#3 of human

_ As the days went on, I found myself thinking before meeting her, would I ever find someone who would like me because of the way I acted, and not of the way I was born. I guess my answer was answered close to a week ago._

Close to a week had past since Brandon first met with Tundra and started to date her. Everyone at school by then knew the two were a couple, and whispers started to amidst about why she was dating a human. But nether rather didn't care about what everyone thought, they were happy and that's all that mattered to them. Ember still teased Brandon about having a girlfriend, and he would warn her not to make fun of him, because one day there would be a time where she found someone she liked, and he may start teasing her. But being the child she was, she didn't think that would happen for very long. Now the two were working together on a history report, and both had to pass in work of their own, Brandon was already done, and Tundra was on his computer chair that could spin as she groaned.

"But I don't wannaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" she moaned spinning in circles as Brandon sighed.

"Come on sweetie," he told her. "It's not that hard to do, just pick a human that you like, do a report of him or her and pass it in." she stopped spinning to look at him with a cheeky grin.

"There's only one human I like,"

"Oh?" he asked looking at the papers. "Who is it, or is he not in the list?" Tundra rolled her eyes then pushed Brandon on the bed kissing him strongly.

"It's you silly!" she giggled as Brandon laughed lightly.

"Sorry...school brain is on right now, and if you want kissy Brandon," he smirked. "At least do a few pages."

"Fine..." she pouted going back to the computer. "I just can't understand how you were able to get all this stuff done so soon!" Brandon rubbed the back of his head lightly as he shrugged.

"When you're the only human in the world," he answered. "You tend to want to learn about your kinds past and history."

"I guess," she answered typing away as she span to look at him. "Can I ask you something?"

"You just did," he smirked as she only frowned.

"I'm being for real here," she sighed and looked at him. "You think we started this relationship a little too fast?"

"I told you, dad told me about the imprinting thing."

"I know, I know," she muttered. "But it doesn't seem fair to you."

"Look," he answered back. "I like you a lot alright? That's all there is to it, you like me I like you some day we'll make the bed bounce like all do if we go that far," she blushed at this as he went on. "And plus, you're the first girl to notice me like that, and you know what?" he leaned closer kissing her softly. "I don't care if I was pulled into this fast like, because this," he held her hand lightly. "Makes it all the more wilder."

Downstairs, Norm, Jenny and Rick sat around the living room table as the grass like Pokémon spoke.

"You see," he answered. "They want me to become chief of police here, but I don't have the right training,"

"That's great!" Jenny clapped for her newly friend. "I mean, it is great, but why tell us now?"

"Well," he answered. "I would take Tundra...but I know she would miss Brandon too much, and I do trust her to stay by herself for a day or two...but for two week..."

"I think I understand," Rick answered as he nodded. "You want us to watch over her for you while you go train."

"If you don't mind at all," he asked. "I know it's out of the blue and all..."

"We can," Jenny answered with a smile. "Don't worry alright?"

"Thank you," he answered smiling. "I owe you two a big time for this,"

"Think nothing of it, when do you leave?"

"Tomorrow," he spoke standing up. "I think I'll go tell her."

"There in Brandon room as always, last door on the left." She stood up as well as Rick. "Come, we'll all go to see the two love birds," as they made their way toward the open door room, Jenny gave a loving sigh at the sight she was seeing. Brandon laid behind Tundra as the Pokémon slept in his arms, his own arms hugging her chest as she held onto them with her own, holding them toward the breast. He looked to be spooning her under the blankets he no doubt put over them, Tundra and him both with happy smiles on their faces. Norm smiled as well, seeing his daughter like this, ever since the two became girlfriend and boyfriend, she had never been happier; and he was glad to see her smile now, with all that was going on at home with her mother passing. Tundra groaned slightly, opening her eyes to see the three in the door way as she yawned, Norm walking up to rub her head.

"Hey honey," he whispered lightly as she moved away from Brandon grasp for a bit as he turned to lie on his back. "Just to let you know, you're going to be staying with Jenny and Rick for two weeks alright? I got to go do some training for my new job upgrade." She only yawned blinking her eyes then nodded laying her head on Brandon outstretched arm as she cuddled to his chest.

"Okay...daddy," she muttered slightly as she at once went back to sleep. Norm smiled and moved away, telling the other two that he would send over her clothing and other things in a bit, and to thank them once more for doing this favor for him.

The next day at school, Tundra told Brandon that she would eat with some of her girlfriends for lunch; he understood and gave her a quick kiss before going outside to see the football tryout go. Since he could never play the game because of his health issues, he would watch and sometime help out with the training.

"So you two are for real?" asked a tall husky female who fur were a light grey. "I mean, you two are the real deal?"

"Yes we are," Answered Tundra as the other girls looked to each other. "What, what's wrong with him being my boyfriend?"

"Isn't it...you know weird?" asked a brown beaver. "I mean no fur or scales, feathers, just...skin and hair on his head. I mean he looked like someone shaved a monkey!" Tundra just shook her head lightly as her friends went on.

"Listen girls," she spoke. "I don't care what Brandon is, I like him for who he is."

"Did you two...you know..." asked the husky as Tundra turned to her.

"Did we do what?" she questioned as the girl leaned closer.

"Have sex yet?" Tundra head reeled back, her cheeks blushing madly as she looked away.

"No..." she answered. "We haven't."

"So you told him once and he dropped it; like that?" asked a dragoness as Tundra looked to her.

"HE never even asked if we should have sex yet."

"What?!" they all cried at once. "But he's a male; everyone knows a male thinks with his dick and not his brain."

"Brandon isn't like most of the males here," she defended him. "He did tell me that if we did do it, that he would take it slow, and would only do it if I was not in heat and I wanted it."

"Wow..." they all breathed. "I wish some of the males here were like that."

"Yeah," went on another. "You're lucky to have a guy like him I guess."

"Yeah..." she smiled lightly. "I guess I am..." a few students started to run past them at high speeds causing the girls to look up from their food. One girl phone rang as she looked down to see a text as her eyes went wide.

"Oh shit!" she cried standing up. "Girls we got to go!"

"Why?" asked another as she was nearly running herself.

"Brandon just got stabbed!"

"What?!" screamed Tundra as she was up at once and following after her.

"Yeah, you're new here so you didn't know this, but last year this guy, a wolf name Fang thought he was the Alpha male of this school. He went around harassing almost everyone he could and no one dared rat him out." They pushed though the doors as the crowd was seen circling by the field. "One day, he brought a girl to the back of the school and was about to rape her when Brandon came out of the blue and knocked him out from what I heard, Fang vowed he would get Brandon back because he's been in a detection center for that whole time. Fact is, I guess he's supposed to still be there, wonder how he got out." Tundra was really only half listening, as she got closer, she pushed her way past the crowd as she saw Brandon laying on his back, a few of the teachers held at his chest, in about three different areas. Blood seeping from the shirts some students lent out as his face was pale; very pale.

"Brandon!" she screamed as she was about to run to his side when the gym teacher, a large horse with white fur and flowing yellow mane stopped her holding her back. "Let me go! That's my boyfriend!"

"He needs space kid!" the horse snapped at her. "If you get in the way, you really think that he'll live though blood lost?!" Tundra clamed down a bit as the wailing sounds of help was heard. His eyes were closed for a bit, his hands clutching at the grass as a few shouts were heard.

"Let me go right now!" someone screamed. "That damn freak had it coming anyway!" all heads turned to see two police dogs, greyhounds that looked pretty beefed up on muscles, holding a student close to Brandon age. He was a wolf kind, fur rustling up and eyes a deep red. His fur was as black as night, his tail had a white tip. His shirt was filled with blood, and Tundra could see that he was slashed as well, though not deep enough that he would need help. "First he knocks me out, and then cuts me back, ha! Hope the bastard dies too!" Tundra screeched as she tried to lunged at him, but the horse and few other students held her back as she went full throttle to grab at his face to claw him.

"You monster!" she screeched more as the van with the letters EHS on the parked close by Brandon limp body as they jumped out to see what was going on and see what would need to be done.

"Seems a few puncture hole in the torso and lower ribcage," one spoke, looking from a mixture of a cat and fox, orange fur being seen easily though her white uniform. "We can't move him until we at least fix up those wounds enough that he won't bleed out, go get the needle to stitch him up and get some alcohol; we're gonna have to disinfect the wounds before we can sew him up." the other one nodded his head as he ran back to the van as the police took Fang to their car, slamming the door as they came back, asking question to what happened. The horse letting Tundra go as she slowly made her way over toward Brandon, but was stopped again. "I'm sorry miss," the cat spoke. "You need to stay right there."

"He's my boyfriend," she answered as the cat nodded.

"I understand, but we need room to work, so please, stay back." She then looked down to Brandon and tried to wake him up. "Hey, come on man wake up and look at me." Brandon eyes opened, they looked bloodshot as he looked around. "Can you hear me, show me two fingers if yes, one if no." he couldn't move his hand that much, but his fingers showed two as she nodded. "Good, now do you know what day it is today?" again another two. "And how this happened?" two fingers once more. "Now listen, we're going to have to put alcohol on the wounds before we fix you up, it's going to hurt, and you can't move or your wounds will open more; understand?" Brandon didn't move his fingers for a while, his eyes traced over to Tundra, whose face drenched with tears as he at last gave the two fingers. The other one came back soon after, with the things that were needed. Taking the bottle and putting it on some cloth, she removed the shirt covering the first wound, and pressed it to the slash.

At once he screamed and body jerked a bit as they held him down, causing Tundra to openly cry as the two started their work. Close to half a hour later, he was fix up enough to go in the back of the van, Tundra got in at once, holding onto his hand the whole way as they drove with the sirens on toward the medical center. As the Grovyle Pokémon sat on the chair watching as the cat women placed the breathing mask over his mouth to help him breath, she took his hand lightly in her hands, seeing the bruises and cuts on his fingers. She came to think what her Sceptile father would tell her to do at this moment, but became lost in her thoughts as she couldn't find the answer. His breathing slow and shallow, his skin still the same pale as the cat brought a bag filled with blood and brought a needle to his arm, lifting the bag until it hung over him.

"He lost a lot of blood," she told Tundra. "I'm surprised he was able to even move his finger with all he lost back there."

"Will..." she stuttered looking at her then Brandon. "Will he be alright?"

"He got some pretty nasty wounds here," she told her pointing to the slashes, even though they were sewed up; they still left out the small trickle of blood. "I can't be sure if that wolf kid got anything of importance like the liver or heart," she pointed to the left side of his chest which looked to be where his heart would be. "If he truly did get stabbed there...we would have a very bad..." at once the human body began to shake slightly, his body went stiff as Tundra let go of his hand in fear. "Shit!" cried the cat. "John! Get there faster, he's body is going into shock!"

"I'm going as fast as I can!" he cried back pushing the van to the limit. He picked up the radio beside him and spoke in. "Please be known, victim, name Brandon Phoenix, race human. A stabbing victim is now going into a sate of shock, please be known, ETA three minuets, all staff free are needed!" he slammed it down as the call back was heard that Tundra couldn't understand as she watched Brandon with fearful eyes as his body went haywire. Once the van stopped, the door flung open as many doctors with face mask took Brandon and put him in a stretcher and pushed him though the doors. Tundra saw Jenny and Rick with Ember clinging tightly to her mother leg as the older dragoness was standing by the counter, trying to get any information about Brandon heath. Once he rolled past them, Jenny started to follow, but Rick held her back along with Ember, he knew that the doctors needed to work on him, and the less people who could stay out of the way the better.

Tundra tried her best to tell the three dragons what she saw and heard, about a wolf that attacked Brandon as Rick at once growled low. Jenny held onto Rick lightly as the four waited for what seemed like hours. The first hour came and gone slowly, the doctors would come out at times, asking if they needed anything to drink or eat, they refused, but sometimes Ember would ask for something to drink. Another hour past, and the same doctor came out to say they found a piece of the knife used by Fang stuck in his heart, Jenny burst into tears as Rick held her close as Tundra wept softly as well. He informed the group that he was now fine, once they removed the metal and fix the tear, once that was done, and then the worse would be behind Brandon, he was going to be fine if all went well. Jenny was still crying, but of pure joy now as she asked if they could see him, the doctor shook his head telling them that he was still in the ER. Yes they did remove the metal, but now they had to carefully fix the tear in his heart; it would take a few more hours, but then they could see him.

True to his word, they were allowed to see Brandon, he was still sleeping, needles in his arm with more blood being transferred into him by the arm. His face now back to the tan color slightly, he was shirtless, save for the wrapping around where the wounds would be. Ember went up to one side, shaking his arm lightly trying to wake him, but he would move, Jenny held her back after a while, and Rick asked if Tundra could stay with him for a moment while they got something to eat. She nodded her head and pulled a chair from one side of the room toward the bed, watching as he slept. Her hand once more went inside his own hands as she watched him sleep, the beeping that measured his heart was the only thing that was heard as well as his slow breathing.

"Come on Brandon..." she whispered. "You gotta wake up; your family needs you...as well as me." She leaned forward, resting her head on his arm as she closed her eyes. "You gave us all a scare; I thought for sure that...you were going to die...when you started to shake like that..." she didn't notice that his hand that she was not holding, started to twitch as she started to speak to her, eyes fluttering a bit as with her head down on his arm, she couldn't see that as well. He did hear what she said just moments before, a small smile on his face as a small chuckle was heard from him, though it did pain him to laugh a bit. Tundra head shot up looking at her human boyfriend with wide teary eyes as he gave a small smile.

"What...?" he asked slowly. "Trying...to get rid of me...already?"

"Brandon!" she screamed hugging him tightly around his neck as he nearly screamed in pain.

"You crushy...can't breathy...!" she the released him at once as he fell back to the pillow, she ran out for a moment, a few doctors coming in to look over at him as they asked him some questions.

"We'll call your family up Mr. Phoenix," one doctor said as he patted Brandon shoulder lightly. "Now before I do, you are going to have to stay here for the next few days, just so we can fully make sure you are fine. Second, when you do leave you must take it easy, no running or anything that could reopen your wounds got it?"

"All clear doc," Brandon answered with a small smile. "Can I at least eat...I'm freaking starving over here!"

"Brandon!" cried Tundra. "You got stabbed at least three times and you're worried about food?!"

"Hey," he answered with a smile. "Dude's gotta eat right?"
