#2 of The New Aeneas: A Modern Romance

Hello, everybody! I've been super busy with a bunch of exams and papers and such, but I've finally completed the second part of Aeneas' story. I hope that you enjoy the story and thanks for reading!

Aeneas has fallen head over heels for Sophie (a woman he has just met) and decides to chase after her. Will everything work as well as he hopes or will something arise that turns him away? Find out below!

"I guess I'll just head home", I say to myself, thinking the exact opposite. I always go home, I never risk anything. I can't let this opportunity just slip past me. Running back umder the cover of the station and pulling out my phone, I call my best friend Rob. He's a husky, a bit of a hooligan, but a good guy. He owes me for helping him with a research paper and I need to collect on that favor.

"Pick up, already!", I bark even if he can't hear me. The phone finally connects and I hear him speak, "Aeneas, what's up?". I respond, "Listen Rob, remember how I helped you with that paper on Monday...". He laughs, "Is my own best friend trying to blackmail me?". I press urgently, "No, it's not anything like that. Just do me a favor and call my parents to tell them I'm sleeping at your house tonight".

He inquires, "What's this about, bro? You never do stuff like this. I'm the wild one between us". Tiredly, I reply, "It's nothing, I just have to handle something by myself". "Do you have a secret girlfriend?", he asks. "No I...". "Don't tell me you have a boyfriend. I already called first dibs on having you be my mate. It's only fair: I've had to put up with you for years", he teases.

Forgot to mention, Rob is openly gay. I really respect him for that bravery, especially when he opened himself to the ridicule of certain jerks as school. Like I said before, I try to blend into the crowd so I'd never be able to do what he did, though some of my "experiments" with certain people (yes, including Rob, but also with others outside of school) are quite well-known.

"Oh, come on, man! Give me a little bit of privacy, will you? I'll tell you all about it later. Please do it for me, I'm begging you", I answer emotionally. "I will", he growls, "But you owe me big time, wolfie". "Yeah, whatever you want. See you, Rob", I hang up, too concerned with the present to think about the future.

Now that my parents won't call up the police because I'm not home by 7 (they're a bit protective), I can take my time preparing myself for approaching Sophie again. Finding a few dollars in the back pocket of my pants, I buy a rose from a vendor in the station and keep it secure on the inside of my hoodie. I hope I can make a better impression than how I acted on the train.

Mustering up the little courage I have, I proceed in the direction in which I saw Sophie walk. Irrationally, I think that if I follow her trail I might find her alone and express how much she means to me.

The only problem is that I'm still not sure why I feel this way. I know nothing about her and she doesn't know a thing about me. I'm usually pretty logical about this stuff, so it bothers me that can't I stop thinking about her. I'm not sure if we have anything in common, but I'm contracting pneumonia by standing out in the rain trying to find her. I think I'm either going insane or I'm actually in love. At this point, I'm afraid of both.

After a long search in the rain, my fur feels saturated in water and I can barely see a thing. Finally taking a rest to get the rain out of my eyes, I stop walking and stand in the middle of the road. I hear a yell, "Why exactly are you standing in the rain in front of my house, Aeneas?".

I look around, seeing Sophie's white fur in a second story window. That was a stroke of luck, but I really can't expect her to welcome me in to her home, "I honestly have no clue. I think I'm going crazy or something. Sorry to bother". I start walking away but Sophie calls me back, "Don't go! You're gonna catch a disease if you keep walking in this downpour. Come inside: the door's open".

I hustle underneath the awning above her door, "You realize that we know nothing about each other and you're letting a complete stranger into your house, right?". "Yep, but I have a good feeling about you", she answers. I twist the doorknob and yell once I shake some water off my fur, "Alright. I'm inside". A male wolf probably three years older than me appears out of nowhere and questions me, "Who are you?".

"I'm Aeneas. I go to school around here and I met Sophie on the train this afternoon. I'm sorry if I'm inconveniencing you", I answer honestly. Just as I finish my statement, my jaw drops as I see Sophie walking down the stairs to stand next to me in a long bath robe, her pure white fur as radiant as the moon, "Hey, Aeneas". "Umm...hi", I wave although I'm two feet away from her. The gray wolf who I'm guessing to be her brother starts to interrogate me, "Are you her friend or something?".

I back away from both of them to show that I'm not trying anything, "I don't really know. I'll leave that up to her". She addresses her brother's concern, "It's okay, Nick. He helped me on the train today. Not to mention that he looks pretty cute, especially with that blue fur".

I blush, looking at the ground shyly while speaking to her brother, "I really shouldn't have come inside. I barely know Sophie, but I feel sorta connected to her. She makes me feel like I'm special. It probably sounds stupid, but I think...". I linger here, really wanting to say that I love her, but knowing that it would probably get me kicked back into the rain. I shift back and forth nervously, asserting myself in something important for the first time in my life, "I'll admit it: I fell in love with her at first sight".

I expected either to see Sophie shocked at my confession or to feel her brother slug me in the face, but neither occurred. I ask as my tail wags slowly to show my timidity, "Did I just say what I think I said out loud?". Sophie smiles and I instantly feel better, "Do you really mean that, Aeneas?". "Yeah, I do, but how about before we jump the gun we get to know each other. So, can we be friends?", I inquire, giving her the hidden rose. She declares happily with a hug, "I'd rather be more than just friends. Now go up there and take a shower! I don't want the whole house smelling like rain water and dirty fur".

Following her instructions (more like demands), I walk up the stairs and find the bathroom which I run into and lock shut. Peeling the hoodie and pants off of my wet fur, I start running the water until I feel the steam in the room. Perfect...reminds me of home, even if I feel really awkward about showing here. I step into the shower, washing my fur and humming songs about love to myself. It's a bit cliché, but it still makes me smile. After my blue fur starts to regain its natural shine, I decide that I've showered long enough and turn off the shower head.

As I check the bathroom for a towel, I can't find a hand towel, let alone a body one. I yell, "Where are the towels?". I hear Sophie shuffle around a bit before responding provocatively, "They're all dirty. Do you mind being naked?". "Yes, I do actually! If your parents see me like this, I don't think it'll end well for me", I contest, not willing to walk around naked in a stranger's house.

She relents, "If you can make it to my room, I'll dry you up". Being left with no choice, I step out of the bathroom, covering my sheath with my hands as I follow her voice to her room. I knock on the door, "Sophie, please let me in". The door swings open and she inspects my body as I walk in, "You're really cute, Aeneas. Look how modest you are, covering yourself up for me". God, she's so beautiful. I can't resist that cute look.

Shivering from the cold water, I plead, "Sophie, I need to get dry before I get hypothermia". She takes out a blow drier and shrugs, "This is all I've got, unless you can reach for the old towel on top of my dresser". I know she can reach it. She's taller than me! It's all a ploy to see me expose myself, but I really need the towel and on some level, I'm fine with it as long as it makes her happy. I jump for the towel, covering myself quickly with it before she could really get a good look.

She smiles, obviously contented by what she saw, "I like that light blue fur down there...You know, I thought you'd be a lot more demanding, but you're fine with me having my fun with you. Here I am with nothing but a bath robe on and you aren't coming onto me. I like you: you're a considerate guy". "Thanks", I answer, then I continue the conversation, sitting on her bed, "I guess if we're going to be seeing each other, we should know about one another. So what do you want to know about me?".

"How old are you?", she asks. "18, you?". "Same", she smiles, "Orientation?". "Umm...bisexual", I answer a bit less promptly. "Yeah, I'm the same way", she looks at me inquisitively, an eyebrow raised, "Video games?". "A ton!", my eyes brighten, but then I get shy about it. "Me too", she replies and then inquires after seeing me avoid her gaze, "Are you nervous?". "Yeah, I don't want to disappoint you. I know I'm not the ideal guy over here", I answer.

"You look petrified. Are you still not sure about dating me?", she wonders. I reply, "It's not you. I'm not sure about quite a lot, actually. Probably the most courageous thing I've ever done is telling you that...that I fell in love with you". She sits next to me and jokes around, "We have a lot in common personality-wise. I think we'll have lots of fun together, once you want to ask me out officially, that is. How about I convince you to date me? Come here!". I smile back, "What do you want from me?". "A kiss", she directs me, "But a good one. Not just for a second, but muzzle in muzzle until one of us runs out of breath. I'll let you borrow some clothes if you last longer. Deal?".

"Fine", I grab her as passionately as I can and lock my muzzle with hers. Her embrace feels like a dream come true. She's right: I don't have any doubts that I want to date her, but she's so out of my league that it's amazing that she talks to me in the first place. I'm not sure why she pays attention to me, but I sure don't want to jinx my good luck. She drags me onto her bed as I paw through her short hair.

"I thought you said you weren't confident!", she pants in excitement. "I'm confident enough to prove to you how much I care about you", I answer, "You also gave me permission". She sits up, half-drooling from my kiss, "You win this round, my hero. Now that I know about you, I won't go so easy on you next time". "I look forward to it", I smile respectfully as she hands me an old sweater and some loose-fitting jeans.

She smiles, "They should fit you. You're around my size". "Thanks a lot, Sophie", I reply as I slip the clothes on, finding the women's sizes just a bit loose around my chest and butt, "From what I've seen, you're a really nice person". "I try, but you haven't seen all of me...", she answers cryptically before I hear the front door open and close, "Well, Aeneas, it looks like you're gonna meet my parents". I panic. I've never really gotten to this point in a relationship before. What am I supposed to do? She senses my anxiety, "Geez, calm down! I'll defend you if it goes south. The hero you're named after was the son of Aphrodite, you know. Here's your chance to impress them with your knowledge of love!".

She opens the door of her room and leads me down the stairs. I link her white-furred arm in my black before walking into the foyer where her parents sat. Knowledge of Love? I wish. I can make something up on the fly though. I quickly ask, "What's your last name?". She counters, "Yours first". "Lopez". "Parker", she whispers. I then enunciate, "Hello Mr. and Mrs. Parker. I'm a friend of your daughter, Sophia. Pleased to make your acquaintance". I was always a pretty good speaker.

The larger, dark grey-furred male wolf stands to size me up, accepting my outstretched paw in a powerful shake. I nod my head at the light gray-furred female wolf now standing beside him. I look at them attentively, awaiting their reaction. "It's nice to see that manners aren't dead", her father puts a heavy paw on my shoulder, half crushing me, "What's your name, son?".

"Aeneas, sir", I answer. "Well, Aeneas, are you staying for dinner? Just say the word and I'll get something for you", he anticipates my refusal, "I insist. I'm interested in learning more about you". I accept just to spend more time around Sophie, "Sounds great, then! I'll eat any leftovers you have, don't make anything special for me".

About ten minutes later, I already eaten half of pizza that Mr. Parker warmed up for Sophie and me to share. Even the way she eats is amazing to me. I think I need help...Well, anyway, Mr. Parker started grilling me about my life after finishing his own pizza with his wife, asking questions about my family (I'm an only child), my friends, my career aspirations, my background, how my fur looks like it does, and more. It feels like an interrogation than a friendly dinner.

As much as I dislike talking about myself, I just keep answering these sort of questions until Sophie tells him to take a break. She snuggles up next to me right in front of her parents, making me feel extremely uncomfortable, "You know, he caught me in mid-fall on the subway. That's when it clicked between us". "What clicked, sweetheart?", her mother asks her, interested in what transpired. "Why don't you explain, Aeneas?", she leans back.

"Sure", I answer, while giving her a look for pushing me into this, "I'm just going to be blunt and admit that I'm in love with your daughter. I wouldn't dream of going behind your back, but that's what I feel for her". Once again, I expected outrage and objection to my announcement, but it seems that people aren't that upset about me telling the truth. Maybe the truth does set you free.

Surprisingly, her father looks fine with it and even commends me, "Thanks for being honest with me. Honesty's a rare quality in this world. Keep it up and you might end up getting what I think you want". He directs his glance at Sophie, "He's a good kid. Much better than the last one you brought home. You have my approval".

Sophie unexpectedly hugs me and barely regain my balance before falling off my chair. She whispers, "Can I admit something to you before we start this off?". I take a sip of water, "Sure". "Aeneas", she pauses as if she was afraid of something. This is the first time I've seen her like this (granted, I've only known her for a few hours), "What's up?".

"Well, I'm...I'm not exactly a 'female' wolf", she chokes out. I cough as I swallow, but keep respectfully quiet, "What?". She whimpers, "I'm so sorry! I didn't tell you before because people usually either run away as soon as I tell them that I'm a hermaphrodite or just want to use me for sex. But you: you're a good guy, so give me a chance. Please, I need you!".

I feel horribly for her. She was right before; we have a lot in common and all, but this is a big deal...Oh, screw it: I've never cared what people think. If they make fun of me for it or tease me about it, I won't mind. (For instance, I'm sure that once a certain group of my friends hears about this, they'll want to know all the juicy details). It might be a bit rough in the present, but she's too beautiful to pass up, "Sophie, that doesn't matter to me. I still care about you. You're the first person that has ever made me feel this way".

"I knew I chose well!", she jumps into my arms just as I stood up and I struggle to carry her. Her parents nod respectfully at me, realizing the decision that I had made. I think I'll learn to find it normal, if it lasts that long. The important thing is that we enjoy each other now, the future can wait.

"So", I make conversation, placing her gently on the ground, "What exactly does a hermaphrodite look like?". "It's easier if I just show you. Wanna go to my room? We can have a bit more privacy there, but I can't keep you here overnight. They'd suspect something", she teases as she walks up the stairs, "Follow me, you silly wolf!". I chase her up to her room and she locks the door when I walk in. I check my watch and see that it's nine in the evening.

She slowly strips away her bath robe and allows me to look at her white-furred naked body, claiming, "I got to see you clothe-less, so here's your compensation". I see her beautiful bosom and a small piercing on her belly button made of silver. As previously admitted to me, I look down to see a medium-sized pink-colored penis above her vagina, but it really doesn't bother me that much.

Appearance isn't my main priority when dealing with love. Between her great personality and her beautiful eyes, I have no problems with the fact that she isn't the average girl. As much as it seemed weird at first, it makes her even more unique than she already was. I can't say that I'm not intrigued by it: it'll definitely make for some interesting sex...

She notices my penis slowly escaping my sheath, "Looks like someone likes the view!". She turns around and lifts her white tail seductively, showing me her tailhole and a pink heart on her right buttock. "More than like", I admit embarrassed. She begs, "Can I just see it? I swear I won't do anything more than look". I unbutton my jeans reluctantly, but with a feeling of duty, "I guess you've shown me a lot more than I've shown you. It's only fair". I drop my pants and reveal myself, blushing as she sees my large dark length twitch at her.

She smiles upon seeing it, walking closer to me, "It looks really great, Aeneas. Looks tasty too. You don't have to be so nervous, you know. No one is perfect". I pull my pants up quickly, "You are, Sophie". She laughs, "I really want to show you how 'perfect' I can make you feel, but like I told you, they'd suspect it. Can you sneak in tomorrow morning? I'll be alone for a few hours and we could...talk".

Her glance falls back on my pants and I whimper, "We haven't gone on a date yet". She rolls her eyes sarcastically, "Oh, fine! We'll go to the mall or something and then I'll take what I want from you. Happy?". "Yep", I nod. "Keep the clothes, I'll take them back when we meet up again. See you around, Aeneas", she waves at me as I move toward the door.

"Thanks for everything, Sophie", I yell as I exit her room, thinking about the exceptional luck that I've had today. Except for that stupid test this morning, everything's been going my way. Ok, maybe it was a bit of an unexpected twist when Sophie told me she was a hermaphrodite, but in the context of things, it doesn't matter. We both have feelings for each other and that's what counts.

Even if this doesn't work out, she's my first love and this is the first time that I've risked anything for anyone. It's gotta be good practice in having a relationship with somebody. The last few times I've tried...it hasn't really gone that well, but she just feels different from all those other times.

I think I might be sounding a bit pessimistic: don't get me wrong, I have a great feeling about this relationship, it's just my past few have ended quite rapidly. Maybe I was just in a slump, or maybe I was fated to find Sophie on that train...Anything is possible! I open the door and leave the house. As I wander in the darkness, the rain fades to a fog and though I may see no one around me, in my mind, I'm not alone. I have Sophie and that's all I need.
