As I looked upon the male kitsune before me he looked be of warrior class. Judging from not only his stance but, the scars he wore proudly. From the looks of things he wasn't a push over the more I studied him. I noticed two figure standing a few feet behind him. Upon a closer look they were two rather lovely vixens. They seemed rather timid and jumpy when ever he spoke. My first assumption about them was they were his servants or something.

"I've got a better idea instead of threatening me how's about a proper challenge." I said in a calm voice. "Why bother you're obviously no match for me." He replied confidently. "Than it would be an easy victory for then since you seem so confident." I stated. "Alright, shall we talk terms for the winner, since the loser won't survive." He remarked. "Very well but, before we do, could you explain something to me first." I said.

"Fine! What is it I'm on a tight schedule here." He remarked. "The two lovely ladies behind you what's their story?" I asked. "That's simple they're my wives, by law I can have up to three wives at any time. Though I can release them from their marriage to me at a moment of my choosing. Unless they've bore my kits then I'm bound to them for life." He informed. "So they're only playthings to you, once you're bored you simply toss them aside.' I stated trying to keep my anger at bay.

"Pretty, much but, they say a priestesses are rare females and are incredibly frisky." He smirked. "So how's this the winner earns the losers wives. While the loser if he survives never remarries for life." I suggested. "Sounds, alright by me but, lets not duel here. There's a meadow about an hours walk to the east of here. I'd rather not fight on holy ground it's bad manners and form." He informed honestly. "Fine, by me but, I don't trust you so, at the base of the hill we'll fight." I pointed out.

"Have it your way." He groaned. We walked down the vast staircase as the women followed behind us. Kyuri, kept trying to peer into my mind to see what I was planning. I let my mind go blank to help me keep my mind, body and spirit focused. This is the first true fight I've had with an opponent bent on killing me. All my training had prepared me for this but, I never thought I'd have to use it so soon.

When we reached the base of the hill we asked the women to section off a make shift arena. Removing any weapons or concealed items we removed our shirts then moved into the center. As a sign of respect I bowed to my opponent while he stood there acting smug. He didn't waste another second he came for me with everything he had. A spiral kick flashed through the air and caught nothing but, air.

As I ducked down, rolled to the left, before he could recover I moved in swiftly. Grabbing the under side of his thigh, pushing him up and off balance, knocking him instantly to the ground. All three women blinked trying to follow with what just occurred. Even he wasn't expecting to land on his backside within mere milliseconds of attacking.

Being a five tails like he was, naturally he should've been able to block my maneuver. He wasted no time recovering and jumped back to his feet. A split second later he launched after me at full speed, before he could land a blow. I stood my ground, crouched then with both my fist, I impaled them against his abdomen. Literally stopping him dead, while the impact sent him reeling back.

That one attack tore his last nerve apart, it was then he brought his magic forth. "PREPARE, TO FRY YOU FREAK!" He shouted angrily. As his hands burst into flames, brought them together and prepared to launch it. Something inside me clicked a message from beyond the grave. "My son, magic can be redirected, you have the power now it's time to use it." Ashandria whispered as a soft breeze blew.

I relaxed my body and took a deep breath as everything molded around me. Using the energy stored within me to conform the air into a barrier. As the clan mark on my left arm began to glow brightly as my energy grew. A loud explosion rang out as a massive white fireball raced towards me. At that moment my energy reached it's peak, launching myself off the ground and straight towards him.

The fireball and I collided in a massive explosion causing a shockwave to ripple out. The smoke billowed everywhere, my opponent thought for sure he won. Before he could celebrate I emerged from the smoke causing him to panic. "Spiral, Fang!" I said as my palm rested on his chest. At the split instant nothing happened...then a large vacuum of air came out of nowhere. Sending him flying like a ball being thrown into a horizontal twister the size of a bus.

He launched backwards slamming into four thick trees, before slamming into a large boulder. Everything around us went silent nobody moved or breathed. A gently rustling of the tree tops broke the silence that had fallen in the area. After allowing my body to relax I walked over to where he laid. Reaching up I checked his pulse sure enough he was alive but, he was out cold.

His wives rushed to his side as I pulled him free from the boulder. "He's alive but, he's gonna be out cold for a while. I'm going to take him up to the shrine to make sure there no fatal internal damage." I informed. "I don't care what happens to him the guy's a jerk." The red furred vixen snapped. As I took another good look at her I instantly recognized her. "Renka?" I asked. "Hello, human long time no see, well it looks like your my new husband. Talk about an ironic twist of fate this has become." She replied shaking her head.

"I'll say this though judging from our last encounter, you're probably still mad about that." I stated. "Not really it was low but, even I have to admit it was a rather effective move." She replied with a smirk. "Well, thank her for that she made the mistake of chasing a sunbeam. On a windy and cloudy day, it was hard to keep myself from laughing." I pointed out with a smile. Of course Kyuri gave me the evil eye, so I knew better than to turn around. Renka could see the look she was giving me and smiled broadly.

"Looks like you'll be sleeping outside, human for a week." The other female fox stated. "More than likely judging from the burning sensation my ears are getting." I replied. "Alright, Kyuri don't forget he just saved our collective butts a moment ago. So I think a little leeway would show our appreciation for what's been done." Renka pointed out. "You're right Renka, Orion has done a lot to ensure our well being." She replied.

"Sorry, to change the subject but, I didn't quite get your name my lovely jade colored vixen." I said looking at her. "I'm, Arreincia I come from the clan, Snowing Bark Cedar." She replied bowing politely. "Come on let's get him up to the temple so I can treat his wounds." I informed hoisting him onto my shoulder. It took us a few minutes to bring him up to the medical hut, behind the shrine.

Treating all of his wounds took a good while, thankful he was still out cold. His thrashing around would have only prolong his treatment and made his wounds a lot worse. Once his wounds were treated I left him be and went to make everyone some tea. The women spent the entire time talking and getting to know each other. When I joined them, serving each lady a cup. They asked me leave so they could have a little privacy, naturally I did just that.

At first I was confused but, I'm sure they had their reasons for not wanting me around. So I walked around finding little things to occupy myself with. Until he woke up or the girls wanted to see me inside the dining hall. I ended up sitting by the small fish pond out behind the shrine watching the fish. While they swam I'd toss some food into the water and watched them eat.

I sensed, Kyuri walking towards me so I stood up and turned around. "Is everything alright?" I asked looking at her. "Everything is fine the girls and I have decided that you shall marry us. Though they would like to spend a little one on one time with you. Just to make sure that they'll get along with you." She informed. "Sure, that's reasonable with me and yourself?" I replied. "Orion, my love you and I don't need to court each other. Considering we know all there is about the other or have you forgotten the mark we share." She pointed out.

"No, I haven't its kinda hard to ignore something you see all the time. Except when I'm asleep naturally, besides we also share a link of the mind. The only one I'm unsure of is, Renka though Arreincia seems like an honest woman." I replied. "Hmm, I thought the opposite since Renka is the most up front. While Arreincia, seems like she's actually hiding something." Kyuri pointed out.

"Perhaps but, only time will be able to shed the light we need to see the truth." I stated. "Alright, just keep your senses alert around her that's all. I don't want anything happening to you despite your new skills." She replied poking me in the nose. "Yes, Kyuri I'll do my best to keep out of trouble." I promised holding up my right hand. When she smiled I hooked my arm around her neck and pulled her close.

She wasted no time cuddling up against me and breathed a sigh of relief. "Aww, how sweet it's really no wonder you choose him, Kyuri. What kitsune female in her right mind wouldn't want such a sweet male." Renka said as she stood close by. "Renka, mind if I pick your mind for a little info?" I asked looking back at her. "Sure, what's on your mind?" She replied taking a seat next to us.

"Now, being the best tracker this world has to offer you've been around the world. So you've come into contact with a lot of different clans over the years." I said. "Naturally, so where are you going with this, human?" She wondered. "What can you tell me about my clan as well as Arriencia's clan?" I asked curiously. Renka took a moment to look at the clan mark on my left arm. Tracing her finger along the outlet of the mark while her mind went to work.

It was some time before she spoke to us about either topic. "This clan mark is beyond me the only kitsune that would know is my mother. As for Arreincia, she comes from the mountain villages far to the northeast. They're known for their hardy lifestyle, superb clothing and crystal making skills. Light green fur isn't uncommon among the female gender. While the men have a soft blue green tint to their fur." She informed.

"For a winter climate kitsune I figured she be a bit bigger all around. Granted she's pretty as she is now don't get me wrong, Renka." I replied. "Actually, you're not wrong in your assumption, see she's a runt, hence the jade hue and smaller size." Renka pointed out. "Ah, anything else that would be useful info I could as not to offend her?" I asked. "Not really I've only spent a few days amongst her kind. Not long enough to really learn anything of major value." She remarked.

"Thank you for what you told me already, Renka." I said. "Your welcome if you're still curious about your clan mark. I could arrange an audience with my mother after we marry." Renka suggested. "Sure, that's fine with me I'm not in any kind of rush to learn about it." I stated. "I can only imagine what my mother is going to say when I tell her." Kyuri remarked rolling her eyes.

"Kyuri, you're not the only woman here having that very same thought." Renka pointed out. "Didn't realize I was such an odd ball case for husband material." I chimed in. "It's not your fault, Orion its just our mother's believe in traditional marriages. A strong, very worthy male candidate of course good breeding background." Kyuri informed. "Yeah, my mother in particular wants me to find a man that can beat her. In a mission of tracking and retrieval of her own design." Renka stated.

"Well, I'm porked, if that's the case." I stated grinning. "Speaking of my mother I'm overdue to speak to her. Kyuri, is there a scry pool I could use by any chance?" Renka asked leaning off to the side. "Yeah, come on follow me I'll take you right to it." She replied getting up. Naturally I followed suit a moment later, curious about the scry pool. It was a short walk to a small hut on the other side of the main temple.

Once inside I saw a small two foot wide shallow bowl filled with water. Renka stood by it and placed her hand just above the bowl. The clear liquid turned a silvery color before freezing solid. As I watch the bowl it began to lift off the table. While the bowl tilted forward in midair to face, Renka. A short time later face started to slowly appear on the frozen water's surface.

An older yet, softly aged vixen appeared in the bowl as Renka smiled. "Renka, my daughter it's good to see you my child. So what warrants you to call me I figured you're still on mission. Wait!...hold on what's that standing off to the your left?" She smiled before noticing me standing nearby. "Actually, he's the part of the reason why I called, mother." Renka replied. "Please, enlighten me daughter now that my curiosity has been aroused." She remarked looking at me intently.

To be Continued.
