A Boy and His Lucario Part 15
#15 of A Boy and His Lucario Series
"Oh Celia! I thought I'd never see you again!" Lucario's tail rapidly wagged as he spoke. Celia laughed and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"I knew we'd see each other again some day." She giggled. The two continued to hug while John and Anissa met up.
"Hey there John! How have things been?" they gave one another a 'hello' hug.
"Things have been pretty good. So what have you two been up to?" John asked.
"Oh not much I suppose. Celia was kind of depressed for a while after you guys left but perked up eventually. I've got to say,CeruleanCityhas been pretty quiet with you guys gone." John laughed and looked to the pair of love bugs.
"Yeah, Lucario was the same way. He finally talked to our sensei and things got better." John and Anissa both laughed together; Lucario and Celia were still hugging. Anissa released a happy sigh.
"Those two are so in love. I just wouldn't be fair to keep them apart." The quality of her tone sounded like she meant something. John took notice and asked.
"What do you mean by that?" Anissa sighed and focused her eyes on Celia.
"John, my family is moving toCeladonCitynext week and the landlord of the house we're moving into doesn't allow Pokémon. I know you're a trainer and Lucario loves her..."
"So, you're saying you want me to take Celia?" Anissa slowly nodded her head.
"You two are the only ones I know that can take care of her. I don't want to have to give her up, but I have no choice. My parents won't allow me to become a trainer so I have to finish high school. What else can I do? Release her?" Anissa began to cry at the thought of releasing Celia into the wild. John wrapped his arms around her and tried to calm her down.
"No Anissa, I won't let you release her. She means too much to you and to Lucario. I'll make sure that she's taken care of with us. I promise you." Anissa buried her head in John's chest and cried harder. "I know it's not going to be easy giving her up, but you'll see this is the right choice. Other wise you wouldn't have asked me right?" John teased.
"But what if I never see her again?"
"I won't let that happen. I'll make sure we stay in contact so you can see each other when ever you want. I can even teach her to speak to you." Anissa shot back out of John's arms.
"What?! How can you teach a Pokémon to speak?" John chuckled.
"Well it's not literal speech. Lucario have a special connection to aura. They can manipulate it almost any way they please, including speaking. My sensei taught Lucario how, all they have to do is focus their aura and they can speak telepathically." Anissa looked really confused. John laughed. "Don't worry about it; I'll just make sure you two are talking to each other in no time." John put his arm around Anissa's shoulder and she began to relax. They watched the lover Lucario with smiles dominating their faces.
John and Lucario entered their room in the living quarters in silence. John slowly shut the door behind him and reached into his pocket. He pulled out a small Poke' Ball. Hitting the button in the center, the ball became larger. He hit it again and the ball opened, releasing Celia. Lucario was hugging her before John knew what had happened.
"Celia, how can you stay in those balls?" Lucario shuddered. "It's just not natural." Celia giggled and gave Lucario a kiss on the cheek.
"Come on silly, it's not bad!" The two laughed and held each other tight. John smiled as he watched them; he was so proud of his buddy.
"You two stay here, I've got to go talk to Ashito and Kyo about this." The Lucario nodded and John left the room. "I'll give you two a little privacy." He said under his breath with a snicker. He knocked on Ashito's door with an immediate response.
"Hey there John! What can I do for you?" Ashito asked in his usual happy tone. John couldn't help but smile at the big husky.
"There's something we need to talk about. We need Kyo too, let's go to his room." Ashito nodded and followed John who knocked on Kyo's door. The door slid open to reveal Ninetales.
"Hey there Ninetales, is Kyo in?" John asked.
"Yes, just a minute please. Kyo is attending to something." She said and shut the door. John and Ashito looked at each other with blank faces. Attending to something? Kyo opened the door before they could ask anything.
"Hey guys, need something?" Kyo asked as he rubbed his wrist.
"Yes actually. I need to talk to you guys about the trip tomorrow." John said.
"I can't wait! This'll be the first time I've gotten out in a while! And we get to travel too!" Ashito jumped up and down. John smiled again; this guy was just too much fun.
"Yeah, I'm looking forward to it too, but there's something you both need to know. Something we can't tell Sensei." John gestured for them to follow them to his room. He slid the door open and allowed the two to enter first. Both paused and stared at the bed. There sat two Lucario, one blue- the one they knew-, and one yellow. Both were enjoying candy bars. "Boys, this is Celia." Hearing her name, Celia looked up. She saw Kyo and Ashito and smiled.
"Hi there!" she said cheerfully. The boys smiled and bowed. "How do you do, little lady?" Ashito said with a tail wag.
"Celia belongs to a friend of mine." John explained. "She's also Lucario's mate. She'll be joining us on the trip."
"Yes! Lucario's told me all about it." Celia said happily.
"But John, you know what Sensei said." Kyo informed John.
"I know, but we really had no choice. My friend couldn't keep her anymore and it wouldn't be fair to separate her from Lucario again." Kyo sighed and shook his head.
"I understand John, but we can't disobey Sensei." Kyo turned around to leave when Ashito's hand caught his shoulder.
"Kyo, look at it this way. Do you intend on going without Ninetales?"
"No, but she was already covered in this."
"Yes, you're right about that. But take a look." Ashito pointed to the bed. Lucario and Celia were cleaning the chocolate off each other's faces with smiles and laughter. "Do you really want to be the one to break that up? Besides, if she didn't come, where would she go? She can't stay here alone and she can't go back to her original trainer. So what would you suggest?" Kyo sighed.
"Well when you put it that way, there's really nothing else that can be done is there?"
"No. But hey, she's a Lucario too! She'll fit right in in all of this!" Ashito perked his ears with a big smile. "Don't worry Kyo; this won't cause anything bad with Sensei or the trip."
"Let's hope you're right." Kyo said as he turned to leave.
John slowly opened his eyes and looked up at the window. Elegant sunlight shone into the room with exquisite beauty. John could see the trees outside sparkle from the morning dew. His bonsai tree looked rather happy absorbing the rays. He looked to the foot of the bed and saw Lucario and Celia cuddled up. He maneuvered out of bed as not to disturb their sleep and got dressed. He left the room as quietly as possible and headed outside. There was Ashito dressed in his kimono standing in the garden center, admiring Siegfried's flowers. A small bird had perched its self on his finger. He saw John and his tail began to wag.
"Good morning John! And my, it really is a good morning isn't it? The sun is shining brilliantly, the flowers look fantastic, and it appears I've made a new friend. I can't wait to see what the rest of the world will look like again on a day such as this."
"Yes is it a good morning. Has Kyo been out yet?"
"Nope, just me. I haven't seen Siegfried either and he's usually the first one up. I know that Sensei Hosokawa wants to see us all off before we leave though."
"Alright, I'll go get Lucario and Celia up then. We should get going as soon as we can." John turned around to head back inside when Ashito stopped him.
"John?"
"Yeah?"
"You make sure Celia is in her Poke' Ball before we leave." Ashito said somewhat sternly. John nodded with a grin.
"I will." Ashito smiled and began talking with his new bird friend. John couldn't believe his eyes; he'd never seen someone so at peace with the world before. How could someone with such a terrible past know such calm? 'Maybe there's something more to this husky than meets the eye.' John pondered. But his pondering was cut short by the realization that he needed to get moving. He made hast to his room to find the Lucario were already awake.
"Good Morning, Master!" Lucario happily greeted.
"Yes, good morning John!" Celia joined. John smiled and gave them both a pat on the head.
"Morning you two. Are you ready to go?" Lucario shot up and retrieved John's bag.
"Yes Master! We packed everything we could need on our journey! We've got your clothes, my clothes, her clothes, and lots of candy bars!" John chuckled and took the bag.
"Thanks you two. Now, it's time to go see Sensei Hosokawa." John turned towards Celia. "Sensei Hosokawa can't know you're coming along. I'll have to keep you in your Poke' Ball until we're out of here."
"Ok, that shouldn't be a problem." Celia nodded. John pulled her ball out of the bag and pressed the center button. With a flash of a red beam, Celia was withdrawn into the ball.
"I don't know how she can do it." Lucario shuddered. John grinned and patted his head.
"I can't imagine it either. Let's go."
Kyo, Ninetales, and Ashito were waiting outside. John and Lucario joined them in walking to the main dojo. Sensei Hosokawa was waiting inside with a large bag.
"Today is the day you all set out on your journey to find The Society of Mountain Lucario. I have told Siegfried and Donal that you are going on a training mission, so there should be no problems." All four nodded to his words. Sensei Hosokawa pulled some beige clothing out of the bag and gave it to Ashito. "You'll need to wear this trench coat and hat; the world's not ready to see a walking husky." Ashito nodded and put on the clothes.
"Thank you Sensei."
"John, Kyo, I want you both to wear your regular clothes, but make sure your kimonos are packed. While in public, I want you both to speak German. Make it look like your tourists. Remember, no one must know where you're going. Ashito, you can pretend to translate if anyone should need to know what they're actually saying."
"Ja, Sensei!" they all joked in unison. Sensei Hosokawa chuckled.
"Good, you've all got the hang of it. Now, go my students. Find The Society of Mountain Lucario!" And with that, the five exited the dojo and faded into the city.
"This place is huge! I've never been to Saffron before!" Ashito marveled at the bustling city.
"Focus, Ashito." Kyo interrupted. "We need to find the train station that'll take us to Goldenrod city in Johto."
"I know where that is!" John added. "I saw it when I came into town a few days ago. Follow me!" John led the way through the busy streets until they came to a quieter area. The train could be heard at the station a few blocks away. "Alright, does everyone remember the plan?" he asked.
"You've got it!" Ashito said. "You guys play tourist while I act like I know what you're saying." John laughed.
"You've got it big guy." Kyo joked. "Alright, let's head in."
The inside of the station was rather large, but then, aren't all train stations? The lobby was rather empty, with only a few people checking for train departures. The five walked up to the ticket counter were a man in blue uniform greeted them.
"Hello! How can I help you?"
"Wir möchten drei Karten für den Zug, bitte." Kyo said. The man looked confused.
"I'm sorry, what?"
"Oh, I'm terribly sorry, sir." Ashito butted in. "You see, my friends here only speak German." Ashito wagged his finger at them "Ich spiele tennis gern, es schmekt gut!" John and Kyo looked at each other. Did he really just say 'I like tennis, it tastes good'?
"Oh! I see! Well in that case, how can I help you?"
"We would like three tickets toGoldenrodCity, if you please."
"Of course, the next train leaves in 10 minutes. Let's see, that will be 100 poke' each." John reached into his bag and pulled out his wallet. He gave it to Ashito who divvied out the cash.
"Thank you, here are your tickets. Your Pokémon will have to return to their Poke' Balls on the train." Lucario's eyes widened.
"Thank you very much sir, and have a wonderful day."
The five walked to the platform and found their train. Kyo returned Ninetales to her Poke' Ball. Lucario shook and held John's leg.
"Master, I don't really have to go into a ball, do I?" his voice trembled. John knelt down and scratched behind Lucario's ear.
"Don't worry buddy, as soon as the train gets moving, I'll let you out. I'm sure it won't be too bad, Celia said so. Just trust me; you'll be out before you know it." John spoke as if he were comforting a small child. Lucario was still shaking a little and truly looked scared. John calmly looked into Lucario's trembling red eyes. Lucario slowly calmed himself and released his grip on John.
"Ok Master, put me in the ball." He said. John gave Lucario a kiss on the snout and pulled out a Poke' Ball. Lucario closed his eyes and readied for the beam that would soon pull him into the ball. John pressed the button and the beam hit Lucario, sending him into the ball. John stared at the ball in his hand and smiled faintly.
"I knew you could do it buddy." Ashito wiped a tear from his eye.
"That was very touching, John." He uttered. John smiled and looked at his friends.
"He's always been scared to death of these things. I don't know why though. This is his first time. Come on, let's get on the train."
With more German speaking and more pretending, the boys were given their own compartment. It was your average train cart; two bench seats facing each other and a large window to see the ride. After the train worker punched their tickets, Kyo pulled down the drapes on the door. The train started moving soon after. When John could see they were out of the station, he pulled out the Poke' Ball and released Lucario. Lucario immediately jumped into John's lap and threw his arms around him. Tears ran down his cheeks.
"Master, I thought I would never see you again!" he cried. John held Lucario with one arm and scratched behind his ear with the other.
"Oh come on, was it that bad?"
"I don't even know how to describe it, but it made me feel so alone, so far from you."
"Don't worry, Lucario. I'll always be here." John looked out the window at the scenery. "And soon, we'll find your family."
