Chapter Six: A Killer's Apprentice.
Feeling warmth, I awoke to a familiar dog. He was nuzzling me, as if worried I wouldn't awake. I looked around the darkened shape concealing me. The scent of leather came, and I felt vibrations ringing through my body. They intensified, until all of a sudden, the entire room jumped up. Landing down with a thud, a familiar face looked back to me. Holding my head, I stared into the darkened face. "Guess who's awake." Her voice came, and I looked into the darkness. Lights sprang from in front of me, and the world was moving towards me. "Where am I?" I spoke, looking into the aluminum chassis. "In the back of a truck." She replied with a laugh. 'What?' Looking back at Caesar, he kept nuzzling me. Bringing my arm up to stop him, he only intensified his purpose. "What's with this dog?" She looked back, and giggled at the sight. "I wish you would tell me, because it really seems like he likes you." Looking into his deep brown eyes, memories pelted my head once more. I learned more about this life, but I still felt that large gap. Caesar is the last surviving member of my family here, I found him when I was younger, saving the stray pup from the dangers of this new world. "So, your name's Blake, Angelus, Dushku." Fylakas spoke this time, his tone was cold, and I barely heard him over the oddly loud engine. "What?" "Your first name's Blake, middle name's Angelus, and last name's Dushku." Kiyoko spoke much louder than him, as I tried standing up. A cold touch of steel hit my side. Looking towards it, I saw a hilt. A golden silk was placed around the hilt in a basic pattern, within the silk, a dragon made of blackened steel was coiled upon it. My heart stopped, along with the truck. With the sounds of footsteps out the side of the vehicle, Caesar started barking franticly towards a small door. Looking upon it, the door opened, leading me into the darkness of the night. Fylakas eyed the blade I was holding, having it sheathed I knew he saw no threat. "Yes, we found that in bedroom you were sleeping in." Looking upon the blade I already could tell it was old and authentic. I then looked upon the shapes of buildings, the peaceful sounds of waves came to me, along with the scent of saltwater. "It's like our home here." She was dead silent when she popped up beside me. Looking into a flickering light, I stared in awe at the large solid shaft that came from the earth. I saw her eyes catch onto what caught my attention. "It's a lampost, there everywhere around here. Now let's get inside, we have a lot to do tonight." Watching her fade into the darkness of a huge door, I followed with hesitation. I had no idea of what would happen, or what was in there, but I went in blindly with that small curiosity. Stumbling through darkness, I finally saw a light turn on. Letting my eyes adjust, I stared into a wall with assortments of finished metal upon it. Studying all of them, from the handles to the barrels, a new memory came to me, a memory so painful that it caused me to black out. Breathing heavily, I moved quickly through a sanded and sunny landscape. The repetitive sounds of cracks rang throughout the desert. Within this, a small black object landed within my view, and exploded with a bright light. The next thing I saw was the sky, and the face of a massive animal. Dragging me back to safety, I saw him wield a camouflaged metal object, and pulled a trigger. Watching the flashes from the barrel, I watched as something pierced clean through him. Watching his body wretch back with every strike, he finally hit the ground, hardly with a final breath. Within the yelling, I felt myself being forced up. Looking into the yellow eyes of another figure, she had a small cry of rage. Inspecting upon my injuries, I was finally well aware of the shrapnel within my chest. Feeling the burning metal as if it just came, I let out a cry of pain, and saw a shadow move towards us. Watching the silhouette lift something within the air, I lurched forward, with a knife raised. Paring into his armor, he yelled in a painful rage, and shoved me off. The pain was immense, enough to keep me upon the ground. Raising his weapon towards them, I threw the knife I had. Watching the blackened steel of the blade spin forward, I stared in pain as the blade cut deep into his wrist before he could let a shot out. Then I felt hands grab me by the shoulders, and shake me awake. Gasping out, I looked around the room. Looking up to the rack of weapons, I stood up, and pulled one off the rack. "Hey, put that down." Kiyoko ordered. Looking upon the firearm, I snugged it up to my shoulder, and looked down its iron sights. "Hey." She spoke again. "Your back sight is off to the left, you really should have this adjusted. Also, if you went ahead and actually cleaned this; it would help the rifle from jamming." Putting the gun back to the counter, I looked almost as shocked as she did. Already knowing that she knew how to handle stuff like this, I knew that she wasn't even expecting me to know what it even was. "Blake, Kiyoko, get in here." Upon hearing Fylakas's voice, Kiyoko went as if trained to, I followed shortly after studying the weapons more. "I have your first job Blake." Listening to him talk, I kept focusing on the forced memories in my mind. Getting the basics of what Fylakas told both of us we were shortly on our way to a target. Within a darkened alleyway, Kiyoko jumped up to a set of steel bars, and pulled them down to reveal a ladder up. Looking in confusion, I asked her multiple questions of where she was going. Following her up it, I only heard her voice talking to herself, relaying information and receiving it. Looking into the sheet of darkness in front of me, I noticed a small shadowed object in her ear, and heard the small voice coming from it. 'Up here." Pointing towards a solid a wall upon the roof, she jumped forward, and pulled herself higher. I followed shortly after, until she disappeared to the feeble cries of help. Losing her quickly, I stood within the darkness, and finally I heard a younger cry for help. Running forward, I saw my view stop, than I closed my eyes and jumped. I landed on the lower platform of another building, Hearing the cries near me, I saw a small shape holding onto the concrete side. Moving forward, I saw it the shape of a cat holding on, the small whimpering he made truly showed his fear, like how I felt staring into the shadows of hell upon that field. Standing above him, I bent over to grab his hand, but his grip slipped. "No!" diving down, I grasped the cats arm, and felt my body hit the concrete wall. Opening my eyes after a moments fear, I stared down the tremendous height. Watching the path of lights below me like a constant river flowing, and feeling the small nights wind caressing me, I almost felt peace with this. Looking to my saviour, I only saw my hand. Like instinct, I must have grasped the roof when I dived for the cat. "Hey, sir." His voice young, I looked to the cat. "I know you saved me and all, but I would really like it if you would pull me up." Having a moment to think, I used my body to rock back and forth. Gaining the right momentum, I was able to put him back to the rooftop. To my surprise though, I felt a shift on my hand, a shift that broke the stone I was holding onto to, and let me fall into the night. Watching the stream of lights coming towards me, I felt a blaze, as my body sped up. Watching the sun rise, I felt lighter. Finally able to see the bare patch of a gray landscape, my heart stopped and then I suddenly saw another light.
