Ra's Army
#4 of Ra's Rise (Finished)
Ra's army grow's by the minute and the only person able to oppose him is left without a army of his own. Or is he?
Derek strummed his fingers on the driver's wheel; he had been stuck in traffic for an ungodly amount of time. "Holy shit people how long does it take you to get into a fucking city?!" He laid into his horn hoping that it might somehow magically move the line of cars in front of him, but there was no such luck. Derek frowned and glanced at his watch, he had promised his boyfriend that he would be home before six but it was already six thirty. "Fuck!" He cussed violently and pushed his door open, "It's faster to walk then this shit." Derek had been rooming with his boyfriend Louis in Egypt for a year now; he had planned just to stay there for a few months so he could help out his aunt but he had soon met Louis in a coffee shop and they had quickly became friends. Not soon after that they became more than friends and Derek had decided to stay with Louis on a more permanent basis. Derek had been called out on a business call just the other day and had to stay overnight in a hotel paid for by the company, he had promised Louis that he would be back quickly but the traffic had astonished him. Derek muttered angrily to himself as he walked past cars to get into the city, "I guess I'll just have to pick up my car after this traffic jam disappears..." He muttered, as he drew near the city he noticed an odd group of people pulling people out of cars. Derek swore and slid over the trunk of a car beside him, "Those must be those terrorists that people have been talking about..." Derek thought to himself, in the past few days he had heard rumors of a terrorist group that had been making people go missing.
Derek quickly ran while he was crouching past the group of terrorists, feeling daring he quickly popped his head to see them. His eyes widened as he saw that they all seemed to be dressed in bird costumes, he quickly ducked his head down again before one of them saw him. "So the terrorists are... furries?" Derek asked perplexed, one of the dressed terrorists heard a muttering sound and walked over to investigate the sound. Derek heard the approaching footsteps and ran forwards and hid behind a car, the terrorist glanced around to see if anybody was around and saw that no one was there. Derek wiped sweat off of his forehead and suddenly had a horrifying realization, "They were coming from the direction of the city! Oh god, I hope nothing bad has happened..." When he knew that no one saw him he sprinted towards the city praying that Louis was ok, as he ran past the cars he noticed that they all were absolutely empty. There was no sign of blood or a struggle; it was as if the inhabitants had come willingly. Derek finally came into the boundaries of the city and looked around; as he looked around he saw that no one was there. He frowned in horror, whoever these terrorists were they had somehow evacuated a whole city without the notice of the public. As he looked around he felt a panic starting to build in his chest, there was absolutely no sign of anybody. There was no trash littering the ground, no cars in the street. The whole town was completely empty, this fact in itself was frightening but the silence accompanying it was making it worse. "H... hello?!" Derek called out to see if anybody answered him, to his dismay nobody answered his calls. As he looked around he suddenly noticed an odd man sitting on a bench. He was just reading a newspaper; Derek rushed over to the man. "Hello sir?" The man looked up and smiled, "Ah so there are humans left here, I wasn't exactly sure if Ra had gotten all of you yet." Derek cocked his head in confusion, "What are you talking about? Where are all of the people, and better yet why are you reading a newspaper right here?!" The man perked his lips in an innocent look, "I love reading the comics, even in the middle of a good invasion you have to love every laugh you can get." Derek looked at the man incredulously, "Seriously? You are reading a newspaper in the middle of an invasion... wait a minute did you say invasion?" The man nodded his head, "You must've just gotten here if you haven't heard about the invasion. Believe me as of this morning everyone knew about it." Derek clutched his head in his hands, "Who's invading Egypt?!" The man pointed past Derek towards the local park, "He is." Derek turned around and saw a statue that hadn't been there a day ago. Derek slowly walked up to the statue and looked upon a flacon headed man, "Are you pulling my leg? There's no such thing as a bird headed man." The man stood up and smiled, "Oh believe me I'm telling you the truth, and now I'm going to tell you. You should leave right now, if you get captured by this man he will turn you into one of his pawns." Derek gritted his teeth in anger, "Who do you think you are bossing me around?!" The man suddenly took on an angry glint in his eyes, "I am Anubis and I expect for you to respect me you filthy human!" Derek took a few steps back; the man's voice had gotten so loud that he could hear it rebounding off of the city buildings. "Oh fresla... it looks like I lost my temper... well I think we should both be getting going now." Anubis picked up his newspaper and wove his hand to Derek, "Oh and what I was saying about leaving the city, I completely meant it. Do it now." He then walked away whistling a cheery tune.
Derek waited until Anubis disappeared to run towards his hotel, "Whatever man I have a boyfriend to check in on..." As he ran through the city he noticed more and more of the statues of the mysterious man erected around the city, not only did he see those but he saw ones of another bird man. But this one like the ones outside of the city was completely dressed in a Falcon suit, he unlike the others had markings around his eyes. "What the fuck is wrong with these people?!" He practically screamed as he ran towards his house. As Derek got to his house he quickly pulled out his keys and fumbled with the lock, as he pushed the key in he feared what he might find. As he pushed the door in his jaw dropped, the house he shared with Louis was completely covered with pictures of the man that Anubis had shown him. "What... the... fuck?..." He gaped as he looked around; the pictures were all exactly the same. "L... Louis?... what is all of this?..." As he called out for his partner he received no answer, as he reached the center of their house he saw that the room was plastered with the pictures. As Derek looked around he could find no sign of his partner, after a couple of minutes of him calling out he knew that Louis wasn't in the house. He slowly walked dejected out of the house, as he did so he bumped into the chest of a man. "Pardon me..." He mumbled not thinking, but then he realized that should be no one in the streets. He looked up to find himself in the presence of one of the dressed men, "Oh shit!" Before he could get away his arm was grabbed by the Falcon man, "Let me go!" As he struggled to get away he realized that he wasn't strong enough to pull away, the falcon man started to drag Derek down the street. Before the pair could get very far the Falcon was attacked by a dog like man. "Holy shit!" Derek stumbled back in surprise, the dog like man looked down at him in mild irritation. "Didn't I tell you to get out of here? Why won't humans ever listen to anything I ever say, I tell them about the plague in England but noooo they don't believe me there either and look what happens to the lot of them, they all go off and start to die. Do humans just love trouble?" The last question as directed towards Derek who seemed to be having trouble forming coherent sentences, "Oh I'm sorry I forgot to go back into my human form, one second." The dog creature concentrated for a moment before turning into the man from earlier, "Better?" Derek gaped as he looked up at Anubis, "Are you really telling me that you... you're a god?" The man sarcastically claps his hands, "The man finally gets it through his head, yes I am Anubis the Egyptian god of death. Seriously I think you humans have a thicker head than my father and that's saying a lot."
After helping Derek up Anubis sighed, "So why did you completely disregard my order?" Derek looked at the open door to his house, "My partner..." Anubis's mouth opened up in realization, "Oh... oh I'm so, so sorry. I should've realized, but I'm so sorry but he's probably one of them now." Derek's eyes filled with tears of rage, "Why is that guy taking over Egypt?!" He asked imploringly, Anubis looked sadly at the human. "It's because he believes that all of the Earth belongs to him." Derek wiped away his tears and looks at Anubis with determination, "How can I help you?" Anubis looks at him in surprise, "You can't I'm sorry." Derek glares at the god, "Bullshit! If this guy can turn people into birds then couldn't you just turn me into that dog thing that you were just a second ago?" Anubis took on a slightly offended look, "It's called a Jackal thank you very much, and yes I assume I could... but realize that once I do that you become a permanent member of my army." Derek thought it over for a moment then looked at the god with determination, "This asshole took away my boyfriend, I'm going to make him pay." Anubis nodded with a solemn look, "Alright I'm going to start, but just to let you know this might sting a bit." Derek clenched his eyes tightly together and felt a spark go through his body; he twitched violently as he felt his body suddenly expand. Derek looked down to see black fur sprouting from all over his body, he felt a prodding sensation from his butt and he looked down to see a tail growing out. "Well... that's new..." He muttered out loud, Derek suddenly winced as he felt his face extending out into a muzzle. He also went temporarily deaf as his ears transferred to the top of his head, as the changes finished up he looked down to see that he had grown at least four inches from the change. "Well Louis did say he liked taller men..." He said jokingly. Anubis looked up down his new soldier appraising him, "Alright well it looks like the change worked out well." Anubis glanced over Derek's shoulder and saw something that made his face turn serious, "Well it looks like you get to test out your new body right now." Derek looked behind him to see three men approaching them, two of the three he had seen around the city. The one in the lead was the Falcon headed man, beside him was what looked like the general. The third seemed familiar to Derek for some odd reason. "Ah there you are Anubis I was wondering where you were hiding this whole time, I don't believe I've gotten the chance to introduce you to my general Herep." The Falcon man with the markings on his face called out in response to his master's call, "Ra I see that you are as much of an asshole as ever." Anubis said in response, Ra's mouth took a dangerously low curve to it then he noticed Derek. "Ah a minion Anubis, I thought you said that you would never fight." Anubis glared at his fellow god, "That was before you declared war on the humans." Derek's eyes were focused on the falcon man standing next to Ra, "Oh I see you notice my newest recruit little Jackal, he truly is a good worshipper. It's why I let him follow me around." The bird called out in an immediately recognized voice, "All for you my master Ra." Derek called out in anger, "Louis!" Ra's eyes widened in surprise for a second, "Ah so you know my little birdy, well then don't let me get between the two of you." He looked down at the bird and took on a dangerous smile, "Go destroy that pup." The Falcon that had been Louis smiled and nodded and suddenly glared at Derek, "I shall kill you for my master." Derek gritted his teeth in dismay, "Please don't do this Louis." Louis started to run at him but then a blinding light suddenly filled Derek's vision, after a moment he found Anubis and himself in a random building. "Ah that was closer to Ra than I would've liked to been." Anubis muttered as he brushed off his suit, "Well now you know our enemy Derek. What do you think of him?" Derek wiped away a tear from his cheek, "I'm going to kill him." Anubis nodded solemnly and rubbed the Jackal's shoulder, "Don't you worry, if I can I will save Louis." Derek looked up and smiled at Anubis then he frowned, "How did you know my name?" Anubis took on an innocent look once again, "I might've read your brain while transforming you..." Derek growled in irritation at Anubis then he sighed, "So what do we do first Anubis?" Anubis once again went serious, "Our first step is to find more survivors and bring them to our side."
Across the city Ra smacked his General Herep in rage, "How could you let my enemy get away Herep?!" Herep looked sheepishly at his master, "I'm so sorry master, I promise you it won't happen again." Ra nodded slowly, "You'd better... now come let us go, I must rest." The god with his two minions walked towards the center of the city where the God's throne rested.
