"I will." I said smiling and lifting one of my hands to rest on her's "I will go back, and I will bring them to justice." I said my voice filling with pride as a strange filling starting to well inside of me. "I will do my best to make sure that they never get a chance to do it to anyone else." I said smiling and looking the Goddess in the eyes. "That's what I wanted to here, my child." She said smiling and walking past me, tugging at my hand as she walked. "Right through here." She said walking me to a door and resting her other hand on the knob. "Thank you." I said as we reached the door, and she opened it. The light that poured out form it was blinding, but strangely warm and welcoming. "Go child, your body wont last much longer with out a soul." She said patting me on the back and nudging me through the door. I took a deep breath and stepped into the door, hearing it closing behind me. The light completely surrounded me as I suddenly felt like I was falling, the sensation only lasted a short time. The light was swallowed by the dark waiting at the bottom of where ever I was falling. "Come on pup, you can't give up." I herd a strong, and stern male voice calling out to me. The pain of all my wounds rushing back as my soul found it's way back to it's damaged vessel. "This isn't looking good. O2 is low, he's lost a lot of blood." The voiced echoed again. I went to say something, but something stopped me, there was something running down my throat. "We just need to keep him alive till we make it to the hospital." Another voice called, this one a male's too, wise and hopeful sounding. "It's the gunshot wound that's causing all the trouble." He said, a sudden pressure on my mid section. "I'll call ahead and tell them to have blood and a lot of it ready." The strong voice said, as there was a small pinch on the back of my wrist. "Do we know anything about what happened to him?" "Not really. Some sketchy story about that woman finding him dying beside the road." he said. I was unsure if he had moved his hands, but I couldn't feel it, or anything really. I could tell that I was passing out again. "No, other than a bloody name on the concrete, but she walked all through it and made it illegible. The victim had no ID or anything on them" He kept talking, his voice trailing off, getting more and more distance as I slowly passed out. I have no idea how long I floated through the darkness, or where I was going or even if I was moving or if that was all just a trick of my mind. As I idled through the sea of blackness all the memories of my life fluttered back in little waves. The memories of growing up, and all the trouble I got into, all the friends that I had, and all that I did. It was like watching a movie of my life, I saw so many things that I have done and had a small ping of quilt but I never would want it to change at all. The strange thing is, that the memories suddenly stopped. The last thing that I can remember is getting ready to go out to a club with a friend, getting there and then it goes dark. Could that be the start of everything? As suddenly as the darkness came on, it was starting to wash away. The feeling left me spinning as reality came rushing in to replace the fleeing darkness. My eyes snapping open only to be forced shut by the blindingly bright, and sterile light. I went to lift my right hand to shield my eyes and try to wipe the sleep from my eyes only to find that I couldn't move that hand, it was strapped to something, so I brought my left hand up. Slowly the room started to come into view as my eyes got used to the lights. Sound starting to flow back to my ears to match. The sudden on rush of sounds made me wince a bit as my ears folded down and I set about getting a look at the room I was in. It was a hospital room, there was no doubt about that. I saw the tables and counters lined with sinks and cabinets containing all sorts of different medical devices and concoctions. The many different machines that I was hooked up to, I knew what a few of them did, but not a lot beyond that. The sounds that they admitted where rhythmic and all most hypnotic, I could feel my eyes starting to get heavy again. I wanted to call out to someone, to anyone, but there was a tube running down my throat. "Oh my, your awake." A soft voice rang through the room, coming from the door way. Soon the nurse came up to me and started to look me over. "Oh, it looks like everything is doing better." She mumbled to herself, I looked at her the best that I could as she ran around the room checking this and that. A ferret, and a pretty young looking one to, she looks like is a bit to young to be working really. "Doctor James, can you come to room one thirteen. The patient is awake." She said into a little intercom that was mounted on the walls. "Don't worry sweetie, the doctor will be here in a moment, and then we can get that tube out." She said walking over to me and resting her paw on mine, her paw was so soft. "Lets see here." A strong voice echoed into the room and soon it's source entered the room. Dr. James, a normal looking grey wolf. Strong, smart and noble looking, something about seeing him and knowing that he and the ferret nurse was taking care of me. "How is he doing, Alice?" He asked looking over at the ferret girl who then looked over her charts. "It looks like everything is doing a lot better. His vitals have stabilized, his breathing is just about back to normal. I don't see any harm in taking out the breathing tube." She said looking at me and then to the doctor. "All right. Deep breath." He said looking at me and bring a gloved hand up to the tube that was jutting out of my muzzle. I did as I was told and took in a deep breath, and then I felt the tube being pulled free. I coughed and gagged a bit as it was pulled free, letting me catch my breath. "So how does that feel?" He asked setting the tube on a metal tray next to him. "Wa....water." I'm whispered out. My throat was bone dry, as was my mouth. It made talking hard, and understanding anything that I said just as hard. "Her you go sweetie, sip it slow." She said putting a cup up to my lips and tilting it, letting the cool water flow into my mouth. It was only some tap water, but it was some of the best water that I have ever had, it was like nectar to me. "Those tubes can do a number on your throat." She said as she set the cup on the bedside table. "What happened to me?" I asked turning my head to look over at the wolf. "The last thing that I remember is lying on the side of the street, and then seeing a light, and being dead." "Well, that's about it. You where found lying on the side of the road, dying. You apparently crawled through the woods from a house. Your covered in multiple cuts, burns, and puncture wounds, and a number of broken and cracked ribs. The supposed to be fatal wound was a gun shoot to the chest, went right through you, and just did miss your heart." He said looking up from his charts. "Wow." was all that I could manage. "How long have I been out?" I asked trying to sit up, but the moment that I did I whimpered and feel right back down. "Oh your in no spot to be pushing your self, not for some time to come." Alice said putting a hand on my shoulder softly. "To answer your question, you have been out for about a week." James said pulling up a chair and taking a seat. "Have you called my family or anything?" I asked turning my head to watch the doctor and nurse. "No, you came in without any identification or anything like that." He looked over to Alice and said something that I didn't catch and she left the room. "Now Ms. we need to get your information now that your awake." He said, taking a clip bored that Alice brought back. "Whatever it takes. I just want to call my family." I said waiting for him to start with his barrage of questions. "We just need the basics. Name, age, address, and family." He said looking at me, his pen ready to copy what I had to say. "Silver Shanoa Frostpaw. Twenty one. three forty two Bark Hollow. And as for family, the only living family that I have is my mom." I said and then following it with her number and name. "But I have people here that I live with and that I want to let them know what happened and all. I know their Polly all scared to death." "We will let everyone know what's going and where your at." He said standing up. "But first we need you to talk to the police." He said turning to walk out the door, Alice following right behind him. "I don't want to talk to them now. I just want to talk to my family." I said weakly attempting to bark orders at them. It wasn't long after that and my room had three officer in it. I didn't bother learning the two's names, I only really cared for the one that was leading this. Greg was his name, and he is a fox, tall, thin but pretty well built. Just looking at him you could tell that he was a runner. I told them everything that I could recall from the night that I got out, and the little that I knew leading up to that. That wasn't a lot, all that I really recalled is that there where three people that did this to me. One that gave orders, and two there where the henchmen, the hired muscle. Their questioning drug on for what seemed like ever, right until I finally got to the breaking point. "God damn it. Get out. I told you all that I know. I just want to rest and talk to my family." I said in a near hiss. Me getting loud with the officer got the attention on the Nurse and she came in and saw that I was pissed. "All right you all asked her what you need to, now leave so that she can get some rest." Alice said all most pushing the three out of the room and then coming back. "Are you ok sweetie?" She asked looking me over and offering me some more water. "I'm fine." I said drinking the water, letting it sooth my throat. It was sore, seeing as I hadn't talked in over a week, that and having a tube down it didn't help it. "I just want to talk to my family." I said with a whimper, feeling a tear rolling down my cheek. "Oh don't worry honey, their on their way." She said softly, and then reaching up to wipe the tear away. "And I'll make sure that you get to spend some good time with them." She said smiling softly at me. "And you mom will be here in a few days." I had moved out of the town that I grew up in years ago, I moved two states away, pursuing my job. I had made new friends and people that became like family to me here. Thankfully they where on their way here. "Thank you." I said reaching out with my left hand and setting it on her hand. That heaviness starting to come back. "Don't worry about it. Just rest now. You'll need your strength to talk and be happy when they get here." She said patting my hand and then turning to leave the room. I didn't fight it, I just let the sleep come. I do find it interesting that even though I had been out for as long as I was that I could still sleep like a little kitten, it was a nice deep, dreamless sleep.
