Play Log...
Terra... a beautiful planet once known as the jewel of the Altia Galaxy. Terra was a small lush planet that had given rise to the Anthromorphia, a unique animal race with human features that dominated the planet. There were many of them, different breeds and species that lived at all points of the globe.
The planet's history was unique, as was its fate. Terra had once been comprised of different countries which separated up the planets by different species of people. Racism was commonplace as was wars that led millions to their deaths. During the last war over three quarters of the planets population had died in the nuclear holocaust and the planet had been poisoned harshly.
However this was not to last, the remaining Terrans realised that in order for their respected species to flourish they had to be tolerant and respectful of others and over the course of a thousand years, Terra had slowly began to recover.
Then came the breakthrough.
The respected countries merged together as a united Terra under the banner held in the northern country of Chentrilla which had long been revered for their neutrality. A city, built on a large island within a crystal blue lake had become the capital for this new united Terra which had, within fifty years eliminated all wars, poverty and most diseases on the planet. The planet had recovered and the conservation of nature became the top priority, inspiring new technologies such as an advanced weather control grid which allowed Terra to manipulate the conditions on the surface to suit their needs.
Finally, Terra had another magnificent breakthrough, this one of a more expanse implication... Pegasus Drive.
The "Pegasus" Drive, named after a variety of very rare winged "Equinus" or horse on Terra was an advanced space propulsion system that allowed Terra to boldly venture into the stars. This invention alone allowed Terra to massively expand its influence causing hostility and warfare between other civilisations but at the same time, and more positively advancing their knowledge and alliances within the great Terran Alliance.
The Terran Alliance lasted for approximately a thousand years and had become a massive consortium of worlds in which Terra helped to instigate peace and eventually wage war as well as conquering worlds.
However it was not to last.
During that time of military expansion and from help of a race that lived nearby called the Alexandrians, Terran scientists began work on transcending their mortal corporeal existence. This led a rouge company known as "Phoenix Grace", one of the lead weapons manufacturers on Terra to develop the Serenity Virus.
The Serenity Virus was a powerful biological weapon that was able to alter Terran genetic code "forcing evolution". A lone research colony vessel, the UTS (United Terran Starship) Erika had been "appropriated" by the company in order to engage in tests of the virus on the ships inhabitants.
Captain Leviticus Valentine, an avid scientist led the ship outside of the borders of Terran space and began hideous experimentation with the virus leading to him loosing control of his ship. Rescuers attending the scene a few weeks later found only one survivor, a baby girl who appeared to have been the subject of experimentation inside the lab. The rescue team was all killed by the "evolved" Terrans who had all been mutilated by the virus apart from three who managed to escape.
Phoenix Grace worked quickly to cover up the Erika incident claiming that ship had lost control and that Valentine had disobeyed both Phoenix Grace's and the military orders to return. However the survivors managed to expose them and the surviving girl was placed in a foster family on Terra.
Unknown by Terra, a race of inter-dimensional beings called the Asgard had been closely watching the incident. They had slowly being growing fearful of Terra interfering in things that they did not truly understand.
The girl rescued from the ship, named "Kestra" became one of Terra's greatest commanders. Commanding the famed UTS Valkyrie she survived a number of encounters with the Asgard even after she learned that she was Leviticus's Valentines attempt at creating an Asgard.
However eventually the Asgard became a large threat to Terra and any attempt at a peaceful resolution was shattered. War eventually broke out. Some believed that they had a chance at winning but after the battle of the Urial Nebula the Asgard quickly laid waste to the Terran forces with technology the surpassed way beyond anything that Terra had ever seen.
The Valkyrie was involved in the final battle that took place inside Terra's atmosphere in which Terra was ultimately defeated. Both Kestra and the Valkyrie were presumed destroyed in the battle and Terra surrendered to the Asgard.
The Asgard, believing that they were protecting the "great balance of the world tree" decided to remove all technological influences from Terra and force them back into a primitive industrial state. They dismantled their remaining fleet, destroyed their technological ability and to ensure the destruction of that knowledge, wiped the memory of every Terran to make them forget about space.
That was the end...
Or so they thought but as they were yet to discover, spirit is rarely crushed.
Chapter 1 - The Last Horse
Date: 31st August 2008 (Human-Earth Years)
Location: Horizon Apartment Block - New Chentrilla City - Terra
First light was already ablaze over the skyscrapers of New Chentrilla City as seagulls filled the air with happy chirping as they scavenged for food. The city was coming to life starting to fill up with more and more cars on the road as if somebody had got a defibrillator and shocked life back into the city.
Chentrilla City had always been a home to anyone, outsider or not. The city was built on a large island surrounded by a vast crystal lake. The island itself was about seven to eight miles long and had been completely covered by the concrete pavements. Originally the Foxianna, a species of anthromorphic fox had built it in order to take shelter from the vast predators on Terra at that time.
Nowadays Chentrilla was a thriving metropolis, surrounded by docks which provided the ferry service to access the island and a subway bridge that crossed over the water onto the mainland.
From the docks of Chentrilla, all one could see was lush green hills of pasture in which the farmers grew crops to help supply the city with food. However Chentrilla was everything that you expected from a modern city and more.
Large international cargo ships came down the mouth of the river into the lake from the ocean, mooring at the city to offload goods. The city was alive at only five o'clock in the morning.
Chentrilla had long served as the centrepiece for the United Terran Government that managed all the affairs on the planet however it was home to millions and thousands of small business. It was truly a city of opportunity.
However every city has its rough areas, Harrison street was in one of these places, the buildings more run down then in the centre of the city. Harrison Street was in an outer district just near the docks, it was a glum looking street with many dirty shops all selling different types of pornography.
At the end of this street stood a particularly glum building, a run down apartment block with smashed bottom windows. Each floor had six self contained flats that different people lived in but were mostly reserved for people with low incomes or criminal records. This area was always rowdy.
An alarm with the radio went off letting out an almighty blare of rock music into the small apartment bedsit. A head poked up from the bed, a brilliant white horse's head with large cerulean blue eyes and a deep purple mane sticking out from under the covers. The horse looked tired as he rose. He got out of bed hitting the alarm to get up and knocking it clear to the ground where it smacked into two.
"Just great!" he thought as he got up from the bed, heading immediately to a packet of cigarettes laying on the bedside table. He sat back down on the bed, drawing out a cigarette and putting it to his mouth.
The fire from the lighter illuminated the room for a second, it was still mostly dark outside with the sun only just starting to rise however he could hear the constant sounds of cars which indicated to him that it was not that near daybreak.
He puffed lightly on the cigarette as he stared around the room he was in. He hated this play, his dingy flat was nowhere near a paradise and he was getting tired of seeing these four walls all the time. His entire "flat" was only one large room with a kitchen area at one end and a small "living" area that had scattered pizza boxes on the floor.
"beep, beep..." he noticed that his phone was beeping at the far side of the room, near his desk. He got up, his white body was slim and almost in line with that of a young porn star however he never would have flattered himself so. He looked young, in fact younger then he actually was. He was only twenty-one but looked about nineteen.
As he carefully navigated all the random mess on the floor of the room, he wondered why he had never got round to cleaning this mess up. His job had not kept him that busy recently and he had spent most of his days on his computer, looking for something to do. He had tried his hand a writing but somehow he suspected he had neither the patience nor the motivation to do it.
His phone was buried under mounds of paper as he sifted through them to find it, half asleep and wondering why someone would call him this early. He was lucky, his phone was still ringing when he finally discovered it and flipped it open.
"Yeah?" he asked down the phone, still recovering from his long slumber. His words sounded strange for his slightly high pitched voice, almost like his voice had been sand-papered. He felt like shit.
"Hey Diamond!" came a cheerful, gruff voice from the other end of the phone. "How is my favourite gayboi...?"
Diamond pushed his hands back through his mane in a sigh, they got slightly tangled in his unwashed hair. He instantly recognised the voice, it was one of his friends from work. A particular out going tiger called Remmy. He had a knack for having no manners.
"Rem... Wh-What the hell are you doing calling me at this hour?" he responded with a large sigh.
The phone was silent for a second and then Remmy's voice burst back on the line. "Look bruv... I didn't wanna wake ya but guess what... we found 'er.."
Diamond looked slightly confused for a moment. "Found wh--?" he asked.
Remmy just easily talked over him. "It was right where those logs told us it would be... you gotta see it... she's beau'tiful... we already found 'er name plaque or summthin... turns out.. even the name matches... Valkyrie."
As if he had received a powerful electric shock, Diamond suddenly sparked to life, his ears standing on end. "Where!?" he asked in his perfect Terran accent.
"Everonth Mountains, right by the cliff... Die? Die!?"
Diamond had already put down the phone and rushed into the bathroom, he quickly jumped in the shower, letting the water rejuvenate his spirit and almost skipped into his small room with delight. He pulled on his work clothes which was white shirt and purple tie with black trousers.
He had been working for months on this project and finally he had got a breakthrough. He worked for Phoenix Grace Development Co as cryptologist and general historian. Before he had been forced to go on leave at his managers discretion due to working too hard, they had unearthed some computer logs at some ruins in the deserts of Gia. The logs were actually schematics of a ship that broke up in orbit and crashed on Terra.
Diamond revelled in being the first to examine potentially alien technology, the first time he had got excited with his job in months. He shoved a few items in a large dufflebag and grabbed his keys as he headed to the door, not even turning to look at the rooms.
He had to examine the ruins before Remmy did and he had gotten there first. He shot out into the adjoining stairwell from his room that looked as run down as the rest of the building. The paint was falling off the wall due to the age of these buildings and there was disused elevator in the centre of the stairwell that had not been fixed for almost ten years.
"Mr Celestalis!" shouted a screechy female voice that made Diamond jump as he had almost made it to the bottom of the stairwell. He looked up and gave another large sigh.
It was his landlady, Mrs Carmichael who had called him. What was she even doing up at this time in the morning... wait... Diamond did not want to know. She was an odd vixen, she was always up really early in the morning, Diamond was almost sure that she got off on waiting for tenants to walk down unsuspectingly so that she could harass them.
"Oh hai..." smiled Diamond casually as he tried to get away from the white apron, short old brown fox behind him.
"I will be reminding you!" she shouted... her screeching and bitchy demeanour going straight threw Diamond. "You have not paid me for two now!"
Diamond thought about this, he had been in financial difficulty for years, let alone months. Work was constantly messing around with his month because of the nature of it that did not require him to work a normal nine to five job.
"I'm sorry but..." complained Diamond before he was interrupted again. He hated that, especially when old bags that needed to get laid did it. But then he thought again, who on earth would want to lay that.
Mrs Carmichael stood there, in an almost witch-like pose and Diamond seemed some tempted to laugh, tell her to fuck off... anything to get him out the door quicker. "Six tonight..." she screeched.
"Ok..." shouted Diamond as he rushed out the door, trying to leave his crazy old landlady behind. Now just was not the time for that, he could worry about that tonight.
If not... there was always tomorrow.
He raced out of the run-down apartment block into the busy street which had any number of words and occasional cursing that were flying about by the drivers of the cars. It was just getting to first light and already the streets were getting busy.
All the races of Terra were different, mostly humanoid and all animal with different evolutionary chains, occasionally a bird or hawk would fly by, shadowing the street below.
Diamond looked at the mass of cars on the road, he was decided if he should have got a taxi or not.
He hailed a yellow cab from the taxi rank a few blocks away from his apartment block. Paying the wolf taxi driver, he got in and opened his files. This was going to be a day to remember.
