#1 of Anteronian Adventures

Netty is a bad girl who likes to burgle nobles and cuck the nobleman. Veshra is a mercenary who can't help but flirt. What happens when one becomes the bounty target for the other?

This story is a collaboration between myself and Fours! Netty and art by Fours. Veshra and writing by me. We came up with the story during brainstorming together!

The night-black creature zips from rooftop to rooftop on the night sky, fresh from a recent conquest. Her smile, looking almost painted on, is wide as she glories over her conquest of the evening. It's a decent haul that the feline felon holds over her shoulder, but it is also the thing she left behind that has her acting like a Cheshire.

The next day, the Judicators of Anteronia were at the nobleman's estate. The old man fumes about the injustice and the perversion of peace in the middle of the night. Meanwhile, his daughter, a lovely lady,, sits silently. She stares wistfully out the window, a hand upon her cheek as she stares out to the streets of the city of love.

"They call her Netty, and she's been a lot more trouble lately than she's worth," says the old scarred Blacksmith. He jams a red-hot sword into the water, and the steam billows up, covering him and the one he's speaking to in an obscuring vapor.

"I saw the aftermath of her crimes," says the hunter, the only thing visible being the movement of a gold coin between fingers. "Quite a pro, indeed. The price on her head better be worth the effort catching her."

"Worth it enough," the Blacksmith says. "The nobles are gettin' their resources together, payin' off the guards and putting up a secret reward for her to disappear."

He reaches into his pocket and tosses a folded-up paper.

A long, blue tail slashes out from the smoke, snatching the paper into its hiding place.

The hunter whistles. "With a reward like this, they could just pay her to take the next arcanalocomotive out of town.

"They want to make an example of her. It's either someone like us, or it's someone like Tobias. I told my contact it'd be better for all people involved if she weren't torn to shreds."

"That is if she even can be," the hunter says.

"What's that mean?"

"Just keep my ear to the buzz about town. You hear things sometimes... interesting things...."

When the steam finally clears, the Blacksmith is left on his own, shaking his head and lifting the sword up to examine it. "Gods have mercy on her..." he whispered.

The door on the balcony of Lady Laramay's room sits open, the blue curtains billowing in the light of the full moon. The beams cast by the celestial object show the shadows upon the drapes of the feline figure sitting on the railing. Her tail swishes back and forth, a purr rising up from her chest.

She pads into the room with gentle footsteps, leaving not a sound from her tip-toed step. Her smile widens when she sees the form under the covers, curled up and turned away from the window with long blond hair spilling down the lady's back.

Netty leans in, whispering into the woman's ear through her unnaturally flat face. "Oh, lady Laramay," she coos, climbing onto the bed, squatting before her. "It's time for your reward."

She takes a sharp-nailed hand, runes glowing down her arm, and grabs at the cover over the sleeping woman's shoulder.

"N... now?" whispers the woman in the bed.

"Mmm... hm... "I've got something special for ya... just like you ordered, but first... the gift for me."

The woman under the covers smirks. "Oh yes, your... gift...

Covers fly off of the noblewoman's body, the nightgown-clad lady spinning on her rear and wrapping her legs around the feline thief's torso. She lifts her up, flipping and landing on her chest, sitting on her with a shit-eating grin on her face.

Netty hisses, "treachery! We had a deal!"

"That's what the lady of the house told me," Lady Laramay says, all while her skin shifts, becoming a light blue. "But, she wasn't too keen on giving me all the details," she continues, her hair becoming wild and white. "I was hoping you and I could have a little chat," she adds, her eyes shimmering a golden yellow. "That is unless you'd rather me just take you in for the reward," she says, a long blue tail poking out from behind her.

Another hiss, and Netty pulls her right arm free. It glows in runic power as she swipes at the nightgown. It tears away as if it were made of nothing, dissolving into fine embers.

The shapeshifter lets go and hops off the bed, producing a dagger from her belt and staring down the shadowy cat.

Netty roles back on the other side of the bed, narrowing her eyes, scowling, gripping the mattress. "What did you do to Laramay? Who are you?"

The shifter tosses the knife from one hand to the other, fluttering her eyes. "Name's V, ever heard of me?"

"Oh, fuck off!" Netty says. "The shifter? This is my job!"

"Funny," V says, tapping her cheek. "Because I specifically came here because I was under the impression you were performing heinous acts of larceny to the lordships... but if you have other reasons to be here...."

"I worked hard to get in her pants," Netty says, pointing an accusatory finger.

V runs a hand through her wild mane. "You don't have to worry about her. I had her redirected to another house through a series of impersonations. Yer a sloppy cat if I can find where you're going to strike next."

Netty grumbles.

"Like I said, sloppy, very sloppy. But I gotta say, If I had known she is as much of a slut as she is, I would have had more fun in convincing her to leave."

Netty smirks. "She wasn't... until I got to her last month."

"Oooh, are you trying to brag, kitty cat?" she asks, leaning on the bed herself, sheathing her knife.

"Maybe," Netty says.

"Oh yeah...?" V says her own tail swishing. "Well, this night might just be interesting, after all, kitty cat."

Netty stares at those predatory eyes of the shapeshifter, one ear twitching as the magic pulses through her enchanted and cursed arm. "Yeah!"

V shrugs, one knee upon the mattress, pressing into the bed. "You got a big bounty on your head, and I could rest easy for a long time if I bring ya in or if I make the problem go away forever. No one said anything about having to snuff ya to do it."

Netty chuckles. "Oh, you want me to cut and run? I got a good thing going here. Bored nobles who want fun and pay me with their family's wealth. Why the hell would I give that up, huh?" She sits on the bed, resting a hand on the mattress herself. "Makes no sense."

"Oh, I know. I thought I'd offer you professional courtesy, is all," V says. "After all, there are plenty of other towns and plenty of other people ta bang.

Netty spins around, her foot upon the bed, leg brought up, so her knee is bent. "S'that so? What if I don't wanna bang anyone else? What if I wanna throw down here, send you packin', and then loot the place, just like I planned?" She tilts her head, giving V an almost closed-eye grin as she wraps her arms around her knee.

Veshra and Netty 2

"That could work if you think you got what it takes," V says, running a hand down along her side, finger playing at the hilt of her blade. "It all depends on what your CQC skills are like. Netty's fingers twitch, and her runes glow. V's palm...
