As Holly finished the last bites of her breakfast, her hooded gaze cast over the table, to where Aiden sat, resting his chin on a paw.
"You know," Aiden commented drily. "I think you've earned a little treat, my sweet mare."
Holly raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence. "A treat? For me? I did finish my breakfast like a good filly - "
Aiden grinned at her, his warmth and love for her undeniable. "That's true, so..."
He rose, then walked back into the kitchen, returning moments later, holding something behind his back. Holly spun her chair around, then looked up expectantly.
"Close your eyes and open your muzzle - " Aiden murmured playfully.
"Oh no - " Holly snorted, her eyes narrowing. "Last time we did that, you pushed something into my mouth..."
Aiden chuckled and nodded. "I didn't hear you complain... No, besides, I may be a German Shepherd, but even a beautiful equine like yourself - well... Now, open and close, in that order please."
Dubious, Holly snorted through her nostrils, then closed her eyes and opened her mouth wide. Aiden leaned forwards, popping three large strawberries into her mouth, before gently closing it.
"Mmmm," Holly murmured, chewing them slowly, her eyes misty and filled with the sensual pleasure the sweet, ripe berries brought to her. "They're so good..."
Aiden grinned, pleasured by her reaction, watching as Holly savored the sweetness of the strawberries. A playful expression came over him as he watched her enjoy the sweet treat.
"You deserve a treat," Aiden admitted, leaning back against the table and crossing his arms. "Consider it a reward, for being a good filly - "
Holly ran her tongue around her mouth, hunting the last tantalizing taste, before she lifted her glass of orange juice and took a deep drink, glancing sideways at Aiden whilst she did so.
"Well, I'd certainly hope so, last night, you were wild - like a savage, feral wolf, moon-sick and savage..."
Aiden's cheeks flushed and he glanced away. "I can explain that - I got a little carried away - "
Holly looked away before a shy smile curled her lips and her cheeks dimpled. "Please do it again..."
Aiden, momentarily taken aback, stared at her, before Holly giggled, then whinnied in hysterical laughter. "Oh my love, I wish you could have seen your face - "
Aiden mock growled at her before he reached out and lightly pressed a finger against her nose. "That's not nice - after everything I do for you..."
Theatrically, he slapped the back of his forearm against his head and moaned, hamming it up beyond all recognition, listening to Holly's giggles, which set his tail wagging behind him. "Besides, I might still have a trick or two up my sleeve. You never know what surprises await you, my sweet mare!"
Holly snorted and looked at him, before raising an eyebrow. "As long as it doesn't involve another unexpected pool dive - I'm interested..."
Aiden grinned then licked her forehead. "No, none of that - I promise."
Holly's eyes narrowed behind her eyelashes as she squinted at him. "I'll hold you to that promise -"
Aiden grinned at Holly's exuberance, feeling his love for her grow with each passing moment. He took a step back, vanishing back into the kitchen for a moment, before he returned, Holly's eyes narrowing in suspicion.
"Now what are you up to - " Holly asked.
"Nothing, why...do you think I should?" Aiden looked innocent before he smiled at her and waggled a finger at her. "Uh uh uh - close your eyes and hold your paws out..."
Holly rolled her eyes theatrically before she giggled and closed them before Aiden snorted and looked at her. "No peeking, I can see the glimmer of your eyes, close them - on you won't get your gift..."
With a sulky snort, Holly closed her eyes, then held her paws out, making a cupping gesture with them. Aiden gently placed a gift-wrapped box in her hands, then tenderly closed her fingers over it.
"Now you can look - "
Holly opened her eyes, and then uncurled her fingers, at first her eyes became confused before her expression turned to curiosity, then excitement.
"Ooo - " Holly nickered in pleasure. "What's this?"
Aiden merely smiled wider. "Open it, my love, you'll find out."
Holly held it on one paw, her hooflets carefully plucking the edge of the fine ribbon, before untying it, then ever so carefully opened the box.
Inside, was a beautiful silver horse-shoe-shaped pendant, hanging from a fine silvery chain. As Holly tenderly picked it up, she draped the chain over her furred fingers and held the pendant up to the early morning sunlight. It shone and sparkled, and then Holly's eyes widened as she saw the fine diamonds that caught and reflected the light.
"Aiden..." Holly's mouth fell open and her eyes doubled in size. "It's...beautiful - "
Aiden reclaimed the necklace from her, deftly unclasping it, then turning Holly's chair around. As he gathered up part of her silvery mane and then she reached back to hold it, Aiden affixed it around her neck, letting it dangle down against her fine golden fur, nestled midway down her throat.
"I spotted this a few weeks back," Aiden murmured, as he turned her back around, gazing down at the beautiful pendant. "I couldn't help but think it'd look perfect on you - and I was right. Consider this, my love, as a token of gratitude and my love for you, for being the most extraordinary mare I could ever hope to love."
Holly gazed up at him, gently cupping the pendant in her fingers before a sudden wave of emotion swept over her, and she burst into tears, her sobs echoing off the walls. Aiden enveloped her in his embrace, cradling her head against his chest while tenderly stroking her back.
"Shh, my sweet - there's no need for tears, it's alright."
Amidst her sobbing, Holly's words were unintelligible.
"Beautiful?" Aiden asked, curious and guessing at her muffled responses. "Yes, it is. It'll never be as beautiful as you. Now, come on, let's dry those pretty eyes of yours."
Aiden continued to gently hold Holly in his strong embrace, stroking her neck tenderly as her sobs slowly subsided. Once they'd broken to the occasional sniffle, Aiden released her, cupping her tear-streaked face with his paw.
"Better, my love?" Aiden whispered, resting his forehead against hers, his eyes filled with concern and affection.
Holly nodded, her emotions still raw and jagged, but a weak smile touched the corners of her lips. Aiden reached into his pocket, producing a handkerchief, almost as if by magic. With a smile, he gently dabbed at her eyes, then wiped her cheeks clear of the residual tears.
"Now," Aiden murmured with an affectionate smile and a gentle kiss on her forehead. "how about we continue our day? There's something else I'd like to show you."
Holly's eyes widened, and her ears flattened as she looked up at him, her watery nostrils slightly flaring.
"More?" Holly's whisper was barely heard.
Aiden just smiled, then held his paws out, before Holly rose, Aiden helping her up.
"Come on, let's get you showered and dressed - as alluring as this attire is... I don't think it'd be appropriate..."
Holly flushed, hanging her head, before she allowed herself to be led off to the bathroom by her dear, sweet, and gentle-hearted mate.
When Holly stepped out of the bathroom, Aiden gasped and shuddered, before he laughed nervously, taking in what Holly had decided to wear...
Holly embraced the casual allure of the warm, sun-kissed day, her attire consisting of a lovely apricot-colored tank top that plunged down off her golden shoulders and only barely - modestly covered her breasts. Complementing this, was a mini-skirt of matching colors, its pleats swirling around her as she spun about, capturing her carefree and effeminate nature beautifully.
"What's wrong - " Holly asked, seeing the awkward look on Aiden's face. "You don't like it?"
Aiden coughed delicately into a fist before he twitched and smiled nervously. "My dear, if you're going to dress like that - we might not make it to the park... If you take my meaning..."
Holly blinked, then her eyes went wide and ears partially flattened, before she flushed, slapping her paws against her cheeks, a weak, shy nicker of laughter escaping her lips.
*
Before them, the spacious park unfolded in its mid-summer glory. It was an almost overwhelming tapestry of colors and scents. Aiden, carrying a large picnic basket in the crook of one arm, let Holly take the lead.
Holly strolled beneath the towering oak trees, their leaves gently rustling in the cool breeze. Sunlight filtered down, casting adorable dapples across Holly's fur and the well-worn path on which they trod, Aiden's footfalls were almost silent, whilst Holly's had a distinctive clip-clop sound.
Finally, they found an enchanting little spot, and Aiden spread out a large thick blanket, before laying out a wide variety of fresh fruits, beautiful sandwiches, and even for dessert - some chocolate truffles.
Holly's eyes widened as she saw the repast before her, before she looked up at Aiden, then back at the food.
"You're either trying to fatten me up..." Holly murmured, trying to decide what to try first.
Aiden grinned and popped a small cherry tomato into his mouth before he chewed it and sighed in pleasure. "You could put on a few pounds, but you're beautiful just the way you are."
Holly blushed, turning her head to the side as she reached for an apple - her paw hovering over it.
"You don't need my permission, Holly," Aiden smiled. "A few apples won't hurt, and I know how much your people love them."
Holly poked the tip of her tongue out in a mischievous smirk before she picked it up and her large, blunt teeth bit effortlessly into the apple, as she chewed it thoughtfully, her head moving around, ears twitching, as she took in the sights and sounds around them.
Aiden snickered softly, picking and choosing his own repast with consideration and thought. His own senses were on high alert, yet to look at him, he seemed perfectly calm and relaxed - yet he'd be up and protecting Holly before she even knew he'd moved... Not that he expected anything untoward to happen, it didn't hurt to be cautious...
*
After their repast, Holly ate three times what Aiden put away, which was still a considerable amount, Holly delicately wiped her muzzle with a napkin, which she crumpled up and set aside.
Aiden glanced sideways at her, then shook his head in bewilderment.
"What?" Holly smirked at him.
"I just wonder - " Aiden admitted, as he shook his head again. "You eat three times what I do - where...do you put it?"
Holly's playful smirk spread wider, the edges of her lips curling up and cheeks dimpling. "A mare needs to have some secrets..."
Aiden merely shook his head and chuckled.

As they lounged on the blanket, full bellies, and the warm summer sun making its way across the afternoon sky, the laughter of children at play echoed across the park. A butterfly, beautiful in color, landed on Holly's nose, making her go cross-eyed, and then her beautiful smile spread across her lips as she stared down her muzzle at it. As gracefully as it had landed, it rested a moment, before fluttering off again.
Aiden's fingers traced the contours of Holly's left hoof, a subtle gesture that spoke volumes of the love and affection he had for her. Holly looked over at him, and Aiden smiled back, before lightly walking his fingers up her hoof to her furred ankle, and onto her knee.
"Down, pup - " Holly whispered, a nervous giggle escaping her.
"Or else...what..." Aiden murmured, sliding his fingers up past her knee and towards her mid-thigh.
Holly giggled and pulled her leg away, feeling aroused and embarrassed at the same time. Gently, she placed her paw over Aiden's, then with a nervous glance around, she slid it up under the hem of her skirt.
Aiden's fingers caressed and brushed the leathery sheath - ever so tenderly slipping first one - then two and finally - three fingers inside, curling them lightly.
Holly squirmed and leaned backward, her muzzle falling open and body quivering in pleasure.
"Such a tease- " Aiden snickered, twirling and twisting his fingers. "You just wait until we get home missy... I'll teach you to tease a Shepherd..."
Holly twitched as Aiden teasingly brushed against her pressure-points before she gasped and her eyes widened. "You wouldn't dare..."
Aiden's right eyebrow quirked, and he grinned, before relaxing his gentle pressure and sliding his fingers back out again. "It might be funny..."
With an embarrassed snort, Holly playfully slapped him on the chest.
"You're so gullible -"
Aiden laughed quietly, then leaned forward and kissed Holly, his lips forming a seal against hers, silencing her quiet protests. For several moments, the two lovers embraced and shared this passionate moment, before Aiden broke the kiss and sighed in lustful longing, Holly's eyes sparkling with her own urges.
"All good things, come to those who wait - " Aiden pronounced dramatically. "It's high time, my dear, sweet mare..."
Aiden's paw dipped into the picnic basket, before he extricated something, holding it in his paw, before he got up, then as Holly watched, Aiden knelt on one knee before her, before he opened the box and held it up to her.
"Ms. Holly Jackson," Aiden spoke quietly. "Will you do me the honor..."
Holly's eyes grew wide, as she stared down at the beautiful ring in the velvet embrace of the box, then up at Aiden. Her ears slicked back and tears welled in her lavender-hued eyes.
"Do me the honor - of becoming my wedded wife?"
His proposal hung in the air like a suspended breath, anticipation and love radiating from him. Tears began to trickle down Holly's furred cheeks, as she sniffled, then uttered the words Aiden desired with all his heart to hear.
"Yes..."
Aiden took the ring, and as Holly lifted her paw up, he tenderly slipped it onto her finger. To Holly, the world itself seemed to vanish - leaving only her and Aiden, who knelt down and began to tenderly kiss away the salty tears that now ran down Holly's cheeks.
