Hi again everyone, I just wanted to try something new so here you go, let me know what you think. This story will have my fursonia character Blaferis later.

CH1. They came.

It's not unheard of for them to be spoken of often. Their names are very well known even though no one knows much about them. Users that's the name that they go by. Humanoid animals or anthros with the ability to control an element has been wandering our plains since the beginning to help protect us. Protecting use from mutated, sickly looking creatures that is trying to take over and destroy not just our world but the User's as well. These monsters known as Bragins have been at war with the Users for a long time, taking lives from both human and anthros. At one point it seemed that all was lost and that our world was going to collapse as more of the Bragins started to flood out of designated portals, killing and destroying everything in their wake.

It wasn't until a man decided to stand by a User that hope was restored. It's unexplainable how it happened, but with the human's help the User's skill in combat was greatly improved, knowing that an enemy was around him even without looking or being told. Even though the human couldn't use element skill's his strength and endurance seemed to rise, it was as if the two lend their strengths to one another. The two sharing each other's senses, physical aspects, and knowledge to help in battle was later referred to as bonding. When word got out about the human and User fighting together, humans and the anthros started to pair up as the two had, but only few managed to bond and survive while others have not.

War continued on andwith the help of the humans the Users had managed to push the Bragins back far enough into the portals that now the war is being fought onto their lands. Peace was restored to our world but guilt was felt as everyone found out later that the Bragin's land and Users are the same. The human's has agreed to help the anthros win their world back by joining forces under one military service that now carries the name Users.

Humans were all willing to join the army but later in time the anthros found out that the bonding can only happen with certain people. With that knowledge a certain test was designed for any who chooses to try and make a life as a User. It was at an early age of 16 that humans can be tested to see if they had the ability to bond to an anthro or not. If the human passes the test he has to decide carefully if he wants the life style or not for it's a chance that was only offered once.

This is their story.....

............................................................

Running was all that he could think of at the time, rain was falling heavily on him as the sword in his hands felt heavier and heavier as he ran. Sounds of roaring and yelling could be heard from behind him. The human looked around for a sense of direction but everything that he saw was foreign to him. He looked up but couldn't see the sky due to the heavy clouds. Tears start to swell up in his eyes as he continued to move forward. The human kept on running as he ran around a tree but tripped onto a root that was sticking up.

He fell heavily face first into the mud, he slowly lifted himself onto his hands and off the ground when a small snapping sound was heard behind him. The human quickly turned around to face an open jaw full of sharp teeth and a loud roaring escaping the muzzle moving quickly at him, before he could react the jaw closed onto his throat and the human let out a load yell as he quickly sat up in his bed.

The boy was breathing heavily while he quickly moved his hand to his throat. He let out a small sigh of relief as he realized it was a dream.

"Oh for fuck sacks really?" a voice could be heard from across the room. "Phillip it's 2:30."

"Sorry, another dream." Phillip said quietly as he laid back into bed.

A rustling sound could be heard from across the room. "Whatever, just go back to sleep will ya, we do have school in the morning." The boy didn't answer as he laid his head back onto his pillow and closed his eyes to try and sleep.

Moring came quickly as Phillip sat up in bed, he looked across the room to see that another bed in the corner was unoccupied. With a small sigh he got up out of bed and went to his dresser to change into something for school. After searching through his very limited choices of clothing he found a pair of jeans and a fox shirt, Phillip quickly got dressed and went to the bathroom across the hall. He grabbed his toothbrush and put some paste on it. Phillip put it in his mouth and started to clean his teeth, he glanced up at the mirror to see a light brown skinned boy staring back into his deep brown eyes. After returning back to his teeth cleaning and spitting into the sink a few times then rinsed his mouth out with warm water, Phillip went back to his room where he grabbed his backpack before he made his way downstairs. He entered the living room where his older brother was sitting watching TV while eating a bowl of cereal.

"Hey James?" Phillip asked.

"What?" his brother answered without his gaze leaving the television.

"Could you give me a lift to school today?"

James let out a heavy sigh as he chewed his food fiercer. "If I have too." He replied with an irritated tone.

Phillip just turned around and made his way into the kitchen. He looked in all the cabinets but didn't really find anything that would be called a breakfast. 'I bet he ate all the cereal again.' He thought to himself, he grabbed the box that was on top of the fridge and shook it a few times to hear little bits of crumbs giggle around inside. "What a surprise, empty." He sighed.

"Let's go." Phillip heard from behind. He turned around to see his brother with a set of keys in his hands.

The boy just nodded as he set the box down onto the counter and followed his brother outside where Phillip got into the passenger seat of the old beat up Mazda. The drive to the school was short since James drove 80mph in a 55, but they soon came to a screeching halt about three blocks from school.

James put the car in park and looked over at Phillip. "Get out!" he said sternly.

"What?" The younger brother replied.

"Look, I know that the school knows were brothers and all but I'm not going to be seen driving up with the school reject since I'm on the baseball team now get out." James said with more force at the end of the sentence. Phillip just did as he was told and undid his seat belt and opened the door to step out. It didn't take James long to through the car into drive and take off as soon as the doors shut.

Phillip just stood and watched his brother drive off down the road and pull into the parking lot. Phillip stood for a moment but soon started to walk through the autumn season. Unlike most high schools this one wasn't that crowded since they lived in more of a country area than a city. The school was only a one level brick building, a football field on one side with a baseball field on the other. Nothing else spectacular about it, since the school didn't get much money.

Phillip made his way through the front door with the occasional pushing, shoving, and laughter, he made his way to his locker and placed his bag away. After grabbing his algebra book, note book and other things he might need for class he walked off down the hall to his first class. Phillip made his way to his seat and waited patiently for the teacher to come in to start the class.

He sat quietly but could hear everyone else talking around him.

"Did you hear, the Users are going to be here today?" A girl said from his left.

Another class mate gasped at the news. "No way."

Soon door opened and a teacher walked into the class. "Sorry for my tardiness, the teacher's meeting went on a little bit longer than what we thought."

The teacher walked over and placed her bag that was slung on her shoulder onto her chair.

A student quickly raised his hand. "Miss. Williams, is it true that Users are coming to our school distract?"

Miss. Williams gave the class a smile. "Well I guess I don't need to tell you about the meeting then, but yes they will be here starting today and tomorrow." The class started to chat away with each other. "You all know that they will be here to pick out the ones that they believe can bond and see if they want to go with them, it's a two day process. You are not allowed to approach any Users unless passing them in the halls while going to your next class and please I ask that when they are here you all be on your best behavior." Everyone nodded their heads and agreed since they all wanted to make a good impression. With that the teacher started the class and all went normally.

It wasn't till the middle of third period in reading class that Phillip and everyone else heard from a student that was coming from the bathroom that the Users have arrived. A phone call came in for the teacher and she had to step out so it didn't take long for everyone in the class to get excited and start talking about how they were going to be picked and take the test. Some talked about what kind of species that they hope to bond to. Phillip also had a smile on his face at the thought of bonding to an anthro but his smile didn't last long.

"What the fuck you smiling about?" One of the boys in the room asked.

Phillip turned his head to meet the gaze of a jock named Mark. "What?"

Mark came over and sat down in the seat in front of Phillip's desk. "You heard me, we all know that there is no way that someone like you will be picked or pass there test." The class started to laugh at the boy. "I mean, look at you, your skinny and your hair looks like a dirty mop because of how long you have it." The comment brought more laughter, Phillip was looking down at his desk with the feeling of pain but deep down he knew Mark was right, the Users were a military and they needed fighters, they would have to be mad if they would pick him. The boy looked down at himself, he really wasn't what most would call a pencil but the lack of muscle that most had at his age didn't help him with being picked on or beaten up.

The bell rang signaling for the end of class as everyone rushed out of the room in laughter but also most likely to see the users. Once everyone had left Phillip stood up and started to gather his things. Lots of noise could be heard and running as he figured that the students were trying to at least get a glimpse at the anthros.

"In hear please." Phillip heard from behind him.

When he turned around he saw two wolves, a horse, a lion, and two humans being escorted into the room. The anthros were all over 6'5 so they had to bend down to get through the doorway and had the same armor gear that covered their arms, thighs, and shoulders. While wearing black baggy pants and long slave shirt, the humans on the other hand had the simple army style cameo pants but a thick black sleeveless shirt with shoulder pads over it.

Phillip quickly gathered his things and tried to hurry out of the room, as he passed one of the wolves he glanced up and was shocked that the wolf gave him a smile and a wink. Phillip quickly went to his next class which was history since his lunch period wasn't till the second shift after his fourth class.

The human couldn't stop thinking about the wolf the whole class, occasionally zooning out in his thought while being called on numerous times for his lack of paying attention which in return making him feel embarrassed and being laugh at from the other students. The bell rang to signal that lunch time has started, Phillip made his way to the lunch line, by the time he gets their he was usually the last one since others liked to cut him. When he finally got through the line and had his tray of what was supposed to be food he looked around to see if there was an empty table anywhere for him to sit but he knew he never would find one. Even the benches outside were occupied by students. So he went to his normal spot which was by a big oak tree.

Once he sat down against the big tree he started to open his milk carton when a shadow suddenly came over him. "You mind if I join you?" A deep rough voice was heard before Phillip could look up.

The boy looked up and was speechless when the same wolf was standing over him with a smile. "Umm...I guess." He said weakly.

The wolf chuckled. "Well if you want to be alone I'll go find a different spot." The wolf said as he started to take a step back.

"No...I" The human looked down, not quite sure what to say.

The wolf started too laughed at the human as he sat onto the grass. "I know you're most likely nerviest but you need to loosen up a little. I don't bite...Hard." The wolf smiled.

Phillip smiled a little and looked down at his tray, he grabbed his fork and started to pick up some of the noodles that had sauce all over it.

"What is that?" The wolf asked in almost a frightening tone.

Phillip smiled as he held up the bit on his fork. "Spaghetti I think."

"Umm, here." The wolf reached into a bag that he had with him and pulled out a sandwich. "It's beef, ham, and turkey. All my favorite meats in one." The wolf chuckled.

"I shouldn't." Phillip protested.

The wolf held out the sandwich farther. "Come on I have two so I'm good."

Phillip just looked away. "Well thanks but I don't even know who you are and why are you being nice to me since everyone else here tries to ignore me?"

The wolf smacked his forehead with an open palm. "Damn forgot. My name is Padreion." The wolf stuck his paw out. "And I thought you could use the company."

Phillip smiled and shook the wolf paw which seemed to wrap around his hand with ease. "Phillip and thanks."

The wolf held up the sandwich one last time, Phillip shook his head with a smile and took it. "Thank you."

The wolf nodded while he got out his other sandwich and started to eat. The two ate in silent but was interrupted when Padreion looked quickly behind him. Phillip leaned over to the side so he could look around the big anthro to see what he was looking at, the boy's eyes widen as he watched the lion he saw from earlier come walking up and sitting next to him.

"So who is your friend?" the lion asked.

Padreion held his paw out to the boy. "This is Phillip, Phillip..." the wolf gestured over to the lion. "This is Troit."

Phillip looked at the lion, which he can tell just by looking at the anthro that he was stronger than the wolf due to him being a bit taller and had bigger muscles.

"So kid..." the lion started as he reached into his own bag and pulled out his own meal. "How old are you?"

Phillip took a bit and chewed it quickly so he would keep the lion waiting. "I'm 16 sir."

The lion let out a loud laugh. "There is no need to be formal with me."

The wolf too chuckled. "So you going to try and take the test?"

"I don't know." The human said as he looked down to the ground.

"Why not?" The lion asked.

Phillip took a small drink from his milk. "Well I don't think I would be picked for the test and I know that I won't even pass so why should I try."

"Kid listen, I can tell you that I know for sure that you're going to be picked for the test." Troit said.

"How do you know?" the boy asked.

The wolf smiled at him. "We all knew that we would pick you to take the test because you have...well we get this feeling from you when we are near you."

"It's a comfortable feeling, we noticed it when you passed us back in the classroom." The lion said with a smile.

Phillip gave them a small smile and opened his mouth to talk but didn't get far when the bell went off to signal it was end of lunch and he had to go to his next class. "Well thanks for the company but I have to get going."

The two anthros both gave the human a nod and watched as the boy picked up his tray and walked back into school. Once he tossed out his leftover food and placed the tray with the others so it could be cleaned, he couldn't help but feel as if he was being watched, the boy quietly walked out of the room and went to his locker. Phillip got his things to go home since school was over after his next class. After walking into his history class he still couldn't help but have a feeling of being watched, when he looked over at the other students which he saw them turn their heads away from him. 'They're all staring at me.' He thought.

Phillip sat quietly in the back of the room while everyone in the room was talking amongst themselves, some about him from what the boy could pick up. Soon the teacher walked in but everyone was still talking until they all saw the horse walked in right behind him. Silence filled the room very quickly as the anthro stopped in front of the room and looked around.

When the horse's gaze fell over Phillip the anthro gave him a warm smile. But he continued to scan the room, he looked over to the teacher. "I'll be in the back of the room."

"Ok." The teacher said before he started his lesson, everyone was watching the horse walk to the back of the room and stood off the side of Phillip. Everyone soon turned and looked back to the front of the room as the lesson got underway. It wasn't a hard guess that everyone in the room would look back at the horse, but for some reason their gazes would also fall on him.

The whole situation made Phillip feel uneasy, but not soon enough the class was over and everyone got up and walked out of the room. The boy packed his things and was about to stand up when a heavy hand fell onto his shoulders, he looked up to see the huge horse smiling down at him before walking out of the room himself. Phillip got up and walked out of the room, as he walked he felt more of the students staring at him. He walked outside and was beginning to walk down the road as he usually dose but he rounded the corner about five blocks down from school when he heard a screeching of a car stopping next to him. Phillip looked up to see his brother looking at him with a stern look.

"Get in now." He yelled.

Phillip didn't wait to be told twice as he got into the car and sat in the front seat, he didn't get a chance to put his seat belt on all the way before the car was on the move again.

"What the fuck am I hearing about you hanging out with the anthros?" He asked without looking at his younger brother.

Phillip looked down at the floor. "I don't know."

"Oh and I guess that you don't know that the horse was staring at you in your last class did you?" He said sternly.

Phillip looked up at his brother shocked. "What?"

His brother gripped the steering wheel harder. "The whole fucking school knows about you and the anthros now." Phillip looked down at the floor of the car as they pulled up into the driveway.

"Is it really that bad?" Phillip asked in a low tone that could pass as a whisper.

"Look this is my only chance to join and leave this place and I'll be damned if you're going to make it and I'm not." He got out of the car and slammed the door and stormed into the house. Phillip didn't move as he let the words set in.

The boy let his thoughts swirl around in his head, 'Can I do it and can I leave if I pass.'

Phillip slowly opened the door and stepped out of the car, he closed it before he walked into the house where he placed his bag beside the couch. His brother was nowhere to be seen so he figured that he was in their room. Phillip plopped down onto the couch and turned on the TV, he was watching some show that really didn't catch his attention when the front door opened up. His mom and dad walked inside with arms full of groceries.

"Hi mom and dad." His father gave him a small grunt as he walked by while his mom stopped and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"How was your day?" His mom asked.

Phillip followed them into the kitchen and started to help put away the items that were bought. "It was ok."

"Where is your brother?" his dad asked.

Phillip didn't even bother to look at his father. "I don't know."

"James get out here now." His father yelled.

It wasn't even a few seconds after the yelling James came around the corner with a pissed look and his hands in his pockets. "Yes."

"Set the table." His father ordered.

James didn't even argue as he walked over to the cabinet and pulled out four plates, placing them over onto a nearby table. Phillip got out the silverware and placed them besides every plate, he looked up to see James giving him a disgusted look. After the table was finished they all sat down while their mother brought over a prebaked chicken and some other items. They all started to eat with Phillip's mom and dad talking to each other.

"James why are you pissed this time?" the father asked.

James just looked up to his brother that was sitting a crossed from him, "I don't know, why don't you explain." He regarded to his little brother.

They all looked over to Phillip, he didn't look up as he gave out a small sigh. "The Users came to our school."

"That's great." His father said happily as he turned to his eldest son. "May be you'll pass their test."

"Doubt I will be picked to take the test unlike this asshole." James said.

"Language." His mother yelled.

"What." Their father yelled as he gave Phillip a glare. "What is he talking about?"

"The anthros were just sitting by me during lunch, nothing too big." Phillip said quietly.

"Bull, they were looking at you like a stuffed turkey. It was like no one at that school matter besides you."

Phillip just pushed his plate as he stood up and quickly ran off to his room. "Phillip." He heard his mother call from behind him but he didn't care at this point. He slipped underneath the blankets and just laid there without a word. He heard footsteps come over to his bed, it wasn't long before he felt the side of the bed sink from weight and a hand gently placed onto his shoulder.

"Hun?" he heard a soft voice.

Phillip curled up more, "Why am I hated so much."

"You're not. I don't hate you." The voice said.

"You're my mom though."

He felt the body lean over and soft lips planted onto his cheek for a small kiss. "And as your mother I will always love you, I'm happy that the Users take a liking to you, I hope you get to leave with them and start a life that you can be happy with."

Before he could respond he turned to see his mom getting up and leaving the room, slowly closing the door behind her, Phillip just rolled back over and closed his eyes. As thoughts of the anthros swirled his head until he fell asleep.

To be continued...............sometime soon.
