Chapter 1, Part 1: Mysterious E-Mail
I just came from lunchtime. Sitting on a table alone didn't bother me at all. It was better for me because I didn't have to deal with others. Plus, it felt comforting when concentrating on my homework. Seems to be a bitch right now, but I'm trying to get used to it, since I can't go to the library or other places during lunch time. Those are the rules, and I hate them. As soon as I reached to the classroom, some announcement from the principal called for me...
"Trey, can you come to the principal's office?" The vice principal said from the telephone in the room. The students started to look at me, then started to gossip.
"What he did now?"
"I knew he was trouble; the damn rat!"
"Hmm...good for that fool..."
It started to irritate me but I didn't care. I just left the room just to get away from the ridicule of the students. What it was now, I thought. I know that I didn't do anything for the whole school year, so I don't know why me. Maybe it was the fact that I didn't have any parents, but so what? I just hope he doesn't say that he wants to adopt me. I'm not in when it comes to being some sort of teacher's or principal's pet.
I went inside the principal's office. Mr. Vick better not piss me off.
"Hello, Trey." Mr. Vick said.
"Hey, Mr. Vick."
We shook each others hands and he told me to take a seat.
"Trey, I noticed a number of complaints about you. May you tell me what have happened in class from 2 weeks before to now?"
"Hmph...people can be so ignorant, especially classmates. I don't know why they try hard to get me outta this school. Really, they're envious of me."
"You think that's the reason, the reason why they sending complaints?"
"Yeah, and?!"
"You just don't get it sometimes, do you?"
"What I don't get is why people are only putting their attention on me instead of themselves. It pisses me off."
We were silent for what it felt like 4 minutes. The principal was looking at his email on his computer. He jumped up out of his seat, like he seen a ghost or something. Then he calmed down.
"What's wrong, Mr. Vick?" I said, wanting to know what's going on.
"It seems like I got a letter...from one of your parents!" Mr. Vick replied.
"That's bull, and you know that I don't have parents. I live by myself!"
"I know it's hard to believe but...wait! Your parent sent a meeting address. It's going be at...39 Rayne blvd. Time, as soon as you reach there. I don't trust this. I don't think you should go at all ok, Trey? Trey, are you okay?"
The reason why he asked me that was because that I don't believe that the fact that I have any parents and my face were still, without any emotion. And a person who claims to be my parents, they're going to pay for using my birth giver's name and get away with it!
"Mr. Vick, don't interfere in this. I have to settle this on my own." I said.
"Do you even know the person?" Mr. Vick asked.
"No, but that person is going 6-feet under after this. 39 Rayne blvd, right? Later"
Mr. Vick blinks and tries to grab me, but I was too fast. "Trey! Wait, come back!"
I jumped from the window behind Mr. Vick's desk. I broke the window with my body, arms crossed to cover me. Then as soon as I hit the ground, I roll to lessen the impact of the drop. Then I left to the train station leading to or that's closer to 39 Rayne blvd. I was able to reach to the IVL train and go to Rayne Blvd. Now all I have to do is find the address and I'll go over to the place. I asked some people where 39 Rayne Blvd was at. All of them didn't know the address. I was about to give up until this one person told me that the place was under construction. He showed me the place and I thanked him, although it did seem unusual for someone to help me and point me to a construction site. I decided to forget about it and go straight for the site, wanting to pummel the ones who claim to be my parents.
Chapter 1, Part 2: Exploration
I have reached inside the site. The place looks almost finished. All they have to do is just add in some glass and other things. There was an elevator straight towards me that seems to be working. I went towards it and opened the door. I made a slight smile as the elevator was on and running, but my smile went back to a serious face because it did seem unusual to me. I mean, first the email to my principal, the man that led me to this place, now the elevator working?! It seems as if they are leading me to them directly.
I went inside and looked at the buttons for the elevator. Sadly, the only button was the one leading to the basement. I pressed that button and down I went. I needed a plan on how to approach this, but I don't know the layout of the place, so it's going to be difficult. However, this seems interesting now. But I'll have to focus on my objective, and that is to find out who sent that message to the principal and why call me out like this, and why use my parents' name to cover their true identity.
When the elevator stopped, the doors opened, showing a rocky path to somewhere. I was getting a little timid, but I have to find out who was the person, and standing on one spot isn't going to help anything. I went deeper into the cavern, making it harder to breathe. I stumbled onto a room. It looks like one of those break rooms you would see in some hospital or clinic. The color was clean white, few tables in the middle of the room; like 13 of them, some cupboards at the left, a counter on the right, and if you take a closer look, there would be a place as if it was suitable for a few chefs to work in, and a door at the other end of the room.
I decided to check the room to see if there was anything that would be useful. I check the cupboards first. Sometimes, I thought that the cupboards would usually be where the counter would be or behind the counter. As I checked in, it looked like items that I don't even know, or anyone wouldn't know, so I figured that for the time being, they were useless to me. I checked behind the counter and I found an iron pole. It wasn't long or short, but it's good enough.
My ears perked as I heard the door at the other end. I ducked down and just stayed there. I heard some footsteps, followed by some tapping. That seems weird. I asked myself why I would hear tapping after a footstep. Luckily, there was an opening at the right side of the counter so I could take a peek, but it was a bad thing as well because I might get caught. But I feel as if I'm getting so damn close, so I took a peek to see who or what the ones that came in were.
I widen my eyes in shock as I saw the people...well...I wasn't sure if I could call them "people". There were two animals, walking upright. One looked like a raptor, green scales mixed in with some brown, four claws; the tail's long; like 8 inches, wearing a white coat; as if he was a doctor or something. Then there was this other one that looked like a lion. He had brown fur, a mane, the face that a lion would have, a medium build, his hands looked almost like a human, but he had the feet of the lion. He was also wearing a white coat. What surprised me even more was that they were speaking English.
"So...how was work at your side, Krragh?" The lion said.
The one called Krragh shrugged, "Same old, same old. I can't wait for the special guest to come, Januk."
Januk sighed, "I don't see what is so "special" about this guest."
"Oh really? This one has the genes of all of the races in this place. Plus, he's a young kid. Can you believe that?"
"What? Are you serious? You got to be joking!"
"The boss said it himself. So...aren't you going to wait for him and see who it is or what? We could always do the rundown after, you know." The raptor gives the lion a playful lick. I blinked at what the raptor did, as I've never thought they would have any type of sexual orientation as the beings above would. I guess I was wrong, but I can't focus on that now.
I stayed behind the counter, but my nose was itching and some dust was getting in. I sneezed out of nowhere and covered my mouth in shock after. Fuck...now I'm screwed, I thought. I need to find a way how to get out of this room and go deeper, now that I'm hearing the steps coming closer to the counter. I grabbed the iron pole and jumped from the counter and slam the pole on the raptor's shoulder and sweep it to his feet. He returns a yells when he was hit on the shoulder and a groan when he hit the ground from the sweep. I thrust the pole to the lion's stomach and did a sweep on him as well. It seems as if the first attack didn't do much but push him back and he gave a small grunt, but the sweep did some effect and he made a small growl before fainting. As soon as they were down, I fled the premises and went to a new area.
I decided to take a break after the fight and sat down on the floor. I decided to think for a little. Although it didn't seem as if the anthro creatures didn't seem to pose a threat, I cannot let myself to be seen. Maybe after I'm done with my situation, I'll go back and apologize. It does seem the right thing to do for defenseless doctors. Then again...maybe not. I begin to think about the one who sent the e mail. Is he like one of those beasts that I've fought or are they're other types? I needed to know a lot of these things so that I will be able to figure out what to do in the future, but I guess I should worry about that later.
When I was done taking my break, I loosened some of my joints before continuing to the underground passage. After few minutes, I found another room. It was quite bigger than the last one, and more different and complex, with more of the construction scene going on. It seems to be the working area of the place, I thought. I heard some hammers hitting onto iron, saw blowtorches melting metal, and there was other tools that I've never seen before; most of them looking futuristic. So...this is why there was some blackouts above ground, I thought. I was behind a fence gate, and below I saw workers of different races doing random projects and other important things.
I looked at my left and there was another door, and behind it, I'm guessing another pathway, maybe with some guards, maybe it could be free, but I'll never find out until I check. I opened the door and took a peek outside before I did something stupid. I saw an anthro gorilla by the door I was peeking; dressed like a bouncer you would usually see in nightclubs, but he wasn't close enough to see me looking though. There was an anthro rhino dressed in a jump suit. Why is a rhino dressed in a jump suit? I widen my eyes when I just noticed how familiar the outfit was. What the fuck?! It looks exactly like the jump suit that chick was wearing from" Kill Bill"! Is this some kind of joke?!
"Hey Ranaak, so did the boss tell you about our special guest?" the gorilla said.
The rhino shook his head. "No...he kept saying that it was a surprise and he didn't want to spoil it. I wonder what's so special about him or her anyway." He shrugs a bit. "I can't see why I have to wear these threads, Hunrean."
Hunraen chuckles a bit. "I don't know. It looks good on you." He chuckles again. "It looks good, especially with those muscles bulging out of it." He winks at the rhino, and then he would go and caress his chest.
The rhino smirks and rubbed the gorilla's head. "Let's take this in a room, shall we?" He returned the wink to Hunraen, then they would go somewhere else, but it looked as if they were going left.
I sighed a bit. Well...that was something. I didn't expect things to turn out like that, but it's a clean sweep for me. Anyway, I must move on. And that I did. I looked at each direction; including the way that I came from in case someone was following me. The two anthros I saw went to the left way, so I'm not going to risk my ass and get caught, although it seems that they are not coming out for a while. So the only options were to go back, go forward, or go right.
I didn't want to go back because I felt that I was close to seeing what was going on, and who is this kid everyone is talking about? I doubt it's me because I don't see anything special about me...or is it? Anyway, I decided to worry about that in a later time and worry about how to reach to that mysterious person. I took the middle route, trying to be silent as possible.
As I was walking, I heard some footsteps that didn't sound like the ones that you would hear with sneakers or boots over. It sounded like a clamping sound, as if I was hearing hooves hitting the floor. I looked behind me, and no one was there. Plus, I was walking in the route where it had no doors on either side. I shrugged my shoulders and continued walking. Then I heard the footsteps again. I looked right behind me and still, no one was over there. I started to get scared; my heart racing fast; beads of sweat trickling down my face. I was never this scared before, so why now? Was it the fear of getting killed out of nowhere when I was so close of finding my answer? Or was it the fear that the something that I find out really turns my life upside down?
I started to run slowly, so that I could hear where the stalker's footsteps. I heard them getting closer and closer, which gave me a thought that he was trying to kill me. With all of my energy, I ran in quickness, trying to flee from the stalker. Suddenly, I slipped on the floor and fell with my face making contact to the steel floor first, making me yell in pain, then the rest of my body fell, but my knees made contact with the floor with more impact. I tried to get up and run for it, but the pain was too hard to endure, and I couldn't get up that fast due to the hard drop I took on my knees, so the only best thing I did was crawl.
I looked behind me to see if I was able to catch a glimpse of my stalker, and I did. He was just standing above me. He looked about my height too. He had a cloth covering his face, only showing blood red eyes. He had horns protruding from his head, and he was clothed in a black and grey pants and long sleeve shirt with matching gloves covering his hands. He was wearing no footwear, which explained the clamping footsteps I've heard.
I looked at him with terrified eyes, scared of what he would do to me. The covered anthro pulled out a cloth from his pocket. I could smell it from a distance, and it had a strong scent to it, also smelling some chemical which made me cough a little. The creature put the cloth over my face, making me cough a little rougher, and then my eyes started to drop slightly. Was this chemical implanted with some sleep inducing drug or poison? That I don't know, but all I could remember was I heard his sinister laughter and I only saw darkness as I fell...
Chapter 1, Part 3: Confrontation
I was having a lot of stuff on my head when I fainted. The stuff I was thinking was that if I should've stayed in school and forget about the whole e-mail business, but would they come after me anyway? And what if they did, would they killed me and use me as their food? I guess I would find out as soon as I wake up. As I did, I was laying on a bed, with no cover or sheet whatsoever. I got up, stretching my limbs and yawning for a bit. I looked at the surrounding area, but all I ever saw was darkness; not a hint of light ever showing. I looked at myself, wearing the same clothing that I was wearing; same hoodie, same jeans and sneakers, so I guess they didn't try any funny stuff during my sleep.
I jumped out of the bed, stretching and yawning again, and then I rubbed my eyes. I made a few steps away from the bed until I heard a voice, which sounded like a male.
"Heh...so...you're awake. How was your slumber? I hope our guard wasn't too rough with you."
As soon as I heard the voice, I looked in different directions; trying to see if he was close, but to no avail, the room was still pitch dark to look. Then I heard his voice again.
"What? Can't find me? I'll turn on the lights for you." And that he did. I looked at my surroundings and I was inside a room that looked like an arena, and outside the arena was anthros behind a steel cage fence, a lot of different species looking at me, varying from A to Z, all staring at me, some of them smiling in some ways that could be described while others had a serious, stiff look on them.
After looking what was at my sides and behind me, I looked in front and eyed the mysterious person; the one that send the e mail and the bastard that made me come to this. He looks at me, sitting down on a leather chair that you would see in offices, but with no table in front of him. I could only see what he was wearing, but not his face due to the fabric he was wearing to cover it. He was dressed up in a light grey suit with blue pinstripes with matching pants. His footwear was black leather with no laces. I was angry and afraid at the same time; my hands balling up to fists. I was about to talk, but I couldn't find any words as my fear took control.
"What happened, Trey? Cat got your tongue, or you're surprised to see such a crowd? I could get rid of them if I want, but they so want to know what you were all about, so I couldn't resist such attention and the curiosity...you understand, right?"
I didn't make a sound nor move a part of my body. All I could do was stare at the figure in front of me. The figure chuckled; pushing a button on his chair. A chair and table came from the ground; part of the floor flipped into the furniture. He extended a long finger; which ended with a claw, so I've figured that he was an anthro as well.
"Come...make yourself comfortable. No use standing and make your blood circulate."
I nodded slightly and went over to the seat, then sitting on it. The mysterious male chuckled a bit and would tap the table with his fingers.
"I didn't know that you would actually take the e mail too personal. I'm sorry if I offended you."
I growled and managed to find some courage saying, "Yeah well...that's what happens...when someone poses as my parents. Now tell me what the hell is going on."
The other would shake his head. "Tsk, tsk, tsk...I knew this would happen. You don't remember who you are, aren't you? I guess its time for a science/history lesion, don't you think?" He waved at the table, and then a visual computer screen popped up, making me jump a little. I tilted my head a little; not understanding what was going on. What did he mean by I don't know who I am, and what did he mean by a science/history lesion? Right now, there is no time for sessions, especially at a time like this.
"Oh...and by the way, I'm Jakkaran." He would cough a little. "Dammit...so hard to breathe with this scarf covering practically my entire face." He loosens the scarf a little; only enough for me to see the skin. His skin was pale white, which had a smooth look to it. And now that I had a closer look at him, he had a vertical slit while the red hue surrounds the slit when on the other eye, it was a regular human eye, which made me think a little and gave me the urge to ask a few question.
"Ummm...dude...what's with the different eyes? Are you some kid of freak show? And if you are, is that the reason that you have your face all covered up that you can't even breathe?"
The surrounding anthros gasped from the questions that I have said. They then started to talk to their peers, making me think that I had offended their leader. The figure stopped what he was doing and looks at me; his eyes now narrow than before.
He sighed a bit and replied, "Wow...you teenagers are so rude nowadays. It's a good thing that I didn't bring my kid along to this. He would've been inspired by the crap you just said. But to answer your question, since I've might've guessed that this was all out of curiosity, the reason why I have this cloth is so that I wouldn't startle anyone with my looks. And no, I'm not some sort of a freak show. I'm simply a hybrid, which explains my red eye, as you probably had seen. Don't blame the person who bought the product; blame the one that made it with cheap material." He stopped talking and continued to look what he was looking for on his virtual computer.
I smirked a little and asked another question, meaning to be a joke. "So does that explain why the leather chairs feel so damn uncomfortable and sticky? It feels like someone had sex on this chair!" I perked my ears a little as I heard small laughter from the creatures at the sidelines.
Jakkaran slightly looked at me, his eyes a little narrow than before. "Actually, two males had sex on that chair a week ago with me in the mix. It was a private session. You understand, no?" Then I saw part of the fabric move a little around his jaw line, so it made me think that he was smiling. I widen my eyes and suddenly jumped from the chair, standing a few feet from it. "I didn't order for any germs to get on my clothes, you know."
"Well guess what? I was just kidding, fool. You should've thought of that when you started calling off jokes on me. Now let me finish on what I am looking for right now. Damn files are scattered all over."
I sighed a bit and crossed my legs; twisting and turning my neck softly. It was getting so long for this. I would fight him, but then he would release those anthros and I would've been outnumbered. So instead of retaliating in a brutal matter, I simply relaxed; humming a tune from a song I knew long time ago. I tilted my eyes to the hybrid working on his visual pc; scoping through different files; inputting different commands, then I looked at the beasts behind the fence; all of those eyes staring at me, making me feel a bit uncomfortable.
I sighed and groan, then I got up from my chair, slammed my hands on the table and I yelled, "OKAY! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?! I RECEIVED SOME DAMN EMAIL BY SOME STALKER USING MY LAST NAME AND STATING THAT THEY ARE MY PARENTS! I WANT TO KNOW RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I GOT NO TIME PLAYING MIND GAMES!" I started to breathe heavily after my yell. I looked at the anthros; widening their eyes as they heard my outburst. I caught some of them looking at Jakkaran; a few with a cocked brow. Then I looked at the hybrid; seeing that he was surprised to hear me. "What? You guys looked surprised...never seen someone yell before?" I said with a puzzled tone.
The hybrid blinked a few times before looking at his screen; nodding and looked at me as if he was ready to tell me something. "Trey...it's high time that you know the truth about yourself. It's a bit complicated, but I guess you would understand better if I told you from point A to point Z." He flipped the VC screen so that I would look. It looked like a computer design of a person, showing different blood, different genes and what now. "As you can see...this is a blueprint of a hybrid mostly resembling human, but with different genes in it."
I scratched my head a little and tilted my head; looking at the visual blueprint. "And...what does this have to do with the letter and the cover-up? I'm not getting answers with this chicken scratch."
The hybrid sighed a bit and continued. "20 years ago...this part of a group called The United Galaxies had a meeting with the leaders about making a new race, but with all of the universe's primary species genes. At first, there was a small disagreement that this couldn't be accomplished, but the leaders gave us their blessing to do so. So the pact made separate groups and went to each system, gathering the inhabitant's genes and returning the samples. Then...after 2 years of work, we made the first complete hybrid of each and every gene. Do you know who that is, young Trey?"
I thought for a minute, and then I snapped my fingers. "Well...on my way here, I did hear a lot of things about this one person that had every gene in this bitch, but I didn't know who it was...and I doubt it is me." I sighed a bit.
The hybrid then started to chuckled, and then he quickly changed to a loud laugh. "Oh my fucking....I can't believe that you still don't get it. Tsk Tsk Tsk, Trey..."
I growled a little and clenched my fist. "What's with the laughing? And What I don't get? Tell me now!"
The hybrid took off his scarf; now that I was able to see his face. He looks like a rat, but with some goat features as well. He had grey fur and horns protruding on his head, and his face had the mixture of a goat and a rat, but mostly seeing rat. "Trey...you're that person. You're a hybrid, just like me."
I widened my eyes as I heard the comment from Jakkaran. I slightly laughed, thinking that it was a joke. "He he he...April fools?" I managed to say.
"This is no joke, Trey. You see all of these beings standing around us, you was created by their genes; their DNA; their blood. This is no cheap child's game. This is real, Trey! You're the first of its kind to come out as a hybrid with a variety of different genes! Your body is like a library with different blood and blueprints, and most alien forces will come looking for you!"
I looked down to the floor with fear shrouding my face. Was it true what the other was saying? Am I really a project? Am I...a weapon? I glared at the hybrid; clenching my fist as I was ready to strike. "I know there is something more to this than being someone with an ass load of genes in my body! Tell me!" I said with anger.
Jakkaran slowly backs away, knowing that I was in a pissed off mood right now and he was hiding something else from me, but he didn't want to say it. "Please! Control your anger! I'll tell you everything if you do!" He said, sounding scared.
I was covered with my own anger; unable to hear the other's yells. As I heard his comment, I yelled to him, "Yeah right! And you would tell me more lies just to get away from this situation! It's not working because you're in hot water!"
I was getting ready to charge at him; my fists clenched tight. And as was about to hit Jakkaran, I felt a hard blow hit at the right side of my neck. Gasping from the pain, I fell down to my knees. I tried turning my head around so that I could have a good look on who did it, but to no avail, the rest of my body hit the ground, once again seeing darkness...
Author's note: The reason why I didn't put the character stats in the beginning was because I felt that if I did, it would spoil some of the story, so I decided to add it in when I'm done to give out the final confirmation. Anyway, I think I'm gonna snooze for a bit. Until then, enjoy this chapter until I make another. Later.
