Shadow of a Freelancer Ch 18.) Freedom
#19 of Shadow of a Freelancer
Sorry for the wait, here is Ch 18 of Shadow of a Freelancer.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
Rrahkarr was walking heavily; as if he was burdened with carrying a massive amount of weight, all the while rage filled his eyes. He was heading towards Severo who actually had a look of fear spread across his face; mouth agape and eyes wide. Rrahkarr had his eyes locked on those of Severo as he drew closer and closer to the one that changed his life for the worst.
"Severo..." Rrahkarr; who continued at the same pace, started in an acidic tone "You've made my life a living hell these past seven years. You've made me relive every horrible experience in my life... the near death events... and all the tragedies." Rrahkarr said; his voice filling with anger "You centered mostly on the death of my brother William; for which I will never forgive you and you focused on having me cut all attachments to my friends and remaining family. You've mentally tortured me and made me feel like everything bad that has happened to me and my family was my fault.
You've given me false hope and broke me down, all so you could take over my body and be rid of me. You've been a burden all these years and have made me weak; you've turned me into a despicable person to almost everyone that has known me long enough!" Rrahkarr yelled before adding "It's time to be rid of you."
Severo; who was in a state of fear and shock, finally found his voice and said in a cocky tone "O-Oh really, you think you can get rid of me?"
Rrahkarr didn't even respond to what Severo said, all he did was continue walking towards him. Things were definitely different; Severo even felt the fur on the back of his neck start standing on end as chills ran down his spine. Severo tried to back up but couldn't, something was keeping him from moving; it was the fear along with the fact that all the strength he had was being drained from him. With a murderous look on his face, Rrahkarr kept walking towards Severo; who decided to start talking.
"You say I made you weak? Where would you be if I wasn't here?! Anytime you had a difficult choice to make it was I who did the dirty work. When you were too scared to act on your impulses I was the one who did what you wanted to do. I overcame your fears, sorrow, pain and anxieties. I am your hate, wrath and primal instincts. It was me who overcame everything you couldn't... you'd be nothing without me!" Severo yelled at Rrahkarr who was now just a couple feet from Severo.
Rrahkarr finally stepped right up in front of Severo and stared into his eyes which had gone dull and plain. The glow that was always in Severo's eyes had left him and now resided in Rrahkarr, all the strength and will to live left Severo as well. Severo couldn't understand what was happening; how Rrahkarr was still alive and how he was able to draw himself back into this realm inside their mind. He didn't know how or what brought Rrahkarr back but the outcome wasn't going to be good.
Looking at Severo Rrahkarr said in a dead calm voice "Severo, I don't plan on getting rid of what you are, only the personality that has grown into what stands before me. As you said, you are a part of me. You are my darker side, a part of me that I had locked up long ago. When you came into me, you took on the characteristics of that darker half of me, which also brought those characteristics out in myself.
Thanks to what Zeig and Louie have told me and..." Rrahkarr stopped momentarily then continued in a more somber tone of voice "... And thanks to Sara for what she said to me. I've found what you've attached yourself to in me and I know how to get rid of you now. You no longer have the ability to be a separate entity within me; because of this I will not let you allow harm to befall my daughter... she's all I have left from Sara. I'd do anything to keep her safe and in order to do that; it's time I make myself whole again. It's time you disappear..." Rrahkarr finished then reached out and grasped Severo's throat.

Mors Mortis Transporter Room (6:40 PM)
Rrahkarr opened his eyes and was back in his body and in control. He quickly noticed the creature; the third generation bio-weapon that Patrick had made with both of their DNA, was charging Aurora with the intent to kill her. Patrick was grinning from where he stood near the Transporter as he watched the creature charge the little girl. Without thinking Rrahkarr dashed in between the creature and Aurora.
There was something in him that caused him to move faster than ever before. It was almost as if he moved faster than sound itself. He quickly reached out with his left paw and grabbed hold of the creatures left claw; which was just a few inches from Aurora's head. The creature's right claw pierced through Rrahkarr's right shoulder as he stopped in front of the creature.
His back was towards the creature but he knew he couldn't catch both claws so he used himself as a shield. Even though the creatures other claw had pierced his shoulder, Rrahkarr felt no pain from it at all. It could have been the adrenalin pumping through his veins or it could have been some other reason entirely, but he felt no pain.
Before it could react to what had happened Rrahkarr used all the strength he could and broke off most of the creatures' claw in his left paw; causing greenish blue blood to spray forth from the injury. Quickly pointing the end of the claw at the creatures' chest, Rrahkarr drove it into its carapace hide; puncturing it and embedding it there, causing the creature to scream out in pain.
The creature drew its other claw out of Rrahkarr and stepped back from the pain that was charging to its brain from its injuries. The claw that was stuck into its hide was still partially exposed and the creature was about to attempt to pull it out. However, Rrahkarr jumped up and kicked it in the same spot that the claw was at and forced it all the way into the creatures' chest; causing more blood to spew forth. Using its hand like appendages it started clawing at its chest; trying to remove the large nine inch part of its broken claw that Rrahkarr kicked into it.
Patrick's eyes widened in surprise at what had just happened, and he was thinking "Why did Severo just save the little girl?"
Before Patrick could say anything though Rrahkarr; who at the moment looked like a blood crazed animal similar to how Severo always looked, quickly grabbed hold of the creatures other claw like arm and twisted it till the bones in the arm could clearly be heard snapping throughout the room. Once the bones had been snapped Rrahkarr quickly twisted and pulled till the scythe like claw and half the arm ripped free from the creatures' body.
At this point the creature let out a high pitched blood curdling scream that made even Patrick try to block out the sound by covering his ears. All that Patrick could do was watch as Rrahkarr; who found out that the creatures own claws could easily pierce its hide, jumped up and with all his might and seeming almost like a grim reaper, decapitated the creature. Rrahkarr noticed after he decapitated the creature that the shoulder wound he received was already almost completely healed so he flexed his arm and moved his shoulder around as he prepared to attack Patrick.
Aurora; who was but a mere three feet away from the creature and Rrahkarr was waking up. She pushed herself up with her right arm and looked up just as Rrahkarr decapitated the creature. Blood spewed forth from all the injuries the creature had sustained and its head rolled from Rrahkarr's feet towards her. Some of the creatures' blood had sprayed onto her and ruined the pink tank top and faded purple skirt she was wearing.
Aurora noticed the little amount of blood on her and stared at it with curiosity; she had never seen blood that color but when she noticed all the crimson blood on Rrahkarr, she stared at him in fear. Due to the fear she didn't move or make a sound. Patrick however, was in shock. One of the reasons being that he thought that Severo had just risked his life to save the little brat of Rrahkarr's and then killed his third generation bio-weapon. He couldn't help but ask "Why did you just save her? I thought you wanted to see her die Severo?"
Aurora didn't miss hearing Patrick call Rrahkarr Severo; which startled her a little. Her mother Sara had told her many times about her real father Rrahkarr and what he looked like. But Sara also told Aurora about Severo; to stay as far away from him if someone called him that. Sara had learned of Severo from his little sister Maya a few years back after being forced to move from Earth to the recently colonized planet named Falora. Aurora slowly started scooting away from Rrahkarr; trying not to make a sound as Rrahkarr stared at Patrick.
Giving Patrick a death stare Rrahkarr said in a deadly sounding voice "I will protect her with my life if need be Patrick and if it's the last thing I ever have to do... I'll make sure you die for bringing her and Sara here to use against me."
Eyes widening and with mouth agape, Patrick said in a shocked voice "R-R-Rrahkarr?! H-How, I thought Severo had permanently taken over?"
Aurora stopped after hearing Patrick call him Rrahkarr instead of Severo. She had looked over to him when he called him Rrahkarr and was now looking back at Rrahkarr as he continued to speak.
"Severo is no more; he will never be a threat to me, my daughter or any of my family ever again." Rrahkarr said and took a step towards Patrick.
Fear overriding everything, Patrick pulled out a simple handgun that used energy rounds and aimed it at Aurora; after he noticed she was awake and moving away. "Severo may no longer be a threat but let's see if you can save her!" Patrick yelled as he started to pull the trigger, thinking Rrahkarr would use himself to block the shot like how he protected her from being killed by the bio-weapon.
He didn't even get to pull the trigger before Rrahkarr's paw landed on his arm; pushing it into any direction that was away from Aurora. Rrahkarr had grabbed Patrick's arm so hard that the bone fractured before being twisted so that Patrick would drop the gun. Rrahkarr had moved faster than ever before, even faster than Severo had moved when he thought he had regained all of the abilities that Rrahkarr had. The speed surprised Patrick, who fell to his knees.
Patrick looked directly into Rrahkarr's eyes at that point and considered them the eyes of a demon. He saw nothing but rage, pain and hate; just like Severo, in those demonic looking blue glowing eyes. Before Rrahkarr could kill the man who conspired with Severo and had Sara tortured and the reason for her death, he felt many armed guards heading his way from one of the passageways. He counted over thirty guards heading towards them.
Shots were let loose from the passageway to their left and Rrahkarr jumped back in order to dodge them. But in doing so he had to let go of Patrick who had also managed to jump back; considering the Mors Mortis guards had poor aim. Taking this chance Patrick ran up to and activated the facilities transporter and was beamed up to the Mors Mortis orbiting space station.
"NO! God damn it!" Rrahkarr yelled and punched the wall he was next to; denting it, as the guards started rushing into the room.
The guards didn't open fire on him right away, instead they started surrounding him. This is when Rrahkarr felt something tug on his leg and when he looked down he saw Aurora trying to hide behind him. She was shaking slightly as she held onto his leg. He looked up and could tell there was no way he could defend himself and her from all of them. He quickly scooped her up into his arms; staining her clothing more with blood, and pressed her against his chest to protect her from any gun fire as he charged away from the guards and down the path that Patrick, Johan and Henrik had come down.
He had managed to make it around a corner and made it a few yards down the hall before being ambushed by three of Mors Mortis's automated mech suits. The three of them blocked their escape route and aimed their large energy rifles at them. Rrahkarr tried to stop but since he wasn't wearing any footwear and his feet were covered in blood he actually started to slide on the smooth surface. The mech's weapons quickly charged as they prepared to fire.
Aurora watched in horror as they slid closer and closer to the three large metallic suits in front of them. Fear and sorrow filled her as she watched in almost classic slow motion as the energy rifles were aimed at them. Aurora didn't want to die, she had just got to finally meet her real father; and he had just risked his life saving her. She started having a severe headache as thoughts raced through her mind.
"I just got to meet my daddy and he saved me. Why did these bad people have to hurt mommy? Why do they want to hurt me and daddy? I want to be safe; I want to be with daddy... I don't want daddy to die, I don't want to DIE!"
Just as the energy rifles were about to fire, Rrahkarr tried to change direction and somehow get around the mech's but couldn't due to holding Aurora with both arms and not having anything to step on that wasn't slick or smooth. He was surprised when Aurora's ears flattened and she put her paws on her head as she screamed. Rrahkarr thought she was screaming from fear but it was actually from pain. Just as the energy rifles fired they exploded; the rounds fired were separated into harmless particles of energy, and the mech's were lifted off the ground and partially crushed before being thrown in separate directions.
Rrahkarr couldn't believe his eyes as he came to a halt while Aurora screamed her head off; her eyes having rolled back into her head. The sound of additional screams caused him to turn his head and stare at all the guards that were pursuing them. They had all stopped and dropped their weapons as the clutched at their limbs, chests, throats and heads. Rrahkarr watched as limbs and body parts were literally crushed as if under extreme pressure. Other body parts were either twisted or bent at odd angles; some ripped completely free from the body. Blood gushed and poured through where shattered bone had ripped free from flesh or where flesh had split and ripped apart as the guards were killed in horrific ways.

Mors Mortis Orbiting Space Station (6:55 PM)
"Well I'll be damned!" Patrick said as he viewed what had just happened on a monitor in the control room of the space station.
Patrick had rushed into the room to see what would befall either Rrahkarr and Aurora or the multiple guards that had rushed in. A doctor was in the room tending to his broken arm while he watched. He didn't expect to see all of the guards and those mech suits to be eliminated as easily as they were. He watched as Rrahkarr looked around himself then down at Aurora in shock.
"So... the girl does possess something after all." Patrick thought to himself as he slipped his uninjured hand into his pocket and pulled out a vile full of a crimson liquid. "Good thing I decided to keep one of her blood samples." He thought before a devilish smile formed across his face.
Patrick then decided to get rid of the McBride brothers, Aurora and Rrahkarr; the only people who would pose a problem to his plans at the moment. "Open every cell." Patrick commanded one of the control room's operators.
"Sir?" the man asked.
"You heard me, open every cell... even the bio-weapon holding pens and activate Mors Mortis' self destruct sequence." Patrick said with that evil smile of his.
"Yes sir... but without the wardens authorization codes the main computer will announce everything as unauthorized and will tell everyone to evacuate." The man said as he quickly did as Patrick had asked.
"Just do it!"

Mors Mortis Transporter Room (7:00 PM)
Aurora had finally stopped screaming when all the guards were dead and they were safe. She passed out the moment she stopped screaming; due to all her energy being drained. Rrahkarr still sat in the spot he had slit to a halt at as he looked down at the sleeping ball of fur in his arms. She was panting slightly and he could feel her heart beat pounding away.
He knew this wasn't the time or the place to be sitting. He knew he had to find a way off Mors Mortis safely and free Zeig and Louie as well as keep Aurora safe no matter the cost; something that would come to haunt him in the near future. But just sitting there holding her; there was just something that made him feel different. It wasn't a bad feeling, just one that seemed to ease and calm his war filled mind. There was something about her that eased and calmed the rage and fury in him that was once again apart of him.
He quickly yet gently stood up as to not disturb his sleeping daughter. There was something about her sleeping peacefully in his arms that put him at ease but then there was the thing that worried him; what exactly had just happened.
"Was she the one did that? But how... how could she do that?" Rrahkarr wondered.
He knew she was the one who did it. There was no one else there that could have done it. Let alone he could feel the power within her; dangerous and untamed. This was the first time he himself actually felt power within someone, it told him she was like him. That what allowed her to do what she did was from the genetic tampering the Electus had done to their ancestor Tro'nen.
That in itself confused him, he thought the genetic modifications only affected physical abilities but what she did was purely mental; almost like a person who had telekinetic abilities but it was so much more. Then it hit him "Was it this ability that made Tro'nen go insane? Could he not handle the mental stress and drain?"
Being able to feel this power within her astounded Rrahkarr but also reminded him; if he could feel her he should be able to feel Zeig and Louie. Just as he was about to see if he could sense them, alarms started going off and he could feel many, many people start moving around all over Mors Mortis.
The PA speakers came on a moment later and a pre-programmed voice; clearly from a computer, said "Alert, Alert! Unauthorized openings of cells in cell blocks one through three hundred. Warning, Warning! Unauthorized opening of bio-weapon holding pens one through five, nine, thirteen, fifteen through twenty eight and thirty one.
Emergency, Emergency! Self destruct sequence initiated T-minus twenty minutes till self detonation. Evacuation, Evacuation! All personnel please evacuate the facility. Error, Error! Bulkhead failure..." The computer said and continued listing areas where bulkheads and other doors wouldn't open.
"Holy fuck... you've got to be kidding me. Where are you two?" Rrahkarr said and started concentrating on locating Louie and Zeig. It only took him a moment and he opened his eyes in surprise and looked further down the corridor as he heard gunfire.
"When did they get out of that cell? Wait... shit, are they under attack?" Rrahkarr thought when he heard a scream from something that wasn't a fur or a human.
Louie and Zeig were under attack, but by some of the freed bio-weapons. Louie looked like he was hurt with the way he was holding his shoulder and Zeig was covering him by firing an energy rifle. Rrahkarr knew they didn't heal nowhere close to as fast as he did and that they could both easily bleed out if they took too many injures.
Rrahkarr quickly and gently sat Aurora down and leaned her against a wall before pulling out a couple of the blades that Severo had taken from the guards he killed. "I may have gotten rid of Severo... but it looks like something rubbed off on me from him." Rrahkarr thought as he stood up; a small smile forming on his muzzle as he spun the blades around his fingers.
Rrahkarr then charged down the corridor at top speed and surprised himself when he easily killed two of the five bio-weapons chasing Louie and Zeig; all five of them being the first generation bio-weapons. He simply stabbed them in the head and continuing to cut as he ran between them which sliced both of the bio-weapons open spilling blood and internal organs. The three remaining bio-weapons changed direction and tired to overpower him by attacking him at once.
To him their actions where slow and sluggish, Rrahkarr easily sidestepped one before impaling one of the blades into its brain. The second one he caught and threw as hard as he could into a wall; which brought him into a more advantageous position for the third one as he brought his elbow down onto its skull knocking it unconscious.
Before the second one could get up, Rrahkarr quickly leaned down and snapped the neck of the third before jumping towards the last remaining one and landing on its back. It tired to kick Rrahkarr off of its back and the scene looked like one of the old rodeo bull rides. Louie and Zeig who noticed Rrahkarr pass them and easily start killing the bio-weapons were in awe, but were also on guard; not knowing if this was truly Rrahkarr or Severo.
It eventually wore itself out and Rrahkarr killed it easily before looking up to Louie and Zeig. Both of them had their eyes locked on those of Rrahkarr; their green eyes glowing fully as Rrahkarr's eyes glowed blue. A smile formed across Rrahkarr's face as he said "So, how did you two get out of that cell?"
"Are you Rrahkarr... or are you Severo!?" Zeig demanded.
"Hey easy it's me; Severo will no longer be a threat." Rrahkarr quickly answered before passing them both up and heading back to Aurora.
"Hey where are you going... whoa...?" Zeig said and stopped when he noticed all the dead guards lying about. "What happened here?" Zeig asked.
"Who is that Rrahkarr?" Louie asked as Rrahkarr picked Aurora back up.
Rrahkarr had a weak smile as he said "She's... my daughter, and she's what happened here."
"What!?" both Louie and Zeig said in unison with surprise clearly evident in the voices.
"She's the one who killed all these guards after I killed that thing." Rrahkarr said; pointing at the decapitated body of the third generation bio-weapon. They weren't surprised that Rrahkarr had killed yet another type of Patrick's bio-weapons but they were surprised and wanted answers to how all the guards died.
"But how did she kill all of them?" Zeig asked.
"I'm not sure... she just started screaming and held onto her head. The next thing I knew those three wreaked mech suits over there..." Rrahkarr said pointed at them as well "were crushed and then all these guards were killed in painful ways before she passed out. All of this was after I retook control from Severo."
They accepted that answer and it was a few seconds later that Zeig asked "I could feel you when you were put in a GMP holding cell... a little while later I felt Severo instead... what happened in that cell Rrahkarr?"
"Well... during some of those times that I was taken from the cell we were all in, Patrick managed to speak with Severo a few times. He told them what would make me crack..." Rrahkarr said and explained everything that happened so far today as fast as he could.
"We're so sorry Rrahkarr..." They both said after he finished.
"Don't apologize... it wasn't your faults, besides... we're not safe until we leave Mors Mortis and its orbiting space station." Rrahkarr said.
"And how do you plan on getting through the defenses on the space station?" Louie asked.
"Rrahkarr grinned as he said "Here, take her for a while." As he gently handed Aurora over to Louie.
Louie took her and held her gently as Rrahkarr turned around and started walking to the Transporter. "Where are you goin?" Louie asked as Rrahkarr walked away.
"Believe it or not... just a little while ago there was a large hole in my shoulder and as you can see it's healed. I have all my abilities back and at full power, which means I heal a hell of a lot faster than either of you... almost within a few seconds." Rrahkarr told them as he headed towards the Transporter.
"What are you planning on doing!?" Zeig yelled.
"I'm going to charge through the space station until I find the control room and deactivate its defenses." Rrahkarr said as if it was a trivial matter.
"You're fucking crazy; the weapons on the space station will tear you apart." Zeig said harshly.
"Possibly, and I know it's a stupid idea but we don't have a choice and it's not like... hang on" Rrahkarr said and thought of something before continuing with "it may be a long shot but... do you know if they keep everything they take off of incoming prisoners? Such as personal items, clothing and the like?" Rrahkarr asked.
"Yeah, they keep everything and throw it into the acquisitions room." Louie answered; wondering what Rrahkarr had on his mind.
"Where is the acquisitions room?"
"Um... on this level where new arrivals come in at, why?" Louie asked.
"Where exactly?"
"Back in the corridor we just came out of. We passed the room on our way here... we would have stopped there and pick something of ours up but as you can see we couldn't do that." Zeig answered with a little frustration in his voice.
"I'll be right back." Rrahkarr said before charging down the hall as fast as he could.
Rrahkarr turned the corner and found the room Louie was speaking of. When he opened the door he stared in disbelief at how large the room was. It stretched so far that the wherever the farthest end was, was pitch black where the lights were turned off to save energy. He quickly started looking down the rows and soon found a section for armor and combat gear.
There was so much there he couldn't help but think "uh wow... lots of choices."
He started looking through them all and soon came to a shelf where three sets of combat gear were sitting. They were the only items here so far that were in complete sets but only one drew his attention. That one being his black Freelancer power armor and he couldn't help but smile. It was a little dusty to say the least; four years of just sitting there did a number on it and when Rrahkarr blew the dust off it caused him to sneeze several times.
He also noticed that the other two sets sitting there were older generation Freelancer power armor. He wiped some of the dust that had built up on them away where the name of the Freelancer was titled on the armor and found the names Alpha and Omega on them. He smiled as he knew who the owners of the armor were. Alpha's armor was mostly gray with red and black while Omega's was gray with blue and black.
After looking at those two other armors he wasted no time getting into his old armor. Even though he was covered in blood he still got into it; he could always clean it out later. He found his armor just barely fit. "Great, I'll have to get it modified for the extra muscle." He thought as he powered the armor up. He quickly tested it out and found it to work great. He then quickly opened a device that was attached to the left arm and pressed in a numeric code. After it was entered it beeped twice before falling silent.
"Ok... once we're out of here she'll easily find us... assuming she hasn't been destroyed or dismantled." He said to himself as he looked around.
He found a nearby bag large enough to fit both of the other armors in it and after grabbing it he then put the armors into it. He then decided to see if his armor worked well under the extreme speeds his body could move at now by running as fast as he could back to where Louie, Zeig and Aurora were while carrying the other two armors.
It only took him a moment to get back to them and he slowed down as he neared them; no need to waste his energy after all. Zeig and Louie were both surprised; when he came back wearing that armor and carrying a large bag filled with something. They could tell he looked like a completely different fur while in that suit. His pure black armor with 'SHADOW' labeled on the front and black fur matched so well it gave the illusion of a living shadow.
"Wow... I see why your Freelancer name was Shadow." Louie said.
"So that's what the latest Freelancer power armor looks likes." Zeig said.
"Yeah and it still works great... oh and by the way" Rrahkarr said as he threw the bag at Zeig who barely caught it "How about you two suit up."
Zeig dumped the armors out of the bag and both Louie and Zeig were surprised. They looked up at Rrahkarr as he walked past them and headed towards the transporter. While passing some of the dead guards Rrahkarr slowed and picked up a couple of their guns and made sure to pick up extra rounds before he slug the guns on his back. When he was just a foot from the transporter pad control device he turned around.
"I trust you two to watch out for my daughter while I take out the security grid on the space station." He said in a calm voice before he turned around and looked at the activation device. Finding the right button he pressed it then looked back at them "You may want to put on those suits of armor before more of the guards come. Feel free to strip the dead of their weapons; they won't need them anymore." He added in a cold tone before he walked onto the transporter pad and was teleported away.
Just as he was teleported to the space station, the facilities computer came on over the PA speakers again and said "You now have T-minus ten minutes to reach minimum safe distance."
"I hope he doesn't get killed up there." Zeig said.
"Hey come on, we have to trust him. I mean hell, he's trusting us to watch out for his daughter while he's gone; the least we can do is trust in him." Louie said to his brother.

Mors Mortis Orbiting Space Station (7:13 PM)
Rrahkarr was expecting weapons fire from the moment he stepped onto the transporter pad. He expected he'd get hit a few times and that his power armor would take the brunt of it. He didn't expect the oncoming fire to be this fierce. If it wasn't for his power armor he would have been dead in the first second he stepped foot on the space station.
The room that he teleported into was much like the room he had just left except that there were many automated sentry guns placed everywhere; walls, floor, ceiling and further down the walls on the corridor that connected to this room. He barely managed to protect his head with his arms before they were pelted with massive amounts of energy rounds.
He had only been there for a second and had already been hit over ninety times; with the wall behind him being hit more times than he could count. Acting as fast as he could; Rrahkarr kept his head covered as he charged down the corridor. It took him ten seconds to get to the end of it and jump to the side so that guns couldn't hit him, yet he was hit well over three hundred times before he made it to the end. His armor had it and was almost completely trashed. Sparks were arcing out of it and he could smell smoke from where the wires had fried from the power overload.
"Huh... guess I won't have to modify it. Instead I get to re-make it...oh." Rrahkarr said sarcastically to himself as he stood up and groaned.
Bits and pieces of his armor fell off as he stood; while other parts had holes in them. There was a slight blood flow from several areas where the rounds had made it to his body but those wounds were already healing. That didn't stop the fact that his wounds hurt like hell and Rrahkarr showed the pain as he limped for a few moments as he headed down the hall.
Shadow stopped and quickly caught his breath then calmed down as he opened up his senses. He could smell Patrick's scent and he could feel around fifty people onboard the station. They were all heading to the same place and Rrahkarr could tell instantly where and what this place was when over half the people suddenly started moving at a face pace away from the station.
"Shit, there in the hanger bay... I got to hurry otherwise they may sabotage the other ships!" Rrahkarr thought to himself.
Rrahkarr looked down the hall and noticed a sign that gave directions. It said that both the control room and the hanger bay were both in the same directions. "Well it helps they're both in the same direction." Rrahkarr said and hurried down the hall as fast as he could.

Mors Mortis Transporter Room (7:16 PM)
"You now have T-minus seven minutes to reach minimum safe distance." The main computer said again.
Louie had found a spot to place Aurora where she would be hidden and protected from any enemy fire; he had placed her where two of the automated mech's had crashed together. It was that same spot that both Louie and Zeig; who both had put on their old power armor and found them to be a tight fit, defended.
The way the mech's crashed together formed a partial barrier and also provided adequate cover for both of them and young Aurora of who they were charged with keeping safe. It wasn't long till the first of the remaining Mors Mortis guards started showing up.
"Shit... I'm glad the bulkheads to the cell blocks didn't open." One of the guards said as he followed several others.
"Yeah, if it wasn't for that the inmates would have overrun us and..." Another guard started saying but stopped as he and the others stared at the blood filled room before them.
"What the hell happened here?" one guards asked.
"Is that one of those creatures Mr. Territh brought with him?" another asked as he pointed at it.
"Hey there are five more things like that over here in the other corridor!" another guard from a different group yelled as they entered the room from the way Louie and Zeig came.
"Who cares let's just get the hell out of here. Activate your IFF and prepare to head to the space station." Another guard yelled.
"You now have T-minus five minutes to reach minimum save distance." The computer announced on the PA speakers just a moment after the last guard yelled.
Louie however heard what the guards said and asked "Zeig did you hear that."
"Hear what?" Zeig asked.
"I swear I wish you paid more attention to the things the enemy says. One of the guards said they have IFF systems on them." Louie told him.
"And... what does IFF mean?"
Louie's eye started twitching when Zeig said so Louie hit him in the back of his head "You idiot, IFF stands for Identification, Friend or Foe. This means the automated defense systems on the space station use IFF to establish who and who not to fire at."
"Oh I get it, so all we have to do is kill this bunch and take what identifies them as friend and we can walk right through the station right?" Zeig asked as he prepared to open fire.
"Yeah" Louie said as Zeig stood up and opened fire at several of the guards ahead of him.
Louie added support fire for him and they managed to kill off the guards thanks to the element of surprise. They both reloaded their weapons before Louie left the safety of cover and started checking bodies for the IFF system that the guards supposedly held.

Mors Mortis Space Station Hanger Bay (7:21 PM)
There were several medium sized transports capable of jumping into hyperspace docked within the hanger bay. On the far left side of the hanger was a passageway that led to the large ex-cruise line ship, but the ship that drew the most attention within the hanger bay was the small and sleek transport that most of the space station personnel were boarding.
There were a few security personnel going from each of the other ships docked there; most likely disabling the ships. Rrahkarr had just entered the hanger and was hiding at the entrance; his back against the wall as he peeked around the corner to see what was going on.
"So they are disabling the ships... and they're about to do the same with the last one too." Rrahkarr thought as his grip tightened on the grip of the energy rifle.
Looking around the corner and using his ability to sense where any and every person was in the area, Rrahkarr made a mental count of all the people who remained. After he did that he was able to locate Patrick which made his eyes goes wide. Patrick was already onboard the small sleek transport and the transport was powering up.
"Fuck... if I don't hurry he'll get away!" Rrahkarr thought and rolled around the corner and charged forward towards the few security personnel who were about to board the last transport and disable it.
Rrahkarr aimed the rifle at the security and opened fire on them; hitting them multiple times before they fell to the floor. Some of the personnel of the space station who were not trained in fighting screamed before charging towards the smaller transport. Rrahkarr opened fire on them as well; not sparing a single person as he headed towards the transport with fire burning in his eyes.
The pilots of the transport noticed the armored up wolf charging them so they started an emergency liftoff and closed the ramp to the ship. The ship started lifting off as Rrahkarr continually fired at the ship with no success. The ship slipped out of the hanger bay through its protective shielding and increased in speed till it blinded in with the distant stars.
"NO!" Rrahkarr yelled as he threw the rifle to the floor. "I swear I'll hunt you down and kill you Patrick. You have to pay for your crimes... just like Delta" Rrahkarr swore.
Rrahkarr drew the gun still on his back before heading toward another corridor that led to the stations control room. He was about to exit the hanger when someone yelled his name from the other side.
"Rrahkarr, we only have a few minutes left we need to leave now!" Zeig yelled as both he and Louie; who carried Aurora, charged from the corridor Rrahkarr came from.
Confused Rrahkarr quickly went towards the only transport that would operate and pointed at it to let them know to head towards it. They boarded it before Rrahkarr did but he was only a couple seconds behind them. Both Rrahkarr and Zeig headed towards the small bridge of the ship and started up the systems.
While they quickly ran through everything that needed to be activated Louie entered the bridge and said "I found an empty room and laid your daughter on the bed in there."
"Thanks for watching her... but how the hell did you all get past the security system?" Rrahkarr asked as he hit the last button needed and sat at the helm and started the ships engines up.
"The system used an IFF to establish targets. We learned this from some guards who were talking so we took their IFF's and easily walked through the defense systems." Louie told him.
"Well that would have helped me when I went through there... as you can tell by what's left of my armor." Rrahkarr said as the transport lifted off the ground and went through the protective shielding.
With Rrahkarr at the helm the ship quickly gained speed and easily weaved in and out between asteroids of the asteroid field. Moments later there was a large explosion from the planet and not a second later the station also blew up. The explosion on the planet was so large it could be seen from space and the crater left behind was well over five hundred miles in diameter.
The ship continued weave through the asteroids until they exited the field where they were fairly safe. For Rrahkarr, four years in hell were over but to Louie and Zeig; whose freedom had been taken for over a hundred years was finally returned to them. They rejoiced as they breathed free air for the first time since they had been imprisoned.
"So Rrahkarr, where are you planning on going now?" Zeig asked in a happy tone of voice; for the first time since Rrahkarr had met him.
"Well, first I have to find a safe place to keep Aurora hidden before I go and hunt Delta and Patrick down." Rrahkarr said.
"We won't be able to go with you... well, not right away at least." Louie said.
"Where will you be going?" Rrahkarr asked as he leaned back in the chair he sat in.
"There are a few... personal things we need to do. Family related... I think you know what that's like." Zeig said in a somber voice.
"I understand... but I have to go check and see if my sister is alright. Sara and Aurora were on the same world she and my foster parents moved to. In a little bit you can actually have this ship because..." Rrahkarr was saying when the proximity alarm went off.
Zeig checked the sensors then yelled. "There's a ship inbound... its weapons are active!"
