you never will

Friends, family, and love, with no desire to kill.

I am lonely, rugged and old, that is true

But at least I never became you."

With the old man's final words, he was silent.

This angered the cruel man, and he became violent.

With unmatcheable strength, he struck him down

And nothing again was ever heard from that town.

Over time, the cruel man became old

Grew lonely, ugly, and not as bold.

However, he became other things as well.

Sad, and lonely, his thoughts only to himself.

He did not die happy and did not have a home.

He only, and sadly, died alone.

Poem #83: What If...

_What If..._ What if I told you that I lie to you? That's right, I lie to you. I know it hurts, but it's true. I'm not lying this time, I swear. But I do tell you the truth when I say I don't always tell the truth Though I always try. I lie to...

Troubles of Love, part 7

Eric sat in the back of the cafe, near a windo. He'd already downed his third cup of coffee, he was so nervous about the meeting that he was about to have. He could vividly remember the phone call he'd made a few days ago... "Hi, who is this?" ...
