A Treasure of Time

Part 4

For Nataraj

By Draconicon

The palm tree jungle was surprisingly comfortable for the lizard, though that might have been because he had always liked the heat. Coming from a part of the world where hot weather was the norm and it never actually dropped below sixty degrees, it meant that he had the chance to really get into it. The heat beating down on him through the thin canopy over his head meant that he started to sweat the minute that he started moving, and Nataraj smiled as he felt the little droplets running up and down his scales.

Always good to be nice and shiny for anybody to see, he thought.

Not so good when the people that would see you would enslave you at a moment's notice, Salla said in his head.

You have to take the fun out of it, don't you? Besides, what's wrong with being a slave for a bit?

Remember how I said that physical stuff transfers but mental stuff doesn't?

...Yeeeees?

That's because whatever happens to your brain sticks around. So, if they happen to have a mind-controlling shaman or something like that...

Got it. Stick to the grunts.

That's not what I said.

Yeah? Well, that's what I heard.

The lizard nodded as if he was confirming that in an in-person meeting, even as he chuckled while wandering through the jungle. There was something about the feeling of soft sand and dirt between his toes and the feeling of sun and air on his cock and balls that made him feel rather nice as he wandered about.

Yet, at the same time, he was not being an idiot about things. He did keep his eyes peeled for any movement in the brush and along the trunks in the distance. The last thing that he needed was to be caught without Olag around, particularly as he didn't know if Olag had set up the campsite at the beach just yet. He imagined that the bear would have done that as soon as the air started cooling down from all the ice, but there was no guarantee just yet.

And besides, I still have to find an instrument...or, I guess, make one.

The lizard scoured the immediate area for anything that looked even vaguely fibrous, but it seemed that the island didn't have anything that would really work for that. All the wood was particularly hard and didn't want to break down no matter how many times he raked his claws over it, while the trees themselves were almost too stubborn for words. He ended up kicking one when it refused to give him a leaf or two that would work for the purposes he had in mind, and he only hoped that the comedic dance after that was not caught on some sort of hidden camera.

Figuring that the idea of a stringed instrument was out of his reach, Nataraj turned his attention to making something a little more wind-based. There were plenty of small branches and other things like that, and unlike the whole converting fibers to strings, as long as he found something that was reasonably sharp, he could make as many flutes or other wind instruments as he needed. Quickly, too, which was somewhat important.

Nataraj was just starting to weasel a bit of a smaller root out of the ground when he heard footsteps in the distance. He blinked, sitting up, and he saw shadows moving through the trees in further off. He blinked again, then looked up.

I am smart lizard. I climb.

And so he did, rushing right up the palm tree to test inside of the fronds at the very tip. He was abruptly reminded of the sticking points of the tree, the parts that were rather unfriendly to those that didn't have the ability to squat without pain, but he still managed to make it work, sitting in the heights and looking down at the forest below.

It wasn't the most comfortable of positions, particularly with the feeling of stabby bits sticking into his toes and soles, but he managed to keep from wincing or making any noise as the orcs appeared below. They had to be a hunting party, considering that they were carrying spears around, and they were whipping their heads this way and that. Their green skin had a shine to it that made them look utterly beautiful in the tropical light, and he licked his lips as he imagined what they'd be like between their legs.

I bet they have big dicks under those loincloths.

I'd suggest not finding out yet. The sea-dragon experience wasn't that long ago, the mouse said.

Are you going to be there every time that I think something sexual?

Probably. I am the one that's supposed to be showing you where to go and how to get there, after all.

Well, how about you do something to get these orcs out from under the tree before they notice I'm here?

Well, I could, but the smallest armament that we have is about the size of your head. I don't think you want a shot like that going off at high speed, do you?

You hurt my orcs, and I'll write a nasty song about you.

You wouldn't.

Try me, the lizard thought with a silent hiss.

And he would, too. The orcs might not be his, as a possession, but he was already imagining the sort of fun that he was going to have with them when it was a bit more safe. Perhaps when he was alone with a single hunter rather than a hunting party. Let them hunt a little lizard for a while, give them something to go back to the village with, something to tell them about the lizard that was so good at licking feet, and sucking dick, and -

If you want to avoid getting caught, I'd suggest finding another tree.

Nataraj blinked, looking down again. A few of the orcs were starting to tilt their heads back, sniffing the air, and he realized that they were probably sniffing either his musk or his sweat. Either way, it was time to find a different place to hide.

Picking one of the prickly bits of fruit that topped the tree, he cocked his arm back and threw it off in a different direction. Almost instantly, the orcs turned their heads and started chasing after it. As soon as they were out of immediate earshot, Nataraj leaped to another tree, and then another, crossing the jungle in the canopy.

"Don't know why I didn't think of this at the start," he muttered to himself.

Eventually, he found his way to another tree, well away from the orcs. He felt a bit sad that he hadn't had the chance to see them in greater detail, or to enjoy them the way that he liked, but as much as it annoyed him, he did have to consider the bigger mission. They had to get to Atlantis in one piece, and that meant pushing themselves as hard as they dared to get through the different islands as fast as possible. He didn't know if that meant that they'd be skipping some of the fun ones, but he imagined it meant less lingering than he'd like.

As he descended the tree, he realized that he'd found a bit of a spring. Not a hot spring, but one of those that had a nice flow of water coming from underground, creating a cooler sort of swimming hole. He smiled to himself, making a mental note of the location, and walked over to it. Dangling his feet in the water, he felt a little tingle, and made another mental note. It had a different sort of PH balance if he was getting something like that. Good? Probably. Interesting? Definitely.

But not for experimenting with now, he told himself. It might have any sort of transformative or helpful qualities, but his big task right now was to get an instrument. He had mapped out a good bit of the coast, about halfway to the orc village as far as he could tell, and he had gotten partway into the jungle, too. He had marked out this spring, as well as a stand of fruit trees that might be useful if they ended up spending more time here than they expected.

But he didn't know what lay on the far side of the island near the volcano. He was tempted to go and find out, but for now, it was probably better to get back to searching for something to play.

The roots on the trees around the spring, surprisingly, were just about perfect. He managed to break off at least three different roots, each one about as long as a flute. Turning them upside-down, he started grinding them smooth on either end with the rocks around the spring.

Who says I'm not a survivalist?

Nobody, the mouse said. Clever, though.

Thank you.

Just keep an eye out.

I thought you were doing that?

Usually, yes, but right now, I'm also keeping an eye out for Olag.

Is he in trouble?

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!"

Nataraj almost jumped out of his scales as he whipped his head skywards, watching as a loincloth-wearing orc went flying overhead. He didn't have any mark on him from a blade, but there was a giant bruise in the shape of a double-bladed axe head on his chest.

I'd say no, Salla said. Still, just watching the situation. Might want to make your way back before too long, though. I think this might be their healing spring.

Oh, healing water?

Readings suggest that it's possible, though there might be some transformative effects from it, too.

The lizard nodded. If he had something to dunk in there and get more of the water for later, he might have done just that, but the only things he had were the roots, and they were already open on both sides.

A pity, really.

He gathered them in his arms and started climbing the trees again. If Olag was fighting, then he should probably head back and make sure that the beachhead that they'd made was still secure. No point in getting kicked out if they didn't have to be.

#

"...I thought the ice would melt when I got back, not expand!"

"And? The sea's fine."

"Yeah, but you've made an IGLOO on the BEACH!"

Nataraj gestured at the sheer ridiculous ice dome that the bear had made, which was, admittedly, not a true igloo. It had been built with supports on the east and west, and had been made so that it shaded the bear from the sun from all directions. The sweat had stopped pouring off of the big ursine - a royal travesty, that - and the bear had his head covered with his loincloth, which seemed to have frozen itself to his forehead.

Of course, that left his big dick on display, and the lizard wasn't exactly complaining about that. He was more annoyed at the lost potential of a musky partner. He shook his head, sitting down by the igloo and immediately began shivering.

"Ugh...why do people like the cold?"

"Because it's better than the heat," the bear grumbled.

"No, it's markedly worse than the heat. There's no way to feel right when you're cold. It makes my bones hurt," the lizard said, grumbling under his breath. "Can I borrow your axe?"

The bear blinked, turning to look at him from the shaded interior of his ice dome. He cocked his head to the side.

"Why you want my axe, scales?"

"Nataraj."

"Olag."

"No, just use my name. Please?"

"Yeah, yeah. Why you want my axe, Nataraj?"

"Because I need to make a couple instruments, and I don't have a knife."

"...Eh, knock yourself out." The bear started to lie back down, then paused. "Not, uh, literally."

"You think I have to be told that?"

"I did, once."

He bit off a chuckle, having the idea that it'd be a bad idea to mock the big bear. Even if he did want to have some fun with a bit of rougher stuff sometimes, he doubted that it'd be a good idea right then and there.

The axe rested against the side of the dome, and he gave it a push, knocking it into the sand. One blade stabbed into it, anchoring the axe so that he could use the blade on the other side properly. He sat down, stabbing the ends of the roots into the sharpened points, using the long side of the blade to shave it down a bit further, then began working on getting the proper holes cut into it.

"So, how was it fighting the orcs?"

"Wasn't trying to kill 'em, so, bit harder," the bear said, covering his eyes once more.

"You think that you'll have any trouble when we get close to the mountain?"

"Nah. Just gotta make sure that they don't sneak up on us."

"They didn't look very sneaky."

"I'm not that good at tracking, so they might get up close."

"Well, just hit them then. Or let me talk to them."

"Yeah...talk...Uh, speaking of talking, wanted to ask you something."

"Uh-huh?" Nataraj asked as he shaved off the bottom half of one of the roots, making sure that it was the proper size for air to pass through. "What's on your mind?"

"Ya like to bargain with your body?"

"Sometimes. If the other person is sexy enough and I'm in the right mood. Why?"

"Just wanna make sure that you're not gonna try and make a deal with mine. 'Less the guy wants to bottom. Then I'd be interested."

"I'd never bargain someone else into a sex deal. That's just...wrong."

"Good. Just wanted to make sure. Gonna take a nap for a bit; keep an eye out?"

"Sure," the lizard said, but he had barely gotten word out before the loudest snores that he had ever heard filled the air. He blinked, looking up from his work to see the bear out cold already, and the snores themselves were bad enough that he was tempted to look for rocks to jam into his ears to block it out.

Note to self, do not sleep in the same bedroom as him, he thought.

You and every other man on the ship, Salla said.

...You're going to get the best sleep you've gotten in weeks, aren't you?

Try years. Good luck.

Said it before and I'll say it again. Baaaaastaaaaard.

Yep.

Once he was done making his instruments - a flute and a pipe - he sat back against the sandy beach and looked out at the water. It was a beautiful view, and he had to admit, there was something utterly spectacular about the way that the sand turned black as soon as it was touched by the water. He could still make out chunks of ice that were slowly fading away as the water moved around it, as the sea was turned warm again by the sun and whatever currents existed out there, but despite everything that seemed...normal...about this island, he was consistently reminded of how abnormal it was.

After all, when all he had to do was look up to see that Salla's ship was floating off in the distance through the tears of time, it was very easy to remember that he was in an isolated bubble universe.

That wasn't the only tear, either. The more that the lizard studied the place, the more aware of the odd flows of time that he became. He started to notice that there was a sucking feeling, like all the time passing was being pulled towards the mountain, and then under it. More than that, he could feel himself itching, almost like his scales were growing and weakening faster than they should be.

Weird, really weird...

Shaking his head, he turned around and looked at the jungle of palm trees instead. Most people would have been rather relaxed here, finding it to be something that they had been missing in their regular lives. Others would have been freaked out, finding it all kinds of wrong to have orcs and other fantasy things around them.

Nataraj, on the other hand, was bored.

After all, he had come here for an adventure, and while he was perfectly understanding of the fact that there was a real danger, he knew that he had the skills to keep himself alive and safe. Sitting here was doing nothing, and quite likely putting them behind. If they were going to get this mission done properly, they needed to get up and start moving, to start making their way towards the mountain.

And they weren't going to do that with the bear sleeping his ass off.

Grumbling in annoyance, Nataraj got to his feet. He was about to shake Olag awake when he blinked, thinking about the situation for a moment. They'd pulled him along for his musical skills as well as for being rather persuasive, and to keep Olag on track. That meant that he was fully justified with waking the bear up, but perhaps...

He looked at the flute in his hand, and he smiled. Perhaps there was something else that he might be able to do.

After a moment's hesitation, he lifted the flute to his lips and blew through it. The first few high notes were a bit scratchy, but he knew enough about flutes to be able to modify his blowing to get it working the right way. He turned his head slightly, blowing from a different angle, and his fingers danced along the rod of wood.

Just as he hoped, there were a few twitches along the naked bear's fingers. Those twitches were soon echoed in other parts of his body as the lizard played for longer, and he kept whistling along the rod.

Bit by bit, the twitches turned into sleepy motions, motions that meant that the bear was sitting up, then reaching for his axe. The lizard grinned as he started to change up the song a bit, trying out a few different sounds and tones to see what they did. It was like playing a brand new video game where you started hitting all the buttons on the controller to see what they did, and it was rather fun.

Until the point where the bear brought his axe down right beside the lizard's tail.

It was clear that Olag was still knocked out, but Nataraj filed that away as a very clear 'do not use' note. After all, it was helpful to have the ability to make Olag hit things, but those things needed to be people other than him.

The lizard slowly got to his feet after that, playing a different tune. Once he had a better idea of how to control the bear than he ever had of how to control QWOP, he started playing a new tune, guiding them into the jungle of palm trees and deeper in towards the center of the island. There were other things to find, other places to enjoy.

#

He wasn't sure just how long he'd been playing before Olag finally woke up. He yelped as the bear suddenly whipped around, the axe sweeping under his legs and freezing the grass and dirt beneath his feet. He slammed down hard enough to sting his soles, and he almost went head over heels from the sudden slipperiness.

"What the hell are you doing?!" the bear shouted.

"I was moving us along," Nataraj said, wobbling from side to side, his tail barely keeping him from falling over from a loss of balance, his feet trying to slide out from under him even as the sweat on his soles tried to freeze. "We don't want to spend too long here, do we?"

"Yeah, but - ugh."

The bear growled, rubbing his hand over his muzzle. His loincloth had finally unthawed from his forehead, falling down in his hand. Olag snorted, shaking his head before tying it back around his waist, the fur ruffling around it.

"Fine. I'll go with it this time. But don't do that again."

"...Did I do something over the line?" the lizard asked.

"Yeah. Ya had a point, but ya did. Don't do it again."

"I won't. Sorry. Seriously. Sorry."

And he was. Nataraj hated it when people stepped over his lines, and doing that to someone else honestly crushed him if he didn't have a distraction in the moment. He seized on following the bear, his flute at his side.

Olag grumbled for a few seconds, but eventually fell quiet. The polar bear sighed.

"Apology accepted."

"You sure?"

"Ugh. Look, ya had a point getting me moving. I shoulda been on the move with ya before instead of trying to sleep off the hot part of the day. I just don't like someone else making me do something. It's a sore spot."

"You got it. Never doing that again."

"Ya can make it up to me with your mouth later tonight."

"Oh, I can do that. I can do that really, really well," Nataraj said with a wink.

"Heh, we'll see, scales. Nataraj. Sorry."

"Thanks."

They walked along for a while longer, passing some distance off from the spring that the lizard had noted before. He made sure to make another mental note of it, but he didn't bother turning them towards it. The last thing that he wanted was for them to be resting when the orcs came by, something that was a bit of a risk any -

"YIPES!"

Nataraj yelped as he was suddenly yanked head over heels, his feet bobbing up and down at the end of a rope. He blinked as the world turned upside-down, and his balls swung down to cover his cock as he dangled at the end of the rope trap. He blinked more than once as he turned in place, looking around as Olag walked back to him. The bear chuckled.

"Need a hand?"

"Um..."

He tried to pull a sit-up to reach his ankles, but it wasn't nearly as easy as he had expected. He groaned as he wobbled around, trying and failing to reach the knot around his ankles with his fingers, and then failing to get his tail into the gap between ropes and scales. Shaking his head, he flopped back to hanging upside-down.

"You're not going to cut the rope with the axe, are you?"

"Was thinking about it, but nah. That'd hurt."

"Then what did you have in mind?"

"Hold still."

The bear reached around, using the axe to slowly lift him up. The bigger, broader flat side of the axe head meant that there was more support than just a hand on his back. Soon, he was lifted up enough to be able to properly reach his ankles, and he was able to untie the rope rather than just wiggle himself free.

He even got a free ride back to the ground by staying on top of the axe, and he chuckled as Olag was able to hold his weight so well.

"You're stronger than you look."

"Yeah, well. Happens when ya get possessed by an ice spirit."

"Seriously?"

"Yeah. Kinda yeah, anyway; got possessed, but I'm making him pay rent."

"Rent in this case being power?"

"Right in one, sca-Nataraj. Ugh. Nataraj."

Well, at least he's trying.

They got back to walking, and this time, they managed to make it around the other traps that were laid out on the ground. More than once, Nataraj wondered what it would have been like to have the bear lifted off the ground and yoinked into the air, just for the sake of getting at him in a naughtier, more intimate way, but he put that temptation to the side. He was getting get it later, and it was better to do that more willingly, anyway.

He expected them to get to the far side of the jungle by sundown, but there was no such luck. With having to hide from the orc patrols twice, they ended up delayed to the point where the mountain was still a mile or two away when the sun started going down. Olag called a halt at that point, and the lizard was forced to agree with him. No point in climbing a raging mountain in the dark.

As Olag set his axe against a nearby tree, Nataraj gestured at it.

"Have you had that thing for long?"

"Long enough," the bear said. "Got possessed first, then found that a year or so later."

"Is it special?"

"...Kinda?" Olag shrugged. "Is for me, at least. Most people don't notice much difference between it and a regular axe. Except it's fucking heavier."

"How much heavier?"

"You pushed it over, right?"

"Yeah. Wasn't that hard."

"Try and pick it up."

Arching an eyebrow, Nat went and gave it a try. The lizard gripped under the bladed head of the axe, pushing up with all his strength. To his surprise, he didn't even manage to shift it half an inch, let alone actually take it off the ground.

As Olag leaned back against another tree, slumping down along the trunk and crossing his legs at the ankles, Nataraj kept trying to pull the axe off the ground. It had become a point of pride now, and he was going to get the damn thing to move. He pushed, he pulled, he even grabbed it under the head and jumped, hoping to thrust his leg muscles into the effort, but it didn't even budge.

"How...the fuck...do you use this thing?!" Nataraj asked after nearly five minutes of trying to get it off the ground.

"It's a Mjolnir thing," the bear muttered.

"Nnnnnng...MMMMMPH!"

"It's not budging, buddy."

"NNNNNNNGAH!"

"Still not moving."

"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

The lizard threw himself against the axe as hard as he could, but all that he managed to do was throw himself backwards, hitting the ground hard. His head landed right beside the bear's feet, giving him a comforting waft of foot sweat as a consolation prize. Olag chuckled.

"Told ya."

"Nnngh...that's not fair. I want to use it now."

"Well, get possessed a couple of times, go on a few quests. You'll find your own super-weapon eventually."

"That sounds like work."

"It is. Fun, though, heh."

"Ugh..."

Sitting up, he slowly rolled his hips so that he was facing the bear again. Out of curiosity, he gently grabbed hold of Olag's ankle, lifting the bear's foot into his lap and giving it a gentle stroke along the underside. There was no laughter, so the bear obviously wasn't ticklish. Olag opened one eye, looking down at him, and Nataraj chuckled.

"You mind if I give you a foot massage?"

"Depends."

"On?"

"Whether you're doing it with your tongue or your fingers."

"Well, I was thinking tongue for the night, and fingers after."

"Heh, good answer, Nat. Damn good answer."

The bear extended his leg a bit further, and Nataraj dug his nose right in under those broad toes, the long, flatter, wider foot of the bear ticking so many of his boxes that his dick just shot right up as he dragged his nose along the underside of the toes. One breath, two, three, sucking down the soft smell of sweat and musk that lingered between the toes.

"Mmmm, not my favorite feet, but very good."

"Less rating, more licking," the bear grunted, gently pushing the lizard with his toes. "I've been walking all day, remember? And you owe me."

"You got it."

He shifted so that he could lean back a little ways, resting the bear's foot right on the tip of his snout. The weight of it was just about perfect, and he groaned under his breath as he licked and lapped against the black pad along the bottom, sucking up the bit of sweat that was down there. The liquid was chilled rather than warm, which was a different feeling, but he knew that the bear was probably unable to control that.

Yet, he kept licking, firmly pressing his tongue against that big, broad foot and feeling it push down on him just enough to keep him in his place. He moaned under his breath, savoring the feeling, the smell, the taste. Every little lick made it stronger, and he idly reached down with his free hand to cup his balls, to tease them a little as he lapped along the bear's sole. He traced letters in the dark flesh, teasing it and making it shine.

It didn't take long for the bear's cock to start rising, either, the thick shaft starting to point upwards and twitch with the pleasure of a good foot licking. Nataraj tilted his head, dragging his tongue along the side of the big, wide sole, tracing the curve there up to the toes, and then flicking his tongue between each.

Mmmm, builds up quite a sweat in the hot weather...god, when he goes into the volcano...

He didn't know how that was going to go, but he knew that it was going to leave this bear a musky mess, and that, in turn, was going to make him a very happy lizard.

As he dragged his tongue across the bear's toes, Nataraj made sure to flick between each pair of digits, finding that bit of musky liquid and dragging it out. He felt the soft rustle of the fur against his tongue, and he smiled as he knew that he was giving those toes a good, well-deserved cleaning. He dragged his tongue slowly along the tip of the big toe -

You guys go ahead and enjoy yourselves. I'm going to get the popcorn, Salla said in his head, and Nataraj almost had a spit-take at the reminder that they were being watched. Olag, too, for that matter.

"Ugh, why the hell does he have to remind us about that?" the bear grunted.

"He's in your head, too?"

"Yeah, always yapping."

"Well, if we have an audience, we might as well make the show even better..."

"Heh, you got something in mind, Nataraj?"

"Oh, mostly being underfoot and then getting you to cum your brains out."

"Ain't much to cum out, but let's see you try..."

The End
