Beauty and the Werewulf Chapter 5
#5 of Beauty and the Werewulf
Chapter 5
Once the group reached the cafeteria, Damon and Madi separated from Sanders and went to go get something to eat. Madi had to use the bathroom right fast, she told him she'd find him later. Damon went to the lunch line alone. He managed to grab some pizza and paid for it before he sat down. Quickly enough, as soon as he sat down he was swarmed by several girls. He took a deep breath to calm himself. Sometimes he wondered if he even needed to use Mesmer. Girls just threw themselves at him without him even trying... After a while he finally managed shoo the girls away just as Madi started walking towards him with a tray of food. "Looks like you have quite the fan-club Damon," she told him in a joking manner.
"Yup, I am very much popular with the fairer sex as you can see." He shot back with a smug grin.
Madi only snorted and shook her head at him, "Don't let it go to your head. They only like you because of how you look... if you were average looking I doubt they'd pay any attention to you," she muttered looking down at her food. "No offense but it's true. You could be the best guy ever, but if you were ugly they wouldn't give you the time of day."
He only nodded...What she said was true of course. Those girls were that shallow sad to say. "You are pretty insightful aren't you?" he asked. She only shrugged still eating her food.
She was silent for several minutes before she spoke again, "I wouldn't say that... I'm just pointing out the obvious. You're gorgeous, any person can see that... but to judge everything on looks is stupid. It's so shallow... there is more to a person then a pretty exterior. I still don't know anything about you yet, but how you stopped those bullies leads me to think you're a good person," she then smiled over at him, "But of course I'm blabbering now so I'll let you talk now..."
"Sure... you do have a point though..." he admitted, "I can be a total asshole to them and they would still sleep with me. And I can't stand bullies... The strong should defend the weak not harm them. Using your size to overpower someone weaker is wrong. They are cowards and the damage they can cause is irreversible."
Madi only nodded her head. Damon wondered if Madi had ever suffered from bullying, but he didn't ask... It would be way too personal just then. So he let them slip into silence. Both were eating their meals until Madi decided to talk again.
"So, maybe we can work together to get the homework done?" she asked and he gave it thought...
Tonight was a full moon and he wasn't ready to tell her about his lycanthropy... That would probably freak her out a bit. But he didn't want to miss a second with her... maybe he could get her out before sundown? "Sure, we can go over my house," he told her and she shrugged and agreed.
"Sure, but I have to do something after school... so give me an hour okay?"
"Sure... I have stuff to do as well..." he agreed... like cleaning... His home was a complete mess. He doubted he, Matt or Tyler had done much cleaning after his parents left... And seeing as how Madi's house seemed extremely clean, he didn't want to leave a bad impression. Hell he didn't want her to know he was a total slob... that was it. She made him embarrassed about it... Nobody had ever made him feel that way before...
"Okay then... it's settled we'll meet after an hour and get the homework done!" she said.
Damon nodded in agreement and they went back to eating in silence. Soon enough Damon finished his pizza and got up to empty his tray. Afterwards he went to find the football coach; he was going to go through with his promise of telling the Coach about their bullying spree. Once he reached the Coach's office, he knocked on the door and patiently waited for Coach Mansfield to answer. After a few minutes the older man opened the door. He looked annoyed until he saw Damon then a small smile spread across his face. "Oi Garcia, what brings you here son?" He asked him, "Not that I mind seeing one of my star players but still..."
"I caught Andrew's and his flunkies Wilson and Myer...they were bullying Jacob Sanders again..."
The coach only sighed a bit, "And you go into another fight... one which you never seem to get injured. Come in here son, I want to talk to you. I'll send a note to Mrs. White after we are done.
Damon sighed he was going to get lectured again... "Okay if you say so Coach..." he muttered. The office was pretty cozy for a locker-room...Though it stank to high heaven he didn't mind. The smell of sweat did little for him. He sat down on one of the chairs in front of the Coach's desk. Once he was settled in the Coach began to speak. "This is the fourth fight you've been in this month... I have no idea what to do with you... Logically I should have you suspended for fighting along with those boys, but at the same time I know you only target bullies... Violence isn't the answer Garcia. You're a damn good athlete and you are pretty bright as well, but you are squandering away your potential. You could easily get an athletic scholarship, but you need to work on your grades..."
Damon sighed at that. Matt always bothered him about his grades and quite frankly he didn't give a shit about them. It's not like having straight A's would make him a better werewolf... "Anything else Coach?" he asked.
"Yes, how is your brother?"He asked, "I haven't seen the boy since he graduated... he was a damn good athlete himself. Surprised he was a queer though."
Damon shrugged. He'd never understood the human views on sexuality. Werewolves never really got worked up about it. He had known his brother was gay since he was fourteen.
"He's doing well. He's in collage now. University of Colorado... He's trying to get his medical degree."
The coach smiled, "Would figure... he was valedictorian last year wasn't he? Smart, good looking, athletic... boy could've had any girl he wanted... how is King?"
"Tyler's doing fine as well... he's been staying with us."
The Coach shook his head at that, "He's another one I would have never thought would be gay... But oh well, both of them are good kids." He shrugged, "Tell them both that I said hi," he insisted and Damon agreed.
They talked for a few more minutes before Damon was let go to go to class. The Coach true to his word gave him a note to his Art teacher Mrs. White. She was a severe woman with white hair and wrinkles to rival a basset hound. She had been working at the school for a million years... or that was the rumor around the hallways. He quickly strolled to the classroom and entered the door. He gave the old woman his note which she looked over before nodding and shooing him off to his seat. Madi wasn't in this class so he was kinda bored. He was definitely not an artist; he had no real talent for drawing... However he noticed the only open seat was next to Amanda and he groaned... he didn't want to sit next to her but he had no choice...
"Hello Damon," she giggled.
He hated that laugh it was like nails on the chalkboard to him.... Why did he sleep with this girl again? "Hello Amanda..." he muttered coldly.
She remained oblivious to his cold dismissal and continued talking, "Maybe we could make up for lost time tonight..." she suggested, giving what she thought was a seductive smile but it was more unnerving for him...
This girl was addicted to him...His pheromones must have given her a high feeling... and she needed another fix. She tried to rub his arm but he jerked it away from her.
"I'm sorry, but I got plans," he told her. He quickly looked around to see if anybody was paying attention and focused his attention towards the girl. He let his eyes turn golden again as he spoke, Mesmer leaking from his voice, "Why don't you leave me alone? Be quiet and don't talk or touch me the rest of the day."
The girl only nodded, completely under his spell. Once he was finished he let his eyes turn back to brown and turned away from her... maybe that would make her leave him alone? After class ended he began to walk towards the gym, however he remembered that Madi probably didn't know where the gym was, so he quickly stopped by the Music room and waited until Madi stepped out. After a minute or so of waiting he saw her walk out saying goodbye to the teacher Mr. Pitt. He managed to sneak up on her and made her jump when he announced his presence.
"Dammit Damon! You get a sick twist out of making me nearly have a heart attack don't you? Or is this some weird fetish... if so I'm not interested..." she said and Damon smiled.
"Sorry, it isn't a weird fetish, trust me... But it is fun to see you jump like a kangaroo..." He joked and she scowled and then sighed.
"Why are we friends again? You've been an asshole towards me all day it seems."
"You think we're friends?"he asked with a giddy smile she only groaned and face palmed.
"Why did I open my mouth...yes I guess we are friends... but you still are an asshole," she told him matter of fact tone, "Now come-on, we can't miss class... where is the gym again?"
Damon just laughed and led her there. They walked in silence. Madi was mad at him again and he was trying not to burst out laughing in case it made her even angrier with him. After a few minutes of walking they found themselves in the gym. They separated so they could get dressed.
Madi had been carrying her gym clothes in her bag. He hurried to his locker and changed into his gym clothes, and then he went out and waited for the rest of the class. He could have easily sat out in gym since he was part of not only the football team but basketball and Lacrosse as well... but he enjoyed it. Plus all the others kids were nerds who didn't even play any sports... so it wasn't as if he had to put much effort into it. He saw Madi walk out and she looked pretty good in her gym attire. She sat next to him quietly while they waited for the rest of the class to show up and get changed. Gym passed by pretty quickly and they found themselves walking to the next class.
"So yeah, how do you like school so far?" he asked her in an attempt to break the silence.
She just shrugged before she started, "It's okay... pretty hectic though, but pretty cool at the same time," she muttered.
Their final class ended pretty fast and Damon quickly decided to run home and try to get things clean...He usually disdained cleaning, but he wanted to impress Madi. Once he got there he immediately got into it. The house was a disaster area. He started in the kitchen first. He scrubbed the dishes in the sink trying to get the scum of them. After he managed that he ran upstairs to get the laundry that was piled up in both his and his brother's rooms. After putting them in the washer he then got the vacuum cleaner and vacuumed the carpets and thanked the spirits for werewolf speed. He would have never been able to get all this done if he was just human. Just as he was about to collapse he heard the doorbell ring. Quickly he ran and opened the door wide and greeted Madi.
"Hey Madi!" he hollered. She had changed clothes it seemed. She was wearing a pair of paint splattered jeans and a baggy t-shirt. He noted she had flecks of paint on her cheeks and some of the scent still lingered on her,"Why do you have paint all over your face?" he asked and she blushed. It was the most adorable blush he had ever seen.
"Oh, dammit! I thought I gotten it all... I was finishing a painting I've been working on for months... I guess I was in too big a hurry to get over here to do a thorough job of cleaning myself off..." She muttered looking down embarrassed.
He really wanted to see that blush again, "So you're a painter aye? Do you want me to model for a picture? Like a nude one? I'm not shy," he said as he began to take his shirt off
He almost managed to take it completely off until Madi's panicked voice rang out, "Na-no! Keep your clothes on!" she told him. Her face looked like it was on fire and he had to grin.
After he let his shirt fall back down, he led her into the kitchen to get their homework done. They chatted about things that didn't matter and school. After a few hours he heard Matt pull up the driveway and soon enough he walked through the door.
Matt looked surprised as he walked in, seeing the house being clean and when he saw Madi he raised an eyebrow. "Oh hello," he greeted her in a polite tone, "Who are you?"
"My names Madi; and you are?" she asked back.
"I'm Matt, Damon's older brother... nice to meet you Madi... It is getting quite late... maybe you should be getting home now?" he suggested.
Damon quickly looked towards the clock and saw it was almost sundown... He cursed himself.
Soon enough Tyler walked in, "Why'd you run in so fast love?" he asked. Once he saw Madi he gave a small smile."Hullo, you must be Madi, Damon wouldn't shut up about you," he said while Damon just glared at him.
"And who are you?" she asked trying to hide her blush.
Matt smiled and wrapped his arm around the other boy, "This is my boyfriend Tyler King... does that bother you?" he asked as she shook her head.
Of course it didn't bother her... She raised an eyebrow though. Neither of them certainly looked gay... Matt was just as big and burly as his brother. He had a small goatee and his dark eyes were framed by a pair of glasses. Tyler himself was much smaller than the brothers, about 5'9 with stringy blond hair and the prettiest blue eyes she ever seen.
"No I don't mind... and it's nice to meet you..." She said getting up, "And yes it would be best to go home... I've got to fix dinner... bye!" She called as she ran out of the door.
As soon as she was gone Matt sighed, "So that's your Mate... she's really pretty," he said. Damon could only nod in agreement, "And you're right she does seem sad about something... have you figured out what happened to her mother?"
Damon only shook his head. He hadn't asked her again. Whatever had happened to her must have hurt the girl deeply, "So we, going running or what?" Matt asked as he began to walk out, "The moon will be out soon."
Damon quickly got up and followed just as Matt kissed Tyler goodbye. After that show of affection the brothers walked out and into the park as the moon began to shine through the clouds. Damon let the feeling fall over him as he began the change. He felt his bones break and reform. Felt his muscles rip themselves apart and fix themselves. His face elongating into a massive snout and his teeth and nails becoming razor sharp fangs and claws as his skin became replaced by fur. The beautiful agony the change brought on sang through his body and soon it was complete in his place a massive bipedal beast stood. It's lower body covered by the boy's pants. It's great golden eyes looked across to see another wolf stand beside him. Damon let out a loud howl taking in the light of the moon.

Madi sighed as she let herself in. Today had been rather interesting one. School was nowhere near as bad as she thought it would be, but she just thought maybe it was because of Damon... It was real nice of him to show her around. She quickly stepped into the kitchen. Al was probably upstairs and her Dad wasn't home yet... So she took her time getting things ready for Dinner. She got out some steak and started frying them.
As the aroma of cooking steaks drifted through the house, Al emerged from his hiding place. "That smells amazing Madi!" he said, and she smiled.
"Thanks..." Just as she said that, she heard the phone ring. She quickly answered it. It was her father. "Oh hey dad, I was just getting dinner done! What? You won't be home till late? How late? Wow... I'll leave your dinner in the fridge then okay? Well, love you, bye." She sighed as she set the phone down and looked towards her brother, "It's just us tonight buddy," she muttered and Alex sighed.
"Not really surprising... When was the last time he actually sat down and ate dinner with us?"
Madi heard the resentment in his voice and sighed giving him a hug, "I know it sucks bud, but he has to work..."
"He was never like this when mom was alive..." he muttered. Madi felt his tears on her chest and she held him tighter, "I miss her Madi... I really do."
"I miss her to Al, you have no idea..." She told him back, "But let's eat... Maybe I can help you with your homework?" She asked and he nodded. The two siblings broke apart, neither trying to think about the pain of their loss.
