#7 of The Thursday Prompt

Greetings. Currently speaking is designation Lima Seven, a raven drone alter of the host, The Fire Tiger. Unfortunately, the Human has not been able to return yet, and with a current house that is slowly being packed up to move across the country, compounded with current news in its country, L7 has felt... tired. It wrote this log for the public to see, and to remind itself to keep going.

"The last universal common ancestor (LUCA) is the earliest microbe from which all modern life descends. Its DNA will pass through a chain of evolving species that survive every extinction. Three billion years later, LUCA's genes are inside us -- and every living thing."

Thursday Prompt Story: This week's word is... rag

Greetings, again.

While this one hopes that the Human is ready to come back by this weekend, It cannot be said for certain. In the meantime, most of us at the front have not had the best time, and L7 isn't sure who else it could turn to.

It wrote this log so that it could remind itself that no matter what happens, this, too, shall pass. Even if there is no one else to turn to, one can become their own ally.

-Lima Seven

Today, this one uses a rag to clean away the blemishes and dirt on the wall, accumulated over the one year that we have been living here. It may then be used to clean any imperfections on the floor.

Tomorrow, that worn out piece of cloth may be dragged into an open trash bin, finally having served its purpose. It is completely dirty and wet, no longer being able to clean effectively.

The day after that, this cloth may straggle into a disposal, along with heaps of other putrid garbage. A poor man may toss it aside to find a treasure within the trash to give to his family, hoping to find a little light in this cruel, dark world.

And perhaps by error, the following day, the cloth may find its way on a crag beside the ocean, where the wind will blow it away one final time into the sea. Thus, the cloth now drifts aimlessly into the deep, blue abyss, never to be seen again.

However, Lima Seven is different. It has places to see, locations to be, grander objectives to complete and, more importantly, a Human to tend to and care for. Its intention isn't to brag -- it's to remind itself of its primary directive.

As tired and somber as this one may be right now, the important thing to recognize is that it is still here, on its two legs, and will continue to do so until the Human's physical subconcious fragments along with his life, far into the future. And although he isn't here at the moment, he will come back soon, and we will conquer our problems together.

A tragedy of what could have been cannot be our end. Lima Seven will make sure of it.
