Chapter 9 - Training to Battle
Chapter 9 - Training to Battle
The next few days passed rather un-eventfully, the boys began to wonder if these effects were even going to be an issue. The blood-lust they experienced seemed to only be an issue in battle.
Even training wasn't that hard...
"Skye, look out!" Lucas warned, leaving Skye just enough time to dodge one of Alex's balls of fire.
"Thanks," Skye thought as he moved into a flanking position over the other team.
Lucas followed Skye and Ryan, moving onto a cliff face with a large precipice which stuck over the battle field.
"Ryan, get ready, were going to go in hot, Lucas will have our backs," Skye thought to his brother and fellow team mate.
"Got it!" Ryan replied, as he dodged a bullet.
"In position," Lucas reported, sighting his sniper rifle on the enemy base.
"Go!" Skye thought to his team.
There were two blurs which raced into the building in the middle of the field; one was Skye, the other Ryan, and Lucas sighting in on their weak spots as they entered.
"He's in here somewhere," thought Skye.
"I know, just watch out, Spencer and Evan are around here somewhere," Ryan replied.
Ryan took a small step forwards; as he lifted his foot, he heard a soft clicking sound. As soon as he heard it he jumped forwards, the floor tile beneath him erupting behind him.
"Are you okay?" Skye asked.
"Yeah, pressure plate, they went all out," Ryan replied standing up, he watched with interest as the gash in his arm sealed over as it healed.
Skye slipped into a larger room, there sitting in the middle of the room strapped to a chair was Josh.
"Got him, main room is over here," Skye reported.
As Skye made his way into the room, there was a rumbling, it wasn't anything to be worried about, just cautious.
The floor beneath Skye's feet suddenly exploded into a flurry of shrapnel, the floor was rigged.
Skye looked around, he knew Alex, he knew the rest of his team, they were waiting; and then it came, a bright blast of green light, Evan.
Skye dodged the eruption of static electricity, hopping onto one of many stone statues that littered the room.
"You think it's that easy?" Another voice called. It was Spencer, and following his voice a blast of dark flames shot across the room at Skye, who quickly forced a bubble of air to harden into a shield.
"I hoped it wouldn't be easy!" Skye smirked as he spun in a quick circle, pulled his arms to his chest and then thrust them out, spraying white flames across the room.
Spencer shielded himself with a wall of black flames as Alex tucked under the wall levelling a rifle at Skye.
"Got you!" Alex said triumphantly as he sighted on Skye's throat.
"No I've got you!" Ryan said before he plucked Alex off the ground and surrounded him with a similar vortex of golden flames.
Spencer levelled his own rifle and shot three rounds, one hit Skye another Ryan and one missed Skye's face just enough to graze his lip.
As Skye and Ryan's blood began to flow, the boy's senses began to change.
"Get ready!" Skye smirked as his fangs dropped from his gums, his wounds flash healing.
Spencer and his team dropped to all fours, seconds later erupting into a ball of fur as they shifted into their werewolf forms. Skye, Ryan, and Lucas who now was standing in the door way now all donned their fangs, their eyes half lidded and their senses pin pointing everything in the room.
The true battle as about to start, and it was going to be fast.
Skye lunged at Alex, who leapt aside, as Spencer pounced at Ryan, they began sparing in a blur of speed, each knowing just where the other's hands or claws would be.
Skye blocked one of Alex's bites with a fist to his solar plexus, which left him slightly off guard enough for Alex to thrust his hind leg into Skye's knee, knocking him backwards.
Skye leapt forwards quickly enough to dodge the stomp Alex almost delivered to his throat and quickly bit his throat, his fangs injecting enough paralysing venom to cause Alex to slouch to his knees.
Ryan on the other hand wasn't faring so well, he was quickly being double teamed as Evan and Spencer pounced at him, he was dodging his best but with Lucas lying on the floor beside him knocked out by Spencer's own toxins from his claws.
Skye was on Spencer in a flash, his teeth quickly breaking his skin on his neck, as he injected some of his own venom, Spencer managed to claw his cheek, the wound instantly went numb and bleed freely.
As Spencer dropped to the ground Skye to collapsed, the skin colour around his wound was quickly turning blue, and it was spreading down his neck.
Ryan managed to get close enough to Skye to give him a shot of adrenaline as he ran over to Josh, who was un-conscious in the chair. The straps holding him were nothing to Ryan as he ripped them off, and threw Josh over his shoulder, he looked at Skye who was now standing and watched him grab Lucas and sling him over his shoulder, they walked clear of the room and into the field.
A loud air horn erupted across the bright field as soon as Skye's team stepped onto their base starting plate. The round was over.
The field quickly returned to a dark black marble floor, the rooms disappearing and returning to normal, the training room then light up when the bright arena lights above them turned on.
Becka walked across the floor towards them, since the floor acted as a holo-pad she was now free to interact with the teams.
Serena walked over to Spencer's team, handing them a med pack and they quickly were back on their feet, and then took a knee to listen to her.
Skye injected Josh and Lucas with the antidotes and they soon were back up on their feet listening to Becka as she explained how to better do their job.
"That wasn't bad guys," Serena said as she walked into the middle of the room, "round two begins tomorrow morning, eight am sharp!"
"Aww," Evan pouted, "I wanted to sleep in!"

As Skye walked off the battle field, Spencer walked along side him, "That was a good bite!" Spencer said rubbing his neck.
"You're telling me, look at how fast your claw nearly knocked me out," Skye laughed as he threw his arm around Spencer's shoulder.
"I can't wait to get some Draconians down like that!" Spencer laughed.
"Yeah, would be nice to one-hit down them!" Skye joked.
The boys walked back into their common room, they looked at the area around them, an entire deck had been set aside for them and their morph battles, upgrades and equipment checks, the walls were lined with lockers containing every weapon they could imagine, even though their best weapons were themselves, they had to have a normal appearance on the planets they visited.
"Looks like you might get your chance sooner than later!" Becka's voice cracked over the com, "were detecting a distress call from a planet nearby, they've got some issues with the draconian, apparently a small group of cruisers has set down on their planet, they're trying to get some new recruits."
"Then let's go!" Skye replied, a huge grin spreading across his face.
"Aye!" Becka replied, humour filling her voice.

The Thunder slipped gracefully out of slip space a mere thousand kilometres away from the planet, from this distance the planet could easily be seen, it was a lot like Earth. Oceans, land masses and what looked like rings of volcanoes, it defiantly was habitable.
"We're approaching now, prepare to teleport down." Serena replied.
Skye and the rest of Black team were ready, along with Spencer and his newly created Silver team, an ironic twist to monument of werewolves being weak against silver. They each were holding a P-90 and small dispensable shield, wearing their typical shock impact armour, black, no real details and the unmistakable transparent masks which could easily become opaque and a projector screen.
"We're ready, whenever you are!" Skye replied.
"Lucas we need you to stay here and help us with something okay?" Becka asked.
"Aww man, really? Lucas asked.
"Sorry, it'll be quick then you can go down, okay?" Becka asked.
"Fine, you guys go ahead," Lucas replied walking away from the pad.
There was a loud pop, followed by the usual green light surrounding the group of boys as they felt themselves dissolved from the deck of the ship only to reappear a few seconds later.
***
The sun was just beginning to set on the planet when a small clearing within the jungle erupted into a blast of green light, when the light faded, six silhouettes slipped into the darkness, headed for the capital city, one where even in their armour they fit in.
By the time dawn broke over the planet, Skye and his team were walking into the city, passing the armed guards and security personnel with ease, guns in plain sight.
"Welcome to Drakanaar," A small blond lady grinned as they walked into the trade district and then into the clearly marked Police station.
"They have police here?" Spencer thought.
"Sure, but they're not exactly the police we think of, according to Becka, their more like mercenaries who needed a job." Skye thought back.
"Great... just what we need... more guys with nothing better to do than shoot people." Ryan chimed in.
"You must be Black-ops, am I correct?" A large man stood behind the desk, his dark skin glistening with sweat.
"Yeah, that's us, what seems to be your problem?" Skye asked.
"Well, it's not so much our problem, I mean we just shoot the bastards, it's the farmers issue, lately a group of Draconians have been flooding into the farms that supply Drakanaar and destroy the whole fucking place, leave a real mess we gotta clean up... and they kill the farmers." He replied.
"Right, so make a note guys, the farms are more important than people..." Alex thought.
Skye looked at Alex, smirked and turned his attention to the man, "My names Skye."
"Rick," the man replied shaking his hand, the sweat caused Skye's smaller hand to almost slip out of the grip.
"That's gross!" Skye thought.
"Glad, it's you hand bro!" Ryan thought.
Skye shot a look at Ryan before breaking the hold on Rick's hand, "So Rick, what can we do about it, we're in a situation to take out the cruiser over the planet, but what are your plans?"
"I knew when we called you guys in we made the right choice!" Rick shouted.
"So I take it you just want us to waste them all?" Evan said, walking forward.
"Is this your little brother?" the man asked.
"Yeah, I guess you could say that." Skye replied.
"He's pretty cute, wonder if he..."
"Ahem..." Skye had read enough of his thought, "Let's get going, any special news on them?"
"Well," Rick lowered his voice, "Someone said they heard them talking to someone... in English."
"That's crap; they don't know how to communicate in more than grunts..." Spencer replied.
"We've heard them," Said a few voices behind Rick, his colleagues.
"Okay, well we'll go after them, let's move boys." Skye replied, as he led the group out into the streets.
"Oh," Rick walked outside, "If you boys need anything 'special' come back and we'll take care of you."
Ryan and Skye shuddered as the same time and walked slightly faster away from the building, it was only about four minutes until they were outside the city and into the woods, the police station, was really close to the limits.
"So where are we going to look?" Ryan asked a few minutes down the road.
"Well the cruiser is located a few Kilometres North of here, so they've got to be near there." Skye replied.
"Okay, so let's fly." Evan suggested.
"Okay," Skye replied, and after a few bursts of light, five dragons and Josh stood in the clearing.
"Aren't you going to morph?" Evan asked.
"I... I don't think I can fly yet." Josh replied meekly.
"Really... I could in..." Evan's reply was cut short by Skye's elbow to his gut.
"Its okay, whenever you're ready to do it, it'll come naturally." Skye replied, crouching down on the ground.
Josh got the idea, and climbed up onto Skye's back, sitting between his wings and neck.
"Let's go!" Skye called, "Hold on," he thought to Josh.
_"Thanks Skye!"_Josh thought back.
_"No problem!"_and they took off.
