Poem: The Grass is Soft

Story by Brandie on SoFurry

I lay here slipping

and look to the bright sky.

The grass feels so soft.

The sky begins to change.

Purples and pinks appear

with no single sound

They blend together

to form the night's blues and blacks.

Still, the grass is soft

A light catches my eye.

Dozens appear from no where

cover the night sky.

The air pricks my skin

like a cold hand grabbing me.

Still, the grass is soft.

The colors come back

the sun and warmth come too.

All but me are well.

My life is now gone

My body lies cold and stiff.

Still, the grass is soft.
