One Memorable Journey Pg.6
#6 of One Memorable Journey
"This has been the shortest mission I have ever done..." Jackie stated as the ship entered warp, everyone else quietly agreeing. Before now the shortest mission any of them ever went on was two and a half hours, this mission being just a single hour from landing to take off. Everyone stayed silent even after the ship exited warp, the shuttle entering the atmosphere and heading towards the base they came from. The pilot followed landing protocol and landed on a designated landing pad, opening the bay doors as everyone in the bay was already getting ready to get off.
As they were getting everything off the shuttle a group of four soldiers came up to to them. "Ms. Silver, Mr. Fellore. General Kallen wants to speak to you. He's waiting in his office now.." the four soldiers then went to help unload and such.
"I think I will never understand why you don't go with that. You'd probably stand a slightly better chance of people liking you if you just went with Jackson Fellore." Alex remarked as her and Jackie started on their way to see the general, sharing remarks and a few other things along the way. They both went quiet as they reached the General's office, knocking on the door and requesting permission to enter.
"Permission granted." The general replied before they entered, closing the door behind them. "Alex, Jackie... I'd like to know why not even two hours after you start the mission you're already back here." The anger the general felt right now was evident in his voice, neither Alex or Jackie wanting to get him angrier by wasting time. They recounted what happened in the short time as accurately as possible, letting the general know of the armor suit and dead pilot they brought back. The man sat back in his chair and let out a sigh. "I see... not just armored infantry but fully mechanized infantry. That is a whole different situation indeed. You said that heavy projectiles were deflected by the transport's shield when taking off. If someone can mobilize reaper suits that fast then it is definitely a threat..." He tapped a finger on his desk while he thought for a moment, going to speak before being interrupted by the getting opened suddenly. "Have you ever heard of knocking soldier!?"
"Sorry sir! I believe you need to see this though!" the soldier replied before being motioned to lead them to what the problem was. The soldier led them right back to the hangar bay where a couple technicians had opened up the armor, still sitting by the M7 Falcon shuttle.
"So much for a need-to-know basis. This whole thing went to hell." The general muttered as he saw more than a few soldiers gathering. When they got to the armor and the pilot laying beside it the general stopped dead in his tracks, a look of bewilderment and pure confusion on his face. The pilot was nothing like they'd seen before, no tail or snout, no scales or even any fur. The body had tan skin with black hair only on the head, wearing black jumpsuit over most of its body. from what they could see it looked like a male but they had no idea what race it was.
"Pardon me but what the fuck is this?" Alex and Jackie asked in accidental unison, glaring at each other for a moment before returning their attention elsewhere.
