* ~~Chapter 2 : Butterflies and Reality~~ *
The bright three moons of Nosadamnia rose and blossomed as it shone light in the darkest parts of the city.
The fumes from the tops of the cylinders dropped down the slums, the shaggy run down houses contained those who
were less fortunate to be able to move up from the area they inhabited before the infection came, several slum citizens started vanishing
day to day, one of them vanished. Inside a rundown shack, lived a kitten with his mom, a white tiger, and his dad, a full bred wolf, and his older brother
who was a full wolf, they all were sitting around the only light source in the house, a small lamp, it provided no warmth, but just light, they huddled up
next to each other, cuddling one another, to give warmth, the parents were ill, and so were the kids, the kitten on the other hand, was more sick, he was coughing out blood for the past week
they couldn't get any medical attention due to high demands of papers and such. It was just another typical night for the family of four, they had dinner, they prayed
they cuddled each other, and they slept. Another night of enduring the sleepless cold.
The little feline smiled as he dreamnt about what he wanted, inside his head, there were vast areas of green grass, that covered all the way where he could see, the air was clean as well as the flowers were blossoming, he smiled and giggled as he hugged his brother and parents, they were all sitting down against the soft blades of grass, eating sandwhiches, enjoying the view and climate, birds and bees as well as butterflies were flying around the field, doing their own business in making the world a better place. Soon there were other animals that were coming from everywhere, grazing on the grass, he smiled and started running on the glade, enjoying the breeze brushing against the feline's facial fur, his ice blue eyes full of happiness and laughter, but soon, they ended, the sky darkened and shots were heard, he looked back, and saw his family, on the ground dead, more shots were heard and he was knocked back into reality.
Knocking and pounding sounds were heard on the door in the darkness of the night, their dad decided on answering it, but before he could, the door was brought down, and the kits were taken forcefully from each other, their cries were loud, and their parents trying to fight them back, the kitten started crying, reaching out for both his parents and his brother, the older brother was doing the same as they were both taken away from the shack, before they could even see the moon, two shots were heard, a squeak and howl sounded through the night, and the stench of blood littered the polluted air. They were thrown into seperate cages, their whimpers quiet and their resistance is little. Th0e doors close and soon darkness roamed the kit's sight.
A few hours later......
A cell was opened, the creaking sound echoed to the feline's ears, forcing him to cover his ears, before he could react, he was collared, then dragged on the floor, each time he resisted, he screamed and squirmed from the shocks of electricity running through the collar, his eyes couldn't adjust very well to the area's lightning, but all he could hear was loud tapping and tiles, scraping against his fur, slowly he was lifted and slammed against the table, he screamed and protested to be let go, he cried for his mom and dad, he cried for his brother, but they didn't hear him, he was forced back down on the table, shackled and unable to move, a beam of light suddenly shone down on the feline as it grew in intensity. He started screaming and crying, feeling the sudden sharpness of something running down his body, he was then gagged by a ball, and blood started filling his vision.
"Hey~!" a voice weakly echoed
"Hey! Wake up!" the voice repeated, shaking the feline who was squirming, tossing and turning on the couch, "Wake up"
The feline sat up quickly, panting, his fur wet with cold sweat, 'A dream...it was all a dream...' he whispered to himself. He was wrapped in a blanket that provided an additional warmth around his body. Bright blue eyes roamed the area as he twitched his nose and looked around this strange new place. 'Where am I?' he thought to himself as he noticed the strange yet famillar scent as it reached his nostrils. 'Milk?' he asked himself, before he could get up and explore, a blurry figure came into the room with a glass of white liquid and a plate of meat and veggies.
"You're awake." the figure said in a calm, caring voice as it laid the plate and glass on the table infront of the waking tiger. He only nodded and noticed that the plate was filled with meat and some home grown vegetables, typical healthy food. "Here...." he said as he poised himself sitting near him, holding a carrot near his mouth. His eyes focusing onto the carrot, he noticed and glared at the figure's hand, furless, no claws but nails, he looked straight at the figure as his eyes continued focusing and adjusting to the dim lighting of the room he was in. Short hair, brown eyes and a well-built figure. Tilting his head upright, he took the carrot and nodded a bit at the strange creature before him, "Can you understand what i'm saying?" the male asked clearly, the tiger only responded by nodding and taking the carrot gently into his paw and nibbled on it as he was still curious, yet alert in this strange new place that he woke up in. "Oh? What's your name then?" he asked once more, offering the feline a carrot stick again. "Rh...Rhu." the feline replied, then a tray dropped down onto the floor, spilling some cookies onto the floor, "Shit! that thing talks!" the other male remarked as he pointed at the white tiger on the sofa, covered in a blanket. The sudden crash made the cat panic and scurry backwards only to fall down onto the floor and scurry under the couch hiding. "Great!" the other male said as he stood up, "You scared him Steve" he remarked as he looked under the couch, looking at the shaking cat, "Come now...we wont hurt you." he said as he reached his hand under the couch. "I didnt Clyde! I swear, it just surprised me!" the other said in protest as he picked up the cookies, "Hey, don't do that Steve, have you seen the claws and teeth on that thing?" he remarked. "Dont you worry, I'll be careful." he said to the other human as he reached the cat, the feline held out his paw and touched the other's hand, slowly the man hoisted the feline out from under the couch and back towards the couch to rest, "You should rest, you're still hurt." Steve said after introducing himself to the feline. He only nodded in response to what the male said to him, his vision started to adjust to the dimming atmosphere as he continued to slowly come out from under the couch.
He sat back onto the couch, with his knees near his chest as he hugged them, the two other humans in the room, were standing infront of him, with a look of curiosity and nervousness, one of them raised his hand to speak, but he let it back down, seeing that he had already offended the feline. "Where are you from?" he asked the feline once more, "Nosadamnia" he whispered to him, "Well I dont know a place named Nosadamnia, but maybe we can find it on the internet" he replied to him smiling. The feline just nodded in agreement, with no idea of what the human was talking about. After a few moments waiting as he ate the cookies and carrots, he drank the milk, visibly enjoying it's taste, "Th...thank you for the meal." he whispered clapping his paws together in a meaningful manner, "Its not a poblem" Steve said as he moved towards the tiger's table and cleaned up his dinnerware, while the human was still washing the dinnerware, the feline just laid there on the couch, wanting to know where he was or what time it was, he was worried about the disk that he started to shiver and shudder from under the blankets until a hefty hand held his shoulder, "Don't worry, you'll be fine." Steve said as he moved his hand to pet the tiger's head. The feline only nodded as he was given a chance to relax and feel safe from this new environment that was so alien to him, but to the other creatures in the room, he was the alien.
After a few hours of being together with the two other males, the kid was purring through his maw, he was reading a book, and the two others were already working on the computer, one was working on his project in building a motherboard for a computer and the other was busy with researching where the feline they found came from. "Well kiddo" Steve said in a disappointing tone, "I'm sorry but, there's no such place on earth that's named Nosadamnia" he added as he placed a tray of cookies onto the table. "But there is such a place" Rhu replied with a debating tone, but then he calmed down and sat back down, "Don't worry dear, we'll find it on the internet" he said to the feline as he ruffled his hair, getting a purr and giggle from the feline.
Moments after the purr and giggle, the feline's ears twitched and perked up, looking behind him, then a series of crashes and a single growl came from down and across the hall. "What was that?!" Steve shouted as he took his baseball bat which was poised near the computer, while the feline's ears fell back and his eyes squinted, "Something bad." he whispered and stood up, the two humans behind him, trying to be brave and defensive.
