#1 of Light and Dark Poems

Another early relationship poem with some balance to it.

If you ever left me, if you ever ran to hide,

I would feel alone and lost without you near.

What would I do, who would I become without my guide?

Gone without a flicker, your light no longer there to cast away my fear.

If you ever left me, if you ever died,

I could not go on, could not continue my life.

Where did you go? You said you never lied,

That you would never leave in all our strife.

If you ever left me, if you ever ran away,

I would follow you to the ends of the earth,

And back again. Every monster I would slay,

To keep you safe and in my arms, it would be worth.

If you ever left me, if you ever lost your way,

I could keep my head high, my light on,

To guide you back to me, from so far away,

And stay with you, no matter how withdrawn.
