Part XVIII: Assembled

I did it! I managed to find all three Gauldur amulet fragments! That last one was difficult. The draugur bastard teleported around the room and made illusionary copies of himself. When this is over, I'm going back to the college to learn that technique. It would be super helpful as an archer.

The moment I gathered all three pieces, something happened. I saw visions of a cave hidden deep in a series of hills. It had to be where I should be going next.

Khash said I was acting weird, but what does she know?

We rode straight for Markarth with no breaks. I couldn't explain it, but I needed to finish this. The amulet. It begged to become whole again.

I found the cave easily enough. There was another adventurer inside, but he was already gone. I had no clue what got to him but he left the key to the front door unguarded. I already had the ivory claw from the other guy so getting through the set of doors blocking it was easy.

The amulet pieces vibrated the further we descended.

The Gauldur brothers were waiting for me. I shouldn't have been surprised but after killing their corpses, I didn't expect them to come back.

Too bad for them I knew their tricks and was prepared this time. They didn't put up much of a fight.

They had geared up for a third-round when another spirit intervened. I think it was their father. I couldn't tell. Didn't know the guy. Didn't care either.

After banishing the ghosts, the mage restored the amulet to its full power, almost as if rewarding me. Strangely enough, I felt a sense of calm wash over me when I slipped it on. Maybe the spirit was glad the amulet had been repaired and his death avenged.

Either way, I got what I wanted. And it was time to get back on the road.
