#163 of Short Stories

A crow cooked dinner, but nature balked.

~ The crow regarded the flickering of the overhead lights, clinging all the more firmly to the flashlight in her hands. The corgi keeping her company in the basement perked an ear to listen as the sirens spun back up into their blaring, "..Yeah, still going."

~ A sickly pink glow came down from the sky to the heavy frosted glass blocks that made for the windows to the basement, the storm crying out above.

~ The corgi patted the crow on the shoulder, "Sorry that tornado alarms interrupted the dinner you'd just finished making right after I got home. You can try again tomorrow, if tonight's gets too cold to eat by the time it's safe."

~ With her posture relaxing somewhat, the crow leaned into the patting. "Yeah.. yeah. I just tried so hard, you know. Oh, but it'll have to be next week."

~ Confusion upon the corgi's face, with no reply.

~ Beak nodding with confession, "Yeah.. I ran the produce department out of peppers."

~ The corgi began to worry.
