#8 of A Fox's Family: A Tale of the House Delgado

Inside the plane the team was silent. All any of them could hear was the hum of the engines softly purring through the early morning sky.

It was an old cargo plane fitted for evening jumps. The team relied on it along with their contracted ferret pilot known as "Hash" to get them wherever they were needed to be within the borders of the country also known as Myanmar. Their poverty and placement next to China had inspired a small splinter group to begin purchasing weapons shipments from both Chinese and North Korea militants. The objective was to cache these shipments in the south to be later sold to interested parties in the Middle East and Africa. It was the 15th Black Calvary's job to smash these caches and put an end to these deals once and for all.

The lights went out. The red light came on. One minute to the first jump site.

Frost and Thumper would go in this first jump along with the team's demolitions expert, a black Labrador from Ireland by the name of "Ticker." On their way to the door, Thumper gave July a brief glance of doubt, something that took the fox by surprise. He'd never seen the rhino so worked up before. They'd done this numerous times in the first couple months they'd arrived, but from what Thumper had mentioned earlier, the seeds of uncertainty were now working their way into the fox's mind as well.

With silent precision, the three men leapt from the plane and headed down towards their rally point. Immediately after July and his recon partner "Oz", a young salamander from Botswana, got up and got into position. Hash just kept on flying as the pair knew just when to go. They didn't need to see the ground. They could tell just by the movement of the plane and the seconds ticking by just how far they'd need to wait.

The light ahead on the matte black highway was dim, yellowed by the old headlights beaming down on the pavement with nothing but darkness beyond them. The rumble of the old Mustang's engine spoke of its age and the miles it had gone. All the long...

Dennis sat there by himself in the cool stale air of the hospital waiting room. The tall, young, slender gazelle nurse, the stout chubby hippo at the receptionist desk, the elderly pelican doctor making his rounds. These were all faces the fox was...

Nester cleared coughed softly into his balled hand as he looked out at the couple before him with an awkward sense that he was a bit out of place and while Sebastian's intentions were good natured in inviting his host to meet his latest love interest,...
