A Treasure of Time

Part 10

For Nataraj

By Draconicon

"Understood, Boss," Olag muttered, leaning against the shaft of his axe as he looked out on the forest. There were little bits and pieces that were starting to light up with the morning light, but he knew that true dawn was still at least half an hour away. He stretched one arm up and over his head, popping one shoulder, then the other one. "Fuck...fuck..."

The pops continued as he slowly got to his feet, running down his spine like a steamroller over bubble wrap. He grunted as it all came free, but it didn't do much to make him feel any more awake. Then again, staying up all night did that to a person.

The polar bear looked over his shoulder at the sleeping purple-gray lizard. Nat had gone straight to sleep after waking up again. There'd been a small breakdown after seeing what he -

Fuck. Get it right. She.

After she woke up again. After she woke up again, she'd seen what had happened to her body, all the new curves, the new scale color, and it had been like looking at a person on the brink of a complete breakdown. The polar bear had just watched, not knowing what to do as Nat smiled, then cried, then whimpered, then smiled again. It was like a hundred emotions were going through the lizard at once.

He wasn't great at that. He didn't know how to do anything about that. But he knew that there were things that bears were good for, even though he didn't really like doing all of 'em.

So, he'd hugged the lizard to sleep, squeezing her until she was completely out of it. When she went down, he'd sat watch, keeping himself awake. Not because of anything dangerous out there - not that there was anything that could climb up without the boss seeing it - but because he wanted to be awake if Nat woke up and tried anything stupid again.

Now that morning was here, though, it was clear that he needed to take some time to work out some frustration, and with Nat probably fucked over as a sex partner for the foreseeable future, he needed a different outlet.

Let's see if those earth elementals are still out there.

The bear walked to the edge of the cliff they'd climbed, looking down at the clearing. There were no clear tracks of the rocky things that had chased them up to the top, but he was pretty damn sure that they'd show up as soon as he walked into their territory.

He wasn't the only one that wanted to fight, either. The spirit in the back of his head, the damn thing that had been there since he was a kid - since he was fucking ten - wanted to fight, too. It always did, always wanted to have the feeling of the blood pumping, the wind stirring, the fall of snow interrupted by the fall of blood and bodies.

Olag had grown to like it, but he kept the fucker on a leash. People looked at him funny anyway for being a berserker. He didn't need to add more to that.

Pulling his axe out from behind his back, the bear hopped down the fifty feet or so to the ground below. The dull thud of landing rippled through the ground, and by the time that he was getting back to his feet, the elementals were already starting to swarm. He could feel them under his feet, feel the earth shifting and the power within dragging itself to different places, to the rockier parts of the ground.

It would have been beyond easy to stop it right then and there. One hit of the axe to the ground, and ice would have spread from him to the forest. They'd struggle to push through the frozen ground, and he was pretty damn sure that they'd fail.

But that would be easy. He didn't want easy.

The polar bear waited with the axe hefted over his shoulder, watching as the lumbering hulks of the earth elementals pulled themselves from their earthen homes, tapping his foot as he waited for them to fully take shape before him. They were grumpy, of course, likely not happy with him at all now that he had pulled them out of their rest. That was fine. He wanted them pissy. He wanted them ready to throw hell at him.

When the lumbering hulks - each one more than twice his height and probably around ten times his weight - got up from the earth, ranging from a shambling hulk to something more akin to a rock golem crossed with a jaguar, he brought his axe down to both hands.

"Alright, you fucks. Let's see how long you stay standing."

The spirit surged inside, and he roared as he charged. Cold spread from him, and the icy wind of the spirit's power burst from his jaws like the north wind coming off the sea. It froze the earth before him, but the bear's feet were sure and firm, finding places to step in the icy, slippery earth, and his axe flew in his hands.

Crack! The first hit would have broken any normal axe, but in his case, strength and skill carried the blade straight through the stone neck of the elemental before him. The toothy, pebble-filled mouth went spinning end over end, hitting the ground more than a dozen feet away.

The bear had already turned, kicking one of the stone elementals as they stomped his way. It cracked, the stone denting in, while the other had the misfortune to be the next target of his axe. The blade shimmered in the gray light of the pre-dawn, and he brought it down hard on the rocky head. If there'd been a brain, it would have splattered, but as it stood, the stone was cleaved in two.

With a grunt, he threw both to the side, turning on the ice, letting his own momentum spin him around. Three elementals dead in less than ten seconds. There were still dozens of them coming, and each one had the strength of a small titan behind them.

Shaking his head, Olag lifted his hand, waving them on. The spirit inside grinned, at least until it remembered that elementals didn't bleed.

Olag smiled at its frustrations. Looks like he got to piss off two monsters today.

Eventually, all the elementals were as dead as elementals could be. He'd chopped up their bodies so many times that he was pretty sure that they could not have come back as anything more than dust, and even that would have been a bit of a stretch.

More than that, he had covered the entire open ground between the forest and the temple in ice, and that meant that there was no way in hell that they were coming through. Not through that layer. He shook his head as the ground trembled, and stomped his foot on the ice.

"Hey, you're the ones that decided to come fight. Can't blame me if I'm stronger."

The spirit grumbled in the back of his head, demanding blood and bodies for the hunt. It flinched back as Olag slapped the back of his head.

That shouldn't work. I really don't know why it does, Salla said.

"Heh, maybe it's just fucking belief."

If it is, that's a hell of a placebo effect.

"Don't jinx it, boss."

Olag pulled his arm back, then tossed his axe back up to the cliff top. While it'd be a fun challenge to climb up with it in hand, it was something that he'd done in his training more than once, and he already knew he could do it. There'd be nothing gained by doing it this time, particularly with everything already taken care of. The polar bear wiped some of the sweat off his forehead, punched one hole in the rock face -

Rumble, rumble.

"...You kidding me right now?" he muttered at the rock. "You wanna go one more time? Right now?"

There was another rumble.

"Heh, well then. If ya think ya can take me, then let's see what ya got. But this is the last one, chuckle-fuck. After this -"

"Olag?"

Nat. He looked up, saw that the lizard was looking down at him. The bear groaned under his breath.

"Ah, shit..."

The rumbles turned to cracks, and the cracks turned to a punch as a fist twice his size jumped through the cliff face at him. Olag took it on the chin, punched right off his feet and through the air.

Ugh...fucking great...

Think of it this way. It's a challenge.

Yeah, but - ah, fuck, let's get this over with.

The bear grunted as he landed facedown on the far side of the clearing. He could hear Nat screaming at him, and guessed that the lizard thought that he'd actually been hurt. The idea that a punch would actually do that much was pretty fucking funny, considering the things that he'd gone through, and he chuckled as he dragged himself back to his feet.

"Olag! Are you okay?!" Nat shouted from the ruined top of the cliff.

"Yeah, fucking fine. Stay there."

"But -"

"Ya move, and I'll have to take care of ya. Lemme have this one. Besides." Olag smirked as the big pile of rocks started to slam itself together, slowly forming into something that was almost like a dragon. "I haven't had something like this to fight in a long fucking time. I need a challenge."

"No way. You can't beat that! Salla, come on, respawn him!"

Do it, and I'll fucking cut the bottom out of your goddamn boat, Olag thought.

You know we're on the clock.

You gave me a day, lemme have the day.

...Fine. But keep it quick. No lollygagging.

Aw, can't use my left hand for this?

One, horrible reference. Two, on your right.

The bear saw the sweeping stone arm coming. Others on the crew would have dodged it, or tried to parry it. Some would have leaped over it, or run up the limb to get at a weak spot.

Olag let it hit him.

The polar bear's breath was knocked right out of his lungs, but he braced himself as he slid on the ice, the claws on his toes sinking in and keeping him from sliding too far. He growled deep under his breath as he skidded about twenty feet away from his former position, slowly coming to a halt.

He looked up at the pile of earth and stone, and grinned, eyes flashing with blue light.

"My turn."

With a growl, Olag pulled. The bear bent and twisted, and the rocks came loose. With a shower of gravel, he yanked the elemental's arm free. The great beast looked down at him in shock, and so did the lizard from the top of the cliff.

Heh, if you think that's something...

"HA!"

He brought the stone limb down on top of the elemental's head, beating it back by a step. Then another, then another, each hit cracking both the limb and the elemental itself. Gravel and shattered stone rained on the ice, cracking it here, there, everywhere as the bear advanced on his enemy.

"How do ya like it, huh? Ya jerk! Get back over there, ya fuck! Get back!"

He was right on the verge of beating the elemental back into the stone face when his pillar of rock broke right in half. The top went flying over the top of the cliff, sending Nat ducking to the ground, while the other slammed right into the ice as he overbalanced.

"Ah, fuck..."

Olag looked up just in time to see the elemental's other front leg coming down. The boulder at the end looked particularly flat along the bottom, and he groaned. This was really gonna hurt.

BANG!

The bear slammed into his own ice, and he glared up at the rock that was holding him down. One eye saw red, the other blue. One was blood, the other spirit. He didn't like either. Grumbling under his breath, Olag spat out a tooth, feeling that his nose was probably out of alignment for the moment.

You are going to be one ugly son of a bitch when you get out from under there, Salla said.

Eh, I'm ugly anyways.

Not what everyone else says.

They're staring at my dick. Never had much of a face.

The bear was more annoyed than anything right at that moment. Here he was, showing off, and now the big bad elemental had a leg up on him because he'd gotten distracted. Still, wasn't much. And now, it was leaning right on him.

Nat screaming?

Not quite. More wondering why I didn't respawn you yet.

Heh. Tell him to look out.

You're not doing another Seismic Toss, are you?

Hey, ya find a move ya like...

He could almost see the mouse rolling his eyes, and he fought back a chuckle of his own as he situated his arms and legs on either side of the boulder. He had just enough room to get them in place, and as he got them positioned, the polar bear reached inwards.

The spirit waited for him, and he could feel it grumbling away at the lack of blood and slaughter that it wanted. Olag grunted at it, and it tried to turn away. Rolling his eyes, the bear growled at it again.

Make me strong.

The spirit tried to shake its head, but Olag's willpower grabbed it by the middle. He squeezed down on it, reminding it who was in charge, and who was in whose body.

Make. Me. Strong.

The spirit hesitated for another moment, then released its power. He felt strength running down his limbs, filling him to the brim, and he took a deep breath. Deeper than he should have been able to when he was crushed beneath that much rock, that was for sure.

And with that, he kicked and punched at the same time.

The elemental went flying with all the power that was behind the blow, and he grabbed hold to its arm, following it into the sky. The bear laughed as he soared through the air, feeling his adrenaline running high, feeling the sheer power that came from a fight like this. They soared a hundred, two, four, a thousand feet in the air, and then further still. They almost hit the edge of the world's bubble, stopping only when he felt the air start to thin.

And as they fell again, he ran down the elemental's arm. It stared at him with empty eyes, fear finally a thing for it to understand. Olag grinned as he grabbed it by its massive head, holding it by stones that ground together like jaws.

"Heh, ya thought ya had me, didn't ya?"

The elemental roared.

"Well, ya didn't. See ya next time...if ya live..."

He carried the beast all the way down, holding its head just under his own body. The crash, when it came, was glorious.

The bear grunted as he took the bandaging from Nat in as good a spirit as he could, though he didn't really feel that he needed it. The cut on his head - well, more like slash - wasn't bleeding, anyway, and he doubted that the wound was going to reopen.

"You're wasting your time. It's fine."

"You just fell a thousand feet, more, and you...well...look."

Nat gestured back where the ground had been. Had been, because there was ocean there, now. The impact from the toss up and down had split the island in half, and the lava and magma from deep below the ground was warring with the water, creating a great deal of steam in the air.

"Eh, it's fine."

"Fine?! You just - how the hell are you that strong?"

"Lots of sacrifices, Nat. Lots of sacrifices."

"..."

"None of 'em friends."

"Good."

The lizard finished bandaging him, and they both sat down on the edge of the cliff face. What had once led down to the earth below now led down to the sea, and it was a much bigger fall. The bear leaned forward a little, holding onto his axe - buried in the ground still - to keep from sliding off.

"Think we could find a way down and burrow to the hole?" he asked.

"Why would we do that?"

"Because it'd keep ya away from that fucking goddess, that's why."

"...Why do - do you think I'm scared of her?"

"I think ya got yourself whipped by her."

"..."

Real smooth, Olag, Salla muttered.

"Look, ain't looking down on ya, Nat, but ya are 0 for 2. That's not looking good for a third shot. Ya wanna try a different route, ain't no shame in it."

"No."

The lizard said it with such determination that the bear had to look back. She was crossing her arms - which had the effect of pushing forward a pretty fucking hot pair of breasts, the bear had to admit - and was shaking her head.

"No. We're going through this, and we're going through it now."

"Why the fuck now?"

"Because...because there's still a mission. Just because...Just because I'm like this..." The lizard was shaking, Olag realized.

"Like what? Hot?"

"Oh, you really...you really think..."

The lizard's cheeks burned, and Olag definitely recognized that sort of blush. Anger and embarrassment at the same time. Nat rubbed her cheeks, shaking her head a few times.

"That's not the point. But...but do you...actually think I'm..."

"Fucking hell, you don't?"

Nat looked down at herself, slowly spreading her arms before letting them flop back down to her hips.

Admittedly, he supposed other people would be a bit confused by what they were getting from the reptile. She had a hell of a set of tits, nice and big and bouncy, and her nipples looked like the sort that were easy to twist, fun to fuck with, and easy to tease their owner with a few little twists and pinches. The fact that they bounced every single time that the lizard turned around was a big plus, too.

That, and that ass. Nat had already sported a pretty big, feminine butt, but now it was even bigger, rounder, fatter. He swore that it had a jiggle to it that didn't have anything to do with muscle, and that was something that got the bear's attention every time that Nat turned around.

Fuck, the things I'd do to that ass...heh...she'd have a hole that gaped like any pussy by the time I was done...

That wasn't even counting the way that the lizard had started shining ever since she'd come back from the last respawn. It wasn't some sort of magical glow, either. It was just this oiled-up look that hadn't faded away, reflecting every bit of light around her. Made her look like some big-hipped, fat-assed woman, in his eyes.

The dick? Yeah, it was there. So? Salla said that the lizard was a 'she', now, then Olag was gonna do his best to think of her as a woman. And those tits and that ass did a lot to help that particular decision.

The bear rolled his eyes, giving Nat a shove.

"Look. You're hot. Fucking hot. And if ya want to go after the goddess again, fine. But when we're done, ya better let me fuck that ass, finally. I've been waiting for too fucking long, and it looks better than ever."

"...I..."

Nat rubbed the back of her head, the embarrassment coming back, and definitely less of the anger. It was a different lizard to the one that he had met only two days ago, now, but it was definitely not a bad change. Shyness wasn't a detriment, just like confidence wasn't always a positive.

Getting to his feet, the bear nodded towards the temple.

"Let's go, then."

"What? I thought you -"

"Ya said ya wanted to do the temple. We're doing the temple."

"But what if - what if I lose again?"

"Did ya lose getting this?"

"Huh? I mean, well...kinda...I didn't get what I wanted..."

"Didn't ya?"

The lizard didn't answer that. Olag shrugged, picking up a piece of wood that had been flung up to their campsite, and he used his axe and a stone to set it sparking, then smoking, then flaming. This time, they were going in with light.

"Come on."

"...Thanks," Nat muttered.

"Don't mention it."

They reached the altar again, and this time, the lizard hesitated. He'd heard from the boss how the last two encounters had gone, and he knew that was a risk for this time around. Nat had gotten trounced twice by a goddess, and that was hard enough to come back from once, let alone twice. He shook his head, giving the lizard a pat on the ass.

"Get up there."

"But what if..."

"You get what ya want from her, then we'll get the hell out of here."

"She'll want more."

"Yeah? See if I care. Go on."

He patted the lizard's ass one more time, and Nat got the message. She walked across the floor, her ass cheeks swaying more than usual, and he could hear the soft clap, clap, clap of them coming together. The polar bear could already imagine how she'd feel pressed back against his cock, and he growled under his breath as his cock started pushing his loincloth up. He looked forward that very, very much.

The ghostly images of the goddess's power started to rise as soon as the lizard made contact with the standing altar. She submitted herself to the chains, lifting herself off the ground with the stone around her ankles and her wrists. Olag couldn't help but imagine her chained down like that at camp, and what he'd do to her.

As the hands started fondling the purple lizard's breasts, he growled. There was something in the air. Not a scent, but a tingling feeling, like a power that was trying to stretch out and snare him. He recognized it from his time in the old Tundra, and knew that the fingers of the goddess were trying to slip into his head.

The spirit turned out to be useful for that. It lunged against the walls of the mental cage that he kept it in, growling the goddess away. He chuckled to himself, shaking his head.

Good boy, he thought.

With the goddess not bothering him directly, at least, the bear turned his attention back to Nat. The lizard curled her toes as she hung from the chains, gasping hard as the power of the goddess came down on her. The purple shine that covered her scales was starting to change, going from the smoothness of many pieces to something else.

Hey, boss?

Yes?

Did this bitch have any species that really worshiped her a lot?

Yes, as a matter of fact. Hippos.

Thought I recognized that sheen...

When did you go on a safari?

Didn't. Just had this girl that I saw at an exotic brothel a few times. Moved on eventually; haven't thought of her for years.

He shook his head, keeping his eyes on the lizard and the slow shifts that were starting to take place. He hadn't had the chance to see the process the last few times, and the bear wondered how it would go this time.

As the scales started to fade in favor of leathery skin, Nat moaned as she twisted her head from side to side. A collar was slowly starting to slide down along the back of the altar, and that, Olag did recognize. He lifted his axe, pointing the blade into the room.

"Hey, bitch!" he roared. The chains stopped, and so did the hands. "Just so ya know, I'm watching. Ya try anything funny with that collar, and I promise, ya gonna pay."

Oh, does the bumbling bear believe that he can handle a goddess?

"Ain't the point. All I gotta handle is your shit. Cut down a couple of earth elementals earlier. Ya try anything, ya ain't gonna have an altar left at the end of this."

"Olag..." Nat hissed. "Just...I can..."

"Can ya?"

"...No..."

"Then take the help. I'm here, ain't gonna stop it, but I'm here."

The bear leaned back against the hallway wall again, shaking his head as the collar stopped descending. Despite himself, he smirked. He always loved putting bullies in their place, and regardless of what the fuck the goddess was giving Nat, she was still a fucking ass, and a bully to boot.

The transformation, however, continued. The lizard slowly started twisting, shifting, growing. Her breasts continued to fill out, becoming a heavy pair that would fill even the bear's hands, and possibly to overflowing. As they ballooned outwards, slowly getting bigger and bigger, he imagined how they'd feel wrapped around his dick, and he could just imagine that he'd probably get one of the best titjobs ever from them.

As the transformation spread upwards, bringing that purple, leathery skin to the lizard's face, his snout started changing, shifting, cracking. It started pushing outwards, widening, becoming a thicker sort of thing rather than the narrower, pointed face that it had been before. Even better for blowjobs, as far as he was concerned.

The bear smiled as he watched a couple of tusks start poking out, not much of one, but enough to start showing some ivory from under those lips. They were probably good for intimidating some folk, but from what he'd seen of Nat like this, she wasn't going to be good at that. Getting all riled up and showing off? Yeah, definitely. Getting all embarrassed and flustered? That, too. But angry? That'd take a lot more work.

She shuffled and bounced as she kept squirming in her chains, and Olag kept having to shove his boner off in a different direction as he saw her curves coming in. Those already wide hips flared out further, the short-ass lizard turning into a wide-ass hippo. Her curves weren't that different from some of the boss's fertility idols, now that he thought about it. The bear chuckled; he wondered if she had the libido to keep up with the shape.

The lizard started developing ears, the shapes starting to poke out the side of her head and moving up along the sides, heading towards the top of her head. Hippo ears, soft and kinda cute, he had to admit. The kind of ears that were fun to play with after sex, and before, he thought with a chuckle.

And, of course, further down...

The former lizard was losing those longer, slightly narrow feet, but was gaining wider soles. The undersides were plumping out, getting softer, turning into something that looked more plush and warm to the touch rather than something that was suitable for climbing and acrobatics. He watched as they swelled outwards, not really growing any longer, but rather growing wider, soft and slippery-looking along the undersides.

He wasn't too surprised at that. The lizard had always had a foot fetish, and it probably got touched on by the goddess of sex while she was transforming her newest 'follower'. Olag shook his head, tapping his foot as he waited.

As he glanced up from the developing, widening soles, he saw the collar slowly creeping down again. He grunted, tapping his axe, and the collar stopped in place again. He was just starting to look down when he noticed that Nat's cock was starting to shift.

"Hey. Hey, Nat!"

"Nnngh..."

"Yes or no. Cock stays?"

"Nnngh...y-yes..."

"That's what I thought. Alright, bitch, ya heard him."

And why should I listen to the pair of you, in my temple? she asked.

"I think my boss could say it better than me." Olag picked up the axe. "But ya know what else?"

What?

"He'd give ya more than one chance. RAAAAAAAAAAGH!"

Nat and Olag reached the bottom of the temple with no further concerns. Once the altar had been cut in two, the voice of the goddess had disappeared. Not too surprising; all these fucking gods needed to have some sort of focus or other. Sure, it made them more powerful than the average spirit, but it meant that they were fucked if they ever lost it.

He patted Nat on the back as they stood before the hole to the next island at the bottom of the temple. The once-lizard had gone full hippo, and it sure wasn't a bad look on the little guy. Girl. Fuck, he still needed to work on that.

"Looking forward to the next island?" he asked.

"Yeah...I think it'll be...different, this time."

"Heh, aside from the fact ya got tits, now, how?"

"I feel...different. I'm still figuring it out, but...well, it's a good feeling. One of the better feelings."

"Good."

In that moment of awkwardness, he gave the hippo a one-armed hug. Looking through the hole, he could see that there were plenty of weird things waiting for them on the other side. There were tentacles from either squids or krakens through the gap, all waiting to pull them down and keep them underwater, but he was pretty sure that they could make it through.

He'd need a fucking nap after that, though. Fighting a goddess right after so many elementals hadn't been the best idea.

Just as he was about to step through, though, the naked hippo gently squeezed his hand. He looked down, arching an eyebrow.

"Olag? I just wanted to say...thanks."

"Yeah? For what?"

"Just...you know. Making me feel good about...this."

The hippo gestured at herself, and the bear chuckled.

"You want to thank me for that? Get that ass ready for a pounding. After I rest, I want to see just how bouncy it is."

"I can do that," the hippo said with a small laugh. "Shall we?"

"Yeah, let's go."

The End
