Chapter 1

**Dwane**

Dwane sat in Social Studies, bored as hell. They were learning about the Civil Rights movement. He mumbled to himself "Fuckin' hypocrites." He was talking about the fact that ever since that scientist made a shot to make humans into furries, humans have been discriminating against furries. Dwane was once a human, but then got a shot to become a black cat furry.

Mrs. Helm coughed and said, "What was that Dwane?" Dwane sat up and said, "I called you a hypocrite. You're standing there saying that the way whites treated blacks was wrong, but you humans treat furries the same way, but see NOTHING wrong with it!"

Mrs. Helm sent him to the office, again. He sighed as he walked down hall. At least this was the last period of the day before free period with his friends and his girlfriend, Allie. She was a brown tabby cat furry and was a trouble maker like himself. His other friends were, Jake, a white timber wolf furry who was kind of a goodie-two-shoes, who is dating his other friend, Emma, an arctic wolf furry who was kind of the same way, but wouldn't stand for someone picking on Jake. Their other friends were Soedi, A gray wolf who was one of the most popular guys in school before he became a furry, and his girlfriend, Alexis, a gray cat who was also popular. It was odd that they all decided to be furries, but it was great for them. Dwane got to the office and knocked on the door, still mumbling "Hypocrites."

**Allie**

"WHAT!!!!" Shouted Allie, as she slammed her paws on Mr. Dost's desk.

He repeated, "I'm sorry but I have to kick you off the swim team." Allie was furious. She shouted at him again, "WHY!! I HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG!! I SHOW UP TO PRACTICE ON TIME, I'M ALWAYS THE FASTEST, AND I'M THE BLOODY CAPTAIN." He stood and said, "If you're going to shout at me then you can just leave my office right now."

She stormed towards the door and then turned saying, "It's 'cause I'm a furry, isn't it." He didn't answer. She turned back to the door and "I thought so," She walked out of his office with tears in her eyes. She had been on the swim team though all of High School, and now it's over. She walked alongside the pool and saw a janitor putting chlorine in it. She was so angry that she kicked the bucket of chorine straight into the pool, causing to be unusable for a week. She laughed to herself as the janitor reached in to grab the empty bucket but missed.

She knew she was going to get in trouble for it, but honestly she didn't care. She ran out into the hall before Mr. Dost saw her and stopped her. She ran to the room that she and her friends, Emma, Jake, Soedi, and Alexis. Oh, and her boyfriend Dwane meet in during free period. They were the only ones that would possible understand her right now, and the only ones who could comfort her.

**Jake**

Jake hated gym class. Not because he wasn't athletic, or because he got hurt a lot. It was because he was picked on for being a furry. The ass-holes in the school always called him furfag, wolfboy, or fucky. Gym was the worst. He got pushed, thrown, and even got beat. Today they were playing Football, his least favorite sport (Football as in American Football, not soccer). He always got partnered with the last person who didn't have a partner, because no one ever wanted to be with him.

They were throwing the ball back and forth as an exercise. His partner always threw it hard at Jake. He threw the ball like 3 feet over Jakes head and Jake ran to go get it. He grabbed it and turned quickly, getting nailed in the face with a football. His nose started bleeding, staining his pure white fur with crimson blood. He ran to the coach and said "Um, James threw a ball at my face. My nose is bleeding can I go to the nurse?" Coach White looked at his nose and said, "Ah, too bad about your nose, no you can't go." Jake protested, "But, it's still bleeding!" Coach retaliated "Well then suck it up like a MAN and get back to passing." Jake looked as if he was going to cry, but then nodded his head saying, "Yes sir."

If Dwane was here, he would have persuaded that jerk of a coach to let me go. Jake thought to himself. After a few minutes of passing, the bleeding stopped. He couldn't wait for free period next. He needed to see Emma. She had been the only girl in the school who wasn't a bitch to him, excluding Allie and Alexis but they had to be nice to him because they were his best friend's girlfriends. He thought about how they all would react to his fur. _ Oh god! Dwane's going to freak out and go get in a fight with James. That would only make things worse. I guess I could wash it off after class._ At that second the bell rang and he was the first one in the locker room.

He ran to his locker to get his backpack. On his way to his locker the bell rang for everyone to be in class. This didn't apply to him because he had a free period. He got to his locker and grabbed his backpack. He turned to go to the place where he and his friends would meet, but bumped in to James, the one who threw the ball at him. James was with Connor and Dylan. They were three of the most anti-furry humans in school. James pushed him back saying, "Where ya heading, buddy?"
