A New Life in a New Body: Everyone Goes to Hell
**Lisa Age 16:
I was asked out on a date by a guy! My first date ever, we're going to go see that new romantic comedy that just came out. I can't believe that it happened. I mean it's close to the end of the year and I never thought that I'd get asked out by Jason Meddley. He's one of the more popular guys in school, to be honest I was slightly surprised when he asked, and just a little suspicious. He told me he's had a crush on me for a while. I was so excited I was already dressed and waiting for him to knock on the door.
Later that night...
The movie was just as good as I hoped it would be. Jason is a very sweet guy. He's taking me home, I think. "Uh, Jason you took a wrong turn," I inform him as he suddenly turns towards a dirt road that goes up a very large hill. There are a lot of trees and foliage along the side of it. He didn't respond so I did what I did in tense situations I started identifying the things around me by their scientific names.
"I know," he said, "I figured we'd go gaze at the stars since it's such a nice night."
"Oh! That will be fun," I said no longer nervous.
Eventually we came up to a stop with a clearing showing the city off, and above the city the brilliant stars. I started naming off the different clusters of stars that made up this hemisphere. It was really quite something as I gazed up at them. I guess I was kinda showing off my inner geek as it were, but I didn't care. Then Jason put his hand on my thigh and slowly slid it up.
Smacking his hand I demanded, "What are you doing?!"
"Aw, come on baby you're telling me you don't want to do it? Its such a romantic evening isn't it?" he said in a soft tone.
"No, I don't want to do it and if that's really why you brought me here then you can just take me home," I said crossing my arms in a huff.
"Look bitch, I'm going to have sex with you one way or another tonight, so you might as well just let me do it with you semi willingly or this will be an even more painful experience for you," he said, in a much more gruff tone and much more demanding.
As he proceeded to do just like he said he was, against my will he took what in many cultures is considered a precious thing. As the pain grew something happened things grew more and more light almost like something was glowing. Then what seemed like years of pain and suffering were suddenly brought to the surface making the glow more intense. Then all of a sudden it was all released and Jason was no longer hurting me. I saw the night sky one last time before I passed out.

After finishing helping Klaw load up the transports that came I pulled out a new set of clothes and changed before walking off across the dusty ground. It wasn't long before I heard what I thought was a bird whistling behind me. Ignoring it I continued walking, but eventually it was long after any bird would have grown bored of following me. Turning I saw Tera walking along behind me with a small army of pebbles surrounding her feet, erasing our footsteps. "Oh, you turned around."
"Shouldn't you be with Klaw and the others?" I asked.
"I'm human, sorta, and you're walking away from them. It's you that saved me, not any of them."
"They helped, really I'm not that great a being to hang around," I said.
"Did I say you were great? If so then my memory must be faulty because I don't remember saying or implying anything of the sort. Besides, I like you, you're... not good, but not bad either. You're a happy medium." She said while laughing to herself at what was apparently funny.
"You realize I'm headed towards a city right?" I asked, "place is probably crawling with sniffers."
"So? you're the fur, not me. I've lived on the streets my whole life, I always make due. So is there any genuine problem with me coming or are you just trying to ditch me?" she asked while the pebbles started moving in some pattern.
"They can sense anything that isn't human, like you, had you lived in an apartment they'd have bugged your phones read your mail and otherwise invaded your privacy," I said.
Shaking her head she said "You're wrong, there are special sensors to find us, but sniffers don't. And those sensors are expensive, they don't just hand them out for no reason. I'm mostly human, but I'm not a fur, the genes are different. I don't know if they wanted me because I don't have a gene or because I do have a gene. But I do know they thought I was stupid, because I refused to talk or even scream when they put hallucinogens in me. Those of us that are 'elements' get aspects of those elements. No one is more stubborn than the earth."
Sighing I said, "You're not going to leave me be are you?"
"No reason to do so." she replied cheerily before starting to hum.
"Okay, anything you'd like to discuss? I mean if you're not going to leave me alone we might as well talk." I said.
"Why was there so much hostility between you and that white lizard?" She asks while continuing to hum her tune.
"She's always like that. The truth is I still love her though I feel like right now she needs to be with someone else, she doesn't get it." I said.
A pebble shot along and I heard a squirrel squeak before falling to the ground, "Seemed to me like she was calm but you were shouting, so to speak. Why is that?"
"She keeps throwing herself into dangerous situations. She's going to end up killing herself and the egg." I said.
"While wasting three lives would be a shame, I don't think she was trying to kill herself, she seemed in control even though she was out of your control. She's with the black and blue lizard isn't she?"
"Were you a therapist or something?" I asked.
Shaking her head she says "I can read people, dunno how to describe it. I can't hear thoughts or emotions or the like, those are things the scientists asked, but I just 'know' stuff by seeing them. There are little things I can explain, like how the white one and the blue and black one looked at each other, that slight smirk the white one had while looking at you that showed she had a past with you. She was happy that you cared enough to yell, but she thought you were being ridiculous. But there are other things I can't explain, like how I knew she was bringing life about. And not one but two at that. I just know." Shrugging she finishes with "There are limits but I don't really understand them."
"Look I lost her once, I don't want to lose her again.
"Liar, you gave her up. So what's the real reason why you did that, because you haven't told anyone the full details have you?"
"I don't want to talk about this," i said.
Shrugging again she walks ahead to pick up the squirrel, "So can you cook then?"
"Not really," I lied.
"Liar, but fine, if you don't want to cook it then this will have to do." Several of her pebbles came over and merged into one knife shaped rock. Cutting the squirrel open she started eating it raw.
"If you can find me some rabbit, salt and a few spices i could make a small campfire and make a good meal," I offered, "If you're really that hungry."
Taking it away from her mouth she shook her head and said "I need the fluids, not the meat. Blood is a poor substitute for water but it works when you haven't had more than a single cup of water each day for weeks."
Digging out a canteen from my bag I said, "Here, drink this."
Taking it she drinks around half before handing it back to me. "Thanks, we should find a stream to refill that soon though." At this point I notice her pebbles are moving in a more lively manner, as if they are sedated when she is.
"There's got to be one close by judging by the animals, as well as game trails, we'll stop there," I said.
Shrugging she replied "Okay." Taking another bite out of the little meat on the squirrel she tossed it aside to be consumed by a carrion eater.
"So what can you tell just by looking at me?" I asked.
"You resent being told what to do. You have a kid you never knew about and fatherhood is weighing on you heavily. Life means a lot to you even though you have taken so many. You're in love but don't want to hurt her. You're no longer sure who to trust. Oh, you don't know if you should trust me, well I get that a lot. You lived in the country as a kid and still don't trust people from the city because they're born liars in your eyes. Is that enough for now?"
"Quite, now what makes you so certain that following me is a good idea?" I asked.
"Because you know you're doing the right thing. Don't know how you know, don't know why you feel that way, it's just true." She said while starting to walk backwards, her pebbles flowing ahead of her. She seemed to know the terrain that her pebbles touched without having to look at it.
"Most would call it insane, I'm going back to talk to my ex. Break into her apartment and confront her, obviously cut the phone lines, cut power to her apartment or at least take out all of the lightbulbs. Not exactly sane," I finished.
"But why?" she asked with a curious expression.
Shrugging I said, "Prove to her I wasn't lying. Closure of sorts if you will."
"But why all the trouble, why not just talk to her. If I'm there then won't she at least believe you aren't dangerous since I'm a human standing next to you?"
"I never said it was right, and to be honest I haven't decided if I'm going to spare her." I said.
"Don't kill her, you'll regret it. You even regret killing some of the people in there where I was and they were a direct threat to you."
"Doesn't mean I can't, just means I have some sort of moral value after all this time." I said.
"Don't lose yourself to be who they want you to be." she said before turning around to face front once more.
"What? a monster like they claim us to be? Never," i said.
"No, just another pawn, that is who they want you to be. Manipulated, controlled, and then right before you get to change to a more powerful piece, they end it."
"Maybe you're trying to manipulate me," I said.
"Of course I am, everyone is in some way. But you can see in my actions exactly how far ahead I care. If you don't want to help me get back to a city then just shoot me and end it." Her tone was still seemingly light hearted but there was a bitter edge under it.
"As far as I'm concerned you're a civilian and I never kill civilians. Though I still think they'll be after you," I said.
"Anymore, you have in the past though right?" she asked with an inquisitive look on her face.
"A few times, they were armed, and I was being manipulated, I wouldn't have if they weren't armed though," I said.
Shrugging she said "Well everyone has done things they regret, I know that feeling quite well..." As she trailed off I knew there was something she was leaving out.
"True enough, though you're young and a civilian, and there hasn't been an official war declared on us just yet. Just a bunch of senseless killing." I said trying to imply the question without saying it.
Shaking her head she said "Civilian, that really is quite a stretch you know. Even the daughter of the president isn't immune to what is being called 'scientific inquiry.'" her fingers making air quotes as she said the last part.
"Not exactly scientific, its based on religious bullshit they made up to unite the countries." I said spitting on the ground.
Starting to laugh and holding it for a second before flat out cracking up she said "Oh that is rich, jeeze they really do have everyone fooled, even those they tricked into killing and then continuing the absurdity when they go to the 'other side.'" Her air quotes again, what does she know that I don't though?
"I didn't think the 'Presidante' would be allowed to know much let alone his offspring," I said.
"Offspring, now that is one hell of a way to refer to me... oops..." She said before dancing out of range of my immediate springing distance.
"Ok fess up. No more games." I said stopping in my tracks.
"Well just what I said, I'm the President's daughter. I have powers so the 'evil overlords' took me for experimentation. They faked my death and everything, it happened years ago, and I look quite different now. This is my, hmm, fourth or fifth escape, I'm not sure how to count it." Her answer was surprising but more so was how nonchalant she was about it all.
"Hmm... Sounds like you have some sort of locator on you. I'd take a knife and start probing you for it but I ain't got the time," i said, "Makes me wonder where though."
Putting a hand over her neck she winced for a moment before I saw a cloud tiny rocks pulling a chip out. "They can't put it any closer to the center of my mass or my whole electromagnetic field thing blows it. Makes using things like cell phones a teeny problem."
"Are you sure they didn't put it in something? It could possibly be anywhere to tell you the truth." I said.
She shrugs and takes her shirt off before I can respond, leaving her in a white sports bra and pants saying "Feel free to look, but I've never felt anything else in me, and no scars anywhere else either. If you want to check further just ask, not like I have anything to hide."
"Uh... I think we'd best just ditch the clothes, at a more convenient place however. So please keep everything else on, even though I wouldn't mind a bit of a show I think you've earned your privacy." I said motioning for her to put her top back on.
Doing so she shrugged again, "They've had me since I was six, that was twelve years ago."
"Another reason I'd prefer not to see you completely naked." I said.
"Whatever, far be it from me to question your intentions. I just know you're doing what's right, like I said."
"So you trust me?" I asked, "That's a first. Come on lets get going shouldn't be too much longer to the river." Moving forward i didn't stop to let her respond to anything just ignored her, her behavior getting more, well it was growing on me.

Hearing a ripping sound I saw an unfamiliar figure standing over me and heard him mumbling about the terrible quality of the clothes. Feeling his hands on me I grunted and said "No."
Looking at me he said "What the hell, she's waking up. Dude, give me a sedative."
Seeing another hand reach over with a syringe I screamed "No!" and felt the anger rise up. As the man leaning over me reached forward I felt something snap and then his jaw suddenly had an indent in it and his head snapped to the side. Before he finished reacting though his body went limp and just collapsed to the floor. The other reached over and crossed into my sight before suddenly going limp as well.
It felt like hours that I was trapped in the room with their bodies. When two suited figured enter and saw that one of them was a man I felt the anger again. But this time nothing happened. "Tell the boss that the neutralizer works. Our experiments on subject code named Tera have yielded good results." Raising a gun and pointing it at me the woman said "What they did shouldn't be allowed again, shut this place down." A blue flash hit me and I felt everything go fuzzy.
********
Roslyn
Putting her down on the gurney that had been brought out I heard the medics rushing in to check her vitals so I interrupted and said "Her heart is normal for her, she is taking rapid, shallow breaths and she hasn't seized once since the first time. The blood there is all hers but all of the cuts at the base of her scales have healed already and only her ears, nose and privates are still bleeding but it has slowed significantly. And she might be gravid."
After they listened to what I had to say they quickly double checked before starting in and checking other things. As we moved down the tunnels to the hospital one of them eventually asked "This is agent Sherri right?"
Nodding I asked "Why?"
"Her last recorded resting rate was 13 BPM, the lowest in existance. Her current BPM is 30, above her normal." He said while pointing to the mobile heart meter.
Shaking my head I said "That doesn't make sense, I've been listening to her heart the past two nights, it's the same rate now as it has been since we first were, ah, intimate."
"Well then I suppose congratulations are in order for her when she wakes up, do you know who the father might be?"
"Me, I'm agent Roslyn. And thank you for the congratulations, I'll be sure to pass them on." I responded with a sugar coating since he was starting to annoy me but it's a bad idea to snap at your doctors. At this point he closed his mouth and nodded before they arrived at the doors to the hospital. No one tried to stop me from following them into the decontamination that separated the operating areas of the hospital from the rest, they had seen enough pain already, there was no reason in here to keep loved ones seperate, just out of the ORs and a few other areas. Everyone was given light decom, it worked to keep everyone safe mentally and physically.
As they took her into the OR I felt a doctor touch me on my shoulder. Turning I saw it was one of the ones who had been around when I first turned and was getting checked over. "Hey Doc Hottie." I said, joking about what I'd heard one of the others in the hospital call him.
"Actually I got married, so people stopped calling me that. You don't look so good though, is something wrong?" he asked while taking his hand and gesturing to the chairs nearby.
Sighing I followed his lead and asked "You're the head of neuro or something like that, don't you have something better to do than check on someone you know isn't sick?"
"Not for the next half hour. So why don't we talk about why you just came in with the most infamous person of the resistance?" he asked while taking a seat next to me.
"Um, that is quite a series of events but here we go. Three days ago I retrieved the Secretary of Defense from a group of sniffers and when we got back Sherri was waiting and wanting to spar with me. She proceeded to break several bones without even trying, a couple of those were from me hitting her. We left with me still in terrible shape after that, bad idea but whatever, you know me, and her I take it." As he nodded I continued, "I figured as much, well she admitted she thought I was attractive both physically and mentally and the next night we were together. She was relieved that I was a hermaphrodite since she had never been with a girl before. Rather interesting given her personality in my opinion."
"Well she's aggressive, and her general attitude does fit the general preconceptions of liking girls. But you should know as well as any, don't judge a book by the cover it appears to have. Covers can always be changed." He was smiling at me and you could see why he was called Doc Hottie, perfectly maintained hair and fur. White, straight teeth and eyes with crinkles from smiles. And also the only monkey I'd ever actually seen, changed or not. I think he was the only changed monkey anyone had seen.
"Fine, yes. Even her ex said she was different. But she's completely mentally imbalanced, you've met her so I'm sure you understand. Combine a complete mental imbalance with her body completely reinventing itself and everything about this is understandable. Her childhood sucked, she's never actually grown up because you need at least some form of a childhood for that. I doubt she's ever been diagnosed with anything, even after coming here. That would mean admitting weakness." Sighing I didn't know where to go next.
"So, things happened against all odds and you're in love with her too, but you don't know what to do. She is complex and amazing, she's stubborn and stronger than you, and you love her."
Nodding I said "Yeah, and I was just told earlier, twice in fact, that she's gravid."
Whistling he said "Wow, so what are you going to do?"
"Be with her, and find out who screwed up my screening about being sterile in my male half. I think maybe I'll show them why you don't screw up something that important." I was hissing after I said the first three words.
Holding up his hands he said "Woah, go see Dr. Renard, he's the subject of your anger. And I think I'll go just to see that you don't kill him too quickly."
Gesturing I said "Lead the way Doc, we have a doctor to choke with his own manhood." As he lead the way I wondered how this would all turn out, because everything was going to be different, again.
******** Sherri
Looking around I shouted "Where the hell am I?"
There was giggling nearby before a pair of voices said "With us!"
Getting annoyed I asked "Where is that?"
"Why in you of course!" the pair of voices said before giggling more, this time I was certain they were little girls voices.
"That doesn't make any sense, how can I be with you if you're in me. How can you be in me?"
"Well isn't that plainly obvious?" they asked, "We are yours, as you are ours!"
Growling I said "Only Blueberry and me are this cryptic, I hate Mike sometimes. He was right wasn't he, I'm gonna have kids." Pausing for a moment I shouted "Fuck!" Everything flashed before my eyes and I thought I saw tiling before crashing back down into the darkness. Shaking my head I said sarcastically "That was very pleasant."
I saw two little human girls now standing before me. They had tri-colored hair with the two inch middle being a purple blue the color of blueberries, there were twin white tan colored stripes half an inch wide on each side of that with the rest of their hair on both sides being the same bloody red as mine. Their eyes were interesting, the one on the right had a right blue eye and a left purple eye, and the left one had a red right eye with an orange left eye. But the most stunning thing was their skin, their skin was porcelain white like my scales. "So is this your real appearance later or my mental image superimposing details from Blueberry and me?"
They shrugged and said "We'll see soon I guess."
"How are we talking?"
******** Roslyn
"That doesn't make any sense!" I groaned as they tried to explain it again.
"She's pregnant, but you're sterile, every test we do says so. At least the male part of you is, under normal circumstances. Sherri is a medical miracle beyond comparison, what is sterile in every other circumstance must be fertile for her. I can't explain it any other way." Dr. Renard said while cowering.
"Okay, I think you've scared him enough Roslyn." Hottie said while pulling me back so that his co-worker could escape.
"Why did you do that?" I asked after I was certain that Renard had left earshot.
"Because you had already taught him a lesson, it was kinda the wrong lesson since he wasn't wrong. But it was a lesson."
Before he could say anything else a nurse found us and said "We need to talk to you about Sherri, both of you."
Confused I followed her and said "He's neuro, what could you need him for right now?"
"She woke up for a split second, and there is something strange about her pregnancy." the nurse said while leading us down several hallways. When we got there I saw Sherri's room had a lot more x-ray screens and other ways of looking at the inside of her body than normal.
"Okay, I'm the neuro guy but I don't see a single shot of her head up here. So why am I needed?" Hottie asked as he looked around, I just stayed by the doorway, she looked so vulnerable, she was so small for how powerful she was. Most changed got bigger, so her remaining her height was strange. Her shirt was off and I saw a noticeable bump in her perfectly muscled stomach. The number of wires and such attached to her stomach were odd in my experience.
Pointing at something on the shot of her spine the guy I remembered as the trauma specialist said "She has a secondary connection running along her spine and connecting to her eggsack, it looks like a growth of her cerebral cortex. We actually haven't been able to get a shot of the eggsack clearly, it has a density through the roof and keeps messing with every test we try."
******** Sherri
"I'm crazy, none of this is real. It can't be, the last thing I remember is wanting to protect Blueberry no matter how much it hurt to go that fast. I think I was smiling because she was still safe. I must be in a coma but because I'm so frequently meditating when I have nothing to do it affected my comatose mind."
The world seemed to change around me as I sat down and started meditating. "Well that's different. I've heard some masters of meditation say they can change the world they see but never this drastically."
I heard the twins giggling again as they said "This is our world, everything is without external influence in here."
"Okay, you two are seriously creeping me out. Is that how I sound when I pull this crap about me knowing more? God damn, you're only two days old, you don't have personalities. You two are basically parts of my subconscious keeping me distracted. So Silent Woman, where are you?"
She appeared then, dressed in a white death gown, similar to the one my foster mother had been buried in. Her eyes were the same void as well. But she had a similar figure as my adoptive mother. It was a figure that reminded me of caring mothers. But her hair, she had long red hair just like my birth mother. "It hurts doesn't it."
Nodding I said "This world is a mess, I don't really want to bring kids into this world. But I don't want to kill them either, that is my choice."
Nodding she smiled at me, she reminded me so much of all three of my mothers. None of them had been perfect, but they had all tried to do what they thought was best for me. No one is perfect, certainly not me. But it made sense why she was hanging around now, she was my maternal instinct taking form in my psychotic psyche.
Feeling a sudden pain I found myself being dragged out of their realm and back into mine. Looking around I saw I was in the Mountain hospital and Blueberry was standing by the door until she noticed I was looking at her and smiling. As the world started to get blurry she said "She's awake, and crying? What's the matter hun?"
Coming over to sit down next to me she wiped my eyes and grabbing her hand I said "I'm just so happy, you're here, and they're here." Taking her hand I moved it down to my belly, which I noticed was actually rounding slightly, "Okay, that's new. I thought I was only like two days pregnant."
"You are, your body has been taking all of the energy you use normally and we suspect it is causing hyperfast development and you are also creating a bone shell around it that is even denser than your bones. So we've been having a hard time due to the size of it in getting any good scans. But there is something strange..."
Interrupting I said "I'm connected to them mentally, they're twins. And if that mental image is right, they're quite unique. Maybe more-so than me, they were incredible. They're brilliant, I know that doesn't make sense but they were absolutely brilliant." Turning to Roslyn I said "They're beautiful baby girls, and they're so much like you. They're energetic and excited but sane and rational. And I met her finally, the new woman that replaced Alvar."
Shaking his head Dr. Shep said "Okay, she's fine for now, everyone leave them be. Sherri, we should talk about this new person later."
As he went to leave I said "Stay, we'll talk now, I can tell both of you at the same time."
Looking at each other for a moment they both just stayed where they were. Taking a breath I said "She's my maternal instinct. In other words, while Alvar tried to destroy me mentally and emotionally for whatever warped reason my mind had come up with, she will do any and everything to keep me and them alive. Including telling me things I can't know."
Looking at each other again for a moment Roslyn turned back to me before saying "Hun, what do you mean things you can't know?"
Frustrated that she hadn't seen it I groaned and just glared at the woman standing there behind the two of them suddenly, "Like earlier, I was prepared for everything, and I knew that I wouldn't get hurt doing any of that stuff, at least not mortally."
Sitting down now Dr. Shep said "But you said before that she doesn't talk to you."
"She doesn't need to, we just understand each other, she's in my head. Unlike Alvar she isn't shielding or hiding herself from me, if she wants me to know something, then I know it." I could see from his face that he didn't believe or understand so I turned to Roslyn. "Earlier, you wanted to know who told me to give Mike the rocket launcher, it was her."
Looking at each other they both finally said "We believe you," with Roslyn continuing with "I trust your judgement."

Upon reaching the river Tera used her ability and tossed several fish coated in mud around to the ground around her, "You do like fish right?"
"Does a bear shit in the woods?" I asked sliding my pack off, and looking for the set of of clothes I'd packed. Finding them I set them down on the rock next to her, "They're going to be very loose but should be suitable."
Nodding she said "Start a fire, since it seems to bug you I'll change over there." Pointing to a cluster of tight trees.
"Alright, make sure to lose the undergarments, they're GI. Wouldn't trust em as far as i could throw em'." I said.
Walking off she said "You do realize you could throw them beyond the forest probably, right?"
"Can you?" I asked.
Taking her shirt off with her back still to me she put a pebble in it and rocketed the shirt straight up. "Yes apparently." She said before turning the 'corner' of the tree cluster.
While she was over there I heard trees rustling from the opposite direction. The same way we came from. Turning I heard a gun being cocked and someone saying "Tera, just come out and we don't have to hurt you again."
Heading to where the voice came from I growled loudly "Like hell you will!"
Grunting the voice said "So she found a protector, wouldn't be the first time we had to kill someone to get her back. You realize we don't need those chips she keeps taking out right, they're dead before we even put them in. We follow her personal electromagnetic field, the thing is huge on sensors. We can follow her no matter what you do, so leave, and keep living." He came through the trees that had been hiding him.
Reacting quickly I pull a knife from my pocket and throw it at the very poorly armored neck. The head snapped back instantly, "You guys know I can't die right? I have to admit it has an advantage over you."
I felt a round go straight through my heart and collapsed, "Survive a fifty cal to the heart fucker, that was my brother..." I saw him walking toward me before I blacked out.
When I regained my vision Tera was in mid fall. Looking around I didn't see the other, must be behind her. Moving quickly and quietly I grabbed the dead one's assault rifle, and waited for him to get closer. As I saw his head show up I used my weight and knocked his ass down to the ground. "Miss me fucker? I missed you." I said slamming the butt of my gun into his face, caving it in. "Tera get going!" I yelled.
Grabbing the fish with her hands rather than her powers she also ran over and took the first dead merc's bag before I saw her finally start using her powers again, at the same time she started breathing easily again. Taking the merc's belt she cut a new notch in it and put it on before saying "Sorry, I can't use my abilities when I get stressed, and those two have been my handlers until now. Any time I escaped, they were the ones that came after me."
"I don't like that, that was way too quick, especially considering the condition we left the facility. Plus it sounds like they'll keep searching for you," I said picking up their corpses and taking what would be useful before throwing them in the fast flowing river. Pulling a knife out i said, "Come here a sec."
Walking over she asked "What are you thinking?"
"I'm going to cut the excess of these pants so you can run if we need to. I want you hidden by me, high powered rifles on handlers searching for you, thats not right." I said grabbing the pants.
Picking up a foot she said "Yeah, you're like two or three feet taller than me, they don't fit well. As for the rifle thing, like I said, you don't seem to know the whole of the situation. This isn't about religion."
"Well I have a son I've never met being kept somewhere being tested upon by these monsters. To kill someone i still very much care about. Alright, the other one now please," I said.
Picking up her other foot without putting the first down I realized she was sitting on a cloud of pebbles. "This is about advancing the world's genetic engineering, you aren't some random evolutionary fluke."
"Nor am I on purpose, how many other mythological creatures have you seen running around with the abilities I have?" I said, finishing the second.
"Three, well four if you count the demonic mouth, but you five are the reason they wanted to cause this all. But if you really got shot through the heart a moment ago, then you are the 'strongest', so to speak." She said.
"I did, blew myself up with a rocket earlier too." I said.
Opening her mouth for a moment she eventually said "Well thats a new one."
"I've died quite a bit recently, got to admit dying doesn't hurt much anymore. I think its something to do with where I grew up, Alright see how that looks, stand up." I said.
Dropping back to her feet she stood and said "Nice cut job," the cloth of the pants was hanging about five inches from the ground.
"Ready to head to The Mountain?" I asked.
Shaking her head she said "You aren't, you have somewhere to be, and I won't let my problems stop you."
"Fuck my plans alright? I saw too many kids killed when I was in the service and you know that I'd rather take a shotgun blast to my fucking head then let them lie another hand on you." I said.
"I heard what that guy said though. They can track me down because of my power, they won't kill me, but they will kill anyone that gets in the way of getting me back. This Mountain you mentioned, code name for a place, a base maybe?" she asked while gathering up the fish again with her pebbles.
"Its been enough to hide a whole resistance and its impervious to nuclear strikes, I think we could hide you." I said.
Crossing her arms she made a wall start to rise out of the ground between us. Glaring at me she said "I will not put your people in danger. They said that they can track me no matter what, because of my electro-magnetic signature. That isn't completely true though. Power generation creates electromagnetic fields right? Right, so that is my goal, I'll make a home under a dam or nuclear reactor. I would like to see them storm that."
"You're sure?" I asked.
Shaking her head she said "Not at all, but I am certain that they won't be so cavalier about storming a hole four feet from a nuclear reactor."
"Alright, lets get to the city then theres one not too far from there. You're a good kid you know?" I said.
Shrugging she said "I'm looking out for myself, albeit in a way that means I don't endanger anyone else. You've never seen what happens when an earth mover has a headache, it isn't pretty for other people."
"Let's get going," I said resuming the path towards the city, "I promise they won't hurt you again so long as I live, and after this god forsaken war is over I'll come looking for you."
Laughing to herself she just kept walking behind me with her rocks carrying a bag.
"You think of a funny joke or something?" I asked.
"No, you said something funny, nothing more."
"What about it was funny?" I asked.
"The idea of god forsaking a war, just like the idea of god blessing something, just like the idea of god existing. I am not one abandoned by god, I am not one chosen by god. I am merely lucky, or unlucky, in what genetics I have. Because god, god obviously doesn't exist. Or else I wouldn't have been kept like a pet for most of my life." she said with fire in her voice, but it wasn't anger.
"You know I have a son thats had the same problem his whole life." I said. "I'm going to save him too."
"Her son, he's also your son." she said plainly.
"Implying something there?" I asked.
"No, just saying, she was looking for something, and you just told me what. I know that he's your son, just like he's hers as well." Pausing for a moment she asked "Do you want me to be implying something?"
"Seems like you know me better than I do, so have you seen him before?" I asked.
"I saw someone that was like you two but also like a robot, even more so than the sniffers. But he was only a couple years older than me, and that would be too old to be your son. You would have been twelve when he was conceived, and somehow I doubt that they've had him for twenty three years."
Climbing up a sheer rock wall I turned back around and offered her my paw, "He's young, younger than you. They're trying to create another of her, with one difference."
"Her personality, her freedom from the rule of others, even those that mean the world to her. They want that gone but to retain her powers." Pausing and just walking straight up the wall when I reached out a paw to her she said "No, they want her power with your obedience..."
"I turned on them though," I said standing up, "He could do the same."
"You turned on them after they made moves against you and her... They think they've learned better this time how to control it. Because a drone doesn't work, they need the ability to think in real time with different variables." Pointing at me she said "You don't know if you could stop an army of someones with your and her abilities."
"I'll kill my son if i have to to prevent that, killing children isn't something I want to do but I've done it before." I said.
Shaking her head she said "That isn't what I meant, they got your and her new DNA from that attack on the facility. She has some unknown physical ability, at least in terms of limitations, and you can recover from anything. Those two put together into one soldier, that would be unstoppable."
"I've died a lot in the past few days, they can't replicate that, no matter how hard they try. I also have something their soldiers won't, the willingness to do what needs to be done." I said.

Lisa
Hearing something at the door I turned as it opened and heard his voice before I saw him. "Hey Lisa, sorry to worry you so much."
Jumping out of my chair I ran over to Klaw and gave him an over dramatic hug, "Klaw! Oh my god, I'm so glad you okay."
Grabbing me in a big hug we spun around before he put me down, "So how badly did things go after I was captured, was Sherri working solo practically or what?"
"Sherri stabbed Mike" I said, "Sum it up?"
Whistling he said "That would explain some of the tension between them. Sherri is in the hospital..."
"And Mike?" I asked.
"Gone, he left before the extraction vehicles even left there."
"Thats odd, any idea why?" i asked.
"Roslyn said something over the radio before taking the chopper Mike had arrived in, to tell you that 'he would be where it all started'." Pausing for a moment he said "I'm sorry, I was busy helping the other escapees when it happened, I don't know anything else."
"That could mean dozens of places!" I yelled.
"The man is a military trained operative, he said it because you know what he means. It's why we're still people, because we can understand those we love, even when both of us are scared that everything is about to change."
"Its one of two places," I said after a minute thinking on Klaws words.
Waiting Klaw said "And?"
"Bad or worse possibility first?" i asked.
"Hell first." He said stubbornly
"The city he lived in, or the shack we found him hiding out in," I said.
"The city it is then, because the shack is gone." Klaw said morosely, "They bombed it after we got out to try and catch us in the blast."
"Its a suicide attempt now, the whole damn place would be on high alert, with sniffers everywhere and heavily armed militants running around, bad idea for us we wouldn't last five minutes." I said.
"Suicide for a man who can't die, seems like just the mission for our 'favorite' operative that we keep leashed to make." Klaw said with a sarcastic smirk, something that was a little scary from his big bear face.
"Shes going to hate it as much as we even suggesting it." i said.
"Well, she's said it herself, she isn't smart enough for suicide missions to phase her. But tracking someone through a city full of people who supposedly all want to kill her, well thats her definition of a good day."
"I don't like it you said they were on bad terms as it is, what if they try killing each other and end up destroying a whole city block?" I asked.
"Okay, but she's on bad terms with everyone, Sherri will just have to get over her problems and deal with planning a mission for Renee. Renee won't like it, but at least she will admit that Sherri's plans don't fail, at least never as drastically as the last time I planned a mission for her."
"Two immortals killing each other through a densely populated city isn't what we need!" i said.
"Two immortals?" he asked, confusion evident before he read my mind and said, "No, Sherri is hospitalized, she's just planning it, only you and Renee are going on this mission. This isn't a rescue mission, this isn't a black op, this is you going after the love of your life, with the only one in the world who can track him."
"Don't be stupid Klaw, we both know hes one major incident from flipping his lid."
"And you're suggesting that I just leave him in the middle of the third biggest city on the planet, even she would call that a bad move."
"They're both bad moves, we can't make any good moves either we preserve one of our top trackers by keeping her here or we risk her in the damn field to a sniffer or a... with Mike idunno."
"How about I choose myself?" Renee asked from behind me, in the vent of all places.
"Renee, when... I still can't read you even after all this time." Klaw said, "Do you understand what you would be doing?"
"Not in a round hog's daytime shadow, but I'll do it." She said while crawling out of the vent before crashing onto her back on the floor.
"Klaw... the mental reports about Mike never coved anger... and they tried a lot of methods to get him to lose it...." i said.
"He isn't Sherri, he has control to such a degree..."
"An iceburg hitting four titanics is more likely?" Renee put in from her spot on the floor.
"...Well, yes, to put it succinctly in a strange way." Looking back at me he put his paws on my shoulders and said "Lisa, we can't risk him losing it, if he has that much control, he is an even bigger wildcard than Sherri. Because that means that she would have interrupted anything that would have made him angry while they were partners."
"If Renee dies because you wouldn't listen..." i started.
"Then it's Renee's fault for not listening, since Renee was here the whole time, also, Klaw is there, and Mike is that way." Renee interrupted before pointing her left arm at Klaw and her right arm almost straight out from her right side. Getting up she started out the door.
"You know what I was going to say." I said to Klaw before following her.

Roslyn
As Sherri finished explaining everything that had been happening I saw her shake her head. After a few more moments I started hearing the same thing she had probably been hearing for a lot longer. Finally getting annoyed Sherri grabbed the side table and threw it through the door, revealing Renee and Lisa being dragged along behind her.
"Hi, Klaw said you should plan. Please plan the mission." Renee said calmly, despite the splintered door in front of her. A moment later she sidestepped a guard trying to tackle her from behind. "Mister Monkey Doctor, please help the ones that hurt themselves."
"Klaw wants Remmy and I to go to the city and... find Mike, I for one am totally agianst it." Lisa said.
"You should do it." Sherri said while pulling herself into a sitting position and shooing Doc Hottie away. As he left the room to help I wondered if Sherri really had gone crazy.
"Okay, hun, are you sure this isn't a suicide mission designed to kill someone who bugs you?" I asked her while rubbing her stomach lightly.
"Of course it's a suicide mission, I know that and they... Okay, Lisa knows that. Renee just sees a challenge of impossible tracking, no offense sweetheart."
"Was offense meant?" Renee asked before sitting very calmly on the now righted table just inside the room.
"Of course not darling, Lisa, you understand what having her as a team mate means right?" Sherri asked with daggers lacing her voice.
"Hence the reluctance." she said.
"She's smart, at least in her way. I've worked with her on two separate occasions, her mind is brilliant, but she can't express it. I'm sure that if we could observe her thoughts, we would see that she thinks far more complicated thoughts than we give her credit for. She has mirrors on her boots still even after the change gave her that gift. She... yeah, I'll make your plan now. Where do you think he is?"
"Forty seven miles, three hundred and fourteen meters that way." Renee said while pointing to one of the walls.
Smiling sweetly, which was strange, Sherri said "Renee, do you know the name of the area?"
Shaking her head she said "Not a clue of where a feather is in a blizzard."
Nodding Sherri said "Lisa, where did the information lead you to believe he would be going?"
"BFC." Lisa said bluntly.
Whistling Sherri said "Blessed Franklin City, that place is huge, and if he's that far away, it means he's on the near west side. You're going to have problems, but I've got a plan for you to follow, well, a guideline."

Mike
Looking at the ghetto nearest to us, I knew that we would have trouble, there was already a couple dozen sniffers heading our way.**
