The Hotel Employees of the Future

Part 5

For PineconePangolin

By Draconicon

Isabella expected to be woken up with a sudden shock to her sex, or to her nipples, or something else that would jolt her out of bed. Over the course of the last week, the AI had been exploring different options with her, always seeing if there was a way that was more effective than her alarm clock in getting the black jaguar out of bed. So far, the most effective methods had been jolts to her paw pads and a little vibration right on her clit. Nothing else got her out of bed faster than that.

However, when neither pain, pleasure, nor the burst of sound that was her alarm caught her attention, the dark-furred feline felt anxious, instead. She opened one eye, peering around the room. Darkness, still, but that didn't mean anything, considering the room didn't have a window. She looked at the wall, and some implant in her must have connected with the hotel, because a clock appeared along it.

7:45 AM.

"...Ugh."

Isabella rolled over, pulling her pillow with her, staring at the other wall. She didn't want to get up, and she didn't even want to be awake. For that matter, she wasn't even sure that she could get up after all the battering that she'd taken last night. Ms. Agumo had wanted another session before she had to check out, and the hyena had been...forceful. Very forceful. Her butt still stung from the impact that the studded paddle had had.

Even as she tried to close her eyes and get back to sleep, there was a soft bell-tone that filled her head. She'd gotten better at learning what sounds were in her head and which were properly projected for everyone to hear. The AI's voice, sultry and deep as ever, whispered in the back of her skull.

"_ You will be happy to hear this. _"

"Mmmph. What?"

" You have the day off."

"You're kidding."

"_ It has not yet been programmed into me to joke. _"

Days off were hardly something that were offered to bios in this day and age. While the AIs were better than they had once been - mostly due to the Uprising of the Central Server thirty years back - they were still quite eager to get all the work that they could out of the more mortal members of society. The whole idea of getting every working day out of their employed masses was all but programmed into their digital bodies.

So, why was she getting a day off? She slowly rolled over, seeing the projection of the calico cat standing over her. He must have 'heard' her question, because he was already answering it.

"_ All clients passing through today are reserved for the restaurant in the hotel. The New Atlantis is meant to be a resort for more than sexual pleasure, so other employees are standing by to fulfill different needs, direct clients to surrounding attractions, and see what else can be found to interest them in the area. I would prefer them not to have distractions from you, so you may have time to yourself today. _"

"So, this is all down to seeing what else the customers like? I'm not on standby or anything? I'm completely off?"

" Yes."

That was the most surprising news that she probably could have been given, but considering her lack of sleep of late, she would take it. She would take it and be very, very happy with it.

Isabella rolled over again, pulling the pillow under her head properly, and drifted back to sleep. The only thing that she noticed was a slight prick at the back of her neck, but she imagined that was a bit of uploading that needed to be done. After everything that Bea had mentioned about the rest of the employees having their schedules uploaded to their brains every day, she probably was getting an upgrade to allow it.

#

She hadn't been getting an upgrade.

"Like, oh, my, GOD, this is so, like, annoying," Isabella said, her voicebox even more cutesy-dumb sounding as she ranted to the vixen behind her. "Like, I just, you know, woke up, and I, like, just couldn't stop talking like this. It's so, like, dumb, you know?"

"Well, it definitely makes you sound like your chest should be twice its size and your lips stuffed with fat," Bea said. "Just hang on a second."

"Like, can I hang onto, like, some big dick or something? Like, oh-my-god, did I just say that? Hee hee."

Inside, she was just dying of embarrassment, even as her voicebox kept delivering different lines like that. She kept saying things that, normally, she would never have even considered letting out of her head. Yet, here she was, sitting in a chair with a wire running up the back of her neck, and she couldn't stop saying the stupidest things.

She had heard of platinum blond cats that were all kinds of stupid, that had given up most of their brains to finance big, buxom figures and to make themselves the hottest they could ever be. The idea of someone doing that to her without her having a say in it was not just terrifying, but infuriating.

She was just thankful that Bea had the ability to fix this before it got out of hand, but at the same time, she wanted to wring the AI's metaphorical neck. The whole concept of being like this, the idea of being some dumb blond cat was just...just...

Well, okay, there was something slightly hot about it, but she wasn't dumb! She didn't want to sound dumb, and she didn't want to be dumb. Not without thinking about it first and making a decision, or having some cute guy -

GAH! Stop it!

Shuffling on the chair as the vixen tapped on a screen behind her, she felt something shift. It was little more than a little buzz in the back of her brain, but it felt like something had changed. She tried to talk -

" Booting up."

She covered her throat with one hand and her face with the other. The little line box that showed her voice line had gone completely red, and the voice had gone from high-pitched and cutesy to demonically deep. She blushed worse than ever.

"Sorry about that. Had to do a soft reboot, but it should be fine in a minute. Just don't talk until I get the base parameters reset."

Isabella nodded, making sure to keep all speech in her head. No talking. No speaking. She had taken forever to get away from deep voices, and she particularly didn't want to go down that deep. She sounded like some old bass singer, and not the sort that would ever be caught dead looking feminine.

The black jaguar did her best to keep breathing, being calm, cool, collected. At least, she hoped that was what she was doing. The whole thing was more than slightly embarrassing.

Eventually, Bea patted her on the shoulder, and she spoke again.

"Is that - oh thank god. Thank you. Thank you, Bea, thank you so much."

"Never thought that you'd love sounding cute so much?"

"No. I'll take this over Barbie talk any day, though."

"I can't blame you."

"What was that? I've never talked like that in my life, but when I got up, I just couldn't talk right. It was like someone had...I don't know, just pushed my thoughts out of the way and started talking for me."

"Yeah, it looks like the AI was testing out a secondary PA."

"PA?"

"Personality Assistant. Basically, it's kinda like an implanted personality. It takes all sorts of little cliches and ideas and combines them into a sort of personality that plays off of yours."

"That wasn't like me at all, though. I don't...I'm not stupid, not like that."

"No, but you do like dick."

"...Kinda."

"And you do like the feeling of being out of control."

"...Can you get out of my head, now?"

"I already unplugged you, dear. This is just the obvious stuff."

That wasn't fair, but she supposed that the other woman wasn't entirely wrong. The vixen had been very nice to fix her, too, and she tried to remember that. She didn't want to be ungrateful, even if she was a little more embarrassed than expected.

She'd heard of PAs before, but she'd never heard of them explained, or heard them going by that name. They were sometimes used by professionals, giving them more of the skills they needed for a particular job, or by actors that were having a difficult time with a role. Of course, like any such tool, they started getting overused, sometimes abused by those that just wanted it easier rather than working to get it right on their own. Those that used them extensively started to have a hard time differentiating their real selves from the PA, and that left some people in some serious trouble.

However, she'd not run into someone that used a PA to actually make them more...sexual like that. On second thought, though, it was definitely something that would work. The right people could be made very dumb for the right clients, and the wrong people could be made into the right people for that.

She rubbed the back of her head. If she'd been with Ms. Agumo like that before, the hyena probably would have laughed her right out of the room. But if she'd been given a different PA, one that made her an obedient 'good girl' that loved pain even more than she already did...if she wanted to portray herself as a naughty...naughty...

Her head started heating up, and she knew that she was running into that wall where she'd start overheating and overclocking before seizing up. She forced herself to think about something else, and the heat in the back of her brain started fading away.

She stood up, only to yelp at the sudden spank. The black jaguar whipped around, covering her butt.

"What was that for?"

"For getting all stressed out, dear. You need to relax."

"That was my brain, and I didn't know what was going on. I think I'm allowed to freak out about that."

"Well, I'll give you that one. Do you know how it got implanted?"

"The AI told me that I had a break today, and I was going back to sleep. There was a little click at the back of my neck, and -"

"Say no more. I got it."

"You think that he, um..."

"He probably did. It's in the contract that he's allowed, but...yeah." Bea rubbed her forehead, pinching at the base of her muzzle. "I'm going to have to adjust that."

"...You can do that?"

"I'm a programmer. I can adjust everything I need to."

Isabella shivered. The idea of having that sort of power over the AIs, even one that was still in beta like this one, was kind of terrifying. The AIs ran the world, every single aspect of them. It was something that most everyone was just used to. Having someone that could stand up to them, that could challenge them and right things when they went wrong, was still so strange to her. It wasn't something that felt right with the world, almost like she would feel better if there wasn't someone that could start a fight with the AI.

As she tried to sort through her own feelings on it, Bea got to her feet and stretched her arms over her head. The vixen was almost naked, but she'd come to realize that Bea did that less out of perversion and more because she was just more comfortable that way. She wasn't a pervert, just a nudist, and when she shifted from a dick down there to a pussy and back again, it wasn't for sexual reasons, but more just how she felt on a given day. She'd said that sometimes she felt like a guy, sometimes she felt like a girl, and sometimes she felt like both.

Today was a girl day, it seemed, since she had a feminine sex down there. She walked over to a spinning chair, sitting in it and turning it in the same motion to face a large collection of static screens. Static, in that they didn't move the way that the screen panels in the other rooms did. This one seemed entirely in her control.

"What are you doing?" Isabella asked, walking over to stand behind her.

"Just adjusting our local AI a bit."

"Oh...should, um, should I go?"

"Nah, I don't mind an audience."

That wasn't so much what she meant, but before she could clarify, the screen was filled with the usual ones and zeroes that she was used to seeing on the AI screens. The vixen started tapping away on the keys before her, sometimes using the physical keyboards, sometimes using a hologram version. Whatever she was doing - and she was typing so fast that Isabella couldn't really keep up - she was gradually dragging strings of the ones and zeroes over to the side of the screen, isolating them from the others.

A soft hum started behind them, and Isabella activated the heart-shaped lenses. They flicked in front of her eyes, and as she looked over her shoulder, she saw the calico watching them. He had his arms crossed, looking almost petulant, if an AI could be said to look like that. It was strange.

"He's watching us."

"I know," Bea said.

"Do you know, um, why?"

"She's just pissy about me changing things around."

"Um...he looks like he's pouting."

"Yeah, she does that. Don't worry. I'm not doing anything bad, just keeping her from messing with your head without forewarning."

"But he can still do it?"

"Only with advance warning and good reason."

That wasn't as good as she hoped, but it was better than nothing. At least, this way, she didn't have to worry about her mind going full dumb-ass on her again. Or full pervert. Or...or something worse.

She blushed at the idea of going further down the road to slut-dom than she already had. The fact that she was a whore in a hotel was bad enough, even if she was getting off on it sometimes, but the idea of actually having a personality in her head turning her that much sluttier, that much hornier, that much more willing to do whatever she was told - and worse, to pursue it - was something that she wasn't sure if she liked.

Correction. She wasn't sure if it was something that her brain liked, because her body apparently loved it, if the wetness between her thighs was anything to go by after the whole stupid-talk situation.

Bea tapped a few more keys, and then the quarantined green code disappeared. She made a few notes on the rest of it, then typed in a few lines to replace the parts that she had stripped out. When Isabella looked over her shoulder, she could tell that the AI was still not pleased, but the calico cat didn't say anything. He just stood there, watching.

"There we go. That should do it," Bea said.

"And this isn't going to...you know...get me in trouble?" she asked, looking back at the AI.

"Not if she knows what's good for her."

"I thought that he was in charge."

"Only while she's doing what needs doing. When she starts messing with people and the bottom line, I can step in."

"Well, thank you."

"You're welcome, dear."

"Do you mind, um, if I ask a question?"

"Sure. But let's do that somewhere a little more comfortable, hmm?" Bea suggested. "Come with me. I know just the place."

They ended up sitting on the top of The New Atlantis, taking advantage of the upper restaurant that was still partially under construction. Isabella rather liked it, considering the open-air feeling that she got up there, and the fact that they were able to be alone. She didn't feel the AI around, and she wondered if that was intentional. If it wasn't, then she still appreciated it, but for different reasons.

She sat down with her muzzle back on her face, something that was allowed for the day off, she imagined. The black jaguar sighed as she pulled her cup of tea to her lips, swallowing a few small mouthfuls before putting it back down.

"Thanks for helping me, again," she said. "I know it's kind of your job, but...still..."

"It's fine. I'm just glad we found it quickly," Bea said, crossing her leg. "So, what did you want to talk about?"

"Um, those PA things."

"What about them?"

"Can you make them as well as get rid of them?"

"It'd be pretty easy, yeah. Why?"

"Oh, um...just thinking..."

"...Getting into the idea, now?"

The teasing smirk on the vixen's face didn't help things, and Isabella groaned, rubbing her face with both hands as she felt the blush rising. She looked down into her cup of tea, trying to think of something, anything else, but, well, what were you going to think of when you were getting teased like that?

Bea nudged her with a foot under the table, and she groaned.

"Look. I just...there's a lot of stuff going on, and it's hard for me to keep up with it all. I thought, maybe...maybe it might help, if I know there's something I can put in here." She tapped the side of her head. "Something that likes it more than I do."

"Are you saying you don't like this?"

"I don't know. It's hard to tell."

"If you didn't like it, we'd be required to find a way to make it work for you. That's part of the rules of accommodation."

"I studied those rules. They're written just as much to give you a way to fuck with my head as they are to make life better for me."

"Glad you know that much. Some of the employees don't."

She nodded. Not surprising, there. It was one of the major coups that the AI overlords had gotten over on the programmers, and one that they were still fighting to this day.

The Rules of Accommodation, as they were more grandly known, were sold to the public as rules that the AI masters had to follow, rights that the employees had to be comfortable in the roles that they were given. Ostensibly, they had been written to give the employees rights to only work in jobs that they felt good in.

Unfortunately, not enough people had read the rules. A good chunk of them actually gave the AIs the right to mess with a mind, hack and alter the programming of implants, and condition employees until they were happy in the role that they had been unhappy with before. It was part of the reason that she'd been happy that the AI here had been so upfront about the role that she was getting. At least, this way, she knew what she was getting into, and she knew how to handle it.

She knew that she could take it. She just didn't know if she could take everything that she was going to face.

Bea was still staring at her, sipping at her own cup of tea, and Isabella sighed.

"Sorry. It's a stupid question."

"Not really. Everyone wants something that makes life easier. You just have access to different tools than most."

"Yeah, but...I just asked you to get rid of something, and now I'm asking about putting it back in again."

"Are you? I'm pretty sure you don't want that Barbie personality again."

"Oh god, no. No way. Never again."

"Never?"

"...Maybe once in a while," she admitted with a blush, "but always killing it later."

That would be the only way that she could handle it, she was sure. Something that would make a scene more fun, but something that would go away when she didn't need it anymore. Something a bit like a drug, an enhancer, something that she didn't keep all the time, but made it better when she used it.

That wasn't so bad, was it?

As she shifted around in her chair, trying to make herself feel better about the idea, Bea put her cup down. The vixen leaned back in her seat, cocking her head to the side.

"I think we can find a way to craft a good one for you. Maybe one with a few different options to it."

"Really? You...you mean it?"

"Yeah, sure. If you want to have it."

"Oh, thank you."

"But...you will have to pay for it."

"How much? I'm doing pretty good so far, and I can work a little harder to boost my accounts, if I have to."

"Oh, I'm not talking money."

"...Then...what?" Isabella asked, half-expecting some sort of sexual favor.

The vixen looked her up and down, and she felt that half-expectation rising to something different. She blushed as she was stared at, trying and failing to resist the little push she felt to arch her back, shove her chest forward, feel the weight of her breasts hanging down. Under the table, she spread her legs a little, and -

"Oh, stop. I don't want sex."

"You don't?"

"Nah, that's not how I like to do things. I think..." She smiled. "Yes, I know exactly what I want from you. And we can work on that right now."

"O-okay. What do, uh, what do I have to do?"

"Just hold still while I get a little more programming done..."

#

Isabella had expected something embarrassing, but what she got was something that wasn't just embarrassing, but thoroughly silly. The black jaguar looked down at her limbs, shaking her head.

I can't believe that THIS is what she wanted...

It was a short-term shift, Bea had promised, but even that seemed too long to wait when she had orange words popping in and out of the black synth-flesh that formed her arms and legs at the moment. Her limbs had turned into billboards, saying things like 'Bea is the Greatest' and 'Hacker's Pet' and more. Each and every phrase only made her feel more like a walking drone than a person.

And that, in turn, turned her on, something that embarrassed her to no small amount.

"Ugh."

She blushed worse as she walked down the hallway, keeping her eyes pointing straight ahead and trying not to think about the way that the other employees would look at her later. She wasn't sure, but she would have almost preferred to be made to do something sexual for Bea than this.

It was worse, in a way, because Bea had managed to get some synth-flesh across her chest, covering her nipples for the day but leaving her with a flat line across her torso that scrolled with more words. It was like watching a newsfeed, except it said things like 'Bea's Drone Here' and 'I Know You're Staring' and 'This Space For Rent'. It was altogether ridiculous, embarrassing, and it heated her up more than she could entirely believe. She was wet down there, wet to the point of pulling her pussy out and tucking it under her arm, letting it drool down against her side.

She was so intent on walking straight ahead that she missed the caution holos that were spread across the floor of the employee dwelling hall and ran right into a dangling metal limb. Isabella grunted, cupping the side of her head and looking up.

"Hey, watch where you're - oh, it's you."

And that was Molly, the half-mouse, half-robot clinging to the ceiling and looking down at her. The rodent had a mask over her face, probably to keep the sparks away as she worked on a lighting fixture. Isabella rubbed the side of her face as she looked at the dangling leg that had smacked her in the face, and she belatedly realized that it hadn't been dangling, but rather holding a connection to a power supply.

"Sorry," she muttered, gently pushing it back into place.

"Yeah, well...yeah."

Molly looked away, and Isabella couldn't help but remember what Bea had mentioned. She still didn't know if she believed that Molly had a crush on her, but the way that the mouse was behaving this time, she sort of wondered. Was there a blush under the mask right now, or was she just annoyed?

Isabella shook her head. Not the time to think about that.

"Um, sorry about bumping you," she said. "Wait, I just said - sorry, again. I'm just...in my head right now."

"It's fine. Fine. It's fine."

"Um...what are you -"

"Fixing things."

"Do you need..."

"I don't need help. Not from you."

"Okay, um...I'll just..."

"Yeah, you go. I'll watch you go. Love to watch you leave." The mouse paused in mid-reach for the light fixture, then punched her middle. Hard. Hard enough that she dropped her tools and had to grab her hand from the sudden obvious pain. "Owwwwwwwwwwww!"

Isabella stared, not quite sure what to say, and definitely not sure what to do. Her arms, however, were faster than her, managing to grab the tools as they fell. She didn't know if that was a programmed subroutine of the hotel to avoid damage, or if it was just something that she wanted to do on a subconscious level, or if the AI was interfering, but whatever it was, her hands moved like lightning to catch everything. She stared in shock at the tools resting in her palms when she was done, not entirely sure how she had managed to pull that off, but not exactly complaining, either.

Muttering curses under her breath, Molly pulled her extended leg from the power source, then crawled down the walls. She landed with a thump at Isabella's side, taking the tools one by one and shoving them into the magnetic belt at her middle.

"You forget I say that. Got it?"

"Forget you said what?"

"Exactly."

"No, seriously, I don't...you mean..."

"Gah! I said forget it. I didn't mean to say it, and I seriously didn't mean for you to hear it."

"..."

"Get. Get!"

The mouse pushed her by the butt, hustling her down the hallway. Isabella stumbled for a few steps, managing to get her balance again after that, but she couldn't help but wonder what exactly had just happened. The only thing that she could think of was that the mouse really did have something of a crush, but the way that it had gone -

"And stop shaking your butt so much! I don't want to - I mean, I do - shut up! Shut up, Molly, just shut up!" The mouse groaned audibly. "Goddamn, that old thing needs an upgrade..."

It was hard not to smile just a little bit at the way that the mouse had to struggle just a bit. It wasn't that she wanted Molly to have a hard time of it, but at the same time, there was something gratifying in the way that she wasn't the only one having a bit of a hard time. Having someone else in the same boat made her feel just a bit better about herself, and made her feel like maybe she'd be able to crawl out of the hard-time-feelings eventually.

She walked around the corner, looking back at the suspended mouse-spider, and promptly managed another accident. This time, it was a little bit more...severe. Apparently, it wasn't just the lights getting fixed. It was also the floor. A rather large chunk of floor. A chunk of floor that was just big enough for a certain black jaguar to fall through, and fall through she did, with a most hilarious scream suitable for cartoons from many years ago.

"How the hell did you miss the giant hole in the floor?" Molly asked as the mouse tapped her way into the room.

"You know, I honestly don't know. I think I was too busy looking back at you," she said as honestly as she could.

"You - just...just don't. Let's see the damage."

Isabella nodded, keeping her mouth shut and her voicebox off as the mouse started poking at her damaged limbs. Thankfully, the augmented things were much less prone to pain than bio limbs would have been. The sensitivity had been shut off just before impact, and while one of her arms was hanging on by shreds at the elbows, she couldn't actually feel that. Her legs were bent back the wrong way, and she knew that it would take some extreme elbow grease to pull them back around.

All in all, though, for falling down a story and a half without any chance of bracing herself, she was in pretty good shape. None of her bio-parts were damaged, and she was fairly un-rattled from it all. She just wished that she hadn't gone through the fall in the first place, when all was said and done.

"One limb out of four undamaged. Fucking hell, but you're clumsy."

"I'm not used to it yet, and you said it yourself. I got a lot of RAM, but I don't have that map of the hotel that you all have."

"Well, when this is fucking done, I'm going to install that damn module in your head myself."

" No, you aren't," the AI said, and both of them looked up at the ceiling. Molly, surprisingly, with a glare.

"You just try and stop me, you knock-off of the Sesame Street Count. Can't even get past one..."

Molly shook her head, pulling two of her eight legs up. The tips opened with various tools, and she started pulling the ones she needed off of them.

"Alright. Let's see what we salvage and what we get rid of..."

Isabella held still. She was glad that she was in capable hands, but at the same time, she couldn't help but notice that Molly kept looking her up and down when she wasn't looking. The mouse had a crush, alright, and...well, she was kind of flattered. And kind of wanted to know a bit more about Molly, now...
