There are many things we don't know about in the mysterious world of the military, Project Draco is one of them. I was recruted into this project against my own will at the age of 14. My life went from normal to dodging bullets everyday of my life. You could say that I know death personally. But when you have wings, scales, talons, and can breath fire, you already have a target on your head It's just a matter of time. This is the story of my life, as a Project Draco recruet............as a dragon.

I froze, not knowing what to do. My mind was conflicted, my brother was sitting right next to me and he had no clue that I was his brother. He stopped playing, took his dog tags off of his neck and tossed them to me. I didn't notice it at first, but there was a locket attached to the chain. "That's my dad, mom, and brother." he said before starting to play again.

I opened the locket and inside was a picture of me, my mom, and dad. "after my brother was taken, my dad was KIA, and my mom committed suicide." he said making my heart stop and a sharp pain rip through my chest. "They died because of me." I thought to myself. "It was hard, burying both my parents on the same day, but I made a promise to become the best of the best for them, and well.....I made it."

I jumped up and stormed out of the room, into the darkness. I started to walk away from the barrack and to the runway, not sure of what was real anymore, not sure of what I was. I passed a light pole and swept my paw at it in anger, easily knocking it down. I then turned to a hanger that I had been walking beside and slammed my paw into it multiple times before breaking down in tears.

FIREDRAKES POV

"After my brother was taken, my dad was KIA, and my mom committed suicide." Sam said. I glanced over to Taro who was looking like he had been hit by a train. "It was hard burying both my parents on the same day, but I made a promise to become the best of the best for them, and well.....I made it." Taro jumped up and ran out of the room.

I watched him go and then looked over to Sam. "What did I do?" he asked in a confused tone. "I'm not sure." I replied before standing and going after him. I exited the building as a loud crashechoud from the darkness, telling me where he was. I started to walk toward the noise and passed a knocked down light pole. Whatever was bothering Taro, had him good.

I turned down an alley and saw Taro laying on the ground with his paws over his head. "Taro, what's wrong?" I asked as I approached him. "Is all my fault, they would still be alive if it weren't for me!!" he said quietly. His voice was shaking and I could easily tell that he was crying. "What are you talking about ?" I asked him. He stood and locked his angry gaze with mine. "Sam's my brother."

TARO'S POV

?

"Sam's my brother." I said to Firedrake. Is eyes widened then closed as he let his gaze drop to the ground, "So, that means that your parents are dead." he said in a fearful tone. He looked up at me and said quietly, "Come on, lets go." I started to walk back toward the barrack with Firedrake by my side. When we made it back, Sam, Joseph and Aaron were all outside waiting on us.

"Sam," Firedrake called out, "Taro needs to talk to you." Sam approached me and Firedrake left my side to stand with Aaron and Joseph. "Listen, whatever I said, im sorry." Sam said in a censer tone. "Its not what you did, its what I did." I replied. Sam gave me a confused look and opened his mouth to reply, "Its me, Jack." I said cutting him off.

"No, there's no way! My brother was kidnapped." he said in a surprised tone. I looked him in the eye's and replied calmly, " You were driving a blue 2004 Honda civic when we went to the recruiting station in Olive Branch Mississippi. I was looking at a Guns & Ammo magazine, and the last words you said to me were 'See you in a bit Jack'." I stated. His eyes widened and he whispered my name before jumping at me, hugging my neck so tightly that I thought he was going to crush my windpipe.

He released me from his grip and stepped away. His eyes were swollen and he was crying. "Oh my God, look at you!" he said barely audible due to his crying. 'You're......bigger........darker, what happened to you." "After you went into the recruitment office, a man named Abe came and started talking to me, then a man with a walker cut my leg. After that Abe sedated me and I woke up like this." I replied to him.

"Man, after you went missing, I looked around town, then called the police to help. After that I went home, and guess who was there?" he said tears streaming down both our faces. "Mom. She planned a surprise homecoming." Sam said. "Come on now, we need to get inside before the Warrant Officer makes his round's." Aaron said. We looked at him and walked inside.

We talked for almost the rest of the night before Sam finally passed out from exhaustion. "So, is he really you're brother?" Firedrake asked. I lay in my bed and curled into a ball, laying my head on my tail before replying, "Yes he is."

I couldn't believe it, not only had I met my brother once again, but now I was going to be fighting alongside him. I lay in my bed, thinking about how happy I was to see my brother again, and how sad I was about my parents. One thing was for sure, I wasn't going to let my brother die unless I went with him. I thought to myself as sleep took a hold on me.

I was roused by Firedrake, who was shaking me slightly. My eyes started to ease open and I could see the truck, and Flynn's lifeless body on the side of the road. "Come, on Taro, we need to move." Firedrake said as I managed to stand. "Wh....what about...
