First off, I do not own any chars in Digimon series or any names that involved in the stories because they are not legally mine, except Al. I apologize first hand if there are any spelling or grammar errors because English is my second. All the stories is purely fictional. Any similarities in life is purely coincident. Chapter 43: Basic Training Days - Final, Journey to Survival - 1.

Al trained his best for weeks and finally he can evolve into champion after mastering the gauntlet. All of the Destinies have their share of sparring and Al manages to fight back, even winning the match. Jake, Zane and Derek also intend to test him, they even teaming up to fight against him. Al manages to beat them with lots of injuries and bruises that can make ordinary people fainted because of the unbearable pain.

Jake, Zane, and Derek congratulate him for re-gaining his strength back and manage to endure the injuries to the end. Lopmon and Palmon patched Al up by giving him some leaf balm all over his injuries. Again, the pain is also unbearable that tears coming out from his eyes. Lopmon scowled to Al when patching him up because he always tossed around. Palmon yelled 'Don't be such a cry baby!' to Al. Al look away from them still crying in pain, but endure it. Jake, Zane, and Derek laugh at Al's situation.

The rest of the senior Destinies began to discuss the situation so far. "The Glitches are appeared more often. So far, we have encountered 25 cases in the game and 163 cases in the arena in a month." Ken began the meeting. "I say the Glitches are getting restless."

"You know that we cannot delete the Glitches completely." Yolei replied.

"Technically, we can't absorb the Glitches for it can make us berserk. Furthermore, we are protected from the Glitches. Remember?" Renamon stated.

"That is true. So far, the Glitches gave the newbie some advantages." Gennai spoke. "Such as: rapid recovery, high defense, sight detection, new evolutions, and many more."

"Al manages to use it because Black was there inside him." Henry responded.

"That was when I was still BlackWarGreymon in data form." Black replies. "Now that we are separated and reverted back into a rookie form, I don't know what will happen to him."

"For now, he has grown stronger in at least seven weeks. He even beat most of the rookies." Rika answered. "That includes Derek, Jake and Zane in PC form. Speaking of which, I can tell that those three has adapted with their forms very well."

"Which comes to our next topic, what should we do to prove they are capable to fight?" Monodramon replied.

"Back to my first suggestion?" Impmon answered. Everyone looked at him in less curiosity. "It is a simple survival game where they will fight on their own to survive, while we hunted them down. Of course, there is time limit and goals." Impmon explained.

"You have got my interest." Tai gained some interest from Impmon's explanation.

"All of us will spread out in groups and try to hunt down Al and his friends, as long as they are within the area. The point will be from the cottage to one of the mountains that surrounded this area." Impmon explained to everyone who listening and pinpoint the area.

Everyone looked at the map. The areas are mostly forest and have river path at some area. It is a perfect place for resting up and for ambushing. Upon certain area, there were fruits and herbs for them to use and eat. Last, the mountain itself. The mountain is climbable by foot or hiking. There is no cave for resting so they will force themselves to their limits to reach at the top, unless they can fly.

"I think that will work perfectly. The questions are how many teams should be stationed for the test, how much time and what level should we give them?" Davis commented the plan.

"If I estimate the length of the journey, the fights they will have and times to recover, I say we give him six days. As for the team, we will send seven teams to the field." Codey answered. "From there, we divided into three areas. Two teams will guard the first third from the cottage. Another two will guard at the second third from cottage in champion or armor forms. The last third will be guarded by three teams with full force."

"Full force?" Biyomon asked.

"We can use ultimate or mega form or even DNA evolution. Remember, he is not alone. He is with his friends that can evolve into ultimate and mega. Furthermore, all of them had the ability to change into other Digimons with the same species." Codey answered her question.

"Okay. The plan has been set, but what should we tell them?" Mimi asked them.

"Simple, all we have to say..." Kari explained.

"We have a survival test tomorrow?" Al asked in shocking surprise along with Jake, Derek, and Zane in the room where everyone sleeps.

"That's right." Kari responded. "Consider it as a field test."

"But, this is so sudden." Jake stuttered hearing the word 'test'.

"We know that. That is why we give all of you a simple test with several conditions." Kari replied knowing very well how children reacted when they heard pop quiz. "All of you will be exploring from this cottage to that tallest mountain within six days, beyond that will be consider as a failed. Be careful though because there might be enemies that will stop you or even hunt you down."

"Enemies, I thought this area is secluded." Zane responded.

"Trade secrets." Gatomon smiley replied with a wink.

"Of course, you won't go empty hand. Each of you will be supply with two canisters, a deck of cards, a map, a compass and your own Digivices. You can either go solo or in group, it is your choice." Kari explained further. "Take your time to prepare. After all, it is still going to be a long and hard journey tomorrow. Speaking of cards, here is one from your bag Al. Others will receive when you three consult with Takato, Rika, Henry, Suzie, Juri, or any members from the third generation." Kari gave the deck to Al and left the room.

"Lucky for us, it is the second week of the summer holidays." Derek replies when Kari and Gatomon left the room. "Better get ready, I am sure our teachers can help us prepare the cards we needed. In the mean time, you need to take a rest, Al. Your injuries are too severe when fought against us."

Al smiled at Derek for his concern. "Thank you, Derek. However, do not worry; this body can heal much faster than normal human body. With the help of the balm, I am sure that I will heal by tomorrow."

Al is panting for air feeling quite angry that Kari left some details about their enemies. "Thanks a lot, Mrs. Sunlight. You didn't tell me that we are fighting against all of you." Al grunted. "At least, I know who I am fighting now. It was Biyomon and Renamon."

Al starts to run again after sensing that they are close. "I need to find Zane, Jake, and Derek fast. They don't know what they were up against." Al thought after realizing that he is out skill when he is alone. Al heard a loud call from behind, telling him that they spotted him and starts to attack again. "They spotted me!" Al thought while running. "What do I do, what do I do?" Al thinks hard when he saw the deck at his gauntlet. "Of course, Kari didn't mention anything about fighting without cards." Al draws five cards from the stacked and browses the cards.

There are Knightmon, Renamon, MegaKabuterimon, Myotismon, and Demidevimon. All of the cards have green background, which makes Al more confuse compare to Greymon, GeoGreymon, MetalGreymon and RiseGreymon that has blue background. Al took Knightmon, Myotismon and Renamon by random curiosity and put it at the slot cards. The rest of the drawn cards were return back at the stack and the stack starts to shuffle automatically. After the cards were set, Al starts to increase his pace again to widen the chaser.

Al suddenly gasped in surprise that Renamon is right in front of him ready to attack him. He only has short time to react before receiving a full potential force attack. Al saw that she intends to kick him on the face. Al quickly lunges forward and rolls, dodging and passing beneath Renamon.

Renamon saw it and knew his intentions. She let her leg swing until she turned around 180-degree facing opposite direction. She saw him ready to run again. She quickly reached for his tail when she heard a yell from the bushes near her.

"Double Backhand!" A small dark whirlwind came out from the bushes at her left side. Renamon saw a figure at the center of the whirlwind and quickly dodge away by jumping to the right. The whirlwind stopped right in between Renamon and Al. The whirlwind suddenly stopped and BlackGaomon stood ready to fight. Al was surprised that the one who helped him was Jake, the ShadowWolf, in his new form. "Blast her now!" Jake barked at him that brought him back to reality.

Al complies by looking at Renamon and readies the "Pepper Breaths!" Al unleashed a couple or more fireballs at Renamon. Renamon saw it and suddenly disappear from their sight. They knew that Renamon uses her teleportation ability to dodge Al's technique.

Al and Jake looked around for a bit to see where she will appear. However, Jake only spotted Biyomon instead. He warned Al that Biyomon is floating in the sky and ready to attack. A green flame appeared at the front of her beak. "Spiral Twister!" The green flame turned into spiral green flame and headed toward the dino and the hound. The range and the time of impact were on their side as Al and Jake ready to run away. Biyomon suddenly stop flapping her wings and fall, Renamon appeared replacing her spot with arms crossed. Al was shocked to see her appeared and readied her Diamond Storm. The diamond shards appeared out of thin air and aimed towards Al and Jake. Al quickly slammed the Knightmon card on his gauntlet and prepare for the worst. "Diamond Storm!" The diamonds lunges toward Al and Jake mostly passing the green spiral flame that Biyomon created. By passing the flames, it creates a combination attack that makes the diamond shards turn into flame darts.

Al jump forward and stood in front of Jake. He balled his left claw into a fist and ready to punch. The fist starts to glow and Al began to punch the air. After the fist made, the glow channeled toward the front fist and expanding forming a large shield exactly the same shield the Knightmon carried on their backs. The flame darts make contact with the shield and explode. The smoke can act as a smokescreen to hide Al's next action. He slammed Renamon card and a new power surge into his body. He instantly grabbed Jake and ran away to the mountain. What he saw is completely new to him, because when he looked back at the shield he conjured the shards and smokes were froze at mid air. Al kept on running, maneuvering his way through the forest with Jake on his hand frozen in time.

Al kept on running for miles until he felt they were on the safe distance from Renamon and Biyomon. By the time he stopped running, the time moved the way they are. Jake gasped in surprise when he saw that they were at different place and feeling sick after being drag when the time stops. "Wow, I feel sick on the bottom. What was that?" Jake asked while holding his stomach tries not to vomit.

"I used Knightmon to conjure the shield and Renamon card to teleport." Al answered and looked at his gauntlet. The two cards went missing from the slot. "The cards that I use went straight to the graveyard." Al grunted.

"What is that mean?" Jake asked.

"It means it will stay there until all the cards in the deck are used up or resetting the deck when we are completely safe." Al answered. "And now isn't the safe place yet." Al glared at the direction he ran from.

"You are absolutely right." Renamon responded suddenly appeared from their back. "I don't know how you can run that fast, but I won't lose you again."

Al spontaneously slammed the Myotismon card and replied. "I was hoping the opposite, Renamon. Now you see us, soon you won't. Grisly Wing!" Al swings his claw like batting something away. Instead, he just made bats appeared from thin air and flew toward Renamon.

Renamon caught by surprise attack and she shield herself against a swarming bats. Al saw the chance and removed his armband quickly. "Jake, now!" he yelled telling him to attack.

Jake complied with side step and dash forward. "Gao Rush!" He unleashed several rushing jab into Renamon's stomach making her immobilize for a while. Al took the chances and pushed her down with stomach on the ground. He grabbed her arms and tied them on her back. Jake quickly help Al pinned her down. Al don't want to take any more risks and he quickly tied her legs as well. By that, Renamon stop struggling to free.

Al and Jake were panting heavily feeling relief that the danger is over. "Sorry, Renamon. I can't take any more risk, so I have to tie you down until the test is over." Al explained.

"At least tell me how can you run that fast or summoning the shield or bats?" Renamon asked in defeat.

"I used the cards from Ms. Rika and suddenly it came into my mind and I can use it only once, when the card is available." Al explained showing his gauntlet to her. "Bats from Myotismon; Shield from Knightmon; and teleportation is from you."

Renamon bow down her head in defeat. "I see. You have defeated me fair and square, although I admit that I won't accept these."

"Again I am sorry. It is for the sake of me and the team." Al responded. A moment later, they heard an explosion nearby, followed up with screaming girl and cold wind. Al realized that the scream belongs to Biyomon and he didn't see either Zane or Derek since they were separated when entering the forest. "Oh no, Biyomon. Jake, let's go. We must find Zane and Derek."

Jake nodded and quickly stood up and followed Al to the direction where they heard the scream. They run maneuvering their way until they reach to a fallen tree and saw that Derek and Zane panting hard and beneath the fallen tree is Biyomon partially covered in ice crystal, stuck and unconscious. Zane saw them coming and waved at them. "Hey, where have you guys been?"

"We were a little side track with Renamon." Jake answered after approaching them. Zane and Derek quickly stood guard when they heard Renamon is also here to hunt. "Relax, guys. She is defeated as well." Both of them relax again. "Although, she is awake." Again they tensed up. "But we tied her down for safe keeping." Again they relaxing up. Jake saw it and try to find a devious idea to tease them. "But she is still squirming to escape." They tensed up again.

"Will you quit it, Jake. You gave them a heart attack." Al yelled at him and Jake gave him a sinister laugh. "Sorry guys, what he said are true. She won't bother us because she was tied up with my armband. What happened to Biyomon?"

"We manage to surprise her and gave her a blast of a life time." Zane answered. "It looks like she is out cold." Derek gave him a small laughter, followed by Jake and then Al.

After having a small, enjoyable laugh, they felt that their energies have restored. Even Al has the time to reset his deck. "Are you guys ready to go?" Al asked. "We need to go there within five days and we can't do this alone. We should work each other to reach our point at least that is what I learned when fighting against Renamon."

Jake, Zane and Derek nodded in full of determination and followed Al wherever he goes. As long as they don't get lost in the woods that is.....
