Sheer Turmoil Utter Peace Chapter 7

Here is chapter 7. I think I put a little bit more effort into this one and I'm trying to refine my characters so readers won't be so lost or confused, which I'm pretty sure they are because my writing style is slightly (understatement) chaotic, so I hope you enjoy. Also, please share your thoughts with me, criticism or praise is welcome in the effort to make my stories and writing style better. Lastly, Kenshi, Benaji, and the others are my characters, and in no way do I own zoroark, pokemon or any other copyrighted works.

Chapter 7

(Benaji POV)

Benaji was making her way to the rear exit when she decided to stop and take a rest near one of the schools reflection ponds. She stopped near the edge and sat down with a heavy sigh; her foot paws gently swaying in the water, her gaze locked skyward at the sunset as the dazzling light from the stars intensified in the fading sunlight, her thoughts leading her off. "I must be doing something wrong, it doesn't look like he sees me like I see him." She broke her skyward gaze and ran a paw through her hair with a long sigh as she looked down at her reflection in the still water, silently studying herself. She turned her head to the side and ran her paws through her hair bringing up her arms and watching her reflection as her gorgeous hair fell through her claws to lie gently along her side.

Benaji looked like a normal zoroark save two differences. The first; her hair, which was braided into dazzling dreadlocks of red and black, instead of the flowing mane ending in what resembles a ponytail and tied up by a large, sapphire bangle. The second were her eyes, which were not the bright sapphire of a normal zoroark, which seemed to change their color each time you looked at them. At the moment, the color of her eyes on the glassy, surface of the water was an intense sapphire to match any other zoroark. Seeing this Benaji let out a small sigh and closed her eyes. "Maybe with some luck and a little bit of faith my eyes will still be sapphire when I look at myself again." At this thought she chuckled to herself, thinking how ridiculous it sounded to her. " __T_ he odds of my eyes still being sapphire are the same as Kenshi seeing himself as much in love with me as I am with him."_ If that were true, that the odds were impossible, then why was she afraid to see her reflection?

Benaji was at war with herself, her head kept telling her to open her eyes and just get it over and done with and move on but her heart on the other hand was telling her to keep her eyes closed and have faith in the strength of love, but which would be the victor the cold rationale of the realist mind or the fiery passionate dreams of the wistful heart? Her mind, like the arctic winds, is cold and harsh, forcing even the most stubborn minds to desperately cling to their false truths and fanciful thoughts praying that they survive the onslaught as the subzero winds and snow rapidly saps the warmth born of false hope leaving nothing behind but a frozen husk ready to be shattered with the slightest nudge. Like her mind; freezing and deadly as an arctic blizzard, so too is her heart, fiery and deadly as an erupting volcano, meeting the challenge of anyone who would dare to question its resolve with a force that would reshape the surrounding area to match its passion, ablaze in fire and brimstone. As her heart and mind battled for dominace within her, it was her exterior that was taking the damage. Her heart; pounding against her ribcage as if trying to free itself, her heartbeat pounding against her ears caused them to ache as her ear drums bulged out with each heartbeat, her lungs burning from the effort to get enough air , even her arms were wrapped around her body trying to stop the shivering and keep herself warm, all the while her eyes still closed. The intense feeling and emotions were steadily building within her threathening to smother her flickering life in the raging battle that ensued, her body weakening she collapsed onto her knees her arms shooting out to keep her from falling face first into the pool. With her conscious fading quickly, and the pressure building to her breaking point, she felt a burst of last minute strength and gasped taking in a deep lungful of the sweet, cool, life-saving air as she let her head hand down and looked down at her reflection.

Benaji saw her reflection in the water but it didn't last quickly as ripples in the water quickly distorted the image so she couldn't see anything. She looked up expecting to see the silhouettes of clouds and feel the rain hitting her but saw nothing but the stars in the sky, she continued to scan the sky for the source of the water when she felt something moist running down face and around her muzzle. She brought a paw up to her face and wiped at the spot wondering where the rain was coming from. Still kneeling at the edge of the pool, Benaji stood up and turned to leave when she felt that same moist feeling from a second ago going down her face and heard a light plop as it hit the surface of the water clearing it as she was looking down at the surface. It was her; she was crying and was wondering why only for a moment before she looked down at the pool's reflection and gasping at what she saw she staggered back to the edge of the pool and collapsed again her mouth agape staring at her reflection so hard that it might have com to alive and told her that if you stare at something long enough don't be surprised when it jumps out and says boo! It was her eyes, as clear as crystal and the color of sapphire radiated from them. "H- He does...he really does...he loves me! All these years thinking I was alone and my true love has been sleeping over my dam head for years!" Were all what Benaji's thoughts were as she cried out in joy as she looked up at the sky at the stars as they seemed to brighten at that moment as she looked up at the sky and cradled her head in her paws as she truly wept, not in sorrow, but in joy as she found what her she had written off as nothing more than whimsical thoughts, true love.

All of the doubts within her heart, the weight of carrying so much emotional baggage, the secong-guessing of herself and the bottled up emotions gone, just gone, the burdens of her past sorrows washed away with tears of joy. The veil of shadows that blinded her to her heart's desire were gone and her vision restored now able to continue on her heart's journey down the long and winding path to her desire, him. It was going to be a long journey but she's already half way there, all she needed was for Kenshi's path to cross hers and at the crossroads they would reach their heart's desires in each other.

Wiping the tears off her face and taking a moment to collect herself she closed her eyes and opened her mind willing her aura to find Kenshi's which only after a few minutes of searching Benaji felt her aura brush up against Kenshi's own aura which seemed so similar to her own but still so different. She felt a mischievous smile appear on her lips as she thought of all the fun she was going to have stringing him along until he figured out she knew his little secret. But her smile slowly started to disappear when she burshed up against Kenshi's aura again, it felt off...almost chaotic like he was like he was fighting someone but that still wasn't right Kenshi was one of the most calm and collected people she knew. Whoever Kenshi was fighting they were strong, very strong, she reached out with her aura again and found Kenshi's again but that wasn't who she was looking for, she focused a little more and she felt her aura brush up against a very dense aura. This wasn't like what a normal aura should be it seemed to my almost truly sinister in nature, which was something that she's never sensed before. When she tried to push a little against to find out more about whoever it was she just felt like she was trying to push against a brick wall, that aura just wouldn't give. She pulled her aura back to try something else but before she could even think of finding some other way of identifying who's aura it was the unknown aura shot out at hers like a snake and wrapped itself around hers constricting it and crushing it in its smokey black coils as it attempted to cause as much pain as it could to whomever dared to interfere with its hunt. Benaji roared in pain and arched her back as she felt herself being lifted off the ground as the black aura started to wrap itself around her body and squeeze her like a massive fist, the black coils began to scorch her fur and her flesh underneath started to get burnt as the black aura flames slowly burned her and intensified in strength as the coils tightened. She couldn't take this kind of pain for much longer, she vainly tried to fight back against her foe but it was too strong for her, she felt the pain dimming and her consciousness fading as the life was slowly burned out of her. Kenshi...please help me I don't know how long I can last...I don'k know h-...how long I-I can stay awake for. Her thoughts were becoming more muddled and couldn't hear herself think as her eyes started to close and her lmbs were getting heavier, her vision was blurring in and out, her heartbeat beating slower with each beat. She managed a slight smile as she thought of at least having the knowledge that Kenshi loved her too, and knowing this she could go in peace knowing that she was truly loved.

"LET HER GO YOU FUCKING BASTARD! YOUR FIGHT IS WITH ME!" The voice roared in her head bringing her back to full consciousness as she felt the coils loosen around her and she fell hard to the ground with a heavy thump completely exhausted from the fight. She looked around for the source of the voice and opening her mind again she felt around and felt two auras, the sinister black one that just tried to kill her, and another one that burned with too much intensity. She had to pull her aura back or it would have been scattered just by being near such a powerful aura. She closed her mind and opened her eyes and her mouth hung open at the sight before her. Kenshi was standing about twelve feet in front of her but it was his aura that she was staring at, which was usually so calm and controlled was now roaring and sweeping around him picking up clouds of dust but what surprised her about the aura was the color. The color of Kenshi's aura was a sapphire colored one like hers, but his gently flowed around him like water and clung close to him like a silhouette but this aura was...aggressive, roaring like flames and was crimson like the setting sun had taken on the shape of a lion like Kenshi but Kenshi wasn't just a lion he was a fion, a fox-lion hybrid, but it seemed the changes weren't finished yet as Benaji looked over Kenshi again. What surprised her more than anything else was that not only had his aura changed but his _body _ changed too! His ears; like a lions were rounded and lied down on his mane grew perked and upright; his mane, which was a bronze/gold color became streaked with crimson red, parting from in front of his throat and fell in line in back of his head like dreadlocks and grew further down to the middle of his back; his paws, normally golden-red like the rest of his fur changed to black, his claws, retractable and razor sharp, were three inches longer and even sharper than before, lastly his tail which was long and graceful ending with a tuft of fur at the tip changed as well becoming jet black as well as his muzzle. Benaji looked at Kenshi in awe he _definitely _ looked like a Fion now, his physical features having better balanced out between the two bloods runnning in his veins. Benaji's eyes went back up to Kenshi's face and saw that he was looking dead at her, she blushed and looked away but Kenshi noticed it and smiled at her.

"You're not hurt are you?" he asked a sly smile playing across his lips as he stared at Benaji whose blush kept growing with every second

"Why do you ask, I'm fine just a little bit sore that's all. What about you?" she said coughing slightly as her throat dried up from being the center of Kenshi's attention, her blush totally visible.

"Oh nothing really, it's just that your face seems really, really, really, red you know." thinking back on what Benaji had said to him earlier a evil smile grew on his face.

"What's with that smile Kenshi, it's creepin' me out more than that psycho aura?" she asked questioningly standing up and backing up towards the corridor

"Now what was it that you said to me back in he square I think it was something on the lines of..." he sarcastically scratched his head as if he was really trying to remember what she said "Oh! I remember now wasn't it something like 'you were thinkin' naughty thoughts about someone.' or somewhere on the lines of that?" Kenshi said walking towards Benaji who yelped slightly and blushed even more when her back came into contact with the wall. Kenshi stepped up in front of Benaji and put his paws on her shoulders looking into her eyes, all of the joking gone.

"Benaji, I have to tell you something that I should have said years ago I just don't know why I didn't. I now realize that I made both of us suffer unnecessarily by not saying anything but I didn't want to risk our friendship so I just have to come out and say tha-." The rest of his thought was cut off as Benaji quickly leaned forward and wrapped her arms around his back and pulled him in as she kissed him, her tongue briefly bumping against Kenshi's teeth before the shock wore off and he opened his mouth eagerly accepting Benaji's tongue as the first kiss they ever shared seemed to live on forever. But all good things must come to an end and so did their kiss when they needed to breath.

"How long have you known?" Kenshi whispered into her ear as he held her close afraid that if he let her go she'd just vanish into thin air.

"For a while but I had to be sure, I wanted to make you squirm a bit first before I told you." she whispered back they faces nuzzling each others as they kissed each other longingly before they broke apart again.

"We should get out of here while we can, I don't know if that thing had friends but I'm not sure that I want to find out." Kenshi said Benaji nodded and they headed towards the exit and headed towards Kenshi's home where his brother and sisters would be.

What do you think of this one, I think that I can still defintely make some improvements but, I'd like to know what you think. Thanks for reading :)
