CotJ II The Last Stand; Act 2 Part I
#11 of Chronicles of the Justicar II: The LAst Stand
[The Shadow Core; Dark Spire; 3,568 AD, November 25th, 7:55PM]
"Welcome to Dark Spire, Lord Havoc, we are grateful for you to be here, we are!" Shadow master Malero greeted
A massive spider shaped infinite suit finished materializing inside the large chamber; the enormous machine had three long spider legs on either side of it with two lobster-like pincer arms that came down from his abdomen. Lord Havoc skittered towards the greeting party, his heavy mechanical legs echoed through the halls of the tower.
"The situation is perfectly under control, Havoc; the Void God's plan is going without any delays." Lord Vurdamis spoke
"Do not lie to me Lord Vurdamis. It has come to the master's attention that the organics attempted to summon in their god to go against us." The red triangle shaped eyes on the skull head of the metal spider glowed intensely, "The master has ordered me and a large part of my forces to back up his plan of securing the Queen Matriarch, you could call it insurance. I have also remedied the organic's destruction of your mining world, what the Seer and his organic simpletons do not realise that their so-called-ally is really an informant for me."
"I thought you didn't like our master's 'convoluted' plans Havoc." Lord Vurdamis stated
"I still don't" Havoc answered when he clicked his pincers together "But once this plan goes south, which it will... I will be here to clean up the mess."
Vurdamis turned to face the half dragon shadow master and the humanoid melting clay demon as Lord Havoc stood stoically in his custom made suit, "The Void God wants us to capture the draconian leader so he may have a body to directly interact with this realm."
Baphomet sighed, "This...is pointless...just build anther...suit and we can be done."
"Even a custom made suit would not be enough for the Void God, as an organic host could grow with him in power while metal remains static" Lord Vurdamis explained
Malero shifted his red monocle with his left hand, "I see I do, I do. Now I see why the master wishes for this to be so. My experiments diverse greatly in skill; if the body used into making a monster is dead or in fact the subject's mind is resisting transformation than the experiment result becomes that much less effective. On the other side if the person accepted transformation and was wiling well...the possibilities are endless."
"Precisely...Shadow master." Vurdamis nodded, "We could have Lord Havoc's army to capture the Queen but she would most likely resist being a host thus making her useless to the Void God."
"Have you tried...simply asking her?" Baphomet laughed "If I'm not mistaken...she doesn't know... you are only using them to keep the humans distracted..."
"The merger is a delicate process; the Void God himself would be weak in such a state which is why the host must not try and resist during it." Vurdamis said to his minions
"Its true, it is." Malero nodded in agreement, "The master is very complicated he is. He is so powerful that he has developed two different...'personalities' lets call them. His dominate one is the all knowing, master planner we know right now. The other holds the most of his power; under his thin control over himself lays his unending wrath and hatred to all things. His controlled self is powerful enough to cause other gods to cower under him...I cannot imagine what he would be like if his own anger consumed him..."Malero pondered
"That is not for you to think about organic. This is why we must be careful in our plans of securing the Queen Matriarch if not then the bonding could go wrong and cause our master to switch personalities from the backlash which would be a very unwanted result." Vurdamis said
Baphomet coughed up a large chunk of her clay like substance before speaking, "Why, What would happen?"
"If our master lost control of his own power then he would become stronger, if you could believe it, and his own anger would be enough to destroy all the realms, gods, organics, even us before he himself would overload wiping out reality itself leaving nothing." He stated
"Everything?"
"Nothing would be left Baphomet. You organics do not have words to describe such emptiness so I won't bother going into detail. While we carryout the master's plan, Lord Havoc here will ensure that the Seer and his organic allies will not interfere." Vurdamis ordered
"I still say we should just build our master a suit and be done this realm." Lord Havoc sneered
[Delta Quadrant (VALOR controlled Space); Dorian Grey; Briefing Room; 3,568 A.D, November 25th, 8:07PM]
"Since apparently now we are all listening to the young adult human and my word as a being who worked for the Void God carries no weight I just want to put it on record I will be gone once this plan crashes and burns." Serverus stated
"Duly noted." Xross said quickly
"Speaking of which, Sev what have you heard about Ice man's plans before deciding to join the good guys?" Arjun asked who had his helmet under his arm while wearing his power armour
"Lord Vurdamis wanted a huge shipment of materials shipped to Dark Spire." Serverus answered
"So we go and destroy Dark Spire." Arjun said simply
"Dark Spire is located within the Shadow Core..." Serverus sighed
"So." The Justicar responded
"It's in the Infinite realm..."
So."
"You can only get there through magic..."
"So."
"Some of the most powerful infinite lords would be there along with most of the cult itself..."
"So."
Serverus sighed and looked at everyone else in the briefing room, "And he is supposed to be our leader? I should just shoot myself; at least then death would only bother me once."
"Attacking Dark Spire would be suicide, now at least. We should focus on getting Ethan Alexander and Clan Prince Azerigan while at the same time we should hinder the infinite in any way we can to slow down what ever they are trying to do." Carpender suggested
"And what are they trying to do?" Liken asked quietly who had been keeping to herself for most of the meeting
Everyone looked at Serverus when the valgary had spoken. Serverus did not notice all the stares as he was checking the pressure gauges and thermal stats on his punk steam esc suit. The alien looked up at the group and sighed, "I'm not sure if you idiots don't know this but my job was to oversee mining operations not coordinating realm invasions."
"Look buddy you better change your attitude" The Justicar threatened
"I'm sorry if I can't follow a leader who doesn't have a plan already. I am only here because I thought the guardian would have killed us by now and I stay because the infinite would kill me, although if this keeps up I'll be dead either way"
"Focus you two." Xross ordered. "We have to get the remaining champions, only then can we have a chance at stopping what ever the Void God and his minions plan to do."
"Finding Ethan should be easier than trying to get to the prime mate of the Queen Matriarch." Mitchell nodded "Xross and I will track him down; I still have generals with in VALOR that owe me a few favours. I doubt the President will commit forces to us unless we show proof of the situation."
"I'll set course for the nearest Star out post in this quadrant for refuelling and supplies before we go looking for the Vanquisher." Captain Ranorin stated, "Crew dismissed." He saluted
Everyone got out of their seats and began to leave out the same door they used to enter the mission preparation room. Liken was about to exit when the Justicar tugged at her arm, the valgary shrugged him loose and turned to face him, "What do you want." She said angrily
"How are you holding up?" The Justicar asked sincerly
"Why do you care?" The valgary snapped at
"If we are going into battle together I need to know if you can do this."
Liken growled, "I know you only want to know is if I will try and kill you, and the answer is no. My hatred for the infinite is a lot more powerful than how much I dislike you." She said while shoving her index finger into his breastplate
"I don't mean that!" Arjun stated "I know you are having a hard time right now and I want to know if there is anything I can do to help"
"You want to help me?" Liken asked. "You can start by leaving me alone; I do not need your piety!"
Liken stormed out of the room with her claws clenched and muttering under her breath with low pitched growls as the Justicar shook his head before equipping his helmet.
[Planet Drakos; Azerigan's Cave; 3,568 A.D, November 25th, 9:07PM]
The once great gem of the draconian people, the planet Drakos, was up in flames. Corpses from all walks of life littered the streets; knights, merchants, homeless, nobles, it didn't matter who they were, what jobs they held or what age they were all of them where slaughtered to the last. Queen Matriarch Natyria crawled through her destroyed city streets in a river of her people's blood. She looked up to see the once clear sky was now on fire as her planet slowly died and before to long she collapsed from giving into her wounds.
"Y-you betrayed us all..." Natyria coughed; adding her own blood into the streets
Her cries were only answered by an infinite drone that slowly walked up behind her; its thunderous stomps rang in her skull. The drone's shoulder cannon got ready to fire when in it was interrupted.
"Azer wake up!" Talsora pleaded
Azerigan panicked when he awoke, he quickly turned his head to find his mate had sat him up with one hand around his back supporting him by the spot in-between his wings and her other placed on his chest. His mate blew a sigh of relief and held him tight, "You were having anther one of those nightmares weren't you...she whispered
Azerigan nodded, "Talsora I know you don't believe me bu-
"Azerigan I thought we had this talk already, the infinite are not out to get us!"
"Then why I am having these dreams!" Azerigan yelled
"Keep your voice down." Talsora snapped "The small ones are trying to sleep."
"Then why am I having these dreams" Azerigan said much softer
"I don't know. When was the last time you had a shaman look at you?"
"I do not need to be looked at by a doctor Tal! Something is not right; I have seen citizens who work for the infinite dig up unmarked graves and I've seen them place orders for black smiths to make special type of blades that have no handles!" Azerigan whispered
"You are just making that up to justify your racism against the infinite! The infinite have never wronged us in our lives and you promised you would stop this!" Talsora said trying to raise her voice just over his while still being quiet
"Talsora I love you and I love our children but I feel it in my very heart that we are being fed lies by Lord Vurdamis; how can a race that destroyed the Ghoul Empire just stop fighting to become our friends, never help us against the warm bloods and then say they are tracking down one individual we only know by word of mouth from them!?"
"You ask too many questions! Why can't you just be a proper consort and father like all the other males?!" Talsora yelled
"I am doing what all good draconians do, protecting my people!" Azerigan argued back
Just before Talsora responded to her paranoid mate the runt of their children, Vitee, walked in as apposed to flying from having his right wing much smaller than his left one. The young big eyed whelping carried his worn and torn blanket in his right claw dragging it across the ground collecting dirt and dust from the cave floor.
The whelp looked up at his mother and father who were now standing in front of each other on all fours, "You two aren't fighting about me are you?" Vitee asked innocently
Talsora shook her head, "No sweetie, go back to sleep."
"Everything is fine, son." Azerigan nodded after
Vitee rubbed his large left eye as he yawned sleepily. The whelping let out a small yap as his mother picked him up gently with her arms and walked off deeper in the cave, "Let's get you back to the nest." She soothed
Talsora looked back at her mate with a disappointed look before turning back to carry the child back to bed with her. Azerigan took off from the entrance of dwelling as he flew into the clear night sky to clear his head and for some fresh air.
[Sector Z (Contested Space); Dorian Grey; Command Bridge; 3,568 A.D, November 26th, 2:00AM]
"This is High General Bismarck of the Persecutor, state your rank and designation." Ordered the bald commander over the communication screen on the bridge's main terminal
"Captain Ranorin of the Dorian Grey." The captain spoke proudly
"Your ship is not is any of the roster for any battle groups in this sector, report back to your fleet admiral before I submit charges to your superior." Bismarck threatened
"I well good sir..." The captain paused before shutting down the communication channel before opening anther channel to the team waiting in the hanger bay, "Seer you better teleport fast as we can't stay in the system for much longer!"
"Why's that?" The Justicar asked as he sheathed his blade
"VALOR forces will becoming to check on us for permits we don't have, not to mention I don't think stealing the Vanquisher from the front would go down well with the High General."
"Well ain't that just grand." The Justicar answered sarcastically "Port us down then." He finished as he gave the thumbs up to the cloaked figure
"Remember, we will be teleporting you two as close as we can to the Vanquisher's target. You must get to it faster before he does where he will most likely rejoin Bismarck's forces." Captain Ranorin explained
"We got it." Arjun nodded with Liken
The Seer silently waved his left hidden arm in front of the two and in an instance they were gone in a blink of an eye.
Arjun fell to his knees coughing in his helmet, "ah...I can never get used to that." The human said as he tried to catch his breathing
Liken sniffed the air in any attempt to locate anything that might be nearby; she stood up onto her hind legs while putting her hands on the castle wall in front of her continuing trying to pick up a set as she pointed her head upwards. The Justicar looked back and forth between the hallway entrances for any patrols that might not be picked up by the valgary; he tapped her on the shoulder to see if she was done.
Liken shook her claws and pointed with her head towards the left, "I can smell a lot of people over by there. My guess is they are making a last stand against this Vanquisher." She stated
"You sure you aren't picking up the smell of my own badassery?" the Justicar joked
Liken took a long sigh and ran off in the direction she had pointed too leaving the knight to trail after her using his built in radar to track her throughout the twisting hallways of the seeming less empty castle. Bodies of the dead draconian knights became more and more frequent as the Justicar followed the valgary more and more but they were not killed by Liken as that would have slowed her down too much and the lizard folk had bullets holes riddles in their armour. Arjun could hear the shrieks and alien yells being echoed throughout the castle all of them with fear in their voice until they were silenced abruptly.
The final yells were all but gone when the Justicar caught up to Liken who was gently pushing a door open to the next room. Arjun waited behind her who poked her head in and with no danger she could find she crept in while remaining low to the ground trying to keep to the shadows of the flickering wall torches the chamber gave off. Liken rose her head up in the air as she heard the sound of metal being grinded together, she stealthily moved towards the noise when a round from the Vanquisher's handgun missed her head by inches.
"I prefer to have my kills aware of their hunter." The Vanquisher confidently said who still remained hidden from the two. "What's this? The last valgary is here? You will make a great addition to my collection..."
"We are not here to fight you, Ethan." The Justicar said as he looked around trying to pick up any other suit readings.
"The MKI Justicar is here as well? I am surprised that something hasn't killed you yet."
"I don't want to brag Mr. 'I wear skulls to look cool' but I defeated two demi-gods, a shit load of aliens and ten shit loads of undead. Trust me you don't want to fight me." The Justicar boasted while still trying to find where the Vanquisher's voice was coming from
"Impressive." The Vanquisher applauded
"We need your help against these space-ghost-vampires that come from anther plane of existence who want to destroy all organic life." The Justicar paused, "Still a mouthful to say..." he whispered afterwards
"The infinite, I remember them. They made great enemies as they were not completely soft like these aliens and if it means I get to leave the annoying general then I will help." The Vanquisher answered
"Oh well that's grea-"Arjun said before he was cut off
"I will help, after I have added the valgary to my tally.' The Vanquisher finished
Liken looked all around her to try and spot where the human would attack from when out of no where the Vanquisher had dropped down from the ceiling and landed in front of her. She leaped backwards as the trophy wearing human carried both of his pistols in both of his hands and fired; only to have the shots deflect off the Justicar's shield which blocked the valgary's body.
"You are not killing scales here." Arjun said sternly
"Then we have a problem." Responded Ethan
The Justicar and Liken stood side by side as the Vanquisher dared for his prey to make the first move. Liken got low to the ground ready to leap forward as the Justicar held his shield in front of him with his sword over his shoulder as they stared back at the red and black armoured human seeing if he would attack first.
The Vanquisher unloaded his handguns onto the two with his customized ammunition; armour piercing for the silver knight and anti-personal for the valgary. Both of the Vanquisher's targets ran towards him through his fearsome firepower but as the two neared him the black and red killer tossed a concussion grenade towards them that detonated right in front of them as it hit the ground. Liken and Arjun were thrown to the ground by the non lethal blast allowing the Vanquisher to run backwards to gain more distance on the two as they quickly got back up.
Liken immediately charged the Vanquisher who now held his position firing away at her; rounds ripped into her highly protective scales but she continued to press on and as she stood up to swipe down the human he fired a shot straight into her thigh penetrating both her power armour and the natural plating. The valgary winced in pain allowing ample time for the Vanquisher to trip Liken. She fell onto the ground before he kicked her onto her back then aimed his handguns at her skull. With sword and shield in hand the Justicar jumped towards his adversary ready to bring his blade down upon the Vanquisher but when he was about to strike the red and black armoured human easily avoided the heavy-handed MKI Justicar. The Vanquisher kicked the sword out of the knight's hand before slamming is armoured fist straight into the Justicar's helmet disorienting him.
The Vanquisher took pleasure as he slammed his elbow into the Justicar's neck sending him to the ground, "No wonder the President wanted you to be replaced, you are nothing but a kid in out of date armour. It would be an insult to add you to my tally." He stated
The Vanquisher turned back to Liken who had trouble standing up from her injury but the Justicar refused to stay down and swung his shield at the trophy wearing human. Ethan fumbled forward from being hit in the back of the head as Liken clenched her teeth to help deal with the pain and stood up straight before she slashed at the Vanquisher's chest plate.
Blue thrusts jetted from the Vanquisher's jet pack allowing him to hover in the air as he rained down a non stop barrage of death from his pistols as ammunition was downloaded into his weapons so he would never have to reload. The Justicar planted his shield in the ground to use it as cover as Liken took cover behind the many columns in the ante-chamber.
Flames ignited from the wrists of the Vanquisher who proceeded to bathe the silver knight in a sea of fire as he flew around the chamber avoiding columns to chase down the Justicar who started running immediately. As the hovering super soldier watched the Justicar hide behind anther pillar he did not see the valgary clenching her teeth as she crept towards the Vanquisher from behind. Liken leaped onto the Vanquisher's back tearing at his helmet and with a swipe of her claw she punctured his jet pack before dropping off of the human.
The Vanquisher pressed a button on his wrist pad as his jack pack went wild from having one of its fuel tanks punctured that carried him around like a violent roller coaster. His jet pack unlocked itself from his power pack before the device hit a column causing it to explode as the rest of the fuel detonated from the impact.
Both Liken and the Justicar walked over to the Vanquisher whose highly carved armour now had several charred burns around it. Ethan let out a small chuckle, "I always hated to lose..."
The Justicar offered his hand to the Vanquisher who regretfully accepted it and stood back up before he looked at Liken, "You too also fought well, I will think again before trying anther attempt against you."
Liken only answer back with a growl before the Justicar intervened, "Hey, she doesn't need your bullshit, I've stopped and so should you."
Liken shoved the Justicar out of the way, "I don't need protection, especially from you, human." Liken turned her focus to the Vanquisher, "Come any where near me when were not on a mission and I will skin you alive."
Liken stormed off with her tail pointed up in the air caused from her aggravation who still limped from her wound but the Justicar chased after her.
Liken hissed, "Don't touch me." She ordered when Arjun was about to put his hand on her shoulder
"You're injured, you need help." He answered
"I don't need your help." She growled before wincing as she continued to limp away on all fours
Too Liken's surprise the Justicar picked her up in both of his arms as she growled, hissed and kicked about when she dropped from the Justicar's arm and hit the ground. The valgary got back up and fell on her good leg as she couldn't go on like this anymore. The Justicar picked up Liken once again where she coughed, "Let me down."
The Justicar shook his head, "Not going to happen." He smiled under his helmet as he carried her off to the extraction point as the Vanquisher followed in behind.
