#2 of Becoming Tundra

"Get over here you faggot!"

"Run Snow!"

The raccoon and husky were being chased by a group of Dobermans. The two were almost completely out of breath and panic had taken over. It was dusk, so visibility was beginning to decrease. They stopped at a corner and looked back. For a moment it had seemed as if though they had lost their pursuers. They both panted heavily.

"What...the fuck!" Snow said.

"Yeah, no kidding," Bandit replied.

"Hey! There they are!" The biggest of the pack came around the corner.

The other three followed behind him as they walked toward the two. No longer having energy to run, the two small furs decided that they might as well try and fight. The pack leader cracked his knuckles and the others chuckled behind him. Snow snarled and Bandit hissed. Snow, trying to defend his best friend, charged the large dog but was stopped with a thick paw wrapping tightly around his throat. He choked and squirmed as the Doberman lifted the pup off the ground.

"Now I'm gonna teach you what we do to faggots like you." He grinned evilly as his pack chuckled behind him. With a roar, the pup was hurled into the middle of the street. He yipped as the hard pavement took off some fur and skin. Exhausted and in complete pain, he stayed on his belly and just hoped that there was some way to get out of this. Moments later, Bandit was next to him and whining lightly. The pack howled with laughter as Snow began to taste the blood in his muzzle. He slowly opened his eyes and looked over at his friend. Bandit was in just as bad of shape as himself.

"Now, let that be a lesson to ya. Don't go around flaunting about how much of freaks you two are." The pack left and their laughter was heard until they rounded the corner. Snow tried to pick his head up, but it dropped back down as he let out a whimper. He wasn't sure, but he could almost swear that the pavement was beginning to vibrate underneath him. Looking in the other direction, his heart sank as he saw a semi heading right towards them. Adrenaline kicking in, Snow used every ounce of energy to get up off the ground. The pain was intense, but time was running short. He leaned down and used all his might to lift Bandit off the ground. There were only seconds left and Snow knew that it would be impossible to drag his best friend out of danger. His last desperate attempt, and then used every ounce of energy and hurled Bandit towards the sidewalk. The semi's horn blared as the coon's feet just miss the headlight.....

The scene goes black. Then everything explodes in torch light. Lying in the middle of a very familiar room is Snow. His chest is lightly falling and rising. Most of his fur is covered in blood. In the throne sits a very scary figure. Fur darker than night, Anubis looks down upon the husky. Wearing the tradition garb of an Egyptian god, he shows all the power that you would expect from him. His thick muscles, golden staff, large footpaws, and tall ears all flaunt him. The god slowly stands and walks down the two steps to the throne. Snow's eyes open and he begins to realize where he is. Turning towards Anubis, his ears fall flat on his head, and he curls into a tight ball.

"Snow," he says in a calm but powerful voice, "Do not fear me. You have done nothing that would cause me to harm you. Please stand."

Without wanting to disobey the powerful creature, Snow slowly uncurls and then gets to his feet. His small, skinny body is completely over shadowed by the nine foot tall jackal.

"What you had done is one of the most noble of things that one friend could do for another. For that, you will have eternal reward, but there is a cost that must still be paid. As strange as this may sound to you, you are dead."

At this point, Snow's eyes were extremely wide. They began to water as the memories of what happened began to flood back into him. Filled with sorrow, he realized thought that hw would never be able to see Bandit again. Noticing the pup's emotions, he spoke again.

"Because I admire what you have done, I am going to give you a chance to seek revenge on those who have done you wrong and to say your final good bye. It will only be for a short time, but I feel that you have earned it.

Snow looked up at him and slowly found his voice, "Buh...but....I can't get revenge. I would get.....my maw pounded...in again." His eyes continued to water and tears fell into the fur on his face.

Anubis gave a small smile and then put a powerful paw on Snow's shoulder, "When you awaken, you will see that I have given you everything that you will need to make things right." He finished with a confirming nod and then walked back to his throne.

As he sat down, the room begins to darken, and then you find yourself in the same room, but only with the much bigger Tundra standing in front of you.

Tundra took in a deep breath and grabs your shoulders one more time. Everything goes white and then you find yourself in a hospital. In the room is the small pup lying in a bed. There were several bags hooked up to him, one being a transfusion. The heart monitor was steady, but low. Sitting across from his bead was Bandit. His head was tilted back in a deep sleep. There was no one in the other bed, so the curtain was left open so the sun could shine in. the door opened and a lion in a white coat walked in. He gave a small smile as he saw the raccoon and then gave his shoulder a light nudge. Bandit let out a bit yawn as he slowly opened his eyes and looked at the doc.

"His parents will be here in a few minutes. You should go home and get some real sleep," the lion said in a gentle yet firm tone.

Bandit nodded and then slowly got out of the chair. He gave a quick look over Snow and then left the room. The doc took a few reading and another vial of blood. Just as he finished, Snow's parents walked in the door. The father looked almost as if he was forced to be there, and then mother looked very upset, with tears in her eyes. The doc explained to them that Snow was slowly recovering, but it was going to be a significant amount of time before he would be fully functional again.

There was a small stir from the bed, "Mmm...Ma....s'that you?" Snow's voice was very distant.

"Yes babe, it's me. How....how are you?" She tried to sound as positive as possible.

A small smirk formed on his maw, "Well...I'm still here aren't I?"

His mom smiled back and pulled a chair up next to his bed, "I'm glad to see you're still a smartass."

He forced his eyes open and gave a little chuckle. His father didn't say a word as he continued to sit in the chair that had recently occupied Bandit. The visit was short because Snow wasn't able to keep enough energy to stay awake long. Upon leaving, his mother kissed his forehead. His heart leaped a little and then he fell back asleep.

Two weeks later, accompanied by Bandit and his parents, a few other friends, and his mom, Snow limped out of the hospital. On the way out the door, the doctor handed him a schedule for his rehab.

With a wince, he gave the doc a hug, "Thank you for you're help."

"Don't mention it son. It's my job." He gently hugged Snow back.

They got Snow home about a half hour later. His father was sitting on the couch watching TV. Neither he nor snow bothered to look at each other. He let out small whimpers as he made his was down to his room. He flipped on the light and let out a small yelp. Sitting on his bed was Anubis.

"Hun, is everything ok?" His mom called from the top of the stairs.

"Y..yeah Mom. I just stubbed my toe," he said back as he closed his door. "Wha...what are you doing here?" He asked quietly.

"I'm here to let you know what I have planned." The jackel stood up. "You are going to have an amazing rehab. Your body will change in ways that you would only imagine. With this, I want you to bring that Doberman down to me. After which time, you will be give one last week up here before returning to my world. I will be back in a few days to check on your progress." Anubis then took two steps over to the pup and put a paw on his shoulder.

Snow felt a surge of a new emotion that he had never felt before. It warmed his body. Looking at the god, he began to notice that he was very good looking. "I will do my best to seek revenge."

"I know that you will," Anubis gave a faint smile and then the room went dark.

Within a moment, the light came back and Snow was alone. He amazingly felt full of energy, but there was a heavy weight on his mind. He only had a few weeks left to be with the ones that he loved, and it was starting to tear at him. Being in the hospital, Snow wasn't able to focus on much but sleep. Now that he was recovering, his mind had began recollecting what he was charged to do. In order to help deal with it, he climbed into his bed and decided to take a quick nap before dinner.

There was a light knock on his door, and Snow's eyes slowly opened. He got out of the bed and opened it. His mom was standing in front of him with a small smile, "Dinner's ready."

"Ok," He smiled back and then followed her to the table. Upon walking, he began to feel that there was a lot more power in his legs. They were no longer sore. With his jeans on, he wasn't able to see if there was a problem or not but decided to wait until after eating.

He sat down opposite his dad, and mom put out the food. Snow filled his plate.

"You know, if you weren't gay, this would have never happened," his dad said, glaring at him.

Snow just focused on his food, trying to not get angry.

"You and that little faggot raccoon are just asking for trouble," the older husky said as he shoveled food into his maw.

"Dad, shut up," Snow said quietly.

"I'll say what I want in my house, and I could care less what you think about it," he snarled. "But, if you want to keep getting hurt then just keep hanging out with that raccoon. You'll end up dead one day."

Not in the mood for taking any more, Snow slammed his fist down on the table. Upon doing so, the two legs by him snapped and all the food fell into Snow's lap. Both his mom and dad looked at him, scared. Snow had never shown that much force before. Still filled with rage, Snow stood up and pointed a finger at his father, "If you can't accept who I am, then fine. But don't insult me for being who makes me happy. I'm sorry if I'm not the perfect son, but if you're too cold hearted to accept a fur with differences, even your own son, then you deserve to be miserable!" This come out in a tone that was much deeper than Snow's normal voice. His dad looked full of fear as the words washed over him.

Snow stormed off to his room and slammed the door. It caused a mirror at the other end of the hall to fall and shatter. He could hear his mother whispering as he paced his floor. Still full of rage, he turned towards his empty wall and punched it. His first thought was that it was going to hurt like hell, but instead his fist went straight through the wall and into the bathroom. His eyes widened as he looked at what he did. At the sound, his mom ran down the stairs. She pulled his door open and saw his fist in the wall. Without a word she walked back upstairs. He pulled his paw back and looked at the size of the hole in the wall. For some reason it looked like it was bigger than it should be. Then looking down at his paw, he gasped as he saw that it was larger than it had normally been. It wasn't only his paw though. His forearm was much thicker as well. He closed his door again and then locked it. Walking over to his mirror, Snow pulled off his t-shirt and his maw fell wide open. Looking back at him was a chest that was well built. The abs were beginning to be defined under his fur. His whole arm looked as if though he had been at the gym every day for the past month. He gawked at himself and then gave a small chuckle.

"So, this is what he meant," he ran a paw across his pecs.
