On December 2, all the greatest video game characters came to a meeting to decide the fate of SEGA. All of Nintendo's most revered characters came to support the merger, including Mario, Donkey Kong, Samus Aran, Link, and Fox McCloud and his team. Among McCloud's team was the newly introduced vixen Krystal, who was promised her own game but was canceled due to a lack in faith that gamers would be interested in it. On the SEGA board, there was one man who stood to make a lot of money by keeping the company from merging with Nintendo. Taso Hematu, one of the richest game developers on the planet. Taso ascertained his wealth by criticizing games and numerous conglomerate tasks. The bulk of his wealth however was obtained through both blackmail and embezzlement. Taso had stolen thousands of dollars from Sega and was never caught. But now Nintendo was trying to merge the company with their own, leading to a drastic decline job positions and eventually his dismissal. This he would not allow. As the board and characters were talking amongst on another in the lounge area, Taso crept to the refreshments reserved for video game icons. One tray held the vast arrangement of all the Nintendo Super Stars' beverages and the other held that of Sega's. Taso reached into his pocket and produced two vials of clear blue liquid. The enraged fox almost stormed into the Sega building when he realized that Hematu had dodged almost every embezzlement charge against him; Taso was a very powerful man with many connections, he would no doubt be able to weasel his way out of this mess. The only option left to Fox was to kill Taso, but if he was discovered he would be arrested and banned from Nintendo. After a long sleepless night of planning, Fox devised a way to have his cake and eat it, too. Two days before the merger, Fox jumped into his Arwing and flew towards the Villain's Sector, where all of the most vile video game antagonists dwelled. Veiling himself in full flight suit armor, Fox made his way into a cantina where his greatest nemesis normally visited; Wolf O'Donnell, the leader of the Star Wolf team. When Fox approached Wolf in his private booth, Wolf immediately recognized him and threatened to blast his head off if he didn't leave. Fox put his hands in front of him to show he meant no harm and revealed that he needed his help. Leaving out the details of Sonic and Krystal's encounter, Fox asked Wolf to take out Taso Hematu, explaining that Taso was a threat to all video game characters from both Sega and Nintendo, both good and evil. When Wolf asked what was in it for him, Fox declared that if Wolf would dispose of Taso with no questions asked and no mentioning of Fox's involvement, Fox would personally see to it that the Star Wolf team would be brought back in the next game with new ships and a bigger role in the story line. Wolf thought the offer over, staring at Fox with his one good eye. Finally, he smiled and said "Through in a new eye patch and you've got yourself a deal", extending his hand to Fox who shook it anxiously. The next day, Taso was in his condo by the beach when Wolf bombed his home in his Wolfen. Taso Hematu died in the attack, taken completely by surprise. Nobody witnessed Wolf's attack, or at least nobody cared enough for the bastard to report Wolf's actions. The next day, the merger with Sega and Nintendo finally fell through and all of Sega's characters were back in business. Now Fox gazed at the electronic message he had prepared to send to Sonic. Fox held no real hate for the hedgehog; Sonic and Krystal were drugged by Taso, they did not love each other, it wasn't their fault. The message explained that Fox had completely forgiven Sonic for what had happened and wanted to invite to a special "meeting" in 2008. Satisfied with the content, Fox clicked the "Send Message" button on the bottom of the computer screen and turned of the system after it was sent. As Fox started to rise from his seat, he heard the doors open behind him. Fox turned around to see Krystal standing in the doorway, gazing at him with tear-stained eyes. "Fox", whispered Krystal, walking slowly towards him, "I wanted to talk to you, even if you don't want anything to do with me". Fox had half a mind to leave the room, but seeing Krystal standing in front of him with her head hung in shame and tears in her eyes made him realize she was really upset over the whole ordeal and that he had been completely unfair to her. "What I did was horrible, I'll never forgive myself" Krystal muttered, wrapping her arms around her chest tightly. Krystal stared at Fox, confused. "I was completely insensitive to your feelings, I should've trusted you...can you forgive me?" asked Fox. Fox was about to tell her he loved her, but Krystal sensed his thoughts and placed a finger to his lips. "However, if you really want to make it up to me, why don't you just follow me to my room and we can work something out" whispered Krystal slyly in Fox's ear. Fox's eyes lit up and without a moment's delay he lifted Krystal up off her feet and sprinted down the hallway with Krystal in his arms, laughing all the way down to her room. Meanwhile at Sega Headquarters, Sonic the Hedgehog was feeling depressed; it had been two weeks and he had heard nothing from Fox McCloud. Sonic really wanted Fox to forgive him, but the Star Fox leader was avoiding all contact with everyone these days. The blue hedgehog was about to leave work early and go for a run through Green Hill Zone when he heard a small "DING" come from his computer, signaling the arrival of a new message. Sonic sat back down and opened the electronic message; he read through the letter fairly quickly, but all he needed to know was in the first few sentences. The message was from Fox McCloud and, amazingly, enclosed a short letter of forgiveness. The blue hedgehog's emerald green eyes widened with surprise and joy; finally, Fox had forgiven both Krystal and Sonic. But what interested Sonic the most was the small invitation that was placed at the bottom of the letter; Sonic had been invited to a convention in 2008. Although he didn't know what it was for, Sonic at least knew what it was called... SUPER SMASH BROS. BRAWL! Alright, this was just a funny idea of mine that I've always wanted to type, especially since S.S.B.B. comes out this month. I have three reasons for writing this off-beat story: 1.To put Krystal and Sonic together. (Come on, they're both blue! Why didn't anyone else think of this?) 2.To find somewhat of a dramatic way to portray Sega's merger with Nintendo. 3.To reveal the real reason Sonic was invited to S.S.B.B. (So Fox could get a little payback on Sonic for fucking Krystal. Watch out, Krystal Fans!)
