The two found a table to sit at the nearest tavern, which was respectable, if a bit rustic. The two leant their weapons on a nearby support beam and sat down. Skyclaw wasn't particularly heavy, as he thought himself, but the chairs groaned in agony as even he placed his weight upon it.

The tiger-wolf quickly, if a bit hesitant at first, pulled the top half of his helm off, sighing to be free of the metal prison. He pushed the leather strap of the lower half back so that it hung off his neck, and the dark purple mail coif slid off his head. Lexiss, however, did no such thing, keeping their helm on and continued looking at Skyclaw with an odd fascination.

"Care to.... enlighten me on what an Overvoided is?" Lexiss proposed.

Skyclaw leant back in his chair, the wood once again creaking, "An Overvoided is..... well, was a Void Knight, where the amethyst on their sword shattered and the shards dug themselves into them, becoming the conduit for Void. They soon start lashing out with the dark magic that I use, but now with no consequence," Skyclaw explained.

"What do you mean 'now with no consequence'?"

"Whenever we Void Knights use Void, it takes away a small part of our blood to power itself. What about Bright? Is it the same?"

Lexiss bounced their head from side to side, looking upwards, thinking, "Using Bright makes us weary. You know that we use Bright to enhance the strength of ourselves or others, but constantly drains us of energy. We do have Hyperbrights, those who can constantly enhance without becoming exhausted," Lexiss explained.

Skyclaw nodded, understanding what Lexiss was telling him, "So merely opposites. We debilitate and you boon."

Lexiss shifted in their chair, the wood groaning again, "Why do you ask, Skyclaw?"

"In my training, we didn't have any manuscripts on Bright Knights specifically."

"Oh. In mine, we only had one such manuscript, so I thought that you had one as well."

Skyclaw dismissed Lexiss' statement with a wave. The Void Knight stood and looked outside, seeing the sun descending behind the rooftops of the city. When he turned back to Lexiss, they were resting their head on their paw.

"I'll resume my duty in the morrow. If you want to join me, you can. If not, then no dishonour to you," Skyclaw informed, grabbing the top half of his helm and heading towards the rooms, paying for his on the way past with the key.

Lexiss smirked underneath their helm, ordering a tankard of the sweeter ale, "That I will join you, oh so dull Void Knight," Lexiss said, removing the top half of their helm to free their fur once again.

Skyclaw woke up from a nightmare. Not as bad as before, and he hasn't woken up sweating since training. In the manuscripts, it is a known phenomenon with using Void.

The tiger-wolf looked to the shed armour, specifically at the back of the breastplate, seeing the skeletal hands crossed possessively over the crossguard, as if in death. The skull behind the hilt grinned soullessly at him, attempting to unnerve him enough to make a mistake.

He got out of bed and changed into the clothes needed for him wearing the armour for a long time, and started the laborious process of getting it on himself.

When he managed to get it all on, finishing with the upper helm, he grabbed his halberd and made his way to the common room, seeing Lexiss relaxing there, who just placed their upper helm back in their head, causing Skyclaw to mentally curse once.

"You coming, Lexiss?" Skyclaw asked, seeing the Bright Knight's twinblade resting on the table.

"Oh, beloved dark knight, of course I will join you in your quest, if I get a reward," Lexiss answered, but Skyclaw couldn't quite catch the wink that Lexiss followed with.

"Good. Grab your weapon, we're leaving now." With it said, Skyclaw immediately spun and walked towards the door with practiced purpose.

He caught the sound of creaking wood and scraping metal, telltale signs that Lexiss stood up.

'You won't run from me, Leon. I will find you,' Skyclaw thought as he went out into the open streets, looking as the sun crested the eastern rooftops.

Voided Traveller: Chapter 5

The pair walked into a village. Well, of what remained of one. The few houses that were there lay broken, beams no longer where they should be and holes here and there. Graves could be seen lining the front of each house, so someone has been...

Voided Traveller: Chapter 3

He finally gained enough money to pay off the healer-priestesses, with enough to spare. Not to mind that it took many weeks for it all. He held the three gold coins in his paw, and he marched in, shocking those tending to the wounded within. Skyclaw...

Voided Traveller: Chapter 2

Skyclaw looked at the bounty board, wearing his dark knight armour as if it's a second skin, the upper half of his helm balancing on the spear tip of his halberd whilst the lower half was hanging from the axe by the strap, the haft planted firmly on...
