Two Worlds: Black Out (12)
#12 of Two Worlds (Finished)
King Alexander focused more on his position of King than he would have focused on anythi...
King Alexander focused more on his position of King than he would have focused on anything else. Of course, as Queen-and wife-Krystella would support her husband like any other wife would. She loved Alexander from the day she laid eyes on him at the Royal Ball years ago, and the feeling never abandoned her since, you could say she experienced the "Love At First Sight" moment.
Although, she had grew tired of him focusing more on his responsibility then focusing on the larger fact that her mother was arriving in town within the next few days. Which meant getting everything ready and spotless by the time she arrived, especially an appropriate room that would meet up to her standards.
Krystella admitted her mother was a huge thorn in her side since the day she was born; her mother always had to act like the better one in everything and sometimes the spoiled one. Her attitude always gave the impression of being unimportant, which gave the answer to Krystella's question of why her husband hasn't been focusing more on this matter. Her mother made Alexander feel less important, as if she was thinking the job of King shouldn't have been the right choice for the Panther.
She always had high expectations. Especially the kinds of expectations that Krystella always got from her mother when she visited, she would always say: "You should have married a better man than this one, Krystella. I am truly disappointed in you."
That made Krystella Scoff and put her book down on her lap, looking up over the castle baloney and taking in the magnificent view of Arella. The kingdom was built with small shacks that usually extended long enough that Krystella wouldn't see the fields outside the castle walls. All she saw over those walls were the snow tipped mountains that made everything seem beautiful and still. She wanted to go inside and grab her painting utensils, but felt glued to the chair; the view was too hard to miss.
This was one of the things that Krystella loved about being royalty. She got the best view in town that no one would ever had but her and her husband. She wanted to feel selfish enough for this view to be hers, but that would make her more like her mother, and that was something she hated.
Hearing Alexander walk through the bedroom door with his apprentice, Humphrey, she erased the thought of her mother and closed the book, placing it on the patio table beside her and listening to the movements behind her.
"Seeing you in front of this view is astonishing." Alexander said as he now stood behind her chair, resting his hands on her shoulders and massaging around certain joints that he grew to study since the day they were married.
Krystella smiled, "Stop trying to sound sophisticated, that's not the man I married."
The King Panther laughed and rounded his wife to sit in the chair on the opposite side of the table, "I can never fool you, Krystella."
Of course he couldn't, ten years married with him was all she needed to read him like a book. He reached out and poured some tea into his cup that Humphrey had brought him, spilling a couple drops on the glass surface. Make that 3 years.
Humphrey grabbed a cloth from his breast pocket and began to clean the mess,as if it were out of habbit, "You know, Alexander, Mother will be arriving within the next few days. We need to start preparing for this before she arrives."
"Oh, well there is an extra bed in Humphrey's room. I'm sure he wouldn't mind sharing his quarters with someone." Humphrey dropped his cloth over the edge of the table, quivering a little.
"I'm serious. She expects every single thing to be ready for her when she arrives. And I don't want to go through her expectations talk again this year." Krystella crossed her legs and looked over at Humphrey, who was bending down to retrieve his cloth and managing to hit his head on the edge of the table after, "Humphrey, are you alright?"
"Ah," Humphrey hesitated and held his head with a dumbfounded look, "Yes, my lady, I am just fine." His ears tilted down in embarrassment.
"Regardless anyway, Krystella," Alexander spoke after glancing at his assistant, "everything should be in preparation for your mother. I've got extra workers today to go through the list of expectations. You have my word." He smiled at his wife and took in the view of her.
"And what about my brother, have you found him yet?"
Alexander smiled, "Have no worries, my dear," He kept his voice from sounding too sinister, but Humphrey already sensed it in his eyes, "Demetrius will be here by tomorrow."
"Kevin. Kevin C'mon open up..." Derik stood outside Kevin's bedroom door, his back leaning against the wall on the side, "Kevin, I'm sorry!"
Kevin didn't care at the apology. He was too numb to even think of anything else. Sitting on the ground with his legs brought up to his chest, the Human only stared out blankly at the carpeting, just focusing on a comfortable spot and letting his mind wonder through a state of dreams and memories.
"You know," The sound of his fiancées voice vibrated his thoughts, "If you want to talk about it... we can." Demetrius was sitting on Kevin's desk chair looking tired and exhausted but still able to focus. Kevin was looking like a wreck now, and considering how his gaze wasn't moving and seemed blank and empty inside, the Husky felt the need to embrace him into a hug. But he knew this would upset the boy in his state-of-shock right now.
Since, of course, he was in denial.
It was a normal phase, Demetrius knew that by fact, but it usually depends on how well the person would react to their judgement in sexual preference. Kevin would have to make a decision sometime soon, though how long would it take? That, was the million dollar question.
"No. I don't." Kevin said, his voice cold and blank that Demetrius was starting to feel like he was being told to go away.
"Kevin!" Derik's voice came back.
"You going to ignore him all day?" It was a simple question, straight to the point so Kevin wouldn't be more angrier. The vibe from the room was intense, the Husky felt like he was ready to embrace himself for an earth quake.
"Yes."
"Well he won't go away unless you answer him. Little siblings are too stubborn." Kevin made eye contact with the glacier blue eyes, they were telling the Husky to shut up. But Kevin wasn't backing down. He's not giving up on him now.
"Kevin... I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, bro." Derik's voice shifted to a soft plea.
"Kevin, look," Demetrius stood up and walked to the window, looking at the wet sparkles that lit up like glitter, "Your brother right now cares about you. And by the sound of it he's worried about you. Open the door for him and talk it out. "
Kevin didn't answer.
"Kevin." Demetrius pressed on again, still not getting an answer.
"Kevin." Derik followed afterward, his voice cracking a bit.
"Open the door, Kevin."
Kevin immediately took in a breath, "Shut up! Both of you shut the hell up now! Leave me ALONE!"
"Both?" he whispered to himself.
Derik wanted to rewind thirty seconds back and hear that last part again. Was there someone inside the room with Kevin? There couldn't have been, Derik was outside this door for almost an hour and a half now, he would have seen someone. Could someone come through his window? No, the house was practically covered in a thin black sheet of ice; someone would have to be on the edge of insanity to do something that crazy.
Could he be talking to himself?
Kevin wasn't clinically insane. At least that's what he figured as much, Kevin was his brother, so he would have found out if he was someday. But so far he's fine. Or maybe it was a trick to get rid of Derik. Well it's a stupid idea, it actually made Derik more interested than he really wanted to be. Curiosity had to eventually get the best of him, and it did when he realized he was stepping forward to listen for any sounds in the room. All was silent except for the sound of Derik's own heartbeat, the room on the other side of the door sounded pretty quiet as well so Derik was now starting to think it was a hoax.
"Are you crazy?"
Derik inhaled quickly but not too loud for Kevin to hear. So Derik's theory was proven wrong after all, Kevin wasn't trying to fool him, someone was in the room! Derik moved forward and pressed his ear to the door.
"Kevin, you do realize I cannot be revealed to anybody," Derik was certain it was a male's voice, all though this person was whispering quite harshly it was hard to recognize. There was more silence for a couple seconds until the unfamiliar voice began to speak again, "Look, I know you don't wanna hear this but let me just say this. You and I are engaged for a reason. It doesn't just happen, it was fate. I know we hardly know much about this marriage stuff but I'm sure as hell glad it happened after experiencing last night with you--."
Derik pulled back immediately.
Was everything true about Kevin? Derik thought, staring blankly and trying to piece everything together all at once. This was a lot to take in but it was possibly enough for him to be placing the missing puzzle pieces together. But what about the marriage their talking about, is Kevin getting engaged? Kevin would have mentioned it...Right?
More muffled voices came after, so Derik returned his ear to the door, "-I don't want to hear about last night." It was Kevin's voice now, and his whisper was rougher and death sounding, "It never happened, got it! You tricked me into it!"
"Tricked you? You kissed me first, remember? Don't go blaming your denial on me, kiddo."
"Denial?" He said it as if he were growling it through his teeth, "I'm not in denial! What happened last night never happened got it? So go and think all this stuff if you want because I believe that it wasn't true."
The person made an annoyed sigh, "Look, Kevin, can you even listen to what you're saying right now? Last night did happen; do I need to remind you of what even happened?"
There was silence as the response, so the stranger went on.
"After you kissed me, we made-."
"-Stop it!" Kevin shouted, his voice cracking in the process.
"...Love. We made love."
"NO!" his voice was like thunder now, and Derik knew that when Kevin got to this stage of anger, there was bound to be a black out for him, "Demetrius I'm now sick of this! You're a freaking dog and I'm a human! This doesn't mix! I'm just a kid and I'm apparently getting married out of the blue! In my world, we normally ask the person we love if they want to marry us, but your way is just forcing someone into this without any choice."
"So what're you saying?" the man-Demetrius-asked the question slowly, as if he was in shock of Kevin's loud volume, "You don't wanna marry me?"
Kevin's intake of air was harsh, "Let me make it clear. I hate you, and marrying you would be the last thing I would want to do right now... I'm done with you, Demetrius. This random relationship that was thrown on my lap...is over..." There was a loud thud followed afterward, the sound was a body falling to the floor. Derik recognized this instantly.
Kevin fainted.
"Kevin wake up!"
A familiar voice woke Kevin out of his state of unconsciousness, opening his eyes to find Damien standing over him with his hands grasping his shoulders. Tears were streaming down his cheeks and the expression on his face was not the usual happy, it was fear.
"Kevin wake up! Demetrius is about to do something stupid! Wake up!"
