"Stop!" a voice roared busting through the doors and calling attention to the room.

I opened my eyes but could only make out a watery blur. I didn't need my sight to know who's voice that was however, it was my Mistress. I would forever recognize her beautiful voice, like the most beautiful song to my ears. Though Sisay had no intention of delaying my death and pressed harder on my neck.

"I would not do that if I were you, less you wish to find yourself in the same position." my Mistress demanded moving up the isle way.

"What is this nonsense of yours now? Don't you know trying to buy a few seconds for your precious little pet will not save him from death?" Sisay growled.

"That human is not to be harmed as direct orders from the Head Mistress herself! So I suggest you take your claws off him before I dig mine into you!" Mistress Ariana Threatened.

"Bah, your words mean spit to me Ariana. Your just a low level who cannot finish the job!" Blood began to drip from her claw as it pressed tightly against my neck.

"Maybe my words are meaningless to you, but I know someone who has meaning in her words to all of us."

It was at that point I could make out something entering the room. Everyone gasped and got out of there seats falling to there knees in bowing honor. The claw on my neck retracted as Mistress Sisay stepped back in disbelief. I still couldn't make anything out with my sight. My face stinged with blood dripping down it and my arms that have been tied to this post were bending painfully to keep me standing. There was a voice then. A voice that reminded me of every joy I ever had in my life and gave me every fear that I had as well. It was like nothing I had ever heard before, a voice with authority but care as well.

"Mistress Sisay" she announced moving up closer to the stage. "Mistress Ariana has informed me personally that you have been drifting from our motives with the Humans. You have been even sacrificing there lives with pleasure she says. Creating a conspiracy against the Humans, what say you in your own defense?"

"Head Mistress...these humans, they have been soiling our planet, destroying our resources. Why do they deserve our mercy, we should rid these pest of our sight once and for all." She tried to keep to her beliefs but she was scared.

"That is enough. Sisay, I strip you of your ranks and order you under restraint held in Sector D untill the courts there have decided your fate for such actions. Guards..." I heard the guards that originally dragged me here for my death gladly cuff Sisay and drag her out of this room. Then I saw a white blur stand in front of me. "Mistress Ariana, please release our favored."

"Yes Head Mistress" She said moving behind me and I felt the cuffs released from my sore wrists. I collapsed to the ground on my knees in tears, holding my bloodied face with my hands.

"You are the human they call Snake, and from what I understand you are the only one that has ever been able to understand our language, is this correct?" The figure asked.

I Nodded my head whipping my eyes clean and looking up. I beheld a wondrous sight in front of me. Standing over me was one of them, a creature like my Mistress but this one was even taller then Mistress Ariana. She had pure white fur over her body, not the ash black I have seen on all the others. She had calming gentle eyes with a warm glow within them, they were not the narrow stare the others could give. She had a set of horns breaching out from her long white hair.

"Mistress Ariana, do you care for your pet, take pity on his misfortunes and tend to his wounds be them physical or emotional?"

"I do." Mistress Ariana responded. "With all my heart"

"Then I put this human under immunity. Under no circumstances should any of us harm him. He will live to see the ritual performed just as us for he has become one in our ranks." I couldn't believe my ears. The Head Mistress crouched down to me and held out her arms. "Let me have the honor Snake of embracing you after this cruel event. It is the least our race can do to apologies for the horrible things you have been through."

I stared at her with disbelief... was this even real? The entire time I was here I believed there race wanted to end the human race for the hatred towards them... that hatred was just because of one bad Mistress? Then why did they kill all the other humans? I didn't understand, what was this ritual, why was I being spared? None of this made sense to me at all. I was frightened and confused and just as instincts have done before I leaped forward and hugged around her neck baring my face in her shoulder. She smiled and cradled me in her arms picking me up as she stood up herself and turned to the many there in the room.

"Whatever Sisay had once tried to make you believe disregard that knowledge at once. Our purpose is not to harm these fragile creatures anymore. There are some bad humans just like there are some bad in some of us. However there are humans who are harmless and only wish for care not hurt like this one here. Just like there are in us who wish for care and no more pain." She turned back to Mistress Ariana as she talked to me "Now now little one, live with us in peace until the ritual. What then even I do not know. Your Mistress will explain all you want to know. Now return to the caring arms of your Mistress Snake." She held me out to my Mistress and I gladly leaped into her arms rubbing my head against her shoulder. It felt like and eternity since I have been within her embrace.

"aww Snake everything is ok now. Everything will be fine." Mistress Ariana told me, and I honestly believed her, why wouldn't I?

"Mistress Ariana, to your righteous ways I am promoting you to Sisay's ranks. You are now the head Mistress of this sector and all here will follow your orders. Show us all how we should truly treat humans with care and not hatred." She smiled nodding to my Mistress who nodded back with happiness.

"Yes Head Mistress, thank you."

"This event is dismissed. Blessings to you all and remember our true task, we are not savages." The head Mistress claimed and made her way out.

When she left everyone returned to there feet and smiled up at us. They were glad to be rid of Sisay, glad that I was spared and that things have been set right. I still didn't understand a lot of what they were talking about but I trusted my Mistress would fill the gaps in my knowledge. Mistress Ariana took me out of the room and down the hall back into her chambers, despite the cold environment I was growing use to the room had never been more warm and welcoming to me.

She close the door and gently set me down on my bed which I rarely used anymore but for injuries I had to rest here to heal. Ariana put my staff I had dropped during the interruption against the wall nearby and knelt down at the side of my bed with some cotton like material and a herbal remedy they have used for a long time now to treat cuts and scraps. She gently whipped the blood from my face with the moist cloth and applying the herb that helped numb the sting and close the wound.

"Mistress Ariana?" I asked

"Yes Snake?"

"Why does it seem like no one knows what will happen after this ritual? Is something bad going to happen?" I worried

"Don't worry yourself over that now hun" She smiled reassuringly "I will tell you everything you want to know tomorrow." She spoke softly rubbing at my scratches a little more to make sure they were clean.

"Mistress Ariana, there is just one other thing..."

"Yes Snake, go ahead." She encouraged.

"Your kind has very sharp claws." I smiled lightening the rather grim situation that happened.

"Yes" She chuckled softly "Yes we sure do, but I promise you these claws of mine would never harm you like Sisay did today." She was done cleaning my wound and applying the herb and stared down at me with a smile.

"I know Mistress, I trust you more then anyone I could ever think of. I trust you and I love you." I said meaning every word.

"Aww hun, You know I trust you too, and of course I love you with all my heart. That is why I refused to stand here and have you hurt anymore. I went to the one person I knew could make things happen." She smiled petting my head softly "Rest now Snake, I have a couple of places to be and a few people to talk to and I will return shortly to check up on you."

I nodded "Yes Mistress. Thank you."

"My pleasure dear." She said giving my forehead a gentle kiss before getting up and darkening the room leaving me to my rest under my warm blanket.
