#1 of A Boy and His Lucario Series

John was only 15 when his parents died. They were killed by members of Team Rocket when they refused to tell the thugs about the family secret. His parents were struck down right in front of him, for there was nothing he could do, he was not a trainer and had no Pokémon. It was lucky for him that Professor Oak was able to get there with his Pokémon and fended off the thugs, saving John's life.

In the following months, John lived alone in his parent's house and was able to make money by working as an assistant to Professor Oak. John learned many things about Pokémon while he was there, like type match ups and a Pokémon's personality. He knew that Squirtle were happy and playful, while Bulbasaur was calm and reserved. If he were fighting a Gloom, he would use a Charmander or a Growlithe. But one day, John found something in the field, something had never seen before; it was a Pokémon egg! He brought it to the professor immediately.

"Professor! Professor Oak!" John shouted as he sprinted to the research lab holding the egg high over his head. Oak ran outside to see what the commotion was about.

"What? What is it? Is something wrong?"

"No, professor, look!" John held the egg out in front of his face.

"Well, it looks like you've discovered and egg! Strange though, I've never seen an egg like this one before." Oak closely examined the egg with a confused look on his face. It as black and blue with what appeared to be one silver spot on each side. "Why don't you come inside and we'll examine it further. The two walked into the large lab and set the egg on a small examination table in the middle of the lab. Oak connected some wires to each side and turned on the super computer. He aimlessly typed with loud clacking sounds coming from the keyboard.

"Ah ha!" Oak said with a grin "I've found it! This is a..." Oak looked back at John. He was intently staring at the egg, not listening to a word the professor was saying. Oak chuckled a bit and walked over to the boy. "John?" John quickly snapped back.

"Yes, professor?"

"John, I know what Pokémon this is going to hatch into."

"That's great! What's it-"

"Hold on, I'm not done. John, I've known your family since before your parents where born. Your grandfather and I were great friends growing up."

"Oh yeah.... Grandpa...."

"Yes, you remember don't you?" John's grandfather was a world renowned trainer. He had been titled Pokémon Champion in all of the Pokémon leagues, expect for the Sinnoh. When John was 10, his grandfather and his Pokémon had set out for the Sinnoh region, but were never seen or heard from again.

"John, I think it's time you follow in you grandfather's steps."

"Wha?! You mean-"

"Yes, I want you to have this egg. This Pokémon will make an excellent partner for you. It is time you became a Pokémon Trainer." John was speechless; the only thing he could do was stare at his new egg. Untold marvels were to soon become known to the boy.

"But, professor, I don't know the first thing about Pokémon training."

"Oh yes you do." Oak chuckled "I've watched you care for the Pokémon here, you've learned a great deal about Pokémon before your journey will even begin. I know you have what it takes to care for this and all Pokémon. And someday, you will be a great trainer, just as your grandfather was." John began to tear up. He picked up his new egg and hugged it.

"Thank you so much Professor Oak! You wait and see, I'll become the greatest Pokémon trainer of them all, just like grandpa!"

"Good. I know you can do it. But before you set out, I'm afraid you'll have to wait for that egg to hatch."

"Ok, that'll give me time to prepare for my journey too!" John was getting pumped.

"Good, just make sure you come and see me before you leave."

"I will professor! Thank you!"

A Boy and His Lucario Part 2

It had been three months since John had received the egg he found from Professor Oak. He had turned 16 over those months, just waiting for his egg to hatch so he could finally begin his Pokémon journey. Every night he polished it, rotated it, and set...
