I wonder what could be the problem? clearly it wasn't the darkheart nieces.
So when the Guardians of magic were minding their own business doing some schoolwork there was an alert broadcasted that the Darkheart sisters were causing trouble downtown, and officially this was the team's first mission. "Hey everyone, we need to get downtown as soon as possible because of a magic related problem" Brian had said, a bit nervous. Finn has put a hand on his shoulder "Hey you all heard the man let's move!" Brian had smiled a bit as Felix casted a teleportation spell circle to the source of the problem. It was the three Darkheart sisters nieces of King Darkheart manipulating people by using their own negative emotions to have someone's shadow attack them. Brian pulling his hair back readed his weapons as the rest of his team did the same as Felix created a white orb to float in. "Guardians do your thing!" The team somewhat sloppily had taken down the Darkheart sisters one by one using some combination moves but it was working before Brian was hit with a powerful darkness spell to the head knocking him backwards looking like a shadow fading into his body like a ghost. Felix had used his powers to restrain the triplets before the King of shadows appeared with the King of Light as well to the ending of the conflict. Akira had helped the Guardians to their feet as Kage was lecturing his nieces pretty hard over abusing magic and stealing a shadow powered crystal from the castle. Eva had also shown up to the conflict as Brian was holding his head from the attack from before. "Hey you doing okay?" Eva Asked Brian "Yeah I am... got hit with a weird attack but I think I'll be fine" he sort of slumped onto her before pulling himself up. What brian did not know is that the attack did more to him than expected, and it wasn't visible.
