Well here it is, Chapter one has finally landed! I would like to thank DarkAwry, who you could call my editor, for taking the time to read over this and give me some pointers (the guy was on vacation and he still helped, what a guy!), Furcenary, for helping me to name and shape one of my characters, Roman, and FoxyNekoCat, who's friendship is getting me through some of the harder moments in my life, thanks for being there wiger :)

(All characters belong to Kasawolf, unless stated before the chapter. If you wish to use any of my characters, feel free to approach me I'm an open and friendly wolfy :D )

The piercing sound of the alarm clock broke the gentle silence of the early spring morning, rousing the male human from his slumber. He tapped the switch, then slapped it, then brought his fist down on it, before silencing it by throwing it against the wall.

"Fuck..." The human muttered, hoping his brother hadn't heard that.

"You're paying for that" a voice emanated from the hallway.

"FUCK!"

In the doorway stood a tall black wolf, roughly 6ft 5 in stature. His body was toned and well defined, a look of someone who clearly had put in hours at the gym. His eyes were a sharp blue, and shined with intelligence well beyond his relatively young years.

"Seriously, for a pinkie you aint half got a temper on you..." he spoke as he pulled a white t-shirt over his toned chest. "Once you've cleaned that up, were going into town, we got work to do" "

"The name's Kyle!" he shouted back as the wolf left.

He grabbed a bag and cleaned up the alarm clock sighing to himself. "5th one this month, that's gotta be a record....." he muttered shoving the bag into a waste bin, noting to clean it out later. "Perhaps if he or the rest of the bastards round here stopped treating me like a runt, I wouldn't be so angry all the time..."

He stopped quickly to check himself over in the mirror, pulling on some clothes casually. Kyle was a human, roughly 6ft in size. He wasn't very well built like his brother but he kept himself in reasonable shape, well so he thought anyway. He had very dark brown hair, which was unkempt and regularly hanged down over his emerald green eyes, much to his annoyance. It wasn't that he did not try to keep it groomed; he just had limited resources in which to keep it from attempting to conquer his face. He mused a while ago about going to a barber to get it cut, but laughed as he remembers that this town doesn't have a barber.

Kyle was the only human in a town entirely populated by anthomorphic animals, of furries for short. Because of this, there were no real amenities for a human. When he was younger, he asked his older brother why there were no other humans in the village.

"Because you humans, are rarer then a vegan werewolf" He answered back coldly.

"Why are we rare Carbon?" he asked innocently.

"Because you got in the way of someone who shouldn't be mentioned, now shut it" He snapped, growling at the frightened child

Kyle quickly snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the door open. "C'mon pinkie, we haven't got all day" Carbon growled as Kyle stumbled down the stairs, pulling his jacket on.

"Yeah, okay whatever" he grunted back slipping past the wolf into the front yard. The pair walked down the country pathway towards the rural town of Nohan.

"Okay pinkie, when we get to town you know the drill, if we work through lunch we should get that hut built by evening"

"Oh CMON! You've made me work through lunch twice this week, I do actually need to eat too you know!" Kyle moaned.

The wolf growled and lifted him by the scruff "You listen to me, when I took this job, I promised we would have it done by tonight, hell ill have you work into the night if it gets the job done, do you understand me pinkie?" Kyle struggled against the wolves grip, but saw that arguing was useless in this situation.

"Fine....."

The wolf chuckled and dropped Kyle, leaving him crumpled in the dirt "C'mon, it aint that bad, tell you what if you finish before dinner time, we can go to the cow bell, ill even buy you a drink" Kyle's eyes lit up briefly, before narrowing suspiciously, Carbon had never brought him a drink before.

"Ok, cut the act why would you buy me a drink, you barely buy me any food as it is" The wolf smirked "Cant a wolf buy his little brother a drink for working so hard?" Kyle stared at him for a moment before shrugging "whatever" and followed him into town.

Nohan was your typical rural town. The centre of town was occupied by market stalls filled with fresh produce that the stall owners were trying to sell, yelling loudly to attract attention to their wares. The local inn, The Cow Bell" stood in the centre of the town, and was a focus point for everything in town, attracting people with its cheap ale and modest rooms from miles around.

The houses surrounding the area housed most of the furs, with others such as Kyle and Carbon lived outside of town. In a way, Kyle was glad he lived outside of town, as that way he did not have to deal with the jibes and insults thrown at him on a daily basis.

"Hey Carbon, still dragging around that pinkie shit I see* Came a gruff voice from behind him and Kyle sighed, sucking in a deep breath as he turned round to face the voice. A short stout pig walked towards Carbon and laughed "Your an odd one Carbon, most would have left him out on the streets to die"

Kyle clenched his fist and gritted his teeth "Nice to see you too, Hog"

The pig snorted "Don't talk to me scum, you are beneath me" He turned to Carbon "Learn to control your pet or else wolf" He muttered before pushing past them towards the Cow Bell.

Carbon tapped Kyle's shoulder and chuckled "C'mon Pinkie, you can seethe later, we got work to do"

The day's work was gruelling; they were building a new hut for one of Carbons friends. Kyle did not bother asking what his friend wanted the hut for, knowing Carbons choice in friends; it was most likely for taking airheaded bimbos to deflower without having his so called "mate" finding out. Kyle scoffed as he thought of this, why bother having a mate if you're just going around shagging anything with a pulse.

Carbon grunted as he fixed the roof to the hut and stood back admiring the work. "Humph, not bad work pinkie, finished right on time for those drinks don't you think?"

Kyle again eyed the wolf with suspicion but this was being overruled by his thirst at not having had a drink all day "Yeah, sure" He grunted.

As they trekked back into town Kyle thought about Carbon's sudden mood change towards him. *what is he up to?* He thought as the two entered the Inn.

Carbon walked up to the bar and greeted the landlord. "Two pints of your best ale* the wolf spoke, as the landlord began pulling the pints.

He turned to Kyle. "Right, you sit here and keep your mouth shut, watch a master at work". Kyle looked at him quizzically before looking round the inn and groaning. The inn was full of female furs of several species; Wolf, Fox, Rabbit you name it. Now Kyle knew why Carbon was acting so nice, the bastard was trying to score again. He slowly sipped his ale as he remember the last time Carbon had brought someone home, for the next few days Kyle wasn't Carbon's brother, but an *Exotic Pet* as Carbon called it, trying to impress the dumb bitch.

Kyle looked around the room at the furs in the inn. He recognized most of them, villagers popping in for a quick pint, or the usual drunks slowly drinking themselves into a stupor as they did every night. Some other furs looked out of place to him, travellers he mused probably staying the night on their way to the larger settlements in the county.

Kyle had for a long time dreamed of leaving Nohan, leaving behind the racist bigots for somewhere new, somewhere where he would be welcomed regardless of being a human, an oddity, somewhere where he could settle down and be happy, maybe even find someone special who would love him for who he was, not his species.....

While Kyle mused to himself, two cloaked figures entered the Inn and looked around. They strolled carefully to the bar trying not to draw attention to themselves in anyway and spoke to the Landlord. *A pint of Ale and a fruit cocktail please barkeep* came a soft feminine voice from beneath the cloak.

The landlord looked at her and grunted. "We only serve Ale and soft drinks here, none of that fancy pansy crap"

She sighed and muttered "Typical backwater yokel" to herself. "Fine, two pints of ale sir" As the landlord began to pull the pints; the smaller figure lowered the hood of her cloak. Below the hood was a female wolf. She was achingly beautiful; her fur was a crisp auburn colour and was kept well groomed.

She smiled and nodded her thanks as she took the two pints and handed one to her companion. A large hand took the pint from her and nodded silently, taking a swig from the pint as he surveyed the room. The large figure noticed the human and tapped the shoulder of the wolf. She turned and stared at the human and smiled. "That him?" she whispered and the large figured nodded.

Kyle was nursing the remains of his pint when he noticed a brown wolf approach him. He sighed and turned his head to her knowing full well what she was going to say. *How many times have I done this...* he thought as the female took up the seat next to him. "Ok, before you start, yes I'm a human, no I'm not contagious, and yes, I am aware that I'm an oddity".

The female laughed at the human and studied him briefly *Hmm, kind of cute in an odd way, lil podgy but still, cute* She smiled at the human "Got that rehearsed I'm guessing?* Kyle stared at her stunned, usually a female would remark how odd he was, laugh at him and walk off. "So, gonna tell me your name sweetie? Or you gonna catch some flies in that mouth?" Kyle spluttered at quickly closed his mouth, realising he just sat there with his mouth open looking like a moron.

"Erm...k..Kyle* He stammered and the wolfess took his hand and shook it.

"Hello Kyle, my name is Ruby, and this is my friend Roman"

The larger figure grunted and nodded curtly. "So tell me cutey, what's a human like you doing in a backwater town like this?"

Kyle's face went bright red; did she just call him cute? He quickly shook the thought from his mind. "I live here with my brother, that's him chatting up the rabbit" Right on cue, Carbon reeled as the rabbit slapped him hard across the face and she stormed out. Carbon walked back to the bar and grunted rubbing his cheek where she had slapped him.

"Fuck, all I did was ask her if she would let me explore her burrow...." He looked up and saw the female wolf smirking at him. Suddenly he strode up pushing in front of Kyle knocking him over. "Well hello there, names Carbon, what can I call you babe?" He smiled casually flexing a muscle.

She growled at him "Back off, if you still want to be attached to a certain muscle" she spat. Carbons smile fractured and he scowled.

"Fucking hell, what crawled in you and died....* he spat back. She raised her fist to knock him into next week when a loud crash was heard from behind them.

The pair turned to find Kyle pinned against the wall by the pig from earlier. "How fucking dare you spill my drink you little shit!" He slammed his fist into Kyle's stomach causing him to yell in pain. The pig's two accomplices held the human up as he layed into him, blows raining down on him.

Immediately Ruby sprang up, pushing past Carbon. "Hey, get your fucking hands off him pig!" she yelled, landing a blow on the back on the pigs head. He stumbled and turned round; furious at whoever was interrupting his fun. He yelled to his accomplices

"Don't just stand there, get that fucking bitch!" Ruby immediately took up a defensive stance as the two hulking thugs approached her, a pair of well built lions. The first swung at her and she ducked, rolling between the males legs before kicking up landing a blow straight into his pride. He roared in pain and dropped to the floor.

Seeing this, she swung her fist back to finish him when the other male grabbed her, holding her in a headlock. "Stupid bitch, it's a shame boss wants us to beat you up, id could think of much funner things to do with that body of yours" he grunted, brushing his hand against her backside.

"Grow a pair!* she spat back, causing the lion to increase his grip on her head.

Out of nowhere, a black furred fist slammed into the lions face, causing him to roar in pain, and lessen his grip on her. She took this opportunity, and slipped her head out from his grasp, swinging round to dispatch the other lion with a cool roundhouse kick to the face. She looked up to see Carbon standing over the unconscious body of the lion that held her.

"Not bad, where you learn to fight like that?"

"None of your business". She grunted, her teeth bared

"Both of you take one more step, and ill slit this lil fucker's neck"

The two turned to see the pig holding a badly beaten Kyle with a knife pressed against his throat. "Nobody fucking embarrasses me, I'll make you both pay for this, but first I think we should see how much this little bitch bleeds"

He snarled pressing the knife deeper into Kyle's throat.

"STOP!" Ruby yelled "We beat up your friends, he's innocent in this!" The pig laughed cruelly at her.

"I've been waiting years for an opportunity to kill this little fucker, his kind is an abomination on this planet, no wonder she wiped them all out!"

Carbon growled "Put the knife down Hog, or else" Hog scoffed "Or what dog? You seem to forget who's in control of the situation here!"

"I believe that may be me"

The pig turned when a hand grasped around the pig's throat, pulling him away from the human and throwing him against the Inn wall" Kyle slouched into the robed figures arms as he faded in and out of consciousness. He looked up into the hood of the figure holding him and the last thing he was before he passed out was a pair of slightly glowing, hauntingly beautiful eyes.

The robed figured looked up at the two relived wolves and spoke. "Ruby, I think its best we get out of here before we attract any more attention.

She nodded "Agreed, You, whatever your name was, where do you and your brother live?"

Carbon stared at her, and let out a grunt. "In a place on the outskirts of town, but I think we should get pinkie to a doc..." He was cut off as Ruby smacked him full pelt in the face.

"His name is Kyle! And you are taking us to your home now MOVE!" Carbon moaned and growled at her, before slowly moving towards the door. "Fine, follow me...."
