First off, I don't own any Digimons or other names that involved in the stories. Of course I have their consent and I own Al and Amelia. I apologized first hand if there are spelling and/or grammar errors because English is my second. Any introduction are similars to the previous stories. Anything else, please enjoy.

Chapter 56: Survived The Fight of the Life.

Several Destinies were investigating the craters in the Woodland in Digital World. They finally found out the culprit behind the incident, and it was none other than the hooded figure that killed the elder Sakuyamon from Amelia's hidden village. Thanks to the hooded figure, the Woodland was contaminated with Glitches in form of a black mist. Alphonse, the white eye Agumon, used his power to purify the land from the mist. Because of his action, he is been infected by the Glitch itself and Henry has confirms it with the scanner.

The Destinies went into panic state because Alphonse is infected by the Glitch. The Destinies knows that there is no cure for this virus. Amelia is in the highest state of panic because she is his partner and she has just got to know about him better.

Alphonse is in pain from the Glitch. His eyes turned black with crimson iris showing the result of the infection. Another effect that occurs is there are black static, telling he overused his own power. "Damn it, Al!" Henry yelled at him. "Why did you risk yourself?"

"I..." Al wanted to talk but the static hurt him like broken bones all over the body. "I just wanted to save everyone. If I don't, everyone in this forest will die like Soul."

"Now you are in one." Matt growled at him. "Man you are too naïve and a fool."

"It is better than nothing." Al smiled at Matt then at Amelia. "I'm sorry, Amelia. It looks like you need to seek a new partner to avenge Elder."

"I can't do that." Amelia shouted. She kneeled right at Al's side and placed his head on her lap. "I promised Soul to protect you and you promise my father to help and protect me."

"I guess I'm as bad as any human then. I can't keep my own promises." Al smiled faintly.

"To hell with promises." Beelzebmon yelled. "You are not supposed to die yet until we are even."

"Or at least fulfill the prophecy." Renamon added.

"Please don't go." Amelia cried. "We still need you. I still need you. I finally found the right male for me and you are the one. Please don't go. I love you."

Al only felt silent for a moment to digest her words and smiled back at her with sobs. "Took you long enough, at least I can die happy now." Al said sobbing.

"Not quite." Henry responded. "You have at least 60 hours till you went berserk and died."

"Not quite, Henry." Rika replied. "If it is 60 hours, the Digimons that lives here were still in first stage." Rika looked at confused Delumon and Kiwimon behind them. "But they have reached second stage in one night. Which means either they were in the contaminated zone for too long or the Glitches itself have evolved."

"They were facing against the true Glitch, after all." Angemon answered. "Like she said, we can't rule that out."

"Then how much time does he have left?" Derek asked.

The seniors went silent because they haven't a single clue about it. Al looked at his team and grunted in pain again. "Use me. I am a test subject to Gennai's eyes after all." Al groaned.

Amelia's eyes went wide after hearing his words, but Renamon yelled at him. "Don't say that! You are not a test subject. You are our friend."

"Then as a friend, I volunteered to be one for the last time." Al yelled then groaned in pain again. "If we want to save every Digimon in this world, we need to know at least how worse the Glitches were become. Not to mention the source of the Glitch and the black mist."

Matt actually disagreed of Al's decision but thinking this will be his last wish. "Tsk... fine, what do you need?" He asked him.

Everyone looked awkwardly at Matt. Renamon wanted to protest but when she looked at him, his face showed sad and disgusted look. She backed away and went silent. Her eyes sadly looked down at Al. Amelia also looked down at Al and just to see that Al felt sad to spend his remaining time as guinea pig, but they wanted to know how bad the newly form Glitches are. Al looked at Matt and requests some things. "Hold on to my cards and also sealed me down in a sturdiest room with heaviest chains. Hopefully it can hold me down and may find a cure in time, even if there is a slightest chance. Lastly, look after Amelia while I'm gone."

"Granted." Matt simply replied. "We will find those in this Digital World, and hold on to your cards and Amelia until you cured."

TK and Angemon nodded and reported back to Gennai's mansion, every single detail about Al's stupidity to everyone that lay wait in the mansion. Everyone is in grieve moment for Al's condition. But never the less, he has done great things to protect both worlds. They starts scavenging the items Al ask for in the Digital World.

Kazu's Andromon know some place for the sturdiest room because he has friends in factories. As for the heaviest chains, they need to make it first. The Guardromons and the Andromon in one of the factories suggest some straps made from strongest minerals, but to mold it takes a lot of time which Al didn't have left so they mold it roughly without any measurements.

At noon, the statics were faded from Al's body and his eyes gradually back to normal. But a small black blotch starts appearing right at the lower eyes like a sack. The seniors concluded that his time span was shortened because the Glitch spread rapidly. That is the reason why the locals in the contaminated area were on second stage. If they went into third stage, they went berserk and killed each other until the last standing burst from overload.

On the next morning, Al's condition got worst. His eyes were similar to Delumon or Kiwimon. There is a patch of dirt around his eyes but everyone can't tell it because they can't see it except Al and Zane. Of course Zane was excuse from his school for monitoring Al. Amelia sat by Al side thinking to herself there is something she could do to help him, but she might be a hindrance to others. Zane is in his avatar and came to the room to see that Amelia is holding Al's hand while Al is resting on the futon. Zane interrupt the moment with a cough. "So, how are you feeling now?" Zane asked to Al.

"A little weak, I guess." Al simply replied. "Also it is getting hard to think straight, possibly from headache or frustration."

"That's mean you are in second stage of infection." Zane answered. "Tell me, why is it so unfair to you?"

"What do you mean?" Al asked in confusion.

"We just got to know you for at least several months, got turned into a real life Digimon and now, you are on bed counting hours, leaving all of us." Zane explained to him in a bit frustration and anger.

"True." Al answered after processing what Zane meant. "I do feel it is unfair to me. But what did I get from all of these? You, Derek, Jake, Soul, Amelia and everyone. Not to mention more friends and adventures in the Digital world. It's a wheel of life. I wish mom could see my work, she could be proud. I really miss her." Al showed sad expression in the last sentence.

"I thought you still have a mom." Amelia asked.

"I am, it is just that she didn't know that I'm alive and well and not unconscious in the hospital until now." Al explained to her. "I wonder how she is right now, probably sitting right by my side, looking at me in sad look, just like you did." Al added while looking at Amelia.

"Please don't say like that. I'm sure they will find a cure." Zane convinced him. "They just don't know how or where."

Al gave him a weak smile. "I know that you don't want to believe it. But face it; there is no cure for the Glitches."

"But you always use the Glitches to help and fight. I'm sure it can help you again to cure you."

"I know very little about the Glitches inside of me. Maybe it's been contained or helping me by force, I don't know. It might be retaliates when I was weak like right now." Al explained the possibilities.

Zane wanted to convince him or himself more that he will be fine, but was interrupted when TK came in telling the bad news. "I wish, but unfortunately we don't know. The cell is ready for you. We'll leave immediately."

"Thanks, TK." Al thanked him. He slowly stood up and starts walking to the portal. "Let's get these over with. I'm dying to see the room myself." But Zane walk up blocking his path. "Please move, Zane."

"I can't do that." Zane responded. "I just don't want to lose a friend."

"I know it's hard for you and everybody else, but the deed is done and I pay the consequences. Listen to Jake because he is your senior now, until then fare well." Al bade fare well and walk around Zane, leaving him and Amelia in their sorrow.

The Destinies arrived at a factory in the valley area of the Digital World. They were greeted by an Andromon and several Guardromons. The Destinies skipped the tour and walked straight to an enforced solitude room. Al was astonished by the room. It's roomy with one light at the middle of the room. Al walked around the room and knocking one of the wall. The wall itself is sturdy and thick but he don't know if it is sturdy enough when he go berserk. Of course he said his comment out loud to Andromon.

As if on cue, Several Guardromons brought some cuffs and metallic straps. A hole opened up and a metallic cube slowly ascends. Andromon explained that Al will be cuffed, strapped and confined inside the metallic cube. He also will not be fed in order to not use any of his skills. If these three can't hold him, several Guardromons will evolve into Tankmon and bombarded the room from hidden peeping gaps.

Al was amazed by his preparations. He has thought it thoroughly. "You think these thoroughly. Were you being briefed by Kazu's Andromon?" Al asked him.

"Every single details, including your tremendous power from the Glitches." Andromon replied with a slight nod.

Al shook his head to think clearly. "All right, let us begin before I changed my mind. It is getting hard to think clear." Al asked. He raised his claws and Guardromons began to cuff and strapped him up. "Wow, this cuff and straps are heavy. What was it made of?" Al asked after measuring the weight of the cuff. The cuff and straps were so heavy that Al can barely lift them.

"It was made with the strongest and heaviest mineral on Digital World." Andromon huffed proudly. "So does that cube. Your body will be lock inside the cube, leaving only your head to monitor the progress."

"I see." Al nodded. The Guardromons are finish strapping every single strap that were made, making Al look like wearing a strait jump suit. The Guardromons carried Al inside the cube and start the lock mechanism to seal his body completely. Andromon walked forward and strap a muffler so Al can't use any breathing techniques, but wide enough for him to talk.

"Everything is set." Andromon nodded and backed away. "Once we leave the room, the lock down will commence and you will be on your own."

Al gave him a nodded of gratitude to the Destinies and the locals. "Please give me 14 days. If I'm alive and still wild after that, please kill me."

"And if you are out of control within those days, we will forcedly execute you." Andromon stated and starts closing the door. Al could only close his eyes as the solitary starts.

Andromon guided the Destinies to another room just on the opposite of the hall. The Andromon told them that the room was specially built to monitor the solitude room. The Andromon neglected to tell Al that there are hidden cameras in each corner of the room. The room itself has four monitors, two tables, five chairs, an intercom, and a special panic button in case for back up.

Kazu's Andromon thanked the Andromon and bade fare well, leaving the Destinies alone in the room discussing who will get the first watch. Gennai and Zane will always be in the monitor room, watching the progress. Henry and Izzy will take turns to assist Gennai. Kazu's Andromon will remain in the mansion, monitoring the game and the Digital World. Which leave the rest of the Destinies will take turn every two hours before or after job shift.

At noon, Jake and Derek came to visit Al's condition and were horrified to see that Al is screaming and crying to release him, convincing to anyone guarding the door that he is innocent. Derek wanted to tell the seniors to release him, but Zane told him that Al is already in stage two of infection, a stage when he didn't think clearly, and thinking that he is innocent is one of it. Al believed that he is innocent when he is the one that ask this. Jake and Derek finally nodded in his logic but they still felt uneasy about this. A minute later, Kari came in to relief one of the two guard duty. The two guard duties were Daisuke, and Suzie. Both of them were eager to come home early but Kari can only relief one of them, unless if Jake and Derek volunteered. Unfortunately, they have school and Derek wanted to drop off some home works for Zane. Zane groaned loudly for the home works though he learned how to write in his avatar.

On the next day, Al's conditions gone worse. He screamed in rage and trying to free himself, despite hurting his own body in the process. Those who saw him will wince as if sharing his agonizing pain. Al has entered the final stage which when he gone berserk. The cube somehow managed to contain him, but for how long they don't know. They not neglect the Glitch power but thankfully without any food, his power remains weak.

The next day, Al went silent. Sometimes the Destinies wanted to check on him by talking through a peep hole. But Al's responses were roars and growls like a rabies dog, as if he reacts to a slight sound. Gennai confirms him through the monitor but the weird part is that if the infection were critical, he should be dead and shattered into data hours ago. Gennai thought is it because of the recovery Glitch inside of him trying to cure the host? He can't see clearly in distance because of other Glitches hosting inside of him. He wishes he could examine him thoroughly but he promise himself not to do it again.

For the past seven days, Al is acting like the last time with no improvement. Every Destiny wanted to talk to him but Al response with roars and growls. When it was Amelia turn to monitored Al, she snuck out to see him through the peeping hole. She tried to talk to him but what his response was different from others. He just stares at her through peeping hole as if trying to find something. Amelia believes that Al is still fighting inside the beast. "Al, I know that you are still in there." Amelia called him. "You can fight the Glitch inside you and survive. Please get well, I really missed you, so much." She shed some tears, crying inside her heart seeing Al went berserk like a savage beast. They didn't see it, but Al shed some tears as well after hearing Amelia is in pain. When Amelia walked back to the room, Al cries by growling to nothingness.

Twelve days passed. There is a slight change. The Destinies were getting restless that Al hasn't died or recovered yet. But Al growled less when the Destinies tried to talk to him. Joe thought that Al has given up his desire to live. This has made Jake, Derek, Zane, Amelia, Renamon and Gatomon gasp in disbelief. Beelzebmon is in rage and stormed out to the solitary room. He banged the door trying to draw Al's attention. "Al, I know you're in there!" Beelzebmon yelled. "You better not give up your life for everybody sakes. If you do, I will kill myself before you died! Think about it if you died in front of Amelia!" Al's head slightly twitched upon hearing Amelia's name. "She misses for you so much, she even cried behind this door. And you dare to throw away your life without thinking about her? Snap out of it, you bastard! You good for nothing human!"

Takato, Matt, and Tai grabbed hold of angry Beelzebmon. Every Digimon partner tried to hold up their tears, feeling Beelzebmon's sorrow and anger. Gennai gave a sad sigh and looked back at the monitor. He saw something at Al's face and try to zoom in the view. His eyes maybe playing tricks on him but somehow he saw tears coming from Al. "Hey guys, do you see this?" Gennai asked to draw attention.

Everyone saw the monitor and again saw Al's tears crying in silent. "I think you got his attention, Beelzebmon." Matt responded. Beelzebmon wiggled himself free from their clutch and walked out of the factory.

The last and final day, everyone is in silent mode expecting a result from Al. So far, he didn't roar, growl, or move at least. Everyone is afraid that his time is up and died without any cure, but they don't know for sure until they saw him up close. They check up on him in their strongest evolution form, in case if Al is faking. Beelzebmon and Gallantmon entered first with their weapons ready. They walked a couple of steps towards Al and halted if there is a slightest noise inside the room. When there were nothing out of the ordinary, they walked slowly again.

Finally, they reached at the cube where Al is motionless. Gallantmon want to nudge him but he is afraid of the infection. Beelzebmon tried to nudge him with his shotgun and no response. Al is finally dead by the Glitch as Beelzebmon and Gallantmon thought, but surprised when they heard a groaned coming from Al. They jumped backward and assume defense position. Again they heard groans coming from Al but the groans weren't a threat. "Al, is that you?" Gallantmon asked, but Al gave him a weak whisper.

Both Gallantmon and Beelzebmon walked slowly to hear the whisper. "Al, is that really you?" Beelzebmon asked again. Again, Al gave a weak whisper and they still can't hear him. Beelzebmon walked slowly and moved his ears to Al's muzzle. "What?"

Finally he can hear what Al said. "I'm soooo hungry." Al whispered in his ears.

Beelzebmon gasped and dropped his shotguns after hearing his response. "Son of a gun, you're back." He responded in whispers. "He is back and alive!" He yelled so everyone could hear. Everyone relieved for the great news. Al has survived from the Glitch infection and possibly had a vaccine inside of him. The factory Andromon heard the news and opened up the cube.

Gallantmon and Beelzebmon helped him out of the cube. Al's body is so skinny like a walking skeleton, so skinny that some of the straps were loosen. Andromon and a Guardromon slowly removed the straps one by one and finally the cuff and the muffler. Al somehow managed to stand up after Gallantmon and Beelzebmon let him go. But fell down when Amelia, Derek, Jake, Zane and Gatomon tackled him and pile him up. That is when Al finally passed out from lack of food and nourishments. Beelzebmon looked inside the cube and saw dried blood all over the gap. Al was struggling to free himself till he hurt his own body. He was grateful because the recovery Glitch healed his wounds like a new born baby. Not just healing his wounds, but a cure for the Glitches.

They hope...?
