Remnants of the past
Chapter 9: Remnants of the Past
Author's note: Because of the positive response to my last chapter, as well as I found it easier to write, I'm gonna continue to write in First person. I will switch views from character to character though. But for now, I need to get the concept down for myself, so no switches
Sunset Tzura
Species: Lightdragon, transitioning to Heaven Dragon
Signature Spell: Flash Storm, transitioning to Symphony of Light (creates a net of lasers that fence in and trap an enemy, striking them from multiple angles)
A kind but foul tempered shapeshifter. Her early childhood was spent mostly running from hunters trying to kill her because she was a shapeshifter. When Lacyus found her, she completely changed her personality, becoming more trusting of the world. However, she is still torn up over the loss of her parents and sister.
****
I have to admit, yesterday I was acting like a lovesick idiot. But look at from my perspective. Lacyus, my best friend and my mate had just returned after four months. Four months with no contact other than the occasional letter. And he comes home.
But back to the present. Lacyus has found the 'Ultimate Gift' for me and he's about to show me, and he blocks my view. The only thing that keeps me from kicking his ass is our love for each other.
"Lacyus, move!" I said, shoving him playfully. "I wanna see!"
Lacyus, smiling, turned and licked me affectionately on my forehead. Licks are generally considered more intimate than kisses for dragons. "Not yet. I want it to be a surprise. Turn around and face the other way. And plug your ears."
"Hmmphh." I snorted and turned around, plugging my ears. But not totally. I can still hear a lot of the noise.
"Where are they......" Lacyus mumbled to himself. "Where are- AH! Mr. and Mrs. Tzura! Over here!!!"
I quietly turn around to see Lacyus waving with his arms. But what bugged me was the name he called. Tzura. That's my last name.
A familiar, melodic female voice spoke from in front of him.
"You don't have to call us Mr. or Mrs. Tzura Lacyus. Our first names would be fine." She said in a half laugh. "Who were you so keen of introducing us to?"
"I believe I found someone you have been seeking for a very long time."
Lacyus stepped aside and I nearly passed out. A blue and white dragoness slightly taller than me stood with an olive green and yellow dragon. For a moment I couldn't move. Shock slowly seeped into their expressions
When I regained my wits, I dashed for the dragoness' arms, tears flowing my eyes.
"MOM!!!!"
My mom caught me and hugged me tightly. "God! Sunset! Is that you!?!?"
"Yes!!!!"
"Oh my god! I though they killed you!!!!"
"I thought they did that to you!!!"
My dad joined the hug. "Don't forget me!"
I licked both of them over their eyes. "Of course not!"
Dad's face was beaming. "Look at yourself. You look gorgeous! Even in those street clothes!"
"A fine young dragoness." Mom added hoarsely, tears dripping off her cheek. She released me to get a better look, going over my whole body. Then she stopped at my right hand. At my engagement ring. "And... Oh my god... You're... Oh my...."
"What's wrong Azura?" Dad asked.
I held my hand up proudly. My dad smiled, wiping tears out of his eyes.
"So. Who is it?"
"What?"
"Who are you engaged to?"
"You mean.... Jeeeeezzzz!" I turned to see Lacyus trying to sneak away. "BACK HERE NOW!"
He turned, scratching his neck nervously. "Eh...Heh heh..... What's wrong hun?"
"Don't 'Hun' me! You didn't tell them!?!?"
"Sorry....." His head drooped his disappointment. "I just got nervous....."
My mom's face perked up. "You mean you're our daughter's mate?"
Lacyus gave a meek smile "For ten years now. I actually....." His voice trailed off.
"What?" I gave Lacyus a worried look. "I didn't mean to hurt you."
"Well.... I never really told you this but....." His voice trailed off again.
"Fine." My mom sighed. "I'll read your mind."
Lacyus looked up in horror. "You're a telepath!?!? Please don't tell Sun!"
Mom closed her eyes and concentrated for a moment. She laughed quietly. "Why not tell her? That's really sweet of you."
Lacyus's face flushed red. "It's kinda embarrassing."
"I'll tell her then." Mom opened her eyes. "Lacyus had a crush on you since he was four. But he was too scared to ask you."
"Is that why you were so nervous?" I asked. "It was like then wasn't it?"
Lacyus nodded. "It was better to approach them as your best friend, not as your mate."
"Relax Lacyus." Dad said. "I think you two are meant to be together, if you stayed with her for ten years."
"Actually we've known each other for fourteen years. And been separated for four."
Mom's expression suddenly turned confused. "Four years? What happened?"
*Should I tell them?* Lacyus asked telepathically.
*About what? Us mating? Dunno. I've been away from them so long I don't know how they'd take to knowing I lost my virginity to you...*
"So you two have already had a little fun eh?" Mom had a mischievous smile on her face.
Both of us gave embarrassed squeaks and I instinctively grasped Lacyus' hand tightly.
"M-M-mom! I-i-i- c-c-can explain!" I managed to blurt out
She laughed. "Don't worry. You two were old enough anyways. But that must have hurt. That portal appearing right after you two finally joined."
"Yeah it did. I couldn't stop crying for a couple of days." I said sadly.
"I didn't cry much. But it felt like my whole world had ended." Lacyus commented.
My mom walked over and set her hands on our shoulders. "You two have been through a lot. Being separated for four years. The fight over Lacyus being a Shadowdragon. It would break my heart to have to separate you two. Oh, and before I forget!" Mom dug into her backpack. "I believe you missed this dearly." She pulled out a teddy bear and I instantly snatched it out to her hands.
"My favorite toy!" I nuzzled it affectionately. "You went back to get it!"
During the raid on our house I was forced to leave my teddy bear behind. It was missing some fur and the left leg was scorched a little but it was still very soft and it brought up my favorite childhood memory. Bedtime stories with my mom.
Then I noticed Lacyus had turned to leave again.
I raised my head again. "Where are you going?"
He kissed me and started walking. "It's your day. Enjoy it. And plus I'm starting a new job today."
I grabbed his arm and yanked him back. "Come with us! Please!!! Your job can wait!!!!"
"Ummmm....Ooookkkkayyy...." He said nervously.
"Don't tell me you're nervous to talk to my parents."
"No.... Not really..... I've gotten over that.... It's just Mira's gonna be more than a little pissed....."
"You've enlisted in the Bounty Hunter's Guild?"
"Weapons Testing Division. Mira's my direct superior. I promised her I'd test a generation of powered armor for her."
"Phone her." Dad offered. "If she doesn't understand, then quit your job."
"You don't understand Mr. Tzura. Mira's my sister. Older sister."
"Ouch..." Mom commented. "Still try though. Good luck..."
Lacyus walked over to a payphone, popped some coins in and dialed a number. Everyone listened closely.
"Yes, Hello? Weapons Testing Division please. Lieutenant Commander Akival please.... Thanks...."
A few seconds passed. Then Lacyus spoke again.
"Yeah sis... Yes I know I'm late.... Yes I tried to leave.... No.... Hol..... Hold o........ JUST SHUT UP FOR A MOMENT!!!" I laughed quietly. "Listen. Sunset wants me to go with her and her parents for the day an..... yes...... BUT....... I kno...... LISTEN!!! She's my mate I go with her if I want to! ..... FUCK THE STUPID ARMOR!"
"Give the phone to me." My mom commanded.
"Yes. Hang on Mira." Lacyus handed the handset to Mom.
"Yes, Mira is it? Hi this is Ms. Tzura. How about this. Lacyus comes with us till noon, we get lunch, then Sunny and I will head off to a spa or something and Lacyus goes then?..... Perfect, it's all settled then. Bye."
She hung up with a pleased smile on her face. "You're with us until noon Lacyus."
He sighed. "Good. Let's just stop at Mira's house and drop your stuff off there."
Taking my hand, the two of us lead my parents through the streets of Cobalus to Mira's house. Along the way, Lacyus really loosened up and began to fit in more comfortably with my parents.
"So you came that fast hun?" Mom asked astonished. "Lacyus, you've gotta be really good then."
Lacyus laughed as we went in the front doors. "Yeah well, your daughter tasted really sweet. I thought I could get some more cum too licking her like that!"
"How about you Sunset? How's Lacyus' cum?" My mom asked mischievously.
I licked my lips sensually. "Like this." I pushed the memory of his cum to the top of my mind for my mom to read.
"Mmmmm.... Seems pretty good."
Lacyus gestured to a corner. "Here. Just lay them down."
My parents shrugged off their packs, setting them down in the corner. My dad flexed his wings, which were an impressive five meters from tip to tip. The reason they were so big was because he was a Galedragon, a wind based Elemental Dragon. My mom was a Waterdragon.
"So," He said happily. "Where do you two like to spend your day?"
Lacyus frowned. "I just got back from studying at the Temple of the forgotten. I've been wondering that myself."
Suddenly, I noticed a glowing on my wrist. The link crystal on my bracelet was glowing, indicating someone was trying to contact me over a private network. I pressed it and the network snapped to life
*Sunset? It's me, Nephilla.*
*Hey. What's going on?*
*I just had a major memory lapse.*
Memory lapse was the term that Neph and I used for her visions of her past. Recently that were becoming more and more frequent. All of them were pointing to her and I to being sisters.
*How much?*
*A lot. I've got most of my memory back. And you were right. I am your sister.*
*That's great!!! Lacyus found Mom and Dad!!! We're at home!!!*
*Well... Ummm... Can you keep them away for now. Rykuu, Mira and I are at the beach right now. I don't wanna spoil our day because of me going all mushy on them.*
*No problem. We're gonna show them around the city, get lunch and then split up.*
*Thanks. Oh and just to let you know, the Phins are back. There was a landslide on the way to their next beach so they decided to return. Feydra and Galius are looking for you and Lacyus.*
*Right. Bye!*
*Have fun with Mom and Dad.*
I closed the link, feeling lightheaded. All this came just too fast. My parents. Nephilla. I had to thank Lacyus for everything had done for me later.
"Well..... Let's see....." I scratched my head, thinking of the best places I could take them all.
***
"I never knew you two had it so good. I'm actually kinda envious over you two." My dad commented. "You two are living a really nice life here."
We had just left a restaurant for lunch. The taste of my beef gyro was still on my tongue.
"Well, I gotta go." Lacyus kissed me on the forehead. "See you back home." He left in the direction of the BHG Headquarters.
"So, Sunset, are there any good libraries around here?" Dad asked.
I thought for a moment. "Cobalus University Library. Over there." I pointed.
"Thanks. I'm off." Dad split away, leaving Mom and I alone.
"What do you want to do now?" Mom offered. "My treat. You and Lacyus have been paying for our day so far."
"How about a spa trip like you suggested?" I offered hopefully. "Now that I'm old enough at least."
"Sounds good! Let's go."
***
"Ohhhhhh yeah. This is perfect." I moaned as I lowered myself into the hotspring.
"Mmmmm yeah." Mom was leaning back on a small outcropping of rocks. "This is perfect. Being able to enjoy a girl's day with you finally."
"Agreed." I found my own seat and laid back, closing my eyes. "So where did you go after you told me to run away?"
Mom sighed sadly. "Your Dad and I managed to kill most of the hunters. The rest got frightened and ran. After that, we went looking for you, but you were long gone."
"Hmmmmm..." I smiled. "It's kinda a good thing you didn't find me."
"Why?"
"I wouldn't have found Lacyus."
"You love him a lot don't you?"
"Yeah. He probably saved me from suicide."
"WHAT!?!?"
"I was actually ready to kill myself when he found me. I wanted him to kill me...."
"Ohhhh Sunset..." Mom waded over and sat beside me. "That must have been hard."
Tears started welling up in my eyes as I remembered how helpless I was. "Yeah.... He taught me a lot. Especially the value of a friend."
Suddenly something whispered in my ear.
"....Oh-One enagin......."
I wiped the tears away. "Did you hear that Mom?"
"Hear what?"
"That voice."
It spoke again.
"....din don't push yourself too har....."
"There it is again!"
"Sorry Sunset, but I can't hear it."
"... drones X1 and X2 are incoming. Don't caught in their crossfire Lacyus....."
"...Roger that, engaging...."
It was Mira and Lacyus. But then there was a new voice. And I could hear it as if they were speaking in my ear.
"Nice strike Oh-One! Right down the middle!"
Suddenly, my mind was catapulted out of my body.
