Slayer or Layer 33

For Lorvianne

By Draconicon

"...No..."

Lorkos stared into the treasure chamber, or at least, what had been the treasure chamber, his eyes wide and his mouth hanging open. Slowly, his head panned from side to side, his neck stretching out as if the feral dragon would see the treasure again if he just looked at the room from the right angle.

"No, no, no, you can't just be..."

He'd flown so far, and he'd faced so many dangers. For all that the slopes of the mountain had been empty of drakes and dangers, the former wolf had been sure this was the right place. Even the scent in the tunnels had confirmed that this was the same place that he'd been transformed, the same place that the red dragoness had turned him and left him as a toy for the kobolds.

This was the right place. Unfortunately, it no longer contained treasure, kobolds...or the dragon that he was looking for.

Lorkos stomped a forepaw, slamming it into the stone floor hard enough to crack the rock. He'd been convinced that he'd find Ashin in the mountain, had pushed himself to his absolute limits in order to get here before someone could find him. There had been a hundred opportunities to stop on the way to see if there was a shaman that could break her magic, but the hope to see her and beg for forgiveness, to beg for her to fix it, had pushed him to ignore all of them.

And for what? An empty treasure chamber in an empty mountain, with no sign of where she'd gone.

The blue dragoness wanted to do nothing more than scream, and the only thing that stopped him was the memory of such a thing bringing a mountain down on one of the creatures he'd hunted in the past. The idea of burying himself beneath a mountain, killing himself in the rockfall, was not something that he really wanted to experiment with.

Still, he stomped more than he should have on the way out, and the tunnels quaked around him as he folded his wings behind him. Anger. Anger was a good way to keep the arousal at bay, as long as he didn't direct that anger at her directly or at any of the scaly kind out there. That was...that was something that he had learned.

Because the arousal was getting stronger. Ever since laying his eggs, he had been gradually shifting back towards being in heat, and he knew that it was only a matter of time before he was spreading his hindlegs and begging something scaly to jam its cock inside of him. When that day came, humiliation would not be far behind.

But I have time. I have time.

It wasn't at a full heat yet, and now that he was a dragoness in body, he didn't have to worry as much about how much time he had to fix the slow transformation. He could keep going until he was dropping from heat, as long as he kept to the outskirts of mammal territory. That was doable.

That was doable, he reminded himself.

Even so, he was dribbling a bit by the time that he reached the cave exit, and he could feel his nethers starting to twitch a bit. It might not have been heat, but it wasn't as far from it as he would like, either.

Flight would take his mind off it, he knew from experience. While he was flying, he wasn't paying attention to the lower part of his body as much, save for the way that his tail moved through the air. If his pussy happened to be dripping, it was just that little bit of moisture that was trailing by, no different from cutting through a cloud to save time. And the cold air would do a lot to start damping down the heat.

Lorkos left the tunnel, staring up at the sky. It was slowly fading, the light starting to leave the heavens. It wouldn't take long for the stars to be out, and he imagined it'd be a moonless night tonight.

Perfect for keeping anyone from noticing him.

Flapping his wings, Lorkos launched himself into the air, seeking out the wind currents that hugged the mountain and using them to push himself further into the air. One flap, two, three, and he was circling around the peak. Winds pushed about him, lifting him further, and he was over the peak.

But he was not alone.

The scout rider and the gryphon had been dispatched to the village at the base of the mountain. Reports had come in that there were a number of different beasts in the area, each one causing its own sort of trouble for the villagers. Other rumors had said that there were those in the area that sympathized with the scaly beasts, even going so far as to lay with them.

Such behavior was unlikely, but as far as Roger was concerned, it had to be looked into. Dispatched as part of a team of six, the vulpine gryphon rider had taken the north face of the mountain, sweeping down along the slopes and checking it for anything that looked particularly dangerous. So far, there was nothing but old tracks.

Others would have been rather relieved at that, but Roger felt anything but. This mountain might have been on the edge of scaly territory, but that should have meant that the monster population should have been soaring, a border fort of a natural infestation. The fact that all he could find were old tracks concerned him, and made him wonder where they might have gone.

He was about to pull his gryphon around and head back to the rest of the group when something passed overhead. It was small enough that he almost thought that it was a great eagle, at first, but then he looked again.

...Dragon...

A chill ran down his spine as he watched the beast circling the top of the mountain, gradually gaining more and more altitude. It had to be looking for prey, he thought. If it hadn't spotted him yet - and from the way it was so lazily circling, he doubted it had - then he had a chance to get away, to inform the rest of the patrol.

After all, there was no way that he could take on a dragon solo. Even the best of the gryphon riders knew that it was best to take them two on one, at the very least. The more ways to split the beast's attention, the better.

So, he turned his mount -

"NNGH!"

"CAAAAAAW!"

Gryphon and rider screamed at the same time as the dragon's shadow passed over them, a great chill running down their spines as they spasmed and locked up. The gryphon began to fall, unable to flap its wings, and Roger could do nothing but fall with his mount.

What...what is...

Magic. It had to be magic, cast out by the dragon's presence. The shadow had crossed over them, carried the spell, and now they were doomed. A heat rose through his body, warming him just beneath his clothes, and he could feel the gryphon beneath him changing, too, warping, growing, thickening up.

Whatever it was, it had doomed them. Roger closed his eyes, waiting for the crash that would take their lives as they hit the ground.

THUMP!

The impact came, but death did not. Oh, that was to say that it didn't hurt, or that they were unscathed by the fall, but it was better than he had expected. They hit the mountainside and bounced, rolling through the earth, over gravel, and then into a stand of trees. His mount came to a sudden halt, and he was flung from his saddle into dust and pine needles.

It hurt, and hurt from head to toe, but it was not death, as it should have been. Roger groaned, sitting up and opening his eyes again. He lifted his hands and paused.

There, splitting through the leather riding gloves he'd been wearing, were scales. Deep, blue scales that were slowly spreading along his hands, covering the flesh, stretching the nails into deep, black claws.

"Oh...my...god..."

His eyes widened further as he felt the tightness of his garments, knowing that the growth was happening all over his body. Hell, some parts had already transformed. He looked down at his chest, seeing the broken leather over hard scales, and he realized that was how he had survived the fall. The scales had protected him, like armor.

Not that it had done it everywhere. There were places along his body that hadn't transformed when they hit the ground, but the transformation was taking the injured places, the wounds, the gashes, even a broken bone in his leg, and it was slowly healing them. The damage was disappearing more and more, and soon, it was as if they had never been.

Roger would have been ecstatic, if it weren't for the cost. The scales were still growing, still spreading, and he could feel them running up his neck and over his face. Dark hair that he'd kept long specifically for the warmth for these flights began to fall out in long locks, and he groaned as he felt the scales settling in along his jaw. He grunted as it started pressing forward, growing outwards, his face losing its humanity.

Turning his head, he saw his mount was in a similar state, though if Roger was becoming something like a lizard, then his gryphon was becoming more of a drake. It was gradually losing its feathers, wings shrinking and thinning while the body itself started to grow longer, more serpentine and less bulky. The creature didn't know what was going on, but it seemed less bothered than he expected, almost like -

Roger blushed as he looked under his mount, realizing that it was getting...rather stiff from what was happening to it. He whipped his head back to the sky, looking at the dragon. It was coming. He groaned, slowly pushing himself to his feet, feeling a tail starting to slide out from under him.

If he was going to die now, he might as well meet his end with dignity.

Lorkos had been just about to leave when he saw something hit the side of the mountain. Concerned about the possibility of being followed, he pulled his wings in, dropping a few hundred feet before following the slope of the mountain down to the crash site. He expected to see a gryphon, or perhaps a rival dragon having slammed into Ashin's mountain by accident. What he did not expect was something that almost looked like someone caught between the two.

The dragoness's eyes went wide as he saw the half-transformed fox and its mount. Whatever the gryphon had been previously, it had gone particularly male, and a scaly male, at that. Lorkos's sex clenched at the sight of the shaft dangling down beneath the half-transformed drake, and whipped his head around to see the rider again.

From fox to lizard, the rider had been half-transformed, and the transformation was ongoing. What had been male was becoming either a female in the crotch or a complete female, because there were definitely curve lines that hadn't been there before.

How...

The rider grunted as it forced itself to its feet, walking towards him. Lorkos landed, shaking his head.

"What happened to you..."

"You did."

The lizard rubbed its head, almost like it was fighting something, while Lorkos just stared.

"I - what did I do?"

"You cast a spell. You did something to us."

"I - no, I didn't."

"You did. Now turn us - mmmph..."

The lizard clutched a hand to its head again, groaning under its breath. The rider was probably fighting off the compulsion to do as a Great One said, for all that Lorkos knew. That wasn't important right then.

What was important was that he had done this without even meaning to. The spell was losing all bounds, all ability to stay contained. Now, even when he wasn't fucking with it, the spell was mutating the world around him, changing it, warping it to something else. What was he supposed to do when anyone that came within range of him would begin changing?

Worse, there was nothing that he could do to help this rider. Not only did he have no idea how the magic worked - which was bad enough, risking making the transformation worse - but he could see other riders coming his way on the horizon. The fact that he could warp them just by staying still, by letting them come in range, didn't make him feel better. It actually made him feel worse.

I have to get out of here. I have to get out of range, fast.

Lorkos kicked himself airborne, flapping his wings desperately. There was no time to get altitude the way that he wanted. If he was going to avoid spreading the curse yet further, he needed distance, and he had to hope that the other riders would check their fallen comrade rather than chase after him.

As he flapped his wings, getting more height and more distance, he looked over his shoulder. The other five riders were dropping down, circling their fallen friend. He breathed out a sigh of relief, then turned his attention back to the flight ahead.

He needed to find another dragon, he realized. One that could point him towards Ashin, before this got any worse.

He just hoped the one that had been missing at the old village had finally returned.

The End
