Poem: The End of a Lonely Night

Story by Brandie on SoFurry

The lights outside flicker in the darkness

As they often do in these scenes.

The Setting:

A rundown cheap Motel

In a twelve-by-twelve room,

Empty even with me in it.

The Time:

Dark enough

To see the City from these outskirts

And without a decent cup of coffee.

I stare out the large, lone window

Always big enough

For that cliché jump

And splatter

Without hitting the so few flowers at the entrance.

Clever.

I swig down my last half-shot

while listening to the static of the T.V.

White-noise on deaf ears.

I absent mindedly brush off dirt

From my stained jeans

One last look at her picture

And my note

And I make my final quick decent.
