"What the hell was that thing?" Jake asked as he panted, mostly talking to himself as the shrinking team re-grouped far from the dinosaur.

Panting, Jayden replied "I'm not sure, it was huge and some kind of Carcharodontosaurid"

"Giganotosaurus? Mapusaurus?" Jake questioned

Jayden nodded "one of those two"

Jake took a deep breath to stop his panting "I'm gonna say Mapusaurus, its a far guess"

"Jayden" a member of the team stepped forwards, he did not sound happy "I'm beginning to think we are unprepared and under-powered"

Jayden looked up at him, nervous and unsure of how to reply.

He smirked "so, say it, I know we are, you know we are, admit it, tell us why we are so unprepared"

"Yes, we are unprepared..." Jayden reluctantly replied "And I'm sorry about that... I never wanted anyone or anything to get hurt, I was hoping it would be like a safari where we stick to our path and everything gives us the space we need"

"One small problem with that plan, these animals don't have the instinctual fear of people than most animals do"

"I know that... Now." Jayden replied, hanging her head.

Matt stepped up and put his arm around Jayden. The team mate opened his mouth to say something but Jake stepped in and cut him off "I'm no better, here I am with a double rifle in my backpack but I wouldn't use it because I didn't want to hurt anything, and... I'm a little afraid of the recoil" he reached into his backpack and pulled out a large double barreled rifle, he opened it up and loaded it and looked at Gena.

Gena smiled and pulled a smaller double rifle from her backpack she sighed and loaded it.

"Everyone else, I suggest you do the same, get your guns ready, they might not be much, but even if they slow an attack or scare it off, thats better than nothing" Jake explained and the team started doing such.

A crack caught Jayden's attention and she looked up to see a Coelophysis only a few feet away in the trees. She locked eyes with it and it froze "right in front of me" she said "theres one right in front of me"

The team mate that just told Jayden off stepped forwards with his shotgun and fired a shot, taking the dinosaur in the chest, it hissed and spun to run, it only made a few steps before he fired again and it dropped. The pack of Coelophysis suddenly became visible, no less than a dozen of them scattered, they had the team surrounded and no one noticed until they fired the shot.

Jayden started shaking and Matt moved to give her a hug to calm her down.

After a few minutes, Jayden calmed down enough to move along and the the team started to continue their hike. Behind them, the pack of Coelophysis moved in and started eating the fallen member of their pack.

They didn't get very far this day, and they soon set up camp just off the game trail and finally, for once the team was able to sleep with no interruption in the night. Morning came around and everyone was feeling a lot better having had a full nights sleep and the team continued on their way.

After some walking, the team found where the Mapusaurus has killed a Edmontosaurus and was still feeding. One of her chicks growled and stepped away from the carcass and raced towards the team, but they recognized it as a mock charge and stood their ground. The Chick stopped a few feet away and roared at the team, snapping at the air.

Thump. The team looked up. Thump. The mother stepped over the carcass and started charging, the team knew there was no way she could stop in time, they knew this was no bluff.

Jake raised his gun and turned off the safety. Click. Click. And he jumped off the trail. Gena took aim. Click. Click. And dove after Jake, their bullets flew from their pockets as they jumped.

She missed the team and spun to face them, by now they had their guns ready and opened fire, the little AR rounds and shotgun blasts hardly left a scratch on the dinosaur as it ripped through the team, not hunting, but to stop the threat, she snapped her jaws wildly, easily taking out a few team mates as another got kicked and crushed. The remainder of the team followed Jake and Gena into the woods.

"What the hell happened to our bullets!?" Jake shouted, demanding an explanation.

Jayden started crying "I heard them last night, I should have stopped them, its my fault"

Jake looked at her confused and walked over, saying much calmer now "I heard him last night, he said that he was going to take the bullets from your guns so you can't hurt any dinosaurs" she sniffed, trying to stop crying.

"Who, Jayden?" Jake asked and she pointed out at the trail at the man who got crushed.

"it's okay" Jake said as he felt his pockets "I'm not mad at you, but I'm furious at him!"

Jayden almost smiled "I saw your other bullets, they fell out of your pockets, they are in the middle of the trail"

Jake looked and could see the brass shining up in the mud "okay, we need to get them"

"I'll do it" Jayden said.

"What? no!" Matt grabbed her and held her tight "you can't go out there, you'll get killed!"

She fought to wiggle from his grasp "I can do it, I'm the smallest of anyone here, cover me in mud, they'll never notice me"

"Your crazy, Jayden!" Matt exclaimed "I will not let you go out there!"

Jayden looked at Jake and Gena, who knew she was right, shes the best chance at getting the bullets and the only one really willing to try it. Gena stepped over and practically pulled Matt off of Jayden "Hey, Matt, listen to me, lets have a little talk, ok?"

Matt nodded and the two started to talk, but it was all a distraction, Jake walked over to Jayden and leads her to a mud puddle quietly.

In just a minute, Jayden was covered in mud without Matt even noticing and was crawling on her belly towards the bullets laying in the ground. it was slow and tiring, she wasn't used to doing anything like this. "You ever feel like something is watching you?" She remembered Jake telling her "well that feeling is usually right and dinosaurs get it too... Don't stare at them"

She glanced at them to make sure they where still eating but quickly turned her attention to the bullets again, slowly crawling forwards. "The bigger ones are mine, the slightly smaller ones are Gena's, so try to get a fair few of both" she remembered him saying as she got to the scattered bullets. She grabbed the bigger ones and was immediately surprised, she could only fit two or three in her hand because they where so big around, fortunately her safari outfit had lots of pockets.

2... 5... 7... She counted out as she picked them up and decided thats enough of the big ones and moved to the smaller ones, she could just hold four of them in her hand.

3... 4... 8... She counted out as she picked them up and stuffed her pockets. She looked at the rest but knew she had no space for them and recurrently turned around. She glanced at the dinosaurs and let out a sigh. They where settling down to rest as they had just eaten. She crawled on her belly back towards the trees.

"I'm sorry mom, but Jayden won't go out there and thats that!" Matt said as he marched towards where he left Jayden.

Jake looked back at Matt and tried to block his view of Jayden "oh, she had to go into the woods to pee"

Matt had already seen her and rushed over, Jake grabbed him and covered his muzzle "Quiet, quiet!" Jake hissed as he struggled to restrain his son. Jayden crawled as fast as she could back into the trees before getting up and walking over to Jake, who let Matt go.

"How could you send her out there like that!" Matt exclaimed.

Jayden payed no attention to him and presented the bullets to Jake. "I'm so sorry about all of this Jake"

Jake pulled out a cloth and cleaned the bullets carefully before looking to make sure they aren't damaged in any way. "Jayden, you have no need to apologize to me, your a good person with good intentions, and like me, you occasionally have a bad idea"

Jayden blushed a little "well, would it be a bad idea to stop to rest and so I can get this mud off?"

Jake looked around and out to the dinosaurs "I think we can do that"
