"That's as far as you creatures go" John said as he levelled his gun off to them "I always thought that there was something funny about you two" he said pulling the trigger back before a van screeched up the dirt road, interrupting him.

Taking their chance Kane pounced on John and Sandy charged at another who was aiming his gun to them. Suddenly the sound of two airguns shooting a pair of tranquilizer darts into them both was followed by a deep voice "Hold It!" a man said, accompanied by two men in plain black uniforms said. The one who had spoken was a heavy set man but wasn't fat that made him heavy, but muscle as he towered over them at 6.5ft tall.

"I don't know who you are but..." John was cut off as the Puma and Wolf was helped off of them and into a van, now unconscious.

"We apologise for this, they are an experiment that escaped and we will retrieve them to be put down permanently" he said as his team did their best to disperse the crowd.

"Now listen here, if you think..." John was silenced yet again but this time because of a cheque he was suddenly writing out.

"Here, I don't suppose this will help you lot to stay quiet?" the heavy set man said as John stared at the cheque. What the stranger had given them was a very sizeable sum, enough for the lot of them to be comfy for a good while. "We have an understanding?" he said.

The crowd gathered to look and then to the big man with his two equally impressive, though not as large men and decided it was best to pretend nothing ever happened. "What happened?" John said with a grin before they grunted and began heading for the van with the slowly changing Puma and Wolf, though that was very hard to spot at this point. "Wait, what about Julia? She isn't around" John said, though not his favourite person he did want to know she was alright.

"Don't worry, she will be okay" he grunted before climbing into the van and setting off before any more awkward questions were asked.

Driving down the road they stopped partway as the revival drug was administered to the pair of transforming animals. Coming round groggily the Puma made to pounce the nearest man when the large man said "Wait!"

Stopping but not letting their guard down they both kept looking wearily to the three "I know this is difficult for you two. My name is Francis Yarl and I need your help. I know you had a human with you two, and I can tell none of you are him or her. Do I have your help to find and retrieve her safely? And don't bother pretending to not understand as I full well know you do".

After seeming to think a bit about the situation the puma said "WHAT, WANT, WITH, US?" Sandy snarled, unsure about these strange men.

Just then a bear morph that had been recently concealed under a sheet came out of hiding in the van and said "because we trust them, thanks to them we haven't been put down yet as been monsters".

They both bared their teeth to him as the bear continued "I'm sorry for hiding myself but we can't risk the world seeing us properly just yet. I used to be in the same situation and now your master has gone, I know it's a female as I can smell her on you both" he said. "She will be shot on sight if you don't let us help you" the bear said, doing his best to not seem threatening to the pair. "You have to trust us" he made to lie down in front of them to show that he wasn't a threat to them.

After the pair had been convinced more by the bear then the humans, Sandy and Kane assisted them as they drove to the back end of the forest making it well into night time by the time they got to searching for her.

They spent an hour searching for Julia with only the three been able to go given the humans would only slow things down. They was still changing but it was a lot slower and less painful than a human changing from the virus as they continued their search, the bear following the pair as they knew her scent.

Finally they heard something rustling nearby to find her perched on a tree branch, hissing with her ears flat and her claws out, the hiss sounding odd with her longer muzzle, not quite long as a wolves but long enough. "Julia, it us" Sandy said to her as she found it hard to cope with seeing her former master like this. Their speech came a little easier now as they started to develop the vocals to communicate better and a slight shift in their original mouth shape.

Julia had a black mane but apart from her odd appearance she looked almost indistinguishable to a wild animal as she looked like she had never once been human. Julia came down from the tree as the bear retreated to silently get his own dart gun which was adapted to his big paws and less manoeuvrable digits. "Julia...is us, please" Kane said, a slight whine in his throat to her as she slowly climbed down and gave them both a tentative sniff before nuzzling each in turn.

As the bear got the dart gun aimed he was suddenly jumped on by Sandy and held in a grip round his neck "our master, you no touch her, we handle!" she said to him in warning. Getting up and rubbing his neck he grunted before stalking off to the van with Julia following them.

It took slightly more time than finding Julia but they finally got her back to the van and with a little extra coaxing, got her into the van and began driving off with her settled next to her two former pets. Sandy and Kane had been told about a virus that had been engineered by a human that was turning any human or animal into a crossed combination of the two, but the pair seemed only concerned for Julia as she seemed to just doze, exhausted from events. "It's truly sad when they go this way, but nothing we can do about it now" Francis said to the bear behind him.

"Why is it she became almost completely feral? And why doesn't she need the stabiliser drug?" the big bear asked his human friend.

"Because she got a heavy DNA dose of not one, but two sets of animals which has overridden her human mind. Her mind has literally been reprogrammed. And she has also changed more than the norm, it is rare and sad but it happens" he said with a grim expression.

"Will she ever be alright then?" he said, looking at Sandy and Kane as they nuzzled Julia worryingly, knowing something was not right.

"That my friend, is something we will have to wait and see about" Francis said with a tired sigh. "And I question if the world will ever be ready to accept those fit for it, all we can do is follow the higher ups orders though and just hope they are right" he said, rubbing the bears head, earning a soft growl from him of concern.
